Welcome aboard! My name is Vinny and I am a fellow admirer of cinema and video games. I wanted to start this channel so that I could track my own viewing habits and start inteligent conversations about movies and video games. This channel seeks to randomly travel through time and review different forms of media such as movies and video games. For each review I will provide you with minor plot details, the overall strangths of the work, possible weakneeses or areas of improvement and then recommend the work to a specific audience! Here at RAREE we do not use a specific rating scale and find that different movies and games lend themselves to certain aufiences and genre enthusiasts!
Today I delve into all the great aspects of the 1990 film adaptation of the famous comic book series "Dick Tracy", which starred and was directed by Warren Beatty! I focus on the reasons why the film is often overlooked and forgotten today despite being financialy successful, having a big cast of stars (Warren Beatty, Al Pacino, Madonna, Dustin Hoffman, Dick VanDyke etc.) and featuring a unique visual art direction!
Anyhting for Jackson (2020), a brand new horror movie from director Jason G. Dyck, explores the dark and ugly spirits that an old grieving couple, Audrey (Sheila McCarthy) and Henry Walsh (Julian Richings) are willing to realease into the world, to bring their dead grandson Jackson back to life!
Kurtis David Harbor's horror film Spiral (2019), follows Malik (Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman) and Aaaron (Ari Cohen) as they move with their daughter Kayla (Jennifer Laporte) from the big city to a small and quiet town. Malik and Aaron may have a little trouble fitting in as they are the only openly gay people in town and the neighbors seem to be harboring some sinister secrets. Being subjected to discrimination and abuse as a teen, Malik begins to investigate his neighbors and his world begins to unravel at the seems.
Let's take a trip down the highlighted and dutch angled streets of Joel Shumacher's Gotham City! Don't tell anyone but I saw this movie when I was five years old and for what ever reason I still enjoy it! So let's gather around to discuss bat nipples, highlighted wheels and studio interference!
Wounds (2019) is a supernatural horror film which was directed by Babak Anvari (Under the Shadow) and follows a New Orleans bartender named Will (Armie Hammer) as he invesigates disturbing images that are found on a lost cell phone. These images begin to further unravel Will's life and affects his girlfriend Carrie (Dakota Johnson) and friend Alicia (Zazie Beetz). Is Will going crazy or is a supernatural force on the loose and ready to take claim of his body?
On today's episode of RAREE, we take a look at director David Mackenzie's british prison drama Starred Up (2013). The film stars Jack O'connel as the nineteen year old Eric Love who is sent up from a Youth Offenders facility, to an adult prison where he must survive the politics of the corrupt establishment and his father Neville Love, played by Ben Mendelsohn.
