Listen to the weekly Sunday morning messages shared at Calvary Chapel Cape Cod in Yarmouth Massachusetts.
The Process of Sanctification, it's just that, a process that takes a lifetime and even death to perfect!
Is Jesus worth all your worship or is He a waste of time? How do we approach Jesus? Is it with a desire to get things from Him, or to give of our best to Him, because of Him? Oh if we can see the beauty of the cross. Oh how magnificent Jesus would appear to us? Let me ask again, is Jesus worthy of your worship or is He a waste of time? Does our life reflect our response?
The Lord is going to show us a contrast between 2 people. Each of them does a value analysis of the Savior & each of them responds to who Jesus is very differently. One will worship Him and have eyes only for Jesus, while the other person sees Jesus as a means to an end, when that end is no longer in sight, he considers Jesus a waste, and sells his soul for silver!
The Evil Plot, Religious leaders plan to kill Jesus, but not during the Passover The Anointing, the woman does something unthinkable & draws criticism from the people around her. She doesn’t seem phased in the least. She worships with “reckless abandon” The Betrayal, it won’t be an outsider, or an obvious enemy of Jesus’ that will betray Him, but 1 of the 12, of the inside core. Someone respected, who appears to be a super holy, moral, giving guy, someone you would never expect will betray Jesus, and it was all part of Gods perfect plan!
Has anyone ever asked you, "Why did Jesus come anyway?", and you just didn't have a clear, concise answer? We all have if we are honest. Today we are going to hear from the Man Himself. Jesus is stepping in to tell us why He came, what was the purpose of it all.. to Serve and pay the Ransom fee for our lives... so we can be free slaves for Christ!
What was Jesus mission? Why did He come to earth? In Mark 8, now that they claim to know who He is. Jesus takes His disciples deeper, explaining what He came to do... To suffer, be rejected,, killed, and rise again. If you want to follow Jesus, there is a cost, but the cost of not following Him is far far far greater! Being a disciple fo Christ means we elevate Jesus, put Him before us in all our priorities & therefore, practices. It involves denial of self, suffering like the cross & crucifixion, and really following JESUS. Doing what He does, going where He goes, hearing His voice above all else. Are we constantly seeking to please mankind, and gain worldly approval, being let down, anxious, or depressed? Perhaps we have things upside down. Seek Jesus, and all He is...and find peace!
Questions are a great way to communicate. Questions open our minds and hearts to certain realities. There are many questions to life, and in life. ONE QUESTION stands out in time, for all eternity in fact. Jesus asks his disciples the same question He asks us today, the greatest question ever asked.... & our answer determines the rest of our personal eternity!!!
Leviticus.... The way TO God & The way WITH God. God is a holy God, but we are unholy. So what do you do? Nothing! Jesus has done it all! He is the perfect Lamb, sacrifice for our sin. We go deep, when we trust in Him!
Prayer is a one of the most wonderful gifts of having peace with God through Jesus Christ. It's so much more than petitions and requests. Though it can involve that as well, PRAYER is at it's most significant, when Prayer shifts from want we want from God to simply being with God. There, in His presence is found all we have ever longed for. There, in His arms is where the peace of God can become peace WITH God, if we would just-let-go and fall into Him. But "I don't see Him, how can I talk with Him".... Faith with substance, Praying in faith says "God I can not see you, but I know I have many more senses in this body beyond just sight, let me use them to commune with you now". Praying in Faith, says God I JUST WANT YOU!
