There are many titles given to Jesus. In this message we look at what it means that Jesus is a wonderful counselor.
The first one to reach out is always God. He so loved the world that He gave His only Son. When Jesus walked on this earth, He extended grace to every person He met. We who follow Jesus are to love people as He does. Every disciple carries the best news in human history. Our calling is to share the love and Gospel of Jesus freely, in the power of the Spirit. As we partner with the Savior, He draws people to Himself, and He alone receives the glory.
God exists in a perfect, eternal, trinitarian community. Jesus made relationships a priority when He walked on this earth, and He called His disciples to live in a consistent loving community. When we walk in loving fellowship with God and each other, the world will see that we have what their hearts long for. This draws people toward the only one who can heal their hearts, bind their wounds, and satisfy their hunger to belong.
Jesus gave all He had and all He was for us. With divine generosity, He left glory, came to earth, took our sins, and died in our place. Now He calls His disciples to walk in His footsteps. As we give with generous and joy-filled hearts, the world can see a picture of God’s love. Joyful generosity captures the attention of a world possessed by possessions and shows them there is something (or someone) infinitely more valuable.
Jesus left the glory of heaven and came to serve us with His own life. His disciples joyfully serve their Savior, His church, and the world He loves. When we care like Jesus, the world sees a vision of the servant Savior and is willing to hear our stories of who Jesus is and how He loves.
Our God is worthy of worship! Disciples find delight in giving praise, glory, and honor to the only one who deserves it. When we grow in faith, worship flows from our hearts and lips. Every experience of life can be a place for worshiping in Spirit and in truth. When the world sees Christians who celebrate the goodness of God, overflow with joy, and walk in humble surrender, they become curious.
Jesus was in constant communication with His father and prayed for His followers and for those who were still wandering far from God. We can live with an intimate connection with God. As we grow in this spiritual marker, we will find ourselves praying for others.
The Bible is the Holy Spirit-breathed truth of heaven. Jesus is the Living Word of God, and while He walked this earth, He loved the written Word. He knew, quoted it, and let the Scriptures speak. As His followers, we need to know, love, and follow what the Bible says.
Discipleship and Evangelism are two undeniable commands from Jesus (see Matthew 28). In fact, they are so interconnected that one should always lead to the other. We will explore the multi-generational nature of discipleship and identify 7 markers of spiritual growth.
Everyone goes through good times, and bad times. We all have conflicts with other people at times. We see the same thing in the early church. In this message, we also see how they processed through these issues.
