Sometimes being a Christian and dating can become difficult. The reason being is because certain topics are taboo, or so hushed that we don't really get to know the person we are dating.
During this segment we are going to discuss whether or not there is really a difference when dating as a Christian vs not being a Christian.

Hey everyone, it’s time for a little R&R no I’m not talking about rest and relaxation but restoration and relationships I’m Shay Owens, and I am restoring lives and relationships through the power of coaching. Tonight, we are talking in detail about domestic violence, you’ll hear about our personal stories, the warning signs, and what one man is doing to change the laws to help protect you against an abuser. Domestic violence doesn’t discriminate, it affects everyone no matter the gender, age, sex, nationality, social status, or sexual preference. Nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States alone. In just one year that is over 10 million women and men, and those are just the ones that are reported. Once you have been a victim of abuse whether it is mentally, physically, or sexually; it can impact you for a very long time, for many a life time, or unfortunately for some they never make it out alive . The longer you stay in a situation that is violent either mentally, physically, or sexually the harder it will be to get out, and the more damage you’ll will do to yourself. I have personally been in two previous marriages that were both physically and emotionally abusive. I made excuses because I wasn’t beaten down to the ground, and I always fought back, so I never looked at myself as a victim until the marriages were over; then I realized that the emotional abuse affected me much more than physical abuse. It caused me to be very depressed; and I almost lost my life because I was heavily drinking and taking anti-depressants for years. Waking up in the hospital after 3 days and not knowing where I was hit me hard. That was my wake-up call to begin healing from the abuse and depression. At that time I had 4 children that could have been left without a mother because I was self-medicating and drinking to numb the pain I was in, and this was years after my divorces. So the pain just followed me long after the relationships were over. I Thank God that today I am healed and through the coaching services that I offer, I am now able to help others heal, and manage their lives without self-sabotage. Before I bring in our guest, I am going to let you know what to look out for. I also want you to know that the nature of this conversation can be graphic to some, but it is a conversation that is much needed.
