Description:
Today is a re-air of my interview on the Empower from Within podcast:
In this enlightening and inspiring, information-packed episode, Emily Fraser, Chronic Illness Advocate and Host of The Spoonie Podcast, shares parts of her healing journey with us as the result of car accident that left her with a traumatic brain injury. She spent years struggling with chronic fatigue and pain and saw countless specialists and doctors to help her with these issues to no avail. Emily took it upon herself to educate herself with graduate studies in neuroscience, nervous system regulation, trauma, and mindfulness and she began sharing her journey on Instagram. This created the foundation for her business today. Known as the Spoonie Mentor, Emily empowers others struggling with chronic fatigue and pain with resources and strategies they need to thrive.
During our conversation, we touch on the following key self-empowerment takeaways:
Prioritize Time for Rest.
Notice the Internal Warning Signs.
You Can’t Separate Mind-Body-Spirit.
You Are Your Greatest Investment.
Recognize the Abundance Around You.

I was recently a guest on the wildly popular show: The Expanded Podcast. I'm so excited to re-air the episode for you today!
Here is how they described my interview: "Are you ready to meet a superstar pathway member who’s going to blow your mind? Meet Emily Fraser. She’s about to take you on her remarkable health and manifestation journey that began after the accident that changed her life.
In this episode, you’ll even be able to hear the authenticity and magnetism ring through Emily’s voice as she and Jessica go deep into topics like overachieving for validation, rest as an aligned action, fully feeling into pain, the innate wisdom of the body to heal and so much more.
Emily’s experience will be incredibly expansive for anyone who is or has suffered with chronic illness, is looking to start their own business, or simply needs that surge of inspiration to dive back into the TBM work. Because Emily is living proof of the power of Neural Manifestation, and you can’t help but be inspired by her story."

Elisha Cicirelli, Ph.D. shares how she healed from her own Autoimmune disorder, and how you can too! We had an amazing conversation about the role trauma plays in our health, and why ONLY changing your diet won't cure you.
Follow her at https://www.bravelytogether.com/
After being diagnosed in 2013, Elisha Cicirelli never expected to have to use her training as a Ph.D. scientist to help heal her body from autoimmune. Unsatisfied with the traditional medicine approach, she became her own healing experiment - immersing herself in all things, "autoimmune." During her journey, Elisha learned about trauma, ACES, and the impact on the brain and nervous system. During this episode she also discusses how subtle shifts in mindset can have a big impact on health. She's been in remission for over 5 years now.

I find a lot of spoonies struggle to fully accept their diagnosis. They are angry. They are depressed. They can't believe this is happening to them. They want their old life back. Moving through these stages of grief is so important. In this episode, I share a short clip of me coaching one of the members of my group mentorship program through this challenging experience. In this episode, Host and Chronic Illness Advocate Emily Fraser shares her journey becoming a spoonie, and how she has learned to build a life she loves, despite her diagnoses.
What is a spoonie?
Many people who are sick, disabled, or chronically ill refer to themselves as spoonies. The spoon theory was developed by writer Christine Miserandino in 2003 to explain what it is like living with a debilitating health condition. Those of us struggling with chronic pain and fatigue need to use our spoons (aka units of energy) wisely in order to complete every day tasks and activities. Many of us don't know how many spoons we will start the day with, and need to plan and pace carefully so that we don't end up in a symptom flare-up.
Learning how to slow down and prioritize rest is challenging. Especially when we are taught that being busy and productive is what determines self-worth. If you are a spoonie, I want you to know that you are not alone. Please don't stop believing that things can and WILL get better. You are worthy, no matter how much you accomplish in a day. Remember to be gentle with yourself and offer self-compassion.

Enneagram is a personality framework. In this episode, Vrin Rao provides an overview of the nine energy types, and explains how Ennegram can be used as a tool for personal growth. She also discusses her personal meditation practice, and how mindfulness can help us during these overwhelming times.
Vrindavan (Vrin) Rao is an Enneagram Coach and Meditation Teacher. She works with women and those who identify with the female energy to build strong and healthy relationships with themselves and others. She does this by using the personality framework of the Enneagram which helps us to understand the lens our ego sees the world through. Depending on that particular lens, we internalize and process occurrences, words, actions and circumstances in very unique ways that cause our ego to either categorize it as triggering (a particular identity I hold dear is being called into question - DO SOMETHING NOW!) or validating (Ah! I’m being seen as I want to be seen). It is our response to our egos' that spill out in interactions we have with ourselves and others in both the personal and professional settings. By understanding what we are driven by, we develop greater awareness, understanding and acceptance of ourselves and others.
Vrin is also a meditation teacher and a life-long practitioner of nada yoga (the yoga of sound), japa yoga (the yoga of meditative mantra recitation) and kirtan yoga. She is also well-versed in tantra, chakra meditation, swara yoga (the science of the breath) and yoga nidra (psychic sleep).
If you are interested in learning more about how the Enneagram can shed greater insights into your relationships with yourself and others, she offers Enneagram Consultations and ongoing coaching. The consultation is a 1:1 opportunity to dive deeper into understanding your core motivations, better understand your unique gifts and learn how to work with the shadows we each battle within You can reach out to her at: vrin@illuminate.nyc or on Insta: @illuminate.nyc. (https://www.instagram.com/illuminate.nyc/)
You can also download the free Intention Setting Template she's created here: https://view.flodesk.com/pages/5f3accef9a4a3d002609db60 This fillable workbook walks you through the stages of successfully creating and manifesting your daily intentions and gives examples of where we often go wrong.
Brianne Carter was unhappy with her life as an accountant. In this episode, she shares how the loss of her mother, a concussion, and breast cancer eventually helped her find her path as a Reiki Practitioner. She talks about this energy healing modality, the chakra system, self-care, and how learning to surrender and let go of control changed everything.
