Welcome to The Anchor: Calvary Chapel San Pedro. Our founding verse is Hebrews 6:19 which says, “This hope we have as an anchor for the soul, both sure and steadfast.”
We believe that there is hope in Jesus Christ because He is the steadfast anchor of our souls.
Our vision for this ministry is to be anchored in Jesus and reflecting His grace. This means that through the solid teaching of God’s Word we will know Jesus and be secure in the knowledge that He alone holds us in His hands.
When we know Jesus we then should be known for the grace that we share with each other and in our community.

A call to the Church for a time of prayer and fasting to move the mountains that are blocking our prayers and hindering salvation in those we know need Christ.
Our Palm Sunday message. Jesus enters Jerusalem on the prophetic day that was chosen before the foundation of the earth. We tie Daniel 9 to Matthew 21 and the triumphal entry. Dangerous doctrines were creeping into the church and Paul warns them not to turn away from the Gospel that they were taught, but to stay strong and stay the course.
Jesus said to pick up your cross and follow Him. The world wants you to go after all it has, but in the end you will lose your soul. Jesus wants you to lose your life for His sake so that in the end you will have Him...for all of eternity!
What is our hope? It is in Jesus Christ alone - the Savior God and Redeemer of Man. We are sealed by His Spirit unto the day of our redemption...this is the hope that guides us home.
Jesus said He would build His Church. How would He do it? What would it look like? Who would lead it?
In his concluding remarks, the Apostle Paul exhorts and encourages the church to examine themselves to see if they are in Christ. This is a good reminder for many, but can be a sober admonishment for others.
Jesus is asks the disciples who do they think He is. Peter is bold enough to respond. Do you know who Jesus is? Will you be bold enough to declare it when you are asked?
The Pharisees and Saducees had developed a long list of customs and traditions, that had turned into commandments designed to prevent the common person from being able to worship God. Jesus destroys their traditions with the Word of God in this encounter.
How persistent are we in our prayers for God to save? How determined are we in our prayers for Jesus to speak to us and heal us emotionally, physically, and spiritually? How committed are we in our prayers for God to bring revival? Some lessons gleaned from these verses can help align our hearts with the will of God as we pray. (Note: This was a unique time of worship after the message...God showed up in power and brought many of us to our knees)
Jesus feeds 5,000 proving that He can provide for every man, woman, and child's needs. But do you believe Jesus can provide for you?
Jesus walks on water and Peter is emboldened with great faith to do the same - but great faith quickly turned to great fear. What happened and how can we avoid the same weakness? Has Jesus asked you to get out of the boat?
Paul has lovingly and gracefully taught the Corinthians many things, but now he must cover the dangers of allowing false teachers and poisonous doctrines into the Church. Unfortunately, we must name names sometimes when we deal with these passages.

Jesus finishes the Kingdom Parables with an astounding word about how much He loves us and pursued us to be His unique treasure and precious bride. This message is a great reminder of God's love for His people.
Jesus continues in the kingdom parables with a very sobering look at the reality of this world - God has allowed the wheat and the tares to grow together and He will separate them at the time of harvest and not before then. Are you prepared for the harvest?
Paul teaches us how to live godly and holy lives, separate from the world we live in, yet effective for bringing others to Christ.

Jesus is accused of working for the Devil by the Pharisees, but His response is brilliant. How can a kingdom divided against itself stand? How can a soul remain divided on whether or not to believe Jesus is the Savior or deny Him and be cast from His presence?

Jesus is questioned by those with doubts about Who He is. His response should remove all doubts even to this day! Praise Jesus that we can know that He is Lord and Savior.
What does it mean to confess Christ before men in order that He would confess men before the Father? It is important to know what it means to live a life that confess Jesus as the Lord.
Jesus sends the apostles out with power and authority to preach the Gospel of the kingdom. However, He warns them of the opposition that will come when His Name is lifted up. Have you counted the cost of following Jesus?
As Jesus looked out upon the people He was moved with compassion because they were weary and scattered, like sheep without a shepherd. Jesus wanted us to know that we must have this same compassion for others if we want to reach them for His Kingdom.
Jesus came to make all things new - not just restore the old. His grace changes everything!
Jesus is ever available to forgive sin because He alone is the Savior God. There is no need to carry the burden of guilt for our sins. All we must do is believe that Jesus is God, that He alone can save and forgive sin, and we will be set free.
Paul's final words to the Corinthians yields much treasure for us. Love is the supreme manifestation of the Christian and the world will know us by our love for one another.

Jesus died for our sins according to the Scriptures; Jesus was buried and He rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures. This is our secure hope for salvation.
Jesus is with you in the midst of the storm. If it seems like He is sleeping, relax because He is relaxed.
Jesus comes down from the mountain to touch the people. He encounters great and desperate faith...do we have the kind of faith that stops Jesus and makes Him marvel?
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the hinge that holds the door of Christianity open and makes our hope available. Jesus came to die for our sins, and the sins of the whole world, but Jesus also had to rise from the grave, or we are not really saved from sin because His sacrificial death was not sufficient. As you will see…if He did not rise, then we are in big trouble.
Jesus ends the Sermon on the Mount with some very challenging words. How do we enter through the narrow gate and avoid hearing the most dreadful words in the universe ("Depart from Me, I never knew you")? We must listen to Him, put our faith in Him, and build our foundation on Him.
Paul gets down to the core problem in the church at Corinth - abuse of the gifts of the Spirit. In this message we look at proper use of the gifts and how we are to conduct ourselves during church gatherings. (Note this is a long message; had to keep the context)
Jesus continues His teaching on how to conduct ourselves as citizens of His kingdom. Chapter 7 teaches us how to and how not to judge. The Father is a righteous judge, but we must not forget that He is also a good Father to His children.

The Lord's Prayer Pt.1 - Jesus teaches us how to serve, act, and pray as children of God, then He teaches us how to be blessed as we enter into the presence of Almighty God and offer up our prayers.
Jesus teaches us what it really means to follow Him...even though that means persecution in many forms. This lesson will challenge you to ask, "Am I really living it?"
Paul teaches us a great lesson on how we ought to live as followers of Christ. Using the examples of the Old Testament of Israel's disobedience, Paul shows us how not to fail and the importance of imitating Jesus in our daily lives.
The Law was meant to point men TOWARDS God - the additions by religious men worked to turn men FROM God. Jesus Christ came AS God to fulfill the Law's demands on sin that we could never meet. Jesus loves you and has paid the penalty by bearing the yoke of the Law so you don't have to!
The church at Corinth was proud and boasting about their rights to live in any manner they wanted, not caring if they stumbled their brothers and sisters with their liberties. Paul will make some corrections to their thinking...we are all free in Christ, but we must not forget that we were bought with a price!

The church at Corinth thought they had it all going on, but they had compromised and were happy to be comfortable not offending the lost. Paul had to remind them the cost of following Jesus. This is a very timely message for the Church today...
John preached a message of repentance and the people responded with humble hearts and were baptized. The religious leaders wanted in, but did not want to shed their false, pious, and empty traditions. Jesus does not want religious service - He wants truth in the innermost parts.
Paul had a lot to say to the church at Corinth, but their childish behavior kept them on the bottle when they needed to transition to meat. Are you a baby Christian? Are you still on the bottle? Are you ready for the solid spiritual food? God wants for you to be mature and healthy. Find out how in this lesson.
Too many in the world today, and in the church, want all the honey, but not the locusts. Too much sweet will make you sick and not enough protein will make you sicker. Jesus came and preached with a perfect balance of Grace and Truth. The honey is sweet (Grace) and the locust is hard to swallow (Truth). This lesson does not sugar-coat it my friends.

As Jacob comes to the end of his days he recounts the faithfulness of God as the Shepherd who has led him all of his days. What a blessing when we realize that Jesus has been leading us home through every trial and every season.
Joseph has revealed himself to his brothers and has revealed that it was all God's plan. Now he must get the family, and his father Jacob, down to Egypt in order to survive the famine.
"Be still and know that I am God" - words of comfort no doubt, but how can we really sit still in the midst of trials and challenges? The psalmist gives us a very powerful lesson in how to rest in our God.
The exciting climax to Joseph's reuniting with his family. What his brothers meant for evil was actually God's plan all along to save His people from death by famine.
Joseph meets his brothers, but they do not recognize him...yet. A reconciliation is in the making, but a reckoning comes first.
Joseph finds himself in prison and felling forsaken, but God had not forgotten him. God's timing is perfect as Joseph would soon find out.
Joseph was brought down to Egypt and sold as a slave, but God had plans to mold and shape him into a wise and strong leader who would eventually save his people. We look at the sovereign way that God moves upon the hearts of men and nations to accomplish His will.
Jacob's story ends and Joseph's story begins. Join us as we look at the life and trials of Joseph. His brothers were indeed cruel, but God will be lifted up even in the midst of Joseph's darkest times.
Jacob has grown and learned to trust God, but his sons were still far from perfect. Jacob also loses his precious wife Rachel, but the Bible gives us a rather interesting insight buried into the story of her death.
Resurrection Sunday Message. The tomb is empty! He is Risen - He is risen indeed! Mary Magdalene was the first to discover the empty tomb and she was full of despair, but Jesus had risen and she was about to hear His glorious voice declare it so.

Rebekah was told by the LORD that 2 nations struggled in her womb. The twins born, Esau & Jacob) would indeed struggle for centuries and beyond.
The greatest love story ever told was when God died for the sins of the world. The love story of Isaac and Rebekah was the next step in God's eternal plan for the coming of His Son.
Abraham's legacy of faith is told as he and Sarah come to the end of their earthly days. Abraham's good testimony resulted in great blessing by those around him. What legacy have you picked up from those before you...what legacy are you leaving for those behind you?
In perhaps the ultimate picture of the testing and trying of our faith, Abraham stands out as a man who trusted God with every ounce of his heart, mind, and soul. Abraham passed the greatest and final test of his life and because he did we can also overcome all the tests and trials of our lives.
Mid-Week survey of Genesis 19-21. Sodom and Gomorrah are destroyed with Lot escaping as by fire; Abraham lies again about Sarah being his sister and finds himself in trouble; and finally the heir of Promise, Isaac, is born to Abraham and Sarah after 25 years of waiting.
Abraham lived a life of great faith...Lot lived a life of compromise. In the end he was saved, but literally as by fire. As Christians we must strive to be like Abraham...but many are content to be like Lot. Let it not be so with you!
Abraham had the blessed opportunity to pray for the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah even though God had declared that they were extremely wicked and deserving of judgment. Do you pray for God's mercy upon the wicked, or for His wrath? We can learn a great example from Abraham on how to approach this.
A survey of Genesis 15 thru 17. The birth of Ishmael and God's promise that the heir was still to come. The prophecy for Ishmael's people and how it correlates to Islam and their hatred of Israel the true heir according the Scriptures.
"Abram believed and it was accounted to him as righteousness". Faith must always proceed imputed righteousness. Belief must always proceed blessing. Join us as we look at the great faith of Abram that ultimately secured our salvation through Jesus Christ.
Praise God for the cleansing of our sins through Jesus Christ, but let's be honest...we still stumble and repentance is often a battle. In this look at Psalm 51 we unpack the secret to being restored and renewed through the deep work of the Holy Spirit.
Abram had learned his lesson from the Egypt debacle and is now content. However, his nephew Lot was not. Strife led to separation and that separation led to Lot being in a bad place when trouble came to his paradise.
Abram stumbled in his faith, but still stands as a shining example for us all to keep growing and learning as God builds our faith. God is faithful and He will carry us through our failings.
God told Abram to get up and leave everything behind and step out on faith that his future was secure. Our lives are in God's hands. Have you stepped out and begun your journey to the promised land, or have stopped and settled in half way?
"You shall call His Name Jesus because He will save His people from their sins". Jesus is the Savior God who made it possible for us to be reconciled to the Father. Join us as we look at the events surrounding His birth and the wonderful promise and saving power found in the Name of Jesus.

This message out of I KINGS 8:22-30 stems from King Solomon's prayer as the Glory of God filled the temple. God fulfills all of His promises. God is God who speaks forth His commands and then rolls up His sleeves and fulfils His Word.

The demand for justice is something that all mankind longs for, but true justice was accomplished on the Cross.
