We then take explore how various socialist leaders including Lenin, Stalin, Mao, and Deng constructing these features while considering differences in their societies' levels of historical development, with particular attention paid to commodity exchange.

I just couldn't help myself... I know we're supposed to be continuing our study of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, but with shit poppin' off between the Canadian Government and the so-called "Trucker" Convoy, I had to make this episode a deep dive.
I mean a DEEEEEP dive, this is a whopper of a 2.5 hour episode covering both the history of the Convoy Protest and the recently enacted Emergencies Act by PM Justin Trudeau, effectively suspending Canadians' Charter Rights across the country.

In the first of our several part series on the reactionary force of American Evangelical Christianity, I take a look at Kristin Kobes Du Mez's book, Jesus and John Wayne: How White Evangelicals Corrupted a Faith and Fractured a Nation.
We trace the development of Fundamentalist Protestantism into Modernist and Fundamentalist movements that evolved, coalesced, and diverged throughout WWI, WWII, and leading into the Cold War.
Using Du Mez's fantastic work, I analyze how nationalism, patriarchy, capitalism, and white supremacy played important roles in this movement's early years, and how it continues to guide it into 2021.

In this episode I read and analyze Stalin's Dialectical and Historical Materialism.
This work builds upon the discussion on Dialectical Materialism (D.M because I'm lazy) we had in Episode 8, ol' Joe does a good job presenting the ideas clearly, and using quotes from Marx, Engels, and Lenin to illustrate the core concepts of D.M.
I've heard this is a great book to better grasp D.M as an analytical lens, especially for newcomers to the concept. It's very straightforward, the explanations use plain language, in fact Stalin actually provides his own notes in parenthesis to clarify certain obscure references and words.
Further, the second half presents the application of D.M to society and the history of mankind, dubbed Historical Materialism. This is a very important concept and I think the writing and discussion breaks it down into easily understandable chunks. Usefully points out key points our research should focus on to understand the developmental forces of history.

We return to Lenin's The State and Revolution and take a crack at Chapter 3.
This was a great chapter, tons of concrete, clear, and realistic answers to many of the questions I've personally had on the transition from capitalism to socialism.
Lenin calls out a bunch of liberals, social democrats, and opportunists and Marx reveals one secret for a "cheap government" that libertarians HATE!
Lenin gives a concise answer to the question, "what is to replace the smashed state machine?"

Part 3 of our multi-part series on Lenin's The State and Revolution.
In this episode I analyze Chapter 2: The Experience of 1848-51, this includes sections on how bourgeoisie revolutions structurally lead to proletarian revolutions, the concept of the Dictatorship of the Proletariat, and what Lenin calls "the most profound distinction between the Marxist and the ordinary petty bourgeois".
This episode was very fun to record, several fantastically concise sections from Lenin where he very plainly asserts core concepts of Marxist thought.

This week I move onto the next section of Lenin's The State and Revolution. I discuss the Withering Away of the State, and how this concept has been distorted from it's original meaning, and finish the episode discussing Lenin's take on the necessity of violence in the revolution.
This episode includes a lot of analysis, so we moved fairly slowly through the chapter, but there's some great content and very important concepts included in this section.

In Episode 9 I take a look at the recent leak that exposed the American Department of Homeland Security's attempt to label Antifa a domestic terrorist organization, by constructing a link to the Kurdish Militia group, the YPG.
I was inspired to discuss this episode after hearing that Brace from the TrueAnon Podcast was mentioned in the leak, and down the rabbit hole I went.
I tried to keep it concise, but there is so much to say about Kurdish resistance that you can bet there will be a full episode discussing it in the future.

Episode 5 takes a look at the Boogaloo Movement, it's origin, evolution, ideologies, and future.
I took the last week to research online Boogaloo communities and social media platforms, as well as have some conversations with purported members of the movement in an attempt to answer the question, "Is the Boogaloo Movement a white nationalist project?"
This was originally intended to be a shorter episode, but in my usual style I couldn't help but continue to dig deeper into the subject. and finished with an analysis of how people get involved, how their political radicalization progresses, and what we can do as progressives, leftists, and revolutionaries to stop it.
