I spent my life looking down, looking at the floor, looking down on life, looking down on myself; feeling small and insignificant. I couldn’t look people in the eyes and mumbled when I spoke, out of fear. Fear that somehow I’d get in trouble, that I wasn’t gonna make any sense, that people would judge me, that I’d be rejected. I felt isolated, cast aside and cold.

Growing up I wasn’t allowed to show up as my true self. Whenever I did I was always made to feel small, feel like I had no place, like I was a problem child. And at 16 it was cemented in my mind that I would be rejected if I was true to myself. And it was this fear of rejection that had kept me stuck all my life. Day in and day out I’d ask myself “If my family don’t accept me, then who will?” But I wasn’t able to carry myself the way they wanted me to... So I just shut down and became an expert at making myself invisible. I kept quiet, stayed out of everyone’s way, kept my head down and in doing this receded from the world and myself. Dragging myself through life aimlessly, not wanting to see another day.

You see I stopped acknowledging myself and in doing so I wasn’t able to understand myself or what was happening around me. I didn’t acknowledge my feelings or pay any attention to my thoughts. And over time lost touch with who I truly was, settling for less than I wanted or deserved.

I’ve always said that I’m a family man and always been keen on going to family gatherings. Even if it meant taking the busiest night off work and driving 50 miles to be there or running the risk of being fined for having too many people in my car. But when I made the decision to live a better life, taking the time to understand myself and my needs. I realised that me putting myself out to be at those gatherings, where I felt like an outcast, spending the whole event wishing that someone would truly notice me; it was just me looking for that acceptance again.

And the moment I clocked that, letting go of the beliefs, I felt free of the restraints that had been placed on me, I no longer felt the need to seek approval or acceptance from anyone. Which allowed me to stop worrying about being rejected and only seeing my life from one angle. Ultimately giving me confidence in being seen by people and opening up. From this point I was then able to look people in the eyes, conversate and connect with people. No mumbling, no looking down at the ground as I walk through the streets, no more looking down on myself as though I am nothing. I walk tall, carrying myself confidently and smiling with other as we cross paths 😁

My world has become a better place to live and it all started with acknowledging my feelings đŸ™đŸœđŸ’–

I was 28 and I was depressed. This was my second period of depression in a year and it changed everything for me. I remember the fear in my wife’s eyes and the guilt and shame about telling anyone. The sofa became my solace for 6 months. I got up, sat on that sofa and that would be that till I went to bed. I became addicted to online poker and would spend hours of every day in tournaments. My life was on hold for 6 months whilst I sorted myself out.

Truth is depression had been with me all my life. Both my parents’ partners died before they married and both were children of the second world war, with my mum surviving the blitz, and my dad signing up and fighting in the Korean war after it. They both had experienced some of the harsher side of life and dealt with it how they knew how, stuff it away. So little Mark learnt how to stuff emotions away and to never share any ‘negative’ emotions.

But those 6 months on the sofa served a very important purpose. It removed me from a job that on reflection I hated and never fitted with who I was. It taught me what was important in life and gave me perspective. It brought me closer to my family, especially my wife. But most importantly it lit a fire in my belly, to find the better version of myself that was lurking underneath it all.

Fast forward to 2012 and I was now in another career and far happier – in fact back then I would have said I had rid myself of depression (Ah, perspective is a wonderful thing!). And my wife was expecting our first child, Ben.

Ben’s birth completely changed my life again and that little flame in me kicked up a notch in intensity. Fuelled by the idea that my son would never have to feel those emotions that I did. I realised that I can fix myself and get 50 or so years of peace, but real change would be never needing Ben to be fixed at all and that that would change generations to come.

A lot has happened since those days, I’ve had another son, Alex, we’ve moved to Bournemouth but most importantly I’ve found Duke and learnt EH. Through that I have completely shifted some of the programs about self worth, control, fear of failure that had left me in a perpetual state of anxiety and has left depression a distant memory. And now that little flame has grown into a full blown raging fire. I not only want to help my sons not to get lost in anxious or depressing thoughts I want to help all men to remove it from their lives and I have a tool to do it with and a track record of doing it to myself.

When I recently saw the statistics of male suicide rates, I set up a closed Facebook group for men called True Man.

The name comes from men being true to themselves and others about how they are feeling. I now know that anxiety/ depression comes from emotions that are stuck because the person can’t allow them to flow out. For too long now, society has prevented men from expressing their emotions and allowing them to flow (Man up!, don’t cry! Etc etc).

I setup the group to be a place for men to express their emotions without fear of judgement, a place for them to be true. I still have the same stuff happen to me, but now the fear/sadness it brings simply flows out because I allow it to. I want to give everyone else this freedom.

It's an ongoing process as you continually learn more and more about yourself, of course you could learn EH to find out when you made those decisions and to release the programs you're currently believing to be true...
BUT here's 3 daily go to's that keep you in tune and in flow with your emotions and work for anyone:

  1. Anything that is coming up for you, breathe.
Any thoughts or feelings you're not sure of... Breathe.
Do some deep belly breathing, then from that place of calm. Maybe 5 minutes of breathing, or more if you feel to.
Then journal. Let the pen flow... write whatever is on your mind in that moment. Then reflect and do some more deep breathing.. then reflect again and you'll be amazed at what realisations you get.

  2. Search this group for "forgiveness" and you'll find Duke's videos, but just doing mirror work or forgiveness Ho'oponopono style on yourself and then others is gold!

  3. Release the judgement. Give yourself permission to cry, scream, get angry... whatever it might be. The sooner you embrace whatever it might be with courage, the better AND it might get dark for a bit, but believe me when I say, the sunlight ir a whole lot brighter on the other side! So be courageous and embrace those feelings, even when you don't know what's going to happen, or how you might be received.

If you're a woman, ask yourself, how you feel about a man sharing his emotions?

AND as a man, what would it mean to you, how would it feel to share your emotions without fear of judgement?
Who might you become?"

  1. Show a Leader's Confidence and Control: Confidence in a speaker is self-sustaining. Audience members will basically accept what you say (and to get tied up with your vision) in the event that they see you are positive about front of a group of people. You will see their faith in your validity through their non-verbal communication, which will make you more sure. So regardless of whether you're reluctant about talking in broad daylight, try to communicate certainty. You've known about an unavoidable outcome, haven't you?

  2. Dispatch Strongly and Conclude Powerfully: The most critical parts of your discussion are your opening and shutting. Your discourse resembles a NASA mission: on the off chance that it dispatches effectively, it has a decent possibility of succeeding. In the event that it doesn't, the mission closes in that spot. Utilize one of these 12 secure approaches to begin a discourse, and figure out how to close a discourse strikingly and notably. Your execution will emerge on the off chance that you know how to utilize these bookends of your introduction.

  3. Give Your Audience a Roadmap of Your Talk: Let the gathering of people know the excursion you're taking them on—and after that go there. Groups of onlookers need to feel that they're in great hands; and the speaker who lays out an unmistakable arrangement of activity is the person who sounds like the correct guide. As Dale Carnegie stated, "Tell them what you will state, say it, at that point tell them what you've said." Make it simple for audience members to take after your contention.

  4. Move Fluidly, Powerfully, and with Purpose: Learn this fundamental lesson on the off chance that you don't definitely know it: what you demonstrate gatherings of people is a key factor by they way they'll judge you. Be simply the photo affirmation. Maintain a strategic distance from ungainly jerky developments, frail or dull motions, or deer-in-the-headlights absence of development at a platform. Those propensities publicize self-question. Make your signals perfect, extra, and very few, i.e., when you utilize a motion, make the most of it.

Theater systems for business introductions are fundamental execution abilities.

  1. Assume responsibility of Your Performance Space: Your execution space is yours to order—however extensive or little that space is. You're a body moving in space, and your utilization of a phase is similarly as vital a part of non-verbal communication as motions. Try not to meander the stage or pace forward and backward like a tiger in an enclosure—rather make your development intentional. What's more, that podium? Abandon it and stand the all important focal point in the event that you can. That resembles certainty united to control!

  2. Talk with the Voice of Authority: If your voice isn't a capable resource, get help with it. You may be astounded at what a discourse mentor—particularly one prepared as an on-screen character—can do to enhance your vocal effect. Essentially: you ought to figure out how to utilize your voice to impact others. A theater teacher when I was an undergrad used to state, "If your voice is frail, you're a feeble individual." Not valid by far, obviously. Yet, it's the impression you give groups of onlookers through your voice that issues; and if that turns into their existence, you're cooked.

  3. Go for Clarity and Conciseness: You can without much of a stretch find corporate high-flyers who fail spectacularly when they give a prominent discourse. These are typically executives who feel that they know so much, they don't have to get ready to talk. "I can discuss this eternity," they let themselves know; and lamentably for gatherings of people, it appears that way. You should know how to be an unmistakable, compact, and convincing speaker. Frequently, the more you talk, the less your gathering of people will need you to.

  4. Recount Stories: Storytelling is your most significant cash as a pioneer. Actualities and information illuminate. In any case, you have to get to the enthusiastic heart of your message. Stories are nearly the entire diversion when attempting to move a group of people inwardly. What's more, recall this: the more imperative a choice—yes, even business choices—the more individuals make it inwardly. You'll discover loads of master sentiment on why narrating works in broad daylight talking, yet its center is this: Stories light the fire of individuals' feelings. In case you're not motivating adherents, why are you talking?

Abraham Lincoln, Steve Jobs, Winston Churchill, and dialect for open talking.

  1. Utilize the Magic of Language: To take your discussions from everyday to enchanted, find the energy of our dialect. Lincoln knew how to talk essentially and evidently; so did Steve Jobs, and in simply a similar way. To see how it's done, take in the Winston Churchill strategy for turning into an energizing speaker. Utilize examinations, illustrations, visual symbolism, and analogies, all of which can influence your message to come dynamically alive. Backpedal to the past sections of this article and you'll see a few cases sprinkled all through (actually, there's one!).

  2. Demonstrate Your Passion: Few things constrain the consideration of audience members in excess of a speaker's enthusiasm. Regardless of whether we concur or dissent, we can barely oppose considering a contention if the speaker shows his or her convictions, absolute entirety. Enthusiasm likewise enables a crowd of people to excuse a large number of sins in a speaker's stage abilities. Avoid any risk as most moderators do, and your discussion may vanish without a follow. In any case, be energetic, and I'll tune in, as well as recall.

  3. Be Conversational: The Age of Oration sickened and kicked the bucket at some point between JFK's initiation and Bill Clinton's administration. George W. Bramble directed at the burial service, and Donald Trump laid the gravestone. Groups of onlookers today don't need formal discourses; and recordings have prepared every one of us to get data rapidly and entertainingly. So simply converse with groups of onlookers on the off chance that you need to build up compatibility. Do you locate this troublesome with a huge gathering? It's an expertise worth achieving for the cost-to-profit proportion. Keep in mind: every individual from your group of onlookers is a similar individual you converse with one-on-one in different settings.

  4. Make a Physical Expression of Your Message: Think of this as your coming full circle aptitude, the capstone to your discourse or introduction. Have you encapsulated your discourse, instead of simply conveying information? When you talk as a pioneer, it's your persona clients are purchasing more than whatever else. So take in the 5 key non-verbal communication abilities of representing authority. When you consider it, physical articulation is the thing that open talking execution is about. Sending an email or a report is a certain something. Be that as it may, a discourse or introduction? . . . Ok, now you're talking!

An open heart can light up the darkest of spots, increment essentialness, enthusiastic adjust and the capacity to meet existence with smoothness and effortlessness. At the point when our heart is open, we are in contact with our requirements and wants. We are better communicators. We are more caring companions and darlings.

The heart ends up blocked when vitality designs (that yoga calls Samskaras) stall out in our brains. Regardless of whether "blocked vitality" impacts you, I'm certain you've felt the negative impacts of having a pestering stress or thought coming to frequent you consistently. These contemplations resemble vigorous barricades, and they can drain you. A heart loaded with incomplete occasions and stresses is something that we clutch out of nervousness — and thusly, it clutches us.

Obviously, when we don't encounter exceptional trouble with the occasions throughout our life, we can take them in, encounter them and enable them to go through as we move from circumstance to circumstance. In any case, if there is an individual trigger in question, the heart and brain progress toward becoming focused and we wind up stuck.

The inquiry is how might we take advantage of, open, and start to mend our heart space discharging these engravings? All things considered, here are seven ways that anybody can start to open and mend their heart to sustain the soundness of the body and the psyche.

  1. Deliberately inhale into your heart space.

Invest some energy every day deliberately relaxing. As you feel each breathe in and breathe out, don't simply "center around the breath," as we are regularly educated to do. Make a point to guide consideration regarding your heart focus itself, as though the majority of your vitality were resting there. At that point tune in. This is one of the first and most effective things I did as I started my trip. Through being aware of my heart space, I started to perceive old vitality designs, make space for new ones and rewire my contemplations and practices.

  1. Experience heart-opening yoga postures.

There are yoga represents that can control and adjust the stream of vitality into the heart focus. On the off chance that you hone yoga, you may have encountered the unobtrusive and now and then significant enthusiastic and profound parts of profound heart-openers.

Practice heart-opening yoga acts like you center around breathing into the heart focus. For more delicate heart openers attempt Cobra, Upward Facing Dog, Cow Face, Locust and Fish Pose. For more profound openers attempt further developed stances like Camel, Upward Bow, and Dancer Pose.

  1. Practice more empathy than you comprehend what to do with.

As my yoga rehearse extended, so did my ability for empathy. What's more, I'm not simply looking at feeling for people around me, yet in addition for myself. Huge numbers of us don't understand it, yet empathy is extremely about acknowledgment, and about influencing space for our suspicions and judgments to simply to be, instead of to grab hold of our feelings and mindsets.

When we make a propensity for honing empathy, of genuinely observing ourselves as well as other people, we are better ready to see the stories our brains think of, and see how they depend on old injuries. From that point, we can enable ourselves to exist in an alternate and more open heart space.

  1. Keep in mind that appreciation isn't only an adage.

As I turned out to be more present and focused on relinquishing old injuries, I started to encounter appreciation in a substantially more profound way. Appreciation has an intense method for moving our vitality and bringing warmth into our heart space.

Now and then, taking advantage of what we're appreciative for appears to be mushy or like a task. In any case, on the off chance that we endeavor essentially to focus on our lives surely — one that spotlights on observing the light, instead of the dim — we will feel considerably more joyful and more open to proceed with this training.

  1. Get far outside of yourself.

Let be honest: there are simply in some cases when we can't assemble up sentiments of appreciation. When we end up in this space, there is something unique we can do: give. Regardless of whether it is a supper, your chance, or only a grin, give something of yourself to another. Giving has a method for interfacing us to our heart focus and to the hearts of others too.

  1. Make associations — deliberately.

Set a goal to develop your associations with friends and family. Connect with a man you would not regularly reach. Delighting in the puzzle and potential vitality of life itself, investigate another's eyes, tune in to their voice and watch their activities. This is a basic yet intense practice for us to start overlooking all the stale stories about ourselves and our connections that we bear in our heads, and causes us feel the energy of "connectedness" at a more profound fiery level.

  1. Get super senseless!

Be that youngster you used to be, before the world disclosed to you who to be. Play your most loved music and move. Sing in the shower. Walk shoeless in the rain. Snicker.

My internal identity was walled off alongside my heart, before I started my excursion. In a remarkable minute amid reflection, I encountered a critical move and enthusiastic discharge. At that time, my internal young lady moved. Indeed, she hasn't quit moving and singing and playing and snickering since that minute. That doesn't imply that life is dependably a fantasy or that I'm continually grinning. It essentially implies my internal identity is fit as a fiddle, and by and by a piece of my identity.

Living from an open heart space makes more vitality, essentialness and motivation in our lives, so we can feel our intrinsic capacity as people to feel some portion of all creatures in presence.

An open heart space enables us to be truly our identity and it enables us to encounter the delight of profound association, of adoration and of peace.

So by now you guys know I’m a huge advocate for getting things done, focusing on one thing and having huge ramifications and effects as a result. There are some simple questions that you can ask when your business begins to grow to help you to grow your business. For me, personally, the time to expand and grow your business, the time to put systems in to place is when you don’t have enough time. There’s money coming in but you don’t have the time to take on any more clients, allow any more business to flow in, have a minute in the day to yourself; that’s when it’s time to grow and hire staff; etc.

One thing I see time and time again is that people either don’t spend enough time in the trenches, getting to know their business or they don’t ever try to do what I ask you to do

For a week or two, preferably two, every single day, every two hours, reflect. Reflect on how the last two hours were, what you got done, how efficient you were. Put what you got done into categories, so some examples might be

Category A - ÂŁ10 an hour tasks (replying to emails, doing some admin outreach)

Category B - £100 an hour tasks (at the moment you’re the one that needs to do it but someone could be trained)

Category C - ÂŁ1,000 an hour tasks (No one else could have done it, they change the direction of the business)

The aim here is to, over time, get to the point where you’re doing category C tasks only.

Here’s some pertinent questions to help keep you from being distracting by the shiny objects. So ask yourself:

Does this task contribute to my one thing?

And when you get to the point in your business where you need to grow and expand, ask yourself the above and also:

Can I eliminate this task? Can I automate/delegate it?

And when you feel yourself getting distracted by something new. A new technique, a new process, a new way of doing things; ask yourself:

Does this fit in with my current strategy?

On today’s podcast I want to talk about something that you’ve probably seen on social media, especially when people are looking for engagement. And that something is
What is some of the advice you’d give the younger you?

Personally, some of the things I’d tell the younger me is “Follow you gut” and “Just because someone is older doesn’t mean they’re wiser”. Specifically, when it comes to love and relationships the one thing I would tell myself is “Fall in love with someone for who they are, not for who they will potentially become”.

At some point in your life you learn that if you’re there for other people, if you’re able to hold space for other people, that if you do good things that that is a way you get love. The problem here is that when we learn that this is the way we have to do things or that we have to be there before we can be loved, what can happen is we build in a natural buffer zone. This buffer zone is certain things that we allow to occur before we realise ‘actually this isn’t cool’.

It’s so easily done as a child. It could be that you were the oldest and felt like you had to look after your brother and sisters or you saw certain things going on with your parents and decided that you had to look after them. It comes so naturally as a child to want to do everything you can to help those around you.

What can happen as we get older is that we can end up doing the same thing unconsciously. So for instance, if your partner shows up in anger, there’s a part of you that says “Oh that’s OK”; because you recognise that your parents showed up the same way. Then you would show up a certain way and be there for them. The problem comes without the awareness and you see someone and unconsciously you’re making excuses for them, unconsciously you see their programs and how they’re showing up but you don’t have a line. You may be seeking acknowledgement in some way and as a result you put up with so much more than you would normally accept if you were really aware of what was going on unconsciously.

Now the problem is that often we’re so good at being there for other people and we’re shit at being there for ourselves. And to be quite frank, I don’t want you to waste your life. In a relationship it’s so easy to stay in a relationship with a narcissist but if you were in a horrible job, you leave and find another job. I just invite you to put yourself first. Start noticing your own boundaries, your own values and the more you can know yourself the more you can show up in a conscious relationship and know how you interact with the other person.

Today I share with you a little part of my journey
When I was 18 years old I had met some pretty cool people. At the time I was unaware of how close I was to getting to know my own truth and attaining the tools, information that I needed to decipher why I couldn’t forgive my mum and why what had happened to me had happened to me. These people that I had met understood that there was more to life than met the eye.

I got to a point where working all of the hours under the sun for a department store wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. I began to wonder how people lived on salaries of £18,000 or even £30,000 a year. I knew that there must have been a better way but I just didn’t know what it was back then.

So I’d gone from that thread and gone over to the conspiracy theory side of the land, understanding that the model of the world wasn’t there to serve the collective, or so that everyone could be abundant and in flow. But when I met these “spiritual” people, they identified with the idea of being spiritual and rebelling against the system. Many of them didn’t have passports, national insurance numbers, didn’t pay tax or just simply weren’t in the system.

I remember we were a party one day and I got chatting to a few of them. They were asking me questions like “Duke, what do you think of Bush
 The Rockefeller’s
The Rothschild’s?” I gave my opinion but very quickly got bored because I could see, even at that age, that these people were identifying with the idea of being spiritual. They were zombies in their own way with the identity of what it was to be against the system.

As the conversation went on I came to realise more and more just how much they identified with being spiritual and begin against the system but not actually taking action. Also, they weren’t working on themselves.

I touch base on my perception of Trump and the media; and what’s portrayed via the media. Now I’m not saying that the media lie about everything but
They lie about everything. There’s a lot of work that goes in to editing and production to make things come across in a certain light and pull the wool over our eyes. I’m not saying that trump is a saint but I do believe that he is a catalyst for change, whether he is conscious of it or not. Bear with me here guys, just think about this for a moment. Since Trump has come in to power how many people are noticing the actions of whether the media are telling the truth or not around everything that is going on and all that is happening?

So I want to just invite you to question everything! Everything being shown to you, everything been shown to you in the media, everything you hear, everything you feel, even what I’m saying now. Question the hell out of everything!

Today’s podcast is all about sex
Well more the lack of it, the lack of feeling, the lack of sensitivity when having sex. This doesn’t automatically mean you must have had some major trauma or decision, or some major abuse happen to you physically or emotionally; etc. Which in result has shut you off from your body but ask yourself this
What’s stopping you from truly connecting with yourself and your sexual energy?

One of the things that really inspired me to talk about this today was that I get a lot of people reaching out to me who have been abused sexually or emotionally. I see a void in the industry around sexual, physical and emotional abuse. If you have had some kind of major trauma, major abuse as a child and you’ve tried to supress it I want you to know that I know how it feels. I know that feeling of feeling alone, that feeling that there must be something wrong with you. Know that whatever experience you’ve had, it happened for a reason; and it doesn’t take anything away from who you are, it adds to who you are.

At the point where we’re making the decisions of the lessons we want to learn, what our soul theme will be, the experiences we want; etc. Our soul is encoded to respond to each thing or circumstance that happens in our life, based on the experiences we want to have. So we can go one way or another. Someone who has been sexually abused may decide to become a nun and on the other hand someone who has been sexually abused may decide to become a prostitute. Either way we shut off parts of ourselves.

I share a story today of my experience visiting a sexual body worker. The technique she used was very powerful and I was tripping and leaving my body within seconds of her starting but she didn’t have the tools to release the trauma that was brought up throughout the session. Luckily though, I did and as she asked me questions I would get flashbacks of the things that had happened and the decisions that I’d made. If you do go to see some kind of body worker it’s great to have some awareness so that you can release the trauma when it arises; and be open to the trauma coming up. However, let me ask you this
Would you rather go and have a massage every week, for the rest of your life, to work through these traumas or have the self-aware so when things pop up you can see the point of creation straight away? That’s what Experiential Healing does, it allows you to see the point of creation when things pop up, acknowledge and release it.

I give you some simple techniques you can do (outside of Experiential Healing) to start reconnecting with your body. To help you to start feeling you feelings again and unlocking the parts of you that have been shut down through the abuse.

On today’s podcast I talk about last night and the beautiful insight I got through my daughter and her actions.

Now I was out and about with my daughter in Central London and it was a really late night. So much so that by the time we got home it was gone 2300. On the train journey home we were eating food and having a chat; and she asked if she could stay up late. Normally, she doesn’t even have the nerve to ask as she knows that she has to be in bed by a certain time and has always been very good around her bedtime. However, on this particular night I could tell by her eyes that she just wanted some more daddy daughter time; so I agreed.

Excited by it all she suggested playing computer games and possibly watch a film. Whilst playing computer games I could feel myself starting to drift off to sleep. The good thing was that we were already in our PJ’s and ready for bed. The not so good thing was that as I laid down and begin to conk out I could see in her face the thought of ‘Yay! That means I can lay down and snuggle with daddy!’ Almost like a well-conceived plan she laid next to me, cuddled up to my shoulder and within seconds fell asleep.

Although I was the tired one, I wasn’t quite ready for sleep yet. So having noticed what had just happened I decided to follow the threads to figure out what was really going on. By using the protocols of Experiential Healing I can now follow energies, decisions and thought patterns to their point of creation and see what’s really going on behind the scenes. As we lay there, her asleep and so content, I saw that what she really wanted was the physical interaction. Playing the computer games, staying up late was all just part of a well-oiled plan, maybe not a conscious plan. All she wanted was to snuggle with me.

As I followed her thought patterns and key decisions back I started to cry because it became clear that she had made a decision at some point that for her to snuggle and/or cuddle me, there needs to be a reason. For her to get her love language met, of physical touch, from the masculine she has to justify it to herself. This could stem from a fear of being rejected. Therefore, justifying the want, it’s like a guarantee and by going this route she knows I’m not going to reject her.

The reason I’m sharing this with you is because I’ve seen so many clients over the years with these programs running in the background. These programs and decisions, as small as they may be, stop us from receiving love, money; they stop us from embracing whatever we want in life. Ultimately, just like my daughter, you have the program of not being able to get love just for being you, you have to do something in exchange for this love.

Are you starving yourself of oxygen?

Are you giving yourself enough of what you need?

Now everybody knows the safety drill on a plane, either delivered by a cheesy video or the flight attendants. The explicitly command that in the event of an accident you are to put on your own oxygen mask before helping others. I used to sit there thinking “Yeah sure, with my 7 year old daughter sat next to me I’ll put my own mask on first, f**k that!” Now the thing is that metaphor in itself is very valuable and useful in everyday life.

You’ve seen the movies, where there’s that one guy or girl running around in the face of disaster trying to help and save everyone. When even they themselves have only one arm or are in dire need of help. Now don’t get me wrong this is doable but it would be much easier if you were able to give and help everyone when you yourself is intact. However, you and I both know that this is actually a need, a feeling that we have to put ourselves second. This need, this feeling has been passed down through generations from our tribal days.

I’ll give you an example, it may seem extreme but just bear with me here. A friend of mine ran herself in to the ground trying to help someone. She spent a lot of time trying to help this homeless guy and burnt herself out with the amount of energy she invested in him but didn’t want to let him go. Because on some level she didn’t want to not be there for him the way her parents weren’t there for her. The problem was that she didn’t recognise the desperation for being there for someone else, the way no one else was there for her. As a result she was forced to give up in the end and couldn’t help him due to how drained and unkempt she was.

My invitation to you is to recognise the programs in you, where you desperately try to save and help others, ask yourself this:

A: What part of you are you trying to help or save?

B: When did you make the decision you had to be there for other people and you couldn’t be there for yourself?

Now I’m usually an early bird and find that my sweet spot for waking up is 0500. However, this morning I woke up around 3/4 hours later. Have you ever had one of them mornings where you get up in this zombie like fashion, there’s dribble sliding down your face all over your pillow and you ain’t got a clue where you are?

Yeah I had one of those mornings.

So in this podcast I’m going to talk about dreams. Just to set the tone, let’s define what a dream is. A dream is our subconscious mind normally accessing different parts of our mind, expressing different parts of our mind, searching, analysing thought forms, worries, parts of ourselves we haven’t acknowledged; and the list goes on. This is just one instance, when you dream you could also be lucid dreaming. Meaning that you are conscious and present within the dream, thought forms, constructs; etc. You could also be astral travelling, where your energy body leaves your physical body and go off to other dimensions, planes of reality, other realms or even different lifetimes. And if that wasn’t enough to get up to whilst you get some shut eye, you could also be having future projections. So dreams about things that are yet to happen and other people.

With all that said, if you’re having dreams and you’re feeling confused or worried, don’t fret because you will not be given anything you can’t handle for one. Two, anything you are experiencing, you are able to interpret.

I believe that the quickest way to understand your dreams and what they mean to you isn’t via the internet as this won’t necessarily be personal to you and often is wrong. But to first of all have a journal where you write down all your dreams first thing in the morning. Secondly write down how you felt and how you feel right now; you’ll likely still have flashes of images and remember a little more.

The more you do this, the more you’ll feel the difference between being in a past life, astral travelling, exploring thought forms; etc. The next thing is, do a ton of breath work. I recommend at least 15 minutes a day of Pranayama Breath Work and by doing so you will find it easier to lucid dream, astral travel and rest your awareness in your dreams. And if you can keep following the feeling you will be able to interpret the dream for what it is and figure out what it means to you.

With the New Year upon us I wanted to give you something special in this podcast. Something that will out do any New Years resolution set. Something that you will find useful throughout the year and throughout the rest of your life.

Most people think that its motivation that gets you moving, that gets you doing the things that your heart desires. As well as doing the things that you kind of have to do like going to work, staying up until the crack of dawn to launch your new project, losing weight; etc. Whilst motivation is useful and can gets things rolling working from this space can deplete any stores of motivation.

All is not lost
If you can get to a space of inspiration and work from there you will find it so much easier to get through your tasks and ultimately your life. Don’t get me wrong inspiration can be lost from time to time but it’s so much easier to get inspiration back as it comes from deep within.

So what inspires you? What gets the fire within you burning tall?

Look within and ask yourself where your passions lie and from there you will find your inspiration.

I’m not an advocate of using coping mechanisms to get things done and/or to live day to day. Coping mechanisms are passed around like chewing gum in the self-development world and in the long run they’re not sustainable. I believe that if you have to hype yourself up and change your state to get things done on a daily basis or even just to get out of bed in the morning then there’s part of you that doesn’t want to do it, there’s part of you that you’re not acknowledging. And until you acknowledge that part of you you’re not going to truly want to do whatever it is you have to do. Now don’t get me wrong here, there are days where you genuinely feel down or can’t be bothered I get them too, but I’m not talking about those days. I’m talking about having to change your state everyday to get through life.

Some coping mechanisms can be useful for short term fixes and I believe that if you have to use it at all then this is exactly how it should be used. In the moment, where you don’t have the time, privacy or availability to feel out what actually needs addressing and acknowledge and release it. Believe me, once you’ve acknowledged the part of you that needs acknowledging, you’ll find that you no longer need to change your state as you’ll naturally be in the best state you can be.

When you are living your life from a place of inspiration rather than “ugh I gotta get this done”, you will find that you don’t need anyone to push you, to hold you accountable, to motivate you. Your soul and ego will come more and more in to alignment with one another and the programs that were blocking you before will fade away. And trust me guys that place of inspiration, self-motivation, self-determination is where you want to be.

So when something is showing up for you and you feel the need to use a coping mechanism, be it EFT, NLP, anchoring; etc. Take a minute to ask yourself “How do I feel in this moment? What part of me doesn’t feel acknowledged?” and take the time to acknowledge that part of you that you’re not embracing and that doesn’t feel heard.

In this episode of Self Awareness with Duke I talk about retreats and the importance of them. I’m not just talking about those retreats where you’re up at 0600 each morning to do yoga and juicing all day. Yeah they’re great but I’m referring to retreating from everyday life, often.

If you were to ask the top entrepreneurs when they get their million dollar ideas, they will tell you that they were sat on a beach somewhere or in a restaurant. There is so much truth to this, the golden time for creating is in those down times, where you take time out for yourself. For those of you that train, you know that it’s not when you’re in the gym that the transformation occurs, it’s when you’re resting. Yes being in the gym is important but this is just the instigation for the growth that takes place when your body is resting.

In the industry of personal development and business you will always see videos and testimonials about the hard work that was put in to achieve something but you won’t see the down time they take.

So my invitation to you is
If things aren’t flowing in your business, not quite working out the way you want focus on adding some down time. Not in a way of ‘I feel lazy today so I’ll take some time out now’ but actually schedule it in. This can also improve how much work you get done in a day as your ego will know that on X day you’re going to be doing Y for Z amount of time.

In today’s episode of Self Awareness with Duke I give you exactly what you need to see more in the spiritual realm. It all comes down to how connected to your heart you are, it may sound simple but, the more you are connected to your heart the more you are out of your head. The more out of your head you are the less control your ego has. When I talk about connecting to your heart I mean on a deeper level, so deep that you are connecting with your sacred heart space and having the ability to live from that space. Making it easier for you to feel and flow with the energy.

You may be wondering how you do that, well let me ask you. Are you breathing... Properly
Are you breathing in to your stomach, as a new born baby does?

If the answer is no, then my friend you are not breathing to you full capacity. Check out today’s episode to find out how you can be.

What is it that you’re waiting for, for you to go after your dreams?

What I mean by this is we have all played that game at some point. “When I get my laptop I’ll start writing my book” is something I heard once. Which logically doesn’t make any sense, as you don’t need a laptop to start writing a book. The statement is a guise of a program that she’s running subconsciously. In this particular lady’s case, she could use hers kids laptops, her smartphone as there are a ton of apps now for your phone, or you could even use pen and paper. Yeah those things still exist guys!

So ask yourself what goals, aspirations and desires are you putting off, and waiting for another domino to fall, before you take action?

What if you doing what you want to do now prompts what you’re waiting for to follow?

Of course, being mindful and responsible in the process and always asking how you feel; and what you want in that moment. I invite you to become aware of the internal chatter you have and realise when you’re not doing what you really feel like doing.

I’ve always believed from a young age that there was more to life that what I saw in my surroundings. I looked at my parents, their friends, adults at school and saw that life didn’t look as fun as it ought to be. Looking at those around me life seemed like it was much more of a struggle than it needs to be. So on today’s podcast I talk about beliefs and how your beliefs can help you rise or crush your dreams.

When I first decided that I was just going to work my ass off and make as much money as I could. I didn’t have any drive to do anything or attain any material things, go traveling or drive a nice car. I just knew that if I wanted to make a difference that I would need a lot of money.

By the time I was 22 I had worked so hard and achieved success in the property business but then it all came crashing down. My property business went under, business partners had swindled me out of tens of thousands of pounds, and I cheated on my girlfriend. I felt crushed inside, after years of hard work, it was all gone.

Looking at my life at that point I looked my intentions and actions but they were good, so what was it that was missing here? I then came to realise what that something was
I didn’t believe there was a higher power.

Do you believe in a higher power?

Before you jump to conclusions, hear me out for a minute. I’m not saying you have to believe in God, I’m not saying you have to believe in one source, one consciousness; etc; but then ask yourself this:

Do you always believe in yourself 100%?

Do you believe that you would live your life differently if you did?

Do you really believe someone who was so set in their ways can change?

Do you really understand their ways?

In this episode of Self Awareness with Duke we delve in to this very belief and I talk about how I understood the ‘spots’ I was seeing and the meanings I ascribed to them. A conversation with an ex brought me to question this belief and feeling in to how I felt at the time, understand the situation for what it really was.

Revisiting these past times I came to realise just what it was that caused her to show up the way she did; and acknowledge what was going on in my subconscious mind. You see there’s always a belief, a decision, a feeling in our subconscious mind that drives us to do what we do. Whether they be good or bad our actions and reactions stem from these very factors. I thought I was doing the best thing in these situations I describe, where as in actual fact I was scared. My internal dialogue was saying “What’s the point?” I was looking for what I needed then and wasn’t thinking about what she may have needed. Had I of acknowledged these feelings and thoughts I would have known why the situation didn’t bother me so much. I would have known what it was I was looking for in that moment and seen what she was looking for and given it to her.

I give you guys a quick exercise that you can do anywhere and for anyone who is giving you agro or playing hard ball. With this exercise you will get to understand what they need and whether you’re giving it to them; and what you need for yourself.

Again I would love to hear how this works out for you and your take on this subject. Comment, like and ask questions about the episode on iTunes. Jump in the Facebook Group Self Awareness with Duke to ask and comment away.

Seek to understand them before you seek to be understood ;) Have an awesome day guys wherever you are!

In this episode I talk about loneliness and what brings about feelings of loneliness. This feeling is often assigned with those who are alone but you don’t have to be alone to feel that you are. Some of you may feel lonely and be confused as you have a huge social circle; and even when hanging out with a group of friends you still feel lonely. It can affect you in any circumstance if your needs aren’t being met; i.e. you don’t feel acknowledged by those around you.

Before you divulge I want you to ask yourself these three questions

What is the one thing that will make you feel accepted?

Do you feel like the people around you understand you?

And

How do you want to show up in the world?

I ask this because these questions are key to you feeling like you belong, feeling like you’re being acknowledged and understood.

I share a story of where loneliness crept up on me and hit me like a brick! It wasn’t until I followed the thread that I came to realise the feeling I was feeling was that nobody understood me; it wasn’t that I was on my own. It may be a similar circumstance for you. You may feel lonely but actually there’s another feeling underneath that that’s mirroring loneliness.

I give you three steps to becoming more self-aware in social settings. Which will in turn help you to acknowledge your feelings and what it is you are really looking for when connecting and socialising with people.

I would love to hear what you feel is right for you and how you got on with the three steps. Comment, like and ask questions about the episode on iTunes. Jump in the Facebook Group Self Awareness with Duke to ask and comment away.

Are you being authentic with yourself and those around you?

A lady asked a question in my Facebook group around finding people that she could be authentic with and the famous quote that’s thrown around in the self-development world, which is “You are the sum of the five people you spend the most time with”. Concerned that she doesn’t actually have five people to spend time with and what that means for her.

In this episode I give my take on this oh so famous saying and help you to understand that being authentic with yourself first is the key to finding people who you resonate with. The desire to be alone, be it from time to time or for the most part, isn’t alien and shouldn’t be seen as a bad thing. It can be quite rejuvenating and is a natural desire for us; tracing back to when Jesus walked the earth. Spending time with someone doesn’t necessarily mean that you will take on their traits and absorb their behaviours. I talk about those around me having a really nurturing energy and I have nothing nurturing about me but I haven’t become anymore nurturing as a result of the time spent together. So, in that respect, I am not like the 5 people I spend the most time with.

I would love to hear your take on this topic and what you feel is right for you individually. Comment, like and ask questions about the episode on iTunes. Jump in the Facebook Group Self Awareness with Duke to ask and comment away.

Welcome everyone!

Podcast Episode 1: What is this podcast all about?

This podcast is all about self-awareness and helping you to become more aware of yourself and the things going on around you causing you stress and struggle. Even if your life is going swimmingly and you just want more understanding of yourself and others Self Awareness with Duke is for you. Helping you to understand why life is showing up the way it is and by acknowledging the feelings around it, ultimately, being able to shift your reality.

I wanted to do this podcast because I was inspired by self-awareness and the dramatic changes that took place in my life after being introduced to it. Since experiencing it, it has now become my life passion. I also believe that everyone has the ability to have such a level of self-awareness that they can create their own realities. I want to bring you inspiration every week and bring you closer to your own truth.

I share with you a snippet of my story to not only inspire you but also let you know that I've experienced what I teach first hand. It's not something I've read in a text book after text book and positioned myself as an expert. I practice what I preach! On top of this daily experience I've done countless hours of research, tried and testing different methodologies and spiritual practices, been on retreats and carry out daily rituals to help keep me in line with my own truth.

One last thing, I love questions, so please come armed with questions and get in contact with me. You can contact me directly on Duke@DukeSayer.com, find me on Facebook (Duke Sayer) and connect with my Facebook group: Self Awareness with Duke.

Hope to connect with you soon.

Enjoy the show!
