Joe is a proud Wiradjuri/Wolgalu, First Nations Aboriginal man born in Cowra, raised in Wagga NSW, Australia. Joe played in the National Rugby League for South Sydney Rabbitohs, Penrith Panthers and Canterbury Bulldogs before switching Joe to professional Boxing in 2009. Joe is a 2x WBF World Jnr Welterweight champion and recently won the WBC Asia Continental Title. Although forging a successful professional sporting career, Joe battled the majority of his life with suicidal ideation and Bi Polar Disorder. After a suicide attempt in 2012, Joe felt his purpose was to help people who struggle with mental illness. Through customised workshops Joe talks of dealing with adversities, struggles, resilience, addiction, connection, emotional wellbeing & healing trauma in schools, communities, correctional services, sporting clubs and workplaces.

Karens Words - I have a passion for assisting women to be, do and have all they can. I have dedicated my adult life to learning all the skills I could to help me heal, learn and grow to a level where I can now give back to others and help more women change their lives. I have a background in Mentoring, Counselling, Training, Program Development and I love running programs that help change peoples lives.

I teach what I wished was available to me back when I was struggling to figure out how my life got so bad, and more importantly, what was I going to do to change it. I knew I had to change myself first before anything else could change. So I set out on what turned out to be my life purpose, to find tools, skills and gain experience in mind body and spirit transformation. I have a Diploma in Counselling, Grad Cert Indigenous Trauma and Recovery Practice, Masters Indigenous Health and I am currently completing my PhD at the University of Canberra. I have developed the Flashlight Trauma Program which allows you to shine a light on your trauma and gain tools for healing, that are right for you.

Dr Bridie O’Donnell is one deadly woman and is a woman who leads by example and works hard to bring others along the journey with her. In this episode we discuss self leadership, how empathy can allows to empower others to change their behaviour and a little about Bridie journey.

Dr Bridie O’Donnell graduated as Valedictorian from the University of Queensland Medical School and won the J R S Lahz Prize for Most Outstanding Intern at the Mater Hospitals in Brisbane in 1999. Between 2000 and 2006 she was a rower and then an Ironman triathlete, and finished the Ironman Hawaii World Championships in 2006. In 2007, she began road cycling and shortly after won the National Time Trial title, and placed on the podium in 12 Australian and Oceania Championships between 2008 and 2016. From 2008 to 2012 she raced in the Australian National Team, and then Professional Italian teams in Europe and the United States, representing Australia at three World Championships. She went on to manage and race in a top women's national cycling team and is also a seven-time national rowing champion. As a physician at the Epworth Hospital, Bridie was also a leading voice in the medical community using her unique background in medicine and sport to empower and inspire female cancer patients to improve their health and wellbeing through motivational behaviour change and exercise. Bridie returned to full time work in 2013, starting at Epworth HealthCheck and teaching doctor-patient communication at Deakin University Medical School. In 2014, Bridie took on a role as a breast physician at the Epworth Breast Service. Here her work involved reviewing long term breast cancer patients and counselling them about exercise, weight control and preventing recurrence of breast cancer. Her particular clinical interests lie in using her skills in motivational interviewing and behaviour change to improve the health and wellbeing of her patients. This includes exercise prescription, nutritional advice, mindfulness techniques and routine follow up to encourage sustained and positive behaviour change. From 2013 to 2016, Bridie managed and raced for Rush Women’s Team, a National Road Series cycling team in Australia, coordinating commercial sponsors, team owners, riders and race organisers to successes and race wins over four seasons. In 2016, she became the first Australian woman to make an attempt on the UCI World Hour record in 15 years, and broke the National record, the Masters record and set a new world record of 46.882km at the Adelaide Superdrome. In November 2017, Bridie was appointed the inaugural Director of the Office for Women in Sport and Recreation by the Victorian Government. In her role, Bridie has been integral in promoting and enforcing the messages of the Office of Women in Sport and Recreation.

Bianca Hunt is a Gumbaynngirr Woman, she was born and raised on Barkindji and Latji Latji country. She moved to Dharawal country also known as the Illawarra, over a decade ago. Bianca was a teen parent, the first in her family to complete year 12 and attend university, she is also a single mum of seven kids aged between 9-21. Her passion is building partnerships and connections within the community, to address issues of Suicide, Domestic Violence, Philanthropy, Education, Inter-generational trauma, and Juvenile Justice. She previously worked in the Home and Community Care sector for seven years and currently works at Lifeline and TAFE NSW. Her Lifeline South Coast work has provided extensive experience in crisis and suicide prevention as a Crisis Support Supervisor, Corporate and Community QPR Suicide Awareness Trainer, Volunteer Accredited Telephone Crisis Supporter and Project Officer. Her passion to engage and consult with community, has led to the tailoring of suicide awareness training to support and raise awareness of the needs of our marginalized, high risk communities. Her TAFE NSW work in the Counselling, Youth and Mental health sector has provided the opportunity to teach the units Promoting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Safety, Working with diverse people and Working with people with mental health needs. Bianca was part of the Illawarra International Women’s Day panel 2020, University of Wollongong Philanthropy and Collective giving panel 2019 and Ambassador for the UOW Equity Phone Appeal 2018, JCI Australia National Convention 2017, UOW Future Leaders Keynote Speaker 2016. She has experience as a Keynote Speaker, UOW Advancement and TAFE NSW Ambassador, volunteered in various roles including the UOW Coffee for a Cause and JCI ‘Let’s Do It’ clean up Australia initiatives. She is also an advocate for the community and part of the Lifeline South Coast Reconciliation Action Plan working group. Since 2017 she has been an active member of the Illawarra Junior Chamber International and was elected as the Vice President of the Illawarra JCI Board 2020. A board member of the Illawarra Aboriginal Base Working Group 2020. She is in her penultimate year of University, completing a degree in psychology and criminology at UOW. Bianca looks forward to future opportunities that encompass Vision, Integrity and Purpose.

A strong Dunghutti woman born in Tweed Heads, New South Wales, Sam Harris grew up in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. Her mother is an Indigenous Australian member of the Stolen Generations, originally of the Dunghutti tribe, and her father is of German and English descent. She attended Tweed River High School. Sam started her career as an Australian model at the tender age of 11 as a very shy young girl (in her own words). Her mum always had faith that she would grace the cover of Girlfriend. She has traveled to New York, graced the cover of Vogue and so much in between. She shares with us the challenges of her journey and the wisdom she has gained from relentlessly pursuing her dreams and never giving up. Now Sam, in between traveling and being busy working. Also makes time to speak in schools and community sharing her journey and wisdom.
