I am honoured to welcome Annie Nguyen to The Debra Shepherd Podcast. Annie is the Founder of Annee's Caphê Sua Da (ANNEES), Australia’s first free standing Vietnamese iced coffee bar in far north Queensland.

Annie was born in Vietnam and raised in America. After working in corporate finance, she left behind the structured world she knew to explore what the rest of the world had to offer.

In 2014, Annie travelled to Australia with her partner. When she arrived, she couldn't get a job as a barista specialising in crafting authentic Italian espresso, so she decided to share her expertise in Vietnamese coffee and her rich cultural heritage. Annie set up a stall at the farmers market in Cairns, which was ideal given the tropical climate, perfect for serving robust Vietnamese iced coffee.

Although initially a light-hearted endeavour, starting a coffee stand awakened a fire within her, amplifying her innate drive to foster creation and unity among individuals. Annie found herself building a platform to empower and enable others to catalyse substantial change around them, guiding them towards purpose and self-discovery. Unlocking true potential is what ANNEES is all about.

ANNEES is not merely a coffee making establishment. ANNEES is a destination to experience the essence of joy and a mission to extend beyond borders with the goal to spread 'A-Piece of Happiness' worldwide.

In this episode, Annie shares her business story. We discuss meaningful living, happiness, purpose, business expansion, impact and success.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Having purpose in everything you do.
  • From leaving corporate finance and setting up a Vietnamese coffee stand at the Rusty’s market in Cairns to owning five shops in Far North Queensland, Annie shares her story.
  • Personalisation and the guest experience at ANNEES.
  • Annie's biggest lessons in business.
  • What it was like to be on Shark Tank Australia.
  • Annie's mission and six guiding principles that help her team integrate this mission into the business.
  • How 2024 will be a year of further expansion.
  • How Annie creates time and space for herself and how she finds balance.
  • Being authentic and using this as your marketing strategy.
  • The importance of human connection.

Joining me on The Debra Shepherd Podcast this week is Dana Evans.

Dana Evans is an Emotional Feeling and Clearing Coach specialising in bringing order to emotional chaos.

Dana's mission is to take you on a journey back home to yourself by shedding old, trapped emotions and opening up to the wisdom of your Inner Voice.

With the coaching industry thriving and all the minds working and striving, she is here to help you find the gentle stillness within - to sense, see and shed unprocessed emotions that are stuck in your body.

According to Dana, the work she does with clients is best described as an exploration, an in-depth experience where you connect with yourself and learn to trust the knowing deep within. It is an unlearning, an unfolding that ultimately leads to an unleashing.

In this episode of The Debra Shepherd Podcast, Dana shares her story.

WE DISCUSS

  • Self-care and how it is often seen as an outward in approach rather than an inward out approach.
  • How we can get stuck using the mind to control the physical body.
  • How the physical body is a conduit and it is usually the way your emotions communicate to you and through you.
  • How mindset work is one piece of the puzzle.
  • How unprocessed emotions can drive your behaviour.
  • Energetic hygiene and clearing your energy every day.
  • Common signs you have an emotional charge that needs to be released.

Work-life balance?! What does balance mean and is there such a thing? On the podcast this week, Debra welcomes Cherylanne Skolnicki to talk about how you can achieve brilliant balance and live your dream life.

EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Cherylanne talks about work-life balance and explains what balance is and what it is not.
  • How the addiction to being busy is hurting us.
  • The importance of asking for help and why sometimes we ask for help when it was never really ours, to begin with.
  • How to get more done and build a sustainable business without feeling exhausted and burnt out.
  • How to have an energetic day.
  • Simple things women can do every day to feel better.
  • How to find your purpose.

Want to be a rock star at work and at home? Cherylanne Skolnicki has the playbook. As an entrepreneur with a husband and three kids of her own, she knows exactly how it feels to have too much to do and not enough time to do it. It’s exhausting, it’s stressful, and it can be tempting to just give in to the chaos.

Like most children of the 80s and 90s, Cherylanne grew up believing she could have it all. She started her first business while still in high school, and dreamed of one day becoming a CEO. After graduating from Cornell, she went to work for Procter & Gamble where she spent the next 15 years climbing the corporate ladder and managing a portfolio of well-known consumer product brands (one had more than $1 billion in global sales). Despite her demanding work schedule, she still traveled, ran marathons, and volunteered like a boss. And then she had 3 children. All of a sudden, the unrelenting pace she was running at felt unsustainable.

That’s when she knew she had to reorder her life so all the pieces would truly fit – including not just a thriving career and family life, but also a good night’s sleep and some time to herself!

It wasn’t easy at first, but she finally discovered a set of practices that truly worked. That prompted her to found Brilliant Balance, and her playbook has helped thousands of professional women reclaim rock star status over the last decade.

Her company, Brilliant Balance, offers work-life mentorship and coaching programs to help you have a fulfilling career, a thriving family life, and a strong sense of self.

Cherylanne is a sought-after speaker and hosts the top-rated Brilliant Balance podcast. Her work has been featured in Thrive Global, The Huffington Post, Forbes, Women’s Day, and Cincy Chic. She appears on TV news shows as an expert on work-life balance, productivity, and purpose.

Cherylanne graduated from Cornell University in 1995. She holds an MBA from the Goizueta School of Management at Emory University.

She is a member of the Female Founders Collective, one of Cincinnati’s 100 Wise Women, a Forty Under 40 Honoree, a happy wife, and a proud mom of three.

As an International Transformational Artist, Kirana has a focus on belonging. Her painting is a physical and ethereal process, a fast and strong dance with light.

It is the freedom to express very big and to be loud, to touch and to be real, that Kirana enjoys most in her art. Her artworks are the diaries of her inner eyes and ears; of the energies above and beyond this one reality, we call the real world.

Kirana has been referred to as a midwife of dreams; a light dancer and in her words, ‘I am a channel, a feeling, hearing, seeing phone line with a paintbrush on the end of it to make the invisible, visible’.
