More than 13 years ago Dmitry Vostokov was looking for a pattern language to analyse software traces and logs, and communicate analysis results. He didn't find anything existing, and being an avid reader, started a long fruitful journey of a vast multidisciplinary research.

Harry Brundage worked closely with the CTO at Shopify scaling it from only a few thousand merchants to powering the biggest flash sales on the internet, but something inspired him to make a huge change. He's passionate about building the same high quality engineering experience and platform, which led him to start Gadget in 2020.

Maria Elijah started learning programming languages such as Python, etc. during her undergraduate study. She wasn't specific about her career path until she went for an internship program at an IT firm, where she got to work with developers; one of which was a Flutter developer. He gave her an overview of the Flutter framework. She then did her research, loved it, took a course, and started writing codes for any app design she could find online. She discovered that coding naturally became easy.

Daphnie Ozioma graduated from university in Nigeria with a focus on microbiology in 2018, but after graduation, she decided to attend a coding bootcamp instead and become a program manager. When she got there, Daphnie discovered there was no PM tutor, so she opted for web development where she learned the basics of HTML and CSS. For her mandatory National Youth Service Corps in November 2019. Daphnie applied as a developer to Flexisaf (an EduTech company) for her service year and she got retained as a junior developer afterwards.

One of the first books that Chris Huie fell in love with was "...a story about a rogue economist" called Freakanomics. In it was a beautiful framework for how to approach problems and that mentality would lay the foundation for Chris's future. He would go on to study finance and end up having decently fast-paced career in business and finance. However, the zero-sum mentality that had served him well in the business world didn't feel natural. Open-source is the mental counter-point to zero-sum.

There wasn't much to do other than doodle, play with wooly worms, and pretend all branches were divining rods. With calligraphy, Sam found a style where his aspirations push against limitations.

Public speaking horrified Sage Elliott. But he accepted a role where it would be a core part of the job anyway. Before teaching his first workshop, he thought "What will people think of me? I'm in no place to teach this subject!". His heart was a bit more harsh thinking" You're going to die!" but after teaching the first event Sage did not die.
