Adam didn't have to till the land for food. Adam and Eve were Fruitarians! Food was abundant and they weren't taught to eat from the ground anyway! They ate from trees...not the ground. Tilling land is a hobby now for Adam who just got fired from their main tilling job, in the Garden of Eden! He was unemployed and no longer restricted to just the Garden of Eden. They were free to explore the world and invent things.

The word Com-pass here is actually the Hebrew word gebher encompassing the girth of a גֶּבֶר gebher (Strong's #1397), this word is for a strong and mighty man, or warrior.
So it's stating that A WOMAN shall be a mighty and strong warrior for a man!
