Hosted by Evan Owens, The REBOOT Recovery Show helps people overcome trauma and mental health struggles through a faith-based lens.
In our journey of faith, we often encounter wounds that go beyond the physical - emotional and spiritual injuries that require intentional healing. This message delves into the concept of a 'healing environment' and what it takes to truly overcome trauma. We're reminded that identifying our core wounds - be it loss, betrayal, rejection, guilt, or hurt - is crucial for aligning the right treatment with our specific needs. The message emphasizes that we are souls with bodies, not the other way around, highlighting the depth of our spiritual nature and the need for soul-level healing. As we reflect on Psalm 139, we're reminded of God's intimate knowledge of us, even before we were formed. This truth invites us to surrender our wounds to the One who knew us first and loves us most.

On this episode, Evan explores the concept of "going higher" through worship, emphasizing that worship is both a lifestyle meant to be lived in community and supernatural in nature. He discusses the true essence of worship, contrasting it with mere religious activities, and highlights the importance of being filled with the Holy Spirit. Authentic worship involves both the heart and mind, and should be directed towards God as the sole audience.

Evan explores the theme of perseverance in faith, focusing on "going on" when life gets challenging. We delved into Hebrews 12:1-3, which encourages us to run with perseverance the race marked out for us. The message highlighted how even the heroes of faith in Hebrews 11 were deeply flawed individuals who nonetheless persevered in their faith journey. We learned that God's promises often unfold on His timeline, not ours, and that our faith grows strongest in waiting periods and detours of life.

Are we truly going deeper in our faith, or just seeking complexity?
This week we explored the concept of "going deeper", using the story of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch from Acts 8 as a foundation. We discussed how true depth in faith often comes from simple obedience rather than complex theological understanding. Evan challenges us to respond quickly and decisively to God's revealed will, emphasizing that the Christian life is more about applying scripture than merely memorizing it.

Join Jenny Owens as she explores the transformative power of Christian community in overcoming grief and trauma. We're reminded that while grief can feel isolating, we're not meant to bear our burdens alone. The story of Sarah from 'A Little Princess' beautifully illustrates how we often draw protective circles around ourselves in times of pain. However, we're called to expand those circles to include our trusted community, fulfilling the biblical instruction to 'carry one another's burdens' (Galatians 6:2). This message challenges us to embrace vulnerability, share our struggles, and allow others to support us in our healing journey. It's a profound reminder that when we can't bear it alone, we're meant to share it with our Christian family.

In this powerful exploration of love and identity, we're challenged to dig deeper into our relationships with God and others. The central message revolves around 1 John 4:7, reminding us that love originates from God and is a hallmark of knowing Him. We're encouraged to reflect on how Jesus led with love, even towards those who hurt Him. This radical love calls us to serve and forgive, even when it's difficult. The passage invites us to examine our relationships, identifying areas where we're not leading with love, and challenges us to transform these connections. By doing so, we're not only aligning with our identity in Christ but also living out our purpose more fully. This message prompts us to consider how our lives would change if we truly embraced love as the foundation of all our relationships.

In this powerful message, Bryan dives into the profound topic of identity in Christ. We're reminded that our true identity isn't rooted in our past, our jobs, or even our roles, but in who we are in Christ. The key scripture, 2 Corinthians 5:17, emphasizes that we are new creations in Christ, shedding light on how our identity should be understood. This message challenges us to look beyond surface-level definitions of self and dig deeper into our spiritual identity. It's a call to recognize that our foundation is love - God's love for us, demonstrated through Christ's sacrifice. As we journey through life's trials, holding onto these truths about our identity can be a source of strength and comfort. We're encouraged to create personal 'I AM' statements rooted in our identity in Christ, serving as powerful reminders of who we truly are in moments of doubt or difficulty.
