A beginner's 5-minute guided meditation, using the counting backwards from 49 method. Enjoy 4 parts that progressively become more challenging (meaning I give fewer reminders to come back to the breath). May you find peace, clarity, and calmness in feeling and following the breath, your old friend, who is always there for you!
Love and light, Maro
PART 1: 3 reminders to come back to the breath
PART 2: 2 reminders to come back to the breath
PART 3: 1 reminder to come back to the breath
PART 4: No reminders
DETAILS: A 4-part series of 5-minute guided meditations that progressively challenge you to stay with the experience of breathing in the present moment. Each part offers guidance and support to help you arrive and stay with the breath and gradually becomes harder with fewer reminders. The last guided meditation (part 4) provides some instruction in the beginning but then encourages you to feel and follow the breath on your own, without any reminders to come back. This series was designed for those that have taken my Intro to Meditation Workshop, but of course, anyone can try them.
TOOL FOR THE MIND: Erich Schiffmann’s counting backwards from 49 method
→ Inhale count 49, exhale count 48
→ Inhale count 47, exhale count 46
→ Inhale count 45, exhale count 44 ….
Continue like this to 20...
→ Inhale 21, Exhale 20 Then drop counting the inhale
→ Inhale feel the breath, exhale feel the breath, count 19
→ Inhale feel the breath, exhale feel the breath, count 18 ...Continue like this to 0.
Once you get to 0 see how well you can stay with the breath without the counting method. If your mind wanders away, bring it back to the breath and start back at 49.
OTHER GUIDED MEDITATIONS: Don't like this particular technique? That's ok, try one of my other 4-part guided meditation series: noting with words or counting from 1-10. Do what works for you!

TOOL FOR THE MIND: Use words when feeling and following the breath “inhaling, exhaling” “breathing in, breathing out” “in, out.” Or you can choose your own words.

Get out of the thinking mind during times of stress and come into the feeling body. This guided meditation, starting at the crown of the head and ending with the toes, allows you to feel and hold space for any sensations in your body in the present moment. Enjoy! :)

In this recording, I guide you through a basic meditation session where the focus of your attention is on the sensations of breathing. I provide detailed instructions on how to sit, how to find and stay on the breath, and what to do when the mind wanders. I guide you through the majority of the meditation session and towards the end invite you to practice staying focused on the breath on your own, beginning at 30 seconds and then working up to 1 full min. I hope this helps you connect with your inner observer with the goal of finding inner peace. Enjoy! Maro
