After releasing last week's episode, I knew we needed more. There was so much feedback from people who related to being hurt by the church... but we can't just stop there. We need action. This cycle has to end, and it can with you and me. Today, I share ways that we can be apart of the change, we can be a part of breaking the stigma of who a Christian is viewed as in 2021. I share some of my realizations and things I have done to start this process in my own life. Of course, there is so much more and it would be easy to just say, "Stop being rude and just love people." Back in 2010, I learned a theory that changed my entire life. Yup, I am literally a different person because of it. It is: You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. But there is more to it... listen to find out how to really know who is in your brain space & what they are contributing there. Because what they contribute... you contribute. Plus find out my original list that is a bit... awkward.

As always, thanks for being here.

About three years into our marriage I had a realization... I kind of sucked as a spouse compared to Wes. On today's episode, I talk about why, the questions I ask myself to change my mindset, AND the benefits of going the extra mile. It is all about showing up for each other and not just being on the team but working towards being MVP.

This weekend Wes & I were able to have a last minute, much needed getaway. We were desperate to have time to reconnect with ourselves and each other. On today's episode, we talk about roadblocks couples face that prevent time alone together, how expectations will dictate if that time is a success, and give tangible tips.  We also share why planning is SO important... so you don't find yourself in the same situation we did :/

I took away Wes' identity today within 1 hour of being awake. It was totally unintentional and a little out of my control but it affected the rest of our day. In fact, we hash our thoughts out here in this episode because we have barely spoken to each other all day. Ironically enough, that is exactly what this episode is all about- identity. How we gain it. How we lose it. And how we build on to it as seasons of our lives change.

This is for anyone who has recently changed careers, gotten married, had a baby, moved to a new place, broken a bone, ended a relationship, gotten in a fight with your spouse... cough cough... so yea, it is probably for you😉

I want to go on the record and say that we don't fit society's definition of #couplegoals. Wes & I are NOT perfect. We have experienced a struggling marriage. And if you have or are currently in that struggle, this episode is for you. We give tangible tips and action steps to get you from disconnect to reconnect. It doesn't happen overnight. But know that you aren't alone! It is a season & with an intentional mindset you can get to the other side.

It is finally time, a whole episode dedicated to the thing you either love most... or avoid at all costs & pretend to be snoring. Yup, let's talk about sex. Because we are all having it (or expected to) and many of us are silently struggling through it. Well, if you know me, I refuse to be silent. Join me in today's episode all about the roles Wes & I play within our own marriage... no, not role playing (yet)... and why sex matters!

If you enjoy it please, please leave a review & find me on instagram so I know you want to take the conversation deeper (pun intended).

We are talking about the effects of cancel culture. It seems every time I get online someone else is being turned off. Should we be cancelling people? When is it actually ok? And what are the long term effects of this movement? I will admit things I have personally done that could cancel me. Yup, I am pretty dang scared because things get controversial. But I told y'all I was going to be real... so, here we go.

There have been so many moments in recent months that Wes or I were just done with a conversation... but the other one wasn't. I even caught Wes hiding in the bathroom because his ears couldn't take one more minute of my passionate rants.

And can we please talk about decision fatigue?? Just buy the thing! As long as I don't have to hear about it anymore... I don't care!

Yup. Many of us have been there. This is how we cope.

I'm 34 today... and it's awkward. I'm to the point of getting Botox, even though I said I never would. Meeting friends is super weird and I'm not sure it's going to get better... can you imagine having to meet new friends in the nursing home?!

Wes and I chat about how you can deal with getting older as a couple. Yes, we change throughout the years and we have to learn to accept each other. But that change is ok... and we talk about learning to accept who we are and stepping into ourselves as we get older. #alwayslearning

Today, I interview Camille Bennett who is the founder of project say something & anti-racism leader located in Florence, Alabama. She shares about growing up as a black woman in Alabama, being a mom to two teenage sons, and how to be an ally to our black community. She has spent the last 3 years working towards the removal of a Confederate statue & shares her anger in what it has taken for the city to start to listen. I give an update on the removal of the monument after leaving the protest and city meeting. It will give a small glimpse into what our black communities are fighting.

After this week, we feel like no American can deny the reality of police brutality and justice within our country. But the truth is, this has gone on long before now. Today, Wes & I unpack the racism we have discovered within our own thoughts, we talk what white privilege and what it actually is. We talk about the subtle, often unintentional messages that are said to our black community every day & how these microaggressions shape their identity.

Are protests actually effective?

And most importantly, steps white people should take to begin their journey to discover & fight their own racism.

Wes & I dive into a time in our marriage that we were ready to call it quits. We talk about how outside stress (family issues, job loss, death, life changes) can affect our mental state. Life is hard! We talk about how counseling ultimately saved our marriage, and helped Wes work through the emotions he was working to escape. This episode is all about how to find a counselor, why go, and when! We want to alleviate any shame you currently associate with it and give you hope for what is to come.

We all "know" what it is like to be a parent before we are one. Right? haha. Not a single clue.  Today, I am sharing 6 lessons motherhood has taught me, when we made the decision to become parents, and what I am still struggling with today in the process.  Even after traveling the world, nothing I saw compared to that tiny baby who was laid on my chest. In that moment, my life shifted and I gained insight and purpose far greater than any I had ever known. I was also peed on immediately and would never pee normally again. It doesn't matter how close we watch our kids, accidents happen. Yup, even to the helicopter moms. Today, we talk about how our kids have taken us by surprised even when they are right under our nose. We talk mindset shifts in how to create space for your kids to explore while keeping them safe.... at least as safe as we can. We talk mom shame, guilt, and how passing blame can wreck a marriage.

Disclaimer: I talk about locking my kids out of the house... it was only the big kids. I don't recommend locking a baby outside. Just don't do it. When you ask the question, could my kid die? Don't do it. If they may scrape their knee... let them go!

Moral of the story... Put the helmet on! But you eventually have to take off the training wheels & let them fall.

Either way, accidents happen, stop beating yourself up when they do.

Motherhood is not for the faint at heart... I get it!

In this episode, we dive into the love languages and enneagram test to explain how getting to know your spouse can transform how you communicate. You may "think" you know each other already... we certainly did. But taking these tests have transformed how we see each other, talk to each other, and understand each other's needs. It is so much easier to not get stuck a cycle of feeling empty and unseen.

I believe this is the funnest way to take your marriage to the next level.
