In this episode, Erin Olson discusses how the position of our heart toward God reveals the posture of our heart toward God. If you were to rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being not good and 10 being great), how would you rate your relationship with God right now?
God desires a positional relationship with each one of us. This episode elaborates on the physical positions of our hearts and how it affects our relationship with God and others. Like sunflowers who track east to west when young (heliotropism), we often get to a place where we feel spiritually mature and stay facing east and fail to track toward God continually day in and day out throughout season to season.
Scriptures refererenced:
Genesis 4:24, "After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life."
Genesis 4:16, "Then Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and settled in the land of Nod, east of Eden."
Genesis 13:11, "So Lot chose for himself all the valley of the Jordan, and Lot journeyed eastward. Thus they separated from each other."
Ezekiel 17:10, "Even if it is transplanted, will it thrive? Will it not wither completely when the east wind strikes it - wither away in the plot where it grew?"

In this episode, Erin Olson discusses why it is so important to keep a level head even when those around you aren't and are ignoring what you have to say. In 2 Timothy chapter 4, Paul knows his life is close to being at the end. Erin challenges her listeners with the question, "Is your life preparing you for death?" as she lists all the things Paul does in his final days. Are there relationships that need to be reconciled? Who needs to hear the Gospel preached to them? Who are you thankful for? Who do you want by your side and what do you want with you? Second Timothy challenges each one of us to do the work not just for ourselves, but for all of those who need to hear what the Lord has to say.

In this epsiode, Erin Olson discusses why it is so hard to be a Christian today during times when people are seeking pleasure more than they are seeking God. Erin continues in her teaching series of 2 Timothy and discusses Paul's charge to Timothy in chapter 3.
Love of Pleasure: controlled by self, obtained easily, benefits us now, narcotic effect, cooperates with pride
Love of God: God can't be controlled, often requires effort and sacrifice, often benefits us in the future but not immediately, reminds us of our needs and responsibilities, must lay aside our pride and accomplishments
Warning to all: watch out for false teachers
Sin and wrong will always be exposed.
The Bible is Truthh regardless of what any Gallup poll says.

In this episode, Erin Olson continues in the book of 2 Timothy 2. If Jesus Walked Into a Drag Queen Reading Hour, He would know exactly what to say because He would know His audience. And, so should we. In this second chapter of Timothy, Paul is speaking to Timothy and encouraging him to persevere despite the odds against him. Regardless of what people are saying or what is going on in the world, Paul instructed Timothy (and believers) to stay above the chatter and focus on the gospel mission. Listen to these timeless truths and be encouraged and inspired to go out and share the Gospel with the lost.

In this episode, Erin Olson discussuses the importance of Pentecost. So many churches are failing to not only celebrate Pentecost on the date of its observance, but are also failing to help believers understand the importance of the third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit.
People and churches who fail to tap into the power of the Holy Spirit are no different than an electric car sitting in a garage with a power supply station set up on the wall, but never gets hooked up to the power supply. The car doesn't work as it should because it doesn't have power. Believers who don't understand what the Holy Spirit offers are no different. Once people understand what Jesus meant when He said He had to leave so the Helper would come (John 16:7), they will understand the Holy Spirit is the Helper who Jesus knew we would need.
Scriptures used:
Matthew 12:34-36, John 3:8
Matthew 10:19-20, Luke 12:11-12
Matthew 12:31-32, Mark 3:28-29
Luke 24:45
Acts 1:4-5
Acts 4:23-31
Acts 8
Galatians 5:17
Ephesians 4:3
1 Thessalonians 5:19
In today's episode, Erin discusses the tragic events which took place in Uvalde, Texas this past week. She discusses where evil came from and how Christians can navigate reaching those who are hurting, sad, angry, and need help.
Christians shouldn't run and hide while the world is suffering, and instead should be the hands and feet of Jesus through prayer and action. Christians should always be in motion to share the Good News of the Gospel. As more and more people are exposed to the love of Christ, more and more spiritual orphans will be adopted into the family of Christ. As this happens, the Holy Spirit will do the transformative work of changing hearts.
She challenges believers in prayer at the end so take a listen!

In today's episode, Erin Olson discusses Paul's second letter to Timothy, including the first chapter (2 Timothy 1).
Paul knew he was nearing death as he sat isolated from people in his prison cell in Rome, but he wanted to send his final words of encouragement to Timothy. Paul wanted to remind Timothy of his calling and to not give up.
Paul reminded Timothy of these three things as it related to leadership during tough times.
1) Leaders have power through the Holy Spirit
2) Leaders have the ability to love even those who hate them through the Holy Spirit
3) Leaders have the ability to be self-disciplined through the Holy Spirit
Paul knew Timothy needed encouragement to stay strong, but for many of you today, you need a word of encouragement as well. May this podcast serve this purpose...to encourage you.

In today's episode, Erin discusses the issue of "Self" as it relates to the current hot topics in our culture today.
To die to self is what the Lord asks of each Christian. As we surrender, we learn what it means to love God and love others...which has very little self in it. However, when one lives too much for self, there are consequences which don't just affect the person making the choice, it affects others.
Erin mentions the possible overturning of Roe v. Wade and how self plays in to the issue of life and choice.

In today's podcast, Erin Olson discusses how Paul describes how the Church family should treat one another. If the Church continues to look like an example of a dysfunctional family, the Church will lose its effectiveness in not only caring for those within the Church but also lose its effectiveness in reaching the unsaved. This letter describes how we are to treat each other with intention and respect.

In today's podcast, Erin Olson discusses why church leadership matters as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-13. More important than charisma, stage presence, number of followers, and size of one’s ministry is character. Church leaders are called to be leaders who serve and run their households well. Episode show notes: Why Church Leadership Matters - Lessons from 1 Timothy 3:1-13 (Episode 53) In today's podcast, Erin Olson discusses why church leadership matters as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-13. More important than charisma, stage presence, number of followers, and size of one’s ministry is character. Church leaders are called to be leaders who serve and run their households well. When Christian leaders struggle and fall, it doesn’t happen overnight. This chapter outlines how elders and deacons should behave in their positions. It also helps non-leaders within the Church know what to look for in a biblical leader. Elders = servant leaders Deacons = leading servants The offices of elders (overseers, pastors) and deacons vary in roles, however, both are to be complimentary toward one another as they support the Church. Elders 1. Lead under the authority of Christ 2. Care for the body of Christ 3. Teach the Word of God 4. Model the character of Christ Deacons 1. Meet the needs of the Church according to the Word 2. Support the ministry of the Word 3. Unify the body around the Word For downloadable notes on 1 Timothy 3:1-13, click HERE.

In today's podcast, Erin Olson discusses the two things necessary for order in the Church based on 1 Timothy 2: prayer and behavior. She asks these questions: What does your prayer life look like and what does your behavior reflect?
In today’s episode, Erin Olson begins her teaching series on 1 Timothy. 1 Timothy was a personal letter written by the Apostle Paul to Timothy. Not only was it a personal letter, it serves as a handbook of church administration and doctrine. It was useful and encouraging for Timothy in his day, and it continues to be useful and encouraging in our day today.
Deconstruction is a hot word right now in some Christian circles. People are claiming they want to fix the current cultural church by deconstructing what it is so they can reconstruct something they want. In today’s episode, Erin asks the question, “Is Yellow Teaching to blame for the problems we are seeing today in the Church and the need for so many to jump on the Deconstruction bandwagon?”
Often times changing the word in a directive doesn't change the meaning; it simply provides clarity to the task. The two greatest commands Jesus said are Love God; love others. What exactly is love and how can we turn it into action? Today's episode gets to the heart of God's love.

In today’s episode, Erin speaks with Crystal Buck, owner of Everlasting. We talk a lot about God equipping you for your calling, even if it looks different than what you thought you would be doing. We talk about owning and operating a small business, especially a business that relies on social media for getting the word out. We also discuss how not every Christian business is being cancelled on social media and hear how Crystal’s is actually expanding. Not only does she run a small business, she is a wife and mom. The biggest take away from my discussion with Crystal is a reminder that each one of us can positively impact our community, including our social media community. In today’s episode, Erin speaks with Earl Hammons, missionary in the Dominican Republic, about all that he is doing in the Dominican Republic, how each of us can be encouragers to our pastors, what God has in store for him and his ministry in 2022, and how we can pray for him, his family, the pastors and their families, and the people of the Dominican Republic and Haiti."
In today’s episode, Erin discusses the word the Lord has given her for 2022, “Growth.” As Christians, we should continually be growing and maturing in the Lord. We shouldn’t strive to increase the size of our faith, but to grow in our faith by being deeply rooted in Christ and His Word.
In this episode, Erin Olson interviews Misty Phillip of Spark Media about podcasts and being faithful and courageous in what God is asking each one of us to do. More info at www.sandalfeet.org, follow on Instagram @erin.olson."

It is easy to take things out of context in this fast-paced world. However, as Christians, it is important that we live a life in context.
There is a difference with waiting and looking. In this episode, Erin Olson discusses the importance of knowing the difference not just in your own life, but in the lives of others.
Key Verses:
“Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.” (Luke 2:25)
“Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.” (Luke 2:38)
prosdechomal (Greek) – to await (with confidence and patience), to expect, to look for
Much different than the passive definition for the English word “wait.”

Our goal as Christians is not to build our name or fortunes, but to share His name with those who need Him. This last chapter of Acts reminds us that our lives are not about us, but all about Him.
In this episode, Erin Olson continues her series in the book of Acts. In chapter 27, Paul, under the supervision of a centurion and aided by a couple of his friends, is put on a ship to Rome. Along the way, the ship encounters a horrible Nor’easter and is battered and broken. Miraculously, everyone survives. Paul received a message from the Lord during the storm about the preservation of life. It encouraged him and he used the word to encourage the others.

In this episode, Erin Olson continues her series in the book of Acts. In chapters 24, 25, and 26 Paul stands trial first before the governor, Felix and then in front of Festus. His case was then also heard in front of King Herod Agrippa II (the last of the Herod dynasty). None of them could find that Paul was guilty of anything and would have turned him loose except for the fact they wanted to find favor with the Jews (Felix was a political hack and was looking for a bribe) and Paul had requested to be heard by Caesar. Given that he was kept as a prisoner, the transport to Rome as a prisoner would be the means in which God got Paul to Rome.
The continual sharing of the Gospel and the conviction brought on those who weren’t Christians by the Holy Spirit, brought a range of emotions to Paul’s listeners. Some were angered, some were frustrated, some were fearful, and some were callous. Each time Paul spoke, the people who were listening had their sins exposed in some manner. As A.W. Tozer said, “Not death but sin should be our great fear.”

In this episode, Erin Olson continues her series in the book of Acts. In chapter 23, Paul stands trial before the Sanhedrin. They believe his guilt before he has a chance for a trial. They become so enraged at him, the Roman commander believes the people may tear Paul to pieces. A group of people plot to kill Paul, and God uses Paul’s nephew as a messenger of this plan to not only Paul, but also to the commander in charge. God uses the Roman army to transport Paul to Caesarea to stand before the governor, Felix.
Acts 23 exposes us to humanity, humility and hope. Key verse – verse 11: “The following night the Lord stood near Paul and said, ‘Take courage! As you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so you must go and also testify in Rome.’”

In this episode, Erin Olson continues her series in the book of Acts. In chapters 21 and 22, we see Paul heading to Jerusalem against the advice of the disciples. Paul wasn’t being disobedient to the Holy Spirit nor was he being disrespectful to the disciples. Paul simply knew the Holy Spirit wanted him to go to Jerusalem despite the fact he would endure pain and suffering.
We can’t give in when we are scared or people are scared for us. Our purpose needs to be seen through if we want to remain obedient to the Spirit. Use the opportunity God gives to you to share the Gospel and your testimony. You never know what kind of impact this will have on people. Don’t hold back!

In this week's episode, Erin Olson continues her teaching in the book of Acts chapter 20. Leaders and followers are not mutually exclusive but rather are dependent upon one another. Paul explains what it means to be a church leader in this chapter and provides an example to follow even still today.
In this episode, Erin Olson continues her teaching on the book of Acts. In Chapter 19, evil spirits are confronted. Sometimes, we get worried that evil spirits know who we are, but we shouldn’t. If evil spirits know who you are, it means you are doing work that penetrates the darkness. To learn more about Erin Olson’s ministry, visit www.sandalfeet.org.
As we navigate life, many people will come across our paths that influence us as we influence others. Stay true and focused on your calling and your gifting, and allow the Holy Spirit to do the rest.

The choices we make today will impact the Gospel going forward. Sometimes it is the big things, and sometimes it is just the everyday things we do or don't do that people take notice of.
By keeping our eyes on Jesus, we remember the Gospel is always worth fighting for because people's eternity is at stake.
Facing persecution, including harassment and stoning, was something the early disciples experienced. Yet, they didn't let any of it stop them from sharing the Good News. They persevered at all costs because everything they did for the Gospel was worth it. Every life, every healing, every miracle, every new church birthed...all of it was worth it because they knew it was what they were called to do.
The Holy Spirit is capable of doing many things and He often leads us to others who need to know about salvation. Being able to discern the Holy Spirit is critical as well as knowing Scripture. It is also important to know who your audience is because everyone will respond to different things.
We sometimes wrongly believe that the outcome is always reliant upon our prayers. This just isn't true. Our prayers matter to God, yes, but whether He answers them the way we want them answered or not, He gets to decide the outcome. Be an active, prayerful participant. You just never know how God is going to move.
Sometimes fellow believers will come at you because of something you have done that they don't like. Instead of arguing with them, especially if it is something you feel God has called you to do and you were acting out of obedience, simply replay the entire situation for them. Let your words and the Spirit work in their hearts. You never know what might happen.
Will be uploading show notes shortly. Description: "Is God softening your heart toward a certain person or people, and most importantly, are you listening? This week's episode discusses a pivotal moment in church history...the birth of the Gentile church because two men allowed the Holy Spirit to do a work in their hearts and obeyed when they were told to do something."
When we begin to acknowledge that all calls are important for Kingdom work, we begin to allow the Spirit to tenderize our hearts for our brothers and sisters in Christ, as well as those who need to hear the Gospel.
Adversity often pushes us to do things we might not otherwise do and see people differently. In our obedience to the Holy Spirit, our eyes and hearts can be open to people and circumstances we might not otherwise make ourselves available for.
Little issues can become big issues when they are not properly addressed within the church. By properly choosing the right people to do the right tasks, the right people will be available to do the work the Lord has asked them to do. By choosing the right people, no one falls through the cracks.
Luke demonstrated his meticulous detail in Acts 5. He carefully outlined both internal and external pressures on the early church. These were real incidents then, however, we also face these same issues today; deceit, miracles, faith, obedience, authority, and the Gospel's transmission.
We need chapters like Acts 4 to help our spiritual growth and to remind us that we are to courageously proclaim God's message, be confidently at prayer, and share with others.
In this episode, Erin Olson discusses Acts 3. There are several key things that occurred during this chapter. Peter seized on a Holy Spirit moment, a lame man was healed, and Peter preached the Gospel.
How would we respond today if we were Peter? Would we just move along because we didn’t have any money or time for the beggar or would we stop to share what we, as Christians, do have? Have you ever felt like the beggar, especially as it relates to spiritual things? Have you been moved so greatly by someone else’s faith that it caused yours to be ignited?
This chapter highlights for us today that we need to make sure we are seizing opportunities to share the Gospel with those whom the Holy Spirit places in our path. Are we willing to give them what we have?

God is always intentional in delivering His promises. The Day of Pentecost was no exception.
After Jesus’s resurrection, but before His ascension, Jesus spent forty days teaching the disciples. He commanded them to not leave Jerusalem and wait for the gift that was being sent by His father (Acts 1:4). For ten days after Jesus’s ascension, the disciples obeyed this command. They gathered together waiting and praying with one another. Unlike the three days between Jesus’s death and resurrection where the disciples were scattered, this time they stayed together.
What if they hadn’t obeyed Jesus out of fear or just plain disobedience? What if they went ahead of Jesus’s plan? How different might things have turned out. Instead, we have the book of Acts. Luke’s historical account of the account between Jesus’ resurrection, ascension and the early church (about 30 years worth of history). We can learn not only a lot about the early church in this book, but we can learn a lot about ourselves through this book. How would you have responded if you were in the disciples’ shoes?

In this episode, Erin Olson introduces the Bible teaching series she is launching over the next several weeks. Erin will be covering the entire book of Acts because it’s where the Church began. Erin was recently reminded that not everyone who sits in church knows the Bible, including all of the terms of context included in it.
We need to be people who get back to actively reading and studying Scripture if we want to be effective in our witness. Erin hopes to honor this part of the mission of The Depot Podcast (Equip) by doing just that.

Judges 8:4 says, “Gideon and his three hundred men, exhausted yet keeping up the pursuit, came to the Jordan and crossed it.”
God called Gideon, a man who felt unqualified to be used by God. Gideon started out with 32,000 men, that number dwindled to 10,000, and then ultimately to 300. God did not want the Israelites to think for one minute that their strength would win the battle. God wanted to be sure that He alone got the victory. And, He did.
You may be tired right now fighting the battle God has called you to, but know that if He called you to it, He will get you through it. If you are tired, ask for His strength. God is in a season of unleashing mighty miracles for battles He is fighting right now. Where some may think victory looks hopeless, God is saying, “Wait and see what I will do.”
Believe it. He is faithful.

The farther we get from the Cross, the easier it is to forget the cost. We must never forget who paid the price.
Forgiveness is a gift from God. It is free to every single person who accepts it. However, this gift came at a cost. Sadly, the farther we get from the Cross, the easier it is to forget the cost. Jesus died so that those who believe in Him can live. While we can never earn the gift of salvation, our lives should be reflective of the gratefulness of His sacrifice.

The fall of mankind occurred only three chapters into Genesis. Three chapters! In a perfect setting, the slippery serpeant uttered a few words that changed the course of history, “Did God really say?” (Genesis 3:1). Those words opened up room for doubt, curiosity, and disobedience. We have felt the effects ever since.
I wonder today if those same words by Satan are being whispered in some Christian’s ears, “Did God really say?” Progressive Christianity is pushing a narrative that changes what God said is good and right according to His Word. Some are even saying that the Bible itself isn’t God’s Word. They have heard the whispers of deceit by Satan, “Did God really say?” and they have taken a bite.
We cannot continue to be silent about this, especially within the Church. False doctrine must be exposed. False teachers must be called to repentance. The world will not discipline those who have gone astray. Instead, they will applaud them because those who go astray, yet still claim to be “Christian,” will look more like them and less like Jesus. And we all know, the world does not like Jesus.
Charles Spurgeon said, “Anything is better than the dead calm of indifference.” Don’t settle in the camp of indifference, especially if you believe the Truth. We must speak up to expose the lies.

If they were to write your name in a book, would it say, “He/she did right in the eyes of the Lord or he/she did what was evil in the eyes of the Lord?” We are all leaders leading someone. Whether we like it or not, our decisions influence others. Loving God and loving others means that we will love Him in the choices we make and the actions we take, and that we will consider others when we do these things.
Throughout the Old Testament, we saw many kings who did what was evil in the eyes of the Lord. They learned their behavior from their fathers, and their father’s father. They repeated bad behavior, and there were dire consequences for their actions. We see the same thing today. Many leaders still fail to do what is right in the eyes of the Lord. Each one of us must make the decision to resist the temptation of the devil and not do what is evil. It might look enticing, comfortable, fun, or profitable, but anything not right in the eyes of the Lord has consequences for the person as well as the people they are leading.
Choose to do what is right.

We should never allow the enemy to dissuade us from praying or lull us into the sense that prayer does not make a difference. Prayer can change things.
Scriptures referenced in this podcast:
He waits for our prayers (Philippians 4:6–7; 1 Peter 3:12; 1 John 5:15)
Our prayers change things (James 5:14–16; Ephesians 6:18)
God is in complete control (Luke 12:22–27; Revelation 1:17)

A warning for people: only listen to prophecies which line up with God’s Word. Don’t fall for prophetic words confirming sin and unrighteous living.
Jeremiah was a prophet who prophesied to the people of Judah for forty years. He prophesied not only to those still living in Judah, but also to those who had already been exiled to Babylon.
Jeremiah came from the town of Anathoth which was known as “the city of priests.” He was called to be a prophet around the age of seventeen. People in his hometown didn’t believe his messages of repentance or destruction and wanted to kill him (Jeremiah 11:18–23).
Babylon invaded Jerusalem three times before they completely destroyed it and the Temple in 586 B.C. Jeremiah was not taken captive during the early sieges.
The people of Judah were being punished by God, and God chose to use the Babylonians has His weapon of choice, because they had turned away from God. He continually tried to get their attention through His spokespeople, the prophets, but the people wanted to listen to the false prophets who delivered more user-friendly prophecies.

God is constant. God is sovereign. This is true today and will be true tomorrow. God is still God whether we acknowledge Him or we don’t. God still causes the sun to rise and set regardless of whether we say His name in public or not, and regardless of whether it is allowed or not.
In the book of Esther, we see the heart of a man who hated God and hated His people. Haman was an Amalekite, and Amalekites were sworn enemies of the Jews. Haman wanted nothing more to destroy a man who refused to bow down to him and seize the opportunity to take revenge on the Jewish people. Haman was consumed with power and pride. Haman’s position got him access to the king and the king issued a decree upon Haman’s urging.
But God — even if He is never mentioned in the book of Esther, was at work. What looked like doom for the people of God turned into a victory that is still celebrated to this day by the Jewish people. How amazing is that?

As Christians, we need to remember our most important mission; the commission Christ gave us - share Hope. Don't hold it back and think you get to decide who gets to hear it.
Scriptures referenced:
2 Corinthians 5:17–20: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.”
Joshua 2 and Joshua 6
1 Corinthians 1:8–9: “On the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Luke 15:3-7: “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.”

Scriptures referenced:
John 3:3, NIV: "Jesus replied, 'Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.'"
Romans 5:12 NIV:“Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned.”
Ephesians 2:8–9: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”
Ephesians 1:4–5 :“In him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will.”
John 16:33: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
1 Cor 2:14: “The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.”
