Battery 9, an industrial music project from Johannesburg, South Africa, is the brainchild of Paul Riekert, who writes, plays and records the music in a mixture of English and Afrikaans. The band name is sometimes written, without a space, as Battery9.

In 2010, four former band members of Underbelly and Scenery got together to work on a fun side project they dubbed 'Chocolate Milkshake Reservoir'. With the drummer and bassist leaving after two years to pursue other musical interests, the remaining members went back to the drawing board, recruiting new musicians, scrapping the old material, and shortening their name to 'CMR'.
Since then, CMR has been working hard, writing catchy new songs and perfecting their live performance to wow audiences with their unique musical brand inspired by the likes of Muse, Taking Back Sunday and Billy Talent.
I Obviously Watch Too Much TV, the first single off their latest EP, perfectly encapsulates CMR's upbeat sound with a melodic pop-rock chorus and heavier bridge, punctuated by electronic samples and rounded off with entertaining lyrics about a couple of scam artists.
CMR's debut EP, The Custodians, and their new EP, Disco Violence, are both available on iTunes and Google Play.
