Fernanda is originally a chemical engineer by training and specialised in biochemical engineering during her academic career. She has a wide expertise in the CGT since 2010 improving the optimization process of the current bioproduction technologies, particularly in the CAR-T manufacturing at different clinical stages. To that end, Fernanda helps companies progress from early-phase clinical trials to increase the throughput without increasing the manufacturing footprint.

Fernanda's proficiency goes beyond the industry since Fernanda was working as a project manager organising international conferences in "Advancing the Manufacture of Cell & Gene Therapy. One of the hot topics she touched up on is the AI digital solutions harmonising the collection of the data from R&D to process development, to manufacturing, to clinical. Conversation with Dr. Mohamad Toutounji - Molecular Biologist.

Dr. Mohamad Toutounji is a Molecular biologist focusing on CMC of ATMPs ATMP Scientist at Sanofi pharmaceutical industry in Amsterdam, Netherlands. His work involves planning & executing laboratory work , restoring experimental data sets and documenting analytical results to ensure maximum traceability suggesting next steps in experimental design. Even challenging work tasks of preparing all QA protocols, INDs and NDAs that he enjoys as part of his role.

Dr. Mohamed completed his PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover (TiHo) in Germany, where he specialised in cell/gene therapy, protein trafficking, cellular signalling, tissue engineering, and molecular genetics. His technical expertise is strong in Medical Biochemistry, Physiology and Biology.
Dr. Mohamed is a learner who believes it is by recognizing past mistakes that you move ahead with a productive future. Conversation with Cenk Sumen - previously working as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Stemson's Therapeutic in the USA; hosted by Tan Lay and Belma Alispahic.

Cenk is an inspiring professional who has worked as a Cell Biochemist in the research labs of MIT and Stanford on antibody engineering and cell culture scale-up. One of his greatest achievements is developing a novel system for deconstructing the molecular events in T-cell antigen recognition while working with multiple sclerosis patients. Furthermore, Cenk has held technical, commercial, and strategy roles at industry pioneers such as STEMCELL Technologies, PerkinElmer, Hitachi, and Thermo Fisher.

At the moment, Cenk is currently working as Scientific Chief Officer at MaxCyte, Inc., focusing to build industry-leading cell engineering systems to enable the regulated delivery of any molecule into any cell. During Cenk previous role as the CTO at Stemson Therapeutics, his mission is to develop new technology that leverages the power of iPSC (induced pluripotent stem cells) to generate new hair follicles. Cenk’s role as a CTO makes him study how to regenerate failing tissues and the chromatin changes that occur with ageing, which is a big focus in longevity research: how to keep human organs and tissue systems from failing? Cenk says, ”Hair today, gone tomorrow!”, a very good model system for how organs fail. This brings us to the main speciality of Stemson’s therapeutics to unpack the biology of that now and understand the genomics behind the hair follicles.
