This week it's The Devil in the Dark. Today we sadly talk about the Death of William Shatner's father which happened during the filming of this episode. Shatner's performance is nonetheless excellent in this episode, as is Nimoy's, but perhaps Shatner is more Shatner than Kirk? We discuss. We also talk about the lack of hi tech maps in the mining colony. Has the Enterprise crew learned it's lesson in dealing with the last of it's kind species since the Mantrap? Also, if you're system is so antiquated, why DON'T you have a back up available? Near the end Ken and Matt go down a rabbit hole discussing ideas for new CGI remasters where we clear up awkward story points and leads us down to other CGI things we want. This Side of Paradise takes us to the remote edge of the Galaxy where a group of pioneers have set up a new home. But all goes wrong when the spores blow their confetti filled loads all over the crew. It's almost #Mutiny and Kirk won't have it. He won't leave his ship! Matt really is taken with this episode and drools all over it. We talk about less is more when working creatively. This week we talk about the use of both the words Vulcan and Vulcanian. This week discuss Eugenics and how it went from in favor to out of favor in the early 20th Century. We discuss Umbro's and how even in the 60's they knew it would be a thing in the 90's. We discuss the use of stuntmen (Not Kirk) on tv in the 60's. We also discuss that no 24th Century TNG would ever become a traitor to the Federation for a pretty face. Ken also pitches his idea that this episode of TOS should have been 3 episodes to flesh out the character of Khan and the story itself. All this an much more!
This week the Return of the Archons. This episode begins the Star Trek trope of Kirk having to outwit a super computer, a computer is pretending to be a god, and the Enterprise is in danger while the away team has to save themselves and the ship. We find out another keen move by Gene Roddenberry to get himself paid and credit for another story. We joke about easily Sulu seems to be taken over by things, and this is the episode that Matt thinks started the Purge. All this and more!
This week's episode is Tomorrow is Yesterday! A fun timey-wimey episode where the Enterprise, thanks to a Black Sun, is sent back to the 1960's. We discuss Black Suns, how our nuclear missiles were carried in the 60's,we get to talk some fun Time Travel science that is a bit questionable but also relate-able to Back to the Future 1 AND 2! And we talk about Disney's movie SMITH! This and more fun!
This week's episode is The Alternative Factor and Matt doesn't like this one at all. We discuss how a love story might not only have led to TV's first interracial kiss (this WOULD come later) but how this episode would have been better with any B Story. We're back after a nice holiday and some ridiculous technical difficulties (including a coughing grandchild.) This week it's Galileo 7! Another goofy episode. Matt is rare form during this week's recap. He has a sexy hot robot as an assistant (who Kirk kisses, of course), there's a giant in the tunnels throwing Kirk's people down bottomless pits, they make Kirk a robot(!), AND we've done another EPIC hour and 20 minute episode. This is probably one of my favorites. ENJOY!

Matt heaps more love for Shatner than anyone should. (But he deserves it) Plus we get a little symbolism of the Cold War which was happening in the world at the time. This week has everyone's favorite foil carrying shirtless helmsman, this is the Naked Now. This week we discuss some crazy behind the scenes shenanigans, a drunkish Kirk, a crying Vulcan and so much more.
This week we discuss the Man Trap. We find out a little bit about McCoy's past andwe find a creature who loves more salty goodness then we do. Plus we breakdown the scanning of the ship, how tourism rules the future, Captain's Logs from the Future, how this was supposed to be the first episode to air and what that tells us of our characters and finally, what do we want out of an episode of the TOS... suspense and not knowing or the giving up up the mystery to see how our characters react.
This week we cover episodes 14 AND 15. I lost my voice the week before so we decided to knock out the final 2 episodes in 1 week. And what a final 2 episodes they are. Georgiou from the mirror Universe is taking command of the Discovery. Saru is still the most Federation character on the show and Tyler says good bye to Burnham. Plus we speculate on the next season and how, if any, the ENterprise will play into it. All that and so much more......
