This Pod Blog is on the topic of values. It's a subject that I cover in my Mindfulness and Mindful Living Classes and Workshops and also when I am Life Coaching one-to-one. I find that people haven't really thought about their values and what are the really important ones in their lives. When people are not happy in their lives it may be because they are not being true to their values and honouring them. So it's a really important topic. In this short pod blog, I'm really just trying to stimulate the listener to stop and think about their values and think about the questions that I raise.
Of course if I'm doing this in a class/workshop it's a much longer process of thinking, deliberating, discussing, identifying what values are and what my participants values are. It was a very powerful experience during the class participants find it really useful. In addition I often find that when people come to me for Life Coaching on a one-to-one basis, issues in their life like stress, anxiety and unhappiness can be linked to them perhaps not being aware of honouring the values. I hope you enjoy this Pod Blog and if you do, please share it with your friends.
I run mindfulness and mindful living classes/Workshops on a regular basis and also run Classes/workshops for companies and organisations that wish to provide them further employees. I also do one-to-one coaching from my clients. You can contact me for an initial "no fee" consultation to explore if my services and skills can be of help to you or your organisation.

As always when we meditate, is important to set our intention and motivation – why are we doing this? – And then we calm and settle our mind, so that we can see things more clearly, how things really are. This meditation does that and then focuses on how important it is to "let go" of things that we are clinging to holding onto in life. It can be anger, it can be something is not working any more, it can be wanting things and people to be exactly as we want the. Of course we hold on and don't let go – it leads to negative emotions, tension, anxiety, anger and so on. We effectively become a prisoner of not letting go. So if we can learn to let go, we are no longer a prisoner – we set ourselves free. I hope you enjoy this short meditation and find it relaxing, calming, thought-provoking and that it makes you happier sets you free. If you enjoy this meditation please share it. Thanks.

This short meditation intention is to calm your mind using your breathing body. Our minds are generally very busy and distracted and tend to wander into the past or the future which can cause anxiety, regret and stress. Mindfulness Meditation helps to calm my mind be more present and enjoy life as it is – not how we expect it or want it to be. I hope you enjoy it. If you did please share with your friends.

In this episode of my pod blog, I talk about acceptance. There are things in our lives that happen that we can change and things that we can't change. Getting stressed and angry about things that we cannot change, will not do anything for our mental health and happiness. So we have to learn to let go and work on things that we can change. When we let go like this we set ourselves free from worry, anxiety and stress.
I try to keep my pod blogs as short and concise and to the point as possible. If it makes a difference in one person's life – then it's been worthwhile.
I hope you enjoy this pod blog and find it useful – if you do you might shared with other people as well.
Thank you and talk again soon. Namaste - Declan

In this PodBlog I am talking about how taking small steps to change things in our life, can combat procrastination and being overwhelmed and not doing anything. It certainly applies in my life. I also talk about how important habit is in our lives – when our motivation is low, habit is what keeps us going. My blog is something that I write for myself in the first instance and by sharing it, I hope that it will make a small difference in somebody else's life. I get a lot of my inspiration from what I listen to and read by others. I also learn from the mistakes that I make myself.
I am a Mindfulness Teacher and Life Coach, often combining both with my clients. You can check me out on https://declanconlon.ie/life-coaching/ – or my bio link - or Spotify or SoundCloud. My passion is learning and helping. So if you think I can help you in any way you can contact me for a “no fee” initial consultation/chat.
In this podcast I talk about how important it is to build Mindfulness into our lives. Mindfulness is not just sitting in a chair, cushion or lying down and formally meditating - although this is powerful. You can also build informal Mindfulness practice into how you go about living your daily life. Mindfulness is awareness, knowing what you are doing or what is happening while it is. So rather than going about your day on "autopilot" not being aware - you can practice bringing mindful awareness into many of your daily tasks and routines. So have a listen - think about it - try it.

This meditation is to help us in the first instance settle down, slow down and calm our minds. We then take a look at our life as it is now, physically in our body, our mental state, or emotional state and our spiritual state. It is important that we check in with ourselves on a regular basis to ensure that we are looking after and are in tune with these four states of being. It's really important also that they are all as balanced as possible. For example, you may have a healthy body, but not healthy mind or you may have a healthy mind, but not a healthy body or you may have a healthy body but you are not really living the life you are and in alignment with your values and goals.
We often rush to our lives, busy, busy not taking this time to stop, to pause and reflect.
Mindfulness has that a powerful effect of slowing us down, calming our minds so that we can examine our life, frame by frame. In the same way as sometimes we have to slow down a film and examine it frame by frame to see what is actually happening. I'm sure you seen this in many sporting situations.
So if you can find the time to sit down and do this meditation, find quite place, where you won't be disturbed, and just reflect on your life as it is now – is it going in a direction that you want, do you need to change anything?
As a mindfulness – life coach, when I'm working with clients, I get them to do this in the first session or two with me. It allows them to settle down, arrive, let go and see where they are in their lives right now, before they decide what they really want to do and where they want to go. It is a process that takes time, but it is really worth it. If you can lay solid foundations and have a plan and a goal for the next stage of your life, that is something worth investing your time and some money in your future you.
I provide prospective clients with a "no fee" initial consultation, to explain the process to them, have a chat with them and see if I can provide the service that they need and that they are happy to work with me. It does involve a lot of work and commitment. It's not a quick fix.

This meditation is to help us reflect on our Life Values, who and what is really important in our lives. We have values in our life that are permanent, we call these are core values and we also have values in our lives which change with our lives circumstances, these are transient values that are relevant to our live stage. Our core values, which really define us, do not change. Our values are like a compass, which give us the direction and focus we have in our lives. However, we can often lose sight of what our values are, who we are. We may be living a life using somebody else's values, somebody else's expectations. We may be people pleasing, trying to fit in with people and situations we think we should be with, rather than really want to be with. When this happens, it can lead to a lot of unhappiness, and we may not even be aware of what is causing it. So this meditation is a step in helping you to stop and think about this, are you living the life that you really want. It is an important question, which, we all need to ask ourselves and check in with ourselves on a regular basis.

In this blog, I recommend a book on Mindfulness - I also discuss the idea that COVID has put the world upheaval and has forced us to look at and adopt new work and life practices that, perhaps we had be considering, but hadn't really done anything about - for example, the worldwide adoption and usage of Zoom. What changes could this upheaval prompt you to make in your own life. I also discussed the idea of learning something new as a way of mental stimulation and reducing the chance of mental decline. Finally talk about the idea of "habit stacking" which I read about in the book – Atomic Habits.

You have approximately 22k breaths per day. Your breath is always with you., you don't have to remember to bring it with you - It is your ultimate, always on meditation device, anchor and support. This meditation focuses on the breath and the many ways you can meditate using it.
We have a tendency to judge ourselves, other people and events in a negative way - wanting them to be to our liking - our preferred way. Of course the reality of life is that this is not likely to always to be the case.
So we judge as good and bad, like don't like - increasing the stress and anxiety on ourselves and others. We may not have all the correct facts and information when we judge.
This Pod/Blog is a brief exploration of the topic to help with your insight and awareness about how we often rush to judgement and how with renewed insight and awareness we can reduce our negative judging.
We can work and improve on this attitude in our lives to increase our happiness and flourishing.
Mindful Attitudes to life are key to our happiness and flourishing. This short reflection is on the attitudes of acceptance and letting go. When we accept and let go of people, emotions and feelings, behaviours, relationships careers etc. that no longer serve us and are holding us back - we set ourselves free to enjoy and flourish in the rest of our life.
RAIN is a first step mindfulness process that offers support for working with intense and difficult emotions. Taking a moment to recognise the strong emotion is present and gently turned towards what you’re experiencing in an open non-judgemental way. Tuning in to the direct present moment experience of what is happening in your body and mind – the emotions, the thoughts and sensations that are here.
It can be helpful to mentally name it, for example, “I am feeling stressed,” or “I am feeling overwhelmed,”. This recognition of what you’re feeling opens up in space and brings you into full contact with yourself and the actuality of the present moment.
It is an exercise in self compassion that depends on, honest, direct contact, with our own vulnerability. We are actively offering care to ourselves.
This is a short morning meditation which focuses on having a good start to the stay by being grateful for simple thigs that are really important. It also focus on a " to be" list rather than a "to do" list - today I will be: Kind, Generous, happy etc. Starting the day in a positive way set up the rest of your day well. Practicing self care is not selfish. It's really important. This podcast discusses the topic of self care - Physical, Emotional, Mental and Spiritual. If we look after ourselves we can live a full and happy life. Small steps combine into big changes.
End of day meditation is a great way to end your day - calm your mind, reflect and prepare yourself to unwind for sleep and regeneration for the next day.
This is a short 5 minutes meditation that you can do anywhere - in your car at lunchtime, in shopping centre car park, in a roadside layby on a journey, sitting in a chair at home or at your desk - anywhere !
This podcast is about how life is like sailing on the sea of life - in all the various weathers, calm and stormy. Mindfulness and Meditation teaches us to surf the waves of life, to cope and flourish.
It's important at the end of the day to relax your body and calm your mind. Reflect on the good stuff and let go of the bad stuff. The day is over and you can't change it. This meditation will help you to relax and get ready for sleep to refresh you for tomorrow.
