From time to time there might even be a pearl of wisdom or funny story that you pick up. Maybe you'll even learn something.

Impressed by his performance at Arroyo Seco Weekend, Jonathan picked up a copy of Kamasi Washington's The Epic to play here on Deep Cuts. We listen to a good chunk of that record, plus more grab bag picks thrown in, from Thievery Corporation to Ty Segall.
Jonathan serves up smooth-flowing jams perfect for a night of summertime easy listening. He takes you through some of The Police and Robert Palmer before dipping into Vampire Weekend and local band Soul Beacons, then straight into the reggae vibe with Lee Perry and Bob Marley.

Jeff stops by for another fun themed show today. He, Richard, and Jonathan join forces to present power pop in its many forms, from its roots to the classics and influenced. We hear from Big Star, The Kinks, The Flamin' Groovies, and move into The Cars, Television, and more.
Jeff, the San Juan Record Man himself, returns to the show with another flawlessly curated collection of tunes. This time he brings a selection of world music, focusing on fusions with rock and jazz, ranging from Exuma and Sandy Bull to Fela Kuti and Gábor Szabó.
James Pribram, founder of the ECO-Warrior Foundation, pro surfer and KXFM DJ, stops by the studio today. They spin Talking Heads, Stone Temple Pilots, and The Replacements, and talk surfing, music, cleaning up the beach, and what's really important in life.
Richard pays tribute to his late brother and their musical upbringing by playing some of his brother's beloved records from their childhood. The holy trinity was The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, and of course The Beatles. But the rock continues with The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Crosby, Stills, & Nash, and The Who, before getting into the folk, singer-songwriter years.
The boys decide to celebrate Bowie around his birthday with two of his records: first, Cracked Actor, the live record from Santa Monica in 1974, and then we rock out to Station to Station. Next up is some Chemical Brothers, and we close it out with Eric Clapton.
Special guest Luke is in town from New York, so Jonathan picks some east coast legends to play. This means Talking Heads, Springsteen, Jason Isbell, and Blondie mixed up with The Go-Go's and Graham Parker.
Deadtober's first birthday continues with Grateful Dead's archivist, David Lemieux. Caroline joins as well to spin more records and tell more Dead tales.

“Bookends” are a fun idea we’ve developed on Deep Cuts. They are two successive albums in a group’s discography that effectively join together to carry on a theme the artist may be exploring, such as a new sound or lyrical concept. Today we analyze the bookends of Radiohead: The Bends and OK Computer. Richard brings in his virgin German import pressings from the original master tapes for the occasion.
It was time to get the Led out. And get the Led out, Jonathan and Richard truly did. Tonight, they track the evolution of Zeppelin’s sound across the iconic 1970s trilogy of albums: Houses of the Holy, Physical Graffiti, and Presence. Don’t forget to play it loud.
