“What’s It Like?” This will be a weekly feature of a trailblazing and passionate person sharing their truth.
We are people who go to work every day and follow our passions. I really want to showcase people who are going against the grain of society’s norm. I want to feature people who love what they do and keep trying no matter how high the odds are stacked against us. I also want to showcase individuals who share their personal journeys. The truth is we are all unique and have stories to share.
Christina Mesa is a recent graduate from Boston college with a Masters in clinical social work. She plans on working in the mental health field as a clinician/therapist and eventually open up her own practice. She decided to get an MSW because of her passion for mental health and after noticing that a lot of the issues she dealt with stemmed from the fact that She wasn’t taking care of herself mentally. Mental health is something that is very foreign for a lot of people, including the Indian community, and she wanted to be the one to bridge that gap. Christins is happy to share her experience so far in the mental health field and looks forward to this chat!
What’s It Like to Be a Mother? Persis is the proud mother of two and is an associate director of a global clinical trial. She alone was able to bring her entire family from India to America. Being a mother means to be self sacrificing but an immigrant mother takes self sacrifice to a whole new level. She is my closest friend and the strongest woman I know. Meet Rachel C.
Rachel works as a Communications Manager with an International Disaster Relief Organization. I’m based in Juba, South Sudan. She has been there for 10 months and counting.
As a Communications Manager, she works as the communications bridge between our humanitarian work and our international headquarters. She helps write and share stories about the impact that the organization is able to make in a very depraved and broken country that is struggling to stand on its feet after years of war. This helps with providing accountability to our donors for their sacrificial giving.
