In this 174th episode of the Live Healthy Be Well podcast, Jeffrey Smith discusses the potential health risks associated with genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and the herbicide Roundup. He emphasizes the connection between leaky gut syndrome, autoimmune diseases, allergies, inflammation, cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and autism, suggesting that the prevalence of leaky gut may be linked to the consumption of BT corn, which contains the BT toxin. In addition, Jeffrey also speculates that BT genes from GMOs could transfer to gut bacteria, turning them into toxin-producing factories within the digestive tract.

In this episode, Jeffrey is interviewed by Steven Shore of the Real Truth About Health network about initial studies with GMO Salmon showing cannibalistic behaviors when food supplies were reduced. If these Salmon were released into natural populations it could lead to species collapse.
Jeffrey is also asked about the dangers and unique properties of Dicamba herbicide and its propensity to float on wind currents and drop into other fields. A peach farmer was awarded $250 million in a lawsuit that claimed his crops were contaminated by Dicamba from a neighboring farm.

A published article in a British scientific journal that said, when consumers in Canada were given full information they chose to eat genetically modified corn. What the article didn't say is how this information that was given to Canadian consumers was prefaced with the statement, "Would you eat wormy sweet corn"? This statement was directly above the assortment of non-GMO corn and above the assortment of GMO corn there was no sign at all. This was all done by a pro-GMO group in Canada.
This shows the length the biotech industry will go to in promoting their GMO products - publishing an article in a scientific journal that only presents part of the story.

In this episode, at a Real Truth About Health conference, Jeffrey tells some amazing stories that have been discovered during the recent and ongoing lawsuits against Bayer/Monsanto:
- Monsanto's "Discredit Bureau" which worked under the mission statement, "Let Nothing Go" and was a financial line item in their budget.
- The story of IBT or International Biotest Labs who did about 35 - 40% of all toxicology testing for industry and was considered the "go to" lab to get your pesticide approved. It was found through a DOJ investigation that about 80% of all tests run through IBT were falsified and invalid.
- The story of James Parry, one of the leading scientists on genotoxicity, was hired by Monsanto and declared glyphosate, the main chemical in Roundup, genotoxic. Monsanto would not accept any of his findings and hid them from the EPA.
- The story of Marion Copely, an EPA executive, who was dying from cancer and during her last days said that her investigation showed that there were 14 ways that glyphosate could cause cancer.

In this episode, Jeffrey speaks at a Real Truth About Health live conference. Jeffrey discusses two specific instances where Monsanto conducted their own studies on GMO soy which showed no differences between naturally grown soybeans and Monsanto's GMO soybeans.
Unfortunately, both studies were rigged by Monsanto to show these non-differences and, in fact, these early Monsanto studies were used as models for how to fool the public in "scientific" studies.

In this episode, Jeffrey talks about how, in the early Monsanto studies, rats were fed GMO corn and they developed serious issues in their physiology during this 90 day study and Monsanto decided to hide those facts when the study was released. A former Monsanto scientist became concerned because in South Africa, GMO corn was being fed to humans who, historically, have eaten corn as a regular staple in their diet.
One landowner/farmer in South Africa was feeding his workers the GMO corn and many of the workers got sick with severe headaches, flu-like symptoms and inflammation; eventually, some of the workers died from eating the GMO corn.

In this episode Jeffrey tells a couple stories surrounding the myth that "GMO's are needed because they will feed the world"--a common talking point from the biotech industry that has been shown, through scientific studies, not to be true.
In his first story he talks about how he sat across the table from a Monsanto molecular biologist at a Lindy Hop workshop in St. Louis (Jeffrey loves to dance). Jeffrey asks a series of pointed questions that end in no response from the biologist.
In his next story, Jeffrey discusses how Monsanto convinced cotton farmers in India to buy their very expensive GMO cotton seeds. After one season, not only did the cotton seeds not produced but they caused a series of health problems and financial collapses that ended in the suicides of 250,000 farmers.
In this episode Jeffrey discusses how in 1999, during a biotech conference, Monsanto decalred that within 5 years they wanted to create a world in which 100% of all commercial seeds would be genetically engineered and patented.
They did not achieve that goal mainly becasue of one person, Arpad Puzstai whose research confirmed the dangers of GMOs to human health.
Besides Arpad nobody else was talking about the dangers of GMOs to human health and so Jeffrey's main task then, and still is today, is to discredit the biotech industry and to make the public aware of the dangers of GMOs.
This episode is about how Jeffrey has spent the last 25 years doing exactly that and the stories surrounding his efforts.

Gene editing is a new form of creating genetically engineered crops, and it is cheap and it is easy. This means that the number of GMOs that could be introduced, not only into our food supply, but into the environment, can be catastrophically large.
One crtical issue with GMOs, including genetic editing, is that it is prone to side effects. The biotech industry wants to pretend that gene editing is safe and predictable and just like breeding, and they've convinced governments, in some cases, to turn a blind eye.
In this episode Jeffrey will share with you the real truth about gene editing and the seven reasons why things can go wrong in the process.

In this episode, Jeffrey gathers with the community of Sir Richard Branson's Necker Island to give a presentation on the existentiall threat that has been brought on by GMO 2.0.
Some of the points he covers:
- At this point in time we now know that 51% of Americans and 48% of the world's consumers now believe that GMO foods are unsafe. This is critical because this is the tipping point IRT has been working towards for the last 25 years.
- There are 3 main threats to heatlh in the production of GMOs that we need to be concerned with: -> The creation of GMO foods causes massive collateral damage in the DNA which can lead to allergens, toxins, carcinogens, and new diseases. -> Some GMOs are created to in order to withstand sprays of Roundup which would normally kill them. That Roundup is absorbed into the food that we eat and Roundup has been named as a probable carcinogen by the Internation Agency for Reasearch on Cancer (IARC) -> There are certain types of GMO corn that produce a toxin that will kill insects when they eat the corn. We eat this toxin when we eat the GMO corn and this toxin has been known to poke holes in human cells which can lead to leaky gut.
- The outright lies, deception and rigged research that Monsanto/Bayer has committed over the past decades in order to change public policy at the FDA in favor of GMO foods.
- With new technologies such as CRISPR, gene editing has become easy and cheap to perform. With these technologies readilly available a high school science student could create an organism that could wipe out species.
- And much more.

In addition, he also tells the frightening story of Arpad Pusztai, the scientist and leading researcher in his field who was fired and had a gag order placed on him for revealing the science on the dangers of GMOs. In today's episode Jeffrey dives into the absolute corruption of science and scientists when Monsanto first released Roundup for widespread use. In the early studies submitted by Monsanto in 1985 the EPA clearly saw in an IARC report that rodents exposed to low doses of Roundup were developing some tumors and developing more tumors with higher doses. The EPA and IARC wanted to label it as a possible carcinogen. This was not the end for Monsanto; over the course of many decades Monsanto engaged in an entire marketing campaign to discredit these studies. Included in their plan was:
- "Orchestrate Outcry"
- Industry outreach to media.social media
- Third-party experts blog, op/ed, tweet, link, repost, retweet, etc.
- Use front groups
- Have grower associations write to regulators
- Opinion leader write letter to daily newspaper on day of IARC ruling
- Ghost write or inspire supporting research papers
And so much more, including paying off scientists and EPA executives like Jess Rowland.

Jeffrey Smith, the leading spokesperson concerning the dangers of genetically engineered food and microbes, is interviewed by Claude Mayers.
The latest imprecise technology of gene-editing is discussed, which is part of what Mr. Smith calls “GMO 2.0.” Resulting mutant microbes and toxic foods threatening our health and that of the planet, are delineated. Cancer-causing chemical poison glyphosate (main ingredient in “Roundup”), sprayed a few days pre-harvest on currently non-GMO wheat, oats, garbanzo beans, etc., without any labelling/indication for the consumer. In addition, it is also sprayed on GMO “Roundup Ready” crops like corn, canola, soy, cottonseed (many of you eat this as an oil that is part of your baked products.
The benefits of organic food to avoid these dangers, and heal those adversely affected by their GMO-laden diet, are offered. The cheap availability of gene-editing kits like CRISPR costing as little as $169 for home use, or in high school science classes, then the resulting microbes randomly produced, being flushed down the drain to disperse into our water, soil, and air, is also revealed.

In today's episode Jeffrey is asked about his concerns with GMO salmon and GMO fish, in general, and also about his concerns with other chemicals like Agent Orange and Dicamba which are being sprayed throughout the world.
Some of the scientific studies that have been done on GMO salmon have both contained rigged research and have shown that if salmon were to escape into our oceans it is possible that a population crash could occur. The GMO salmon have been shown to actually attack and decimate existing populations of natural born salmon when food supplies get low.
Additionally, in earlier lawsuits against Monsanto and BASF, the creators of the herbicide, Dicamba, it was found that Dicamba naturally floats up off the fields and can contaminate neighboring farms. It was revealed that this contamination of neighboring farms was actually part of the marketing strategy of these companies.
In one of these lawsuits the jury was so angry at these companies that they awarded a peach farmer $265 million in damages; $250 million of which was punitive.

In this episode we get a sneak peak inside a Truth About Health conference where Jeffrey speaks about, among other things, his discussions with Monsanto/Bayer scientists who negate the science when asked about safety concerns with Genetic Engineering.
He also talks about the tragedy that occurred in India when Monsanto pushed their GM cotton seeds onto innocent farmers promising massive yields. What happened instead is that after planting the seeds in their fields the cotton plants died and the large yields never manifested.
Many of the farmers took out loans to purchase the seeds and after the failure many lost their land. Rather than face the prospect of public shame and failure about 250,000 farmers committed suicide.

In today's episode Jeffrey is asked the question, "What is the future going to look like? How can we avoid the depletion of real food?" Jeffrey discusses some of the real issues that are facing us and that there is hope for us because many things are changing. Organic and non-GMO foods are becoming more popular, and half of those surveyed said they believe that GMO foods are dangerous.

In this episode Jeffrey continues his appearance on the Real Truth About Health conference and discusses RNA interference which allows the reprogramming of gene expression. RNA Interference is already being used in the production of the Arctic Apple which will not turn brown if you slice it. The genetic engineers add a piece of RNA to the apple that finds its DNA counterpart and silences that DNA expression.
We know from research on mammals, insects, others that that double stranded RNA that silences that stretch of DNA can also theoretically, silence ours. So if you bite that apple and that double stranded RNA starts circulating in our system, it might find a match.

What could destroy us is half-truths. Tragically, when a coalition of US non-profits proposed a framework for responsible regulation of gene editing, they got it only half right. What they got wrong could be devastating for health and the planet. The article was authored by groups including the Environmental Defense Fund, National Wildlife Federation, The Nature Conservancy, and the World Wildlife Fund. To the uninitiated, their words sounded reasonable and measured. After all, they correctly acknowledged that gene-edited products should not be considered as safe as conventional foods and crops. The process can lead to serious side effects.
But when it came time to spell out what regulators should actually do, the coalition played right into the hands of the biotech spin machine.
It’s important for people to understand these issues, otherwise a sensible-sounding policy could lead to disaster.

We of course would like that extended to a ban completely on all customers and all around the world. But this is a good start. And it's because they fear lawsuits because of the loss of three consecutive trials, where plaintiffs with non-Hodgkin lymphoma sued successfully and won against Bayer/Monsanto.
- France fined Monsanto 400,000 euros. That's about $473,000 for acquiring data on journalists and activists.
- Genetic engineering is not particularly a good solution for problems that very often non-GMO solutions are better and less expensive. We now have one for non-GMO malaria control.

Last December, Mexico adopted a full ban on all imports of glyphosate, herbicides and all GMO corn. Recently Ken interviewed the vice minister of agriculture in Mexico, Victor Suarez, who is now looking to import ONLY non-GMO corn into Mexico. Recently, Bayer released their 2020 financial statements to the public and in those statements they ignore the liabilities that Roundup can have on their financial well being. Roundup is 125 times more toxic than glyphosate alone and can lead to a whole host of diseases that can be linked to the use of Roundup. This week Jeffrey shares the results of a recent poll that showed, among other things, that 48% of people worldwide believe that genetically modified foods will mostly harm them during the next 20 years, while only 21% say that GMOs will mostly help. This is outstanding. Despite the billions of dollars that are being made by the biotech companies and the hundreds of millions they have spent to try and convince the world that GMOs were safe and would feed the world, we have prevailed in sharing the truth. This is a Gallup Poll conducted in the second half of 2019, just released. It's called the World Risk Poll.

In this episode Jeffrey shares with you the talk that he gave at The Great Awakening Summit which is happening October 24th and 25th, 2020. In this episode Jeffrey discusses a recent study by John Fagan and Larry Bohlen and the Health Research Institute in Fairfield, Iowa. This studied shows that switching to an organic diet for just one week will significantly decrease the levels of glyphosate in your body. And most importantly, within just 3 days glyphosate levels in test subjects dropped by 70%!

The South Florida/Keys mosquito control board is planning to vote on August 18th to allow for the release of 500,000,000 genetically modified mosquitoes as a mosquito abatement campaign.
The stated purpose of the release is to reduce the population of a small subset of natural mosquitoes by causing their female larvae to die. But based on past releases of mosquitoes by the same company, Oxitec, their technology probably won’t work at all.
Furthermore, even though Oxitec claimed that its mosquitoes would simply die out after the experiment was over, studies proved them wrong. They permanently altered the genetic makeup of natural mosquitoes, which could have serious consequences for health and the environment.

In today's episode of Live Healthy Be Well Jeffrey discusses the stunning new ruling by the Appeals Court in the Lee Johnson case against Monsanto. Lee Johnson was the first plaintiff to sue Monsanto for Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Lee was a groundskeeper for the Benicia School District in the Bay area in California, and he came down with terminal Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma as a result of daily use of Roundup. They rushed his case to court so he could get justice before he dies. And Monsanto, which is now owned by Bayer has been saying all along that science is on their side, that the juries were just moved by emotional arguments and that science will win the day. This is what the Appeals Court said this week: "In our view, Johnson presented abundant and certainly substantial evidence that glyphosate together with other ingredients in Roundup products caused his cancer." Listen as Jeffrey breaks down the argument in this landmark case.

In an expensive clean-up of Monsanto litigation messes, Bayer AG said Wednesday that it will pay out more than $10 billion to settle tens of thousands of U.S. claims brought against Monsanto over its Roundup herbicide, as well as $400 million to resolve lawsuits over Monsanto’s dicamba herbicide and $650 million for PCB pollution claims.
The resolutions come two years after Bayer bought Monsanto for $63 billion and almost immediately saw share prices plummet due to the Roundup liability.

Jeffrey Smith gives us an overview of the disasters of the CRISPR gene editing tool that have come to light recently. An up to date report came out about a completely botched attempt to genetically engineer human embryos.
