There are many things in our world that if we are not wise and walking in self control, can become very addicting and may place us in areas of bondage. Jesus saves us by His grace through our faith, but even still as Christian men, we must be on guard against allowing anything room in our lives that COULD become areas of bondage or addiction. Jesus can and will bring us to a place of deliverance if we go to Him and allow Him to work in these areas.

With our hectic and crazy busy schedules, we can very easily lose track of priorities. One of the greatest priorities to keep in our lives, is a real and honest prayer life with the Lord. God wants us to talk with Him. He has invited us to come (just as we are) and tell Him what we need, and to thank Him for all He has done. We NEED to be men of prayer!

When life is going great, our desperation for God can very easily be non existent. We can feel that we don't need God when the money is coming in, our work is thriving, our relationships are working out, we are into a consistent exercise plan and life is just good! But God will sometimes allow some painful situations into our lives, in order to stir up a new desperation for His presence once again. We want to be men who are longing for the presence of God in our lives.

Many people saw and witnessed with their own eyes, Jesus suffer and die upon the cross. Many people saw and witnessed with their own eyes, that His body was buried in a tomb, with a massive boulder blocking the entrance. Many people saw and witnessed with their own eyes, Jesus Christ walking and talking on earth, after He rose back to life from the dead. You and I have personally experienced the very presence, forgiveness, mercy and love of Jesus in our own lives, and we now have hope and great expectation because of His resurrection.

We live in a world where the majority of men are self centered and only think about themselves. We as Christian men can also be tempted to live that way, but then we see in the bible that God has called us to be selfless men, and not selfish men. We must take this seriously and be intentional about living selfless like Jesus.

Sometimes we allow complaining, cussing, gossip, lying, perverse jokes and slander to come out of our mouths. Sometimes we really hurt people by the words we say. The bible teaches clearly that our tongues can NEVER be tamed, so instead we must control them. This will mean that there are times where we must simply Shut Up!

Life is made up of so many details, so many responsibilities, and so many distractions. Life can very suddenly and very quickly lead us away from the priority we once had, of loving, serving and seeking Jesus more then anything else. We must be reminded that this is the one thing that Jesus wants the most from us. He is not wanting more work, more effort, more acts of service from us, for Him. He is wanting us. Just to be with Him. Just to know Him. Just to sit at His feet and enjoy our first love with Him.

Sometimes men don't think about or consider the truth that God loves them. Many men think that God could never love them because of all of the sinful things they have done. Satan will absolutely lie and try and convince men that they are not loved by God, and that God is angry at them. I hope you are encouraged by this important reminder on today's podcast that God completely loves you right now, now matter how you feel or what you have done.

Imagine living with absolutely no light! No natural light from the sun or stars. No man made light from your house bulbs, to your car head lights. Life would be awful, and in fact life would quickly end. Where there is no light, there is no life! This goes for us spiritually as well. As Christian men, we are no longer of darkness. God has brought us out of darkness and has placed us into His light, which is the life that we live. But be on guard as darkness will try to pull you back. Living on a literal fence would be extremely uncomfortable, extremely painful and would bring NO joy or peace to your life, ever. Many men choose to live on a fence when it comes to serving God. They think that they can live for both sides of the fence. They think they can serve God, while serving Satan. They think they can serve Jesus, while serving their lustful flesh. A lot of men actually believe this is an okay way to live and that God is fine with it. I want you to know that He is not okay with us living on the fence. He demands our ALL! He deserves our ALL! He is a jealous God who wants every part of your life. Let today be the day that you get off the fence, grow up and make your choice to serve the Lord!

Fear, embarrassment, and shame will cause even the strongest man to feel like getting alone and hiding away from everyone and everything. Sometimes having some alone time is good and needed, but we need to understand that we can only hide from people, responsibilities, shame and fear temporarily. Eventually we need to face these things, or it will simply expose us in time. But when it comes to God, we can NEVER hide anything from Him. He sees all, knows all and understand all. If you are a man who is trying to hide from God, you need to stop because it is not working, and you must step out of darkness, and into His light. His love, grace, forgiveness and mercy will be there to meet you.

God is made up of three Persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. There is only one God, but three persons who work together in the hearts and lives of people. As followers of Jesus, we have been given the Holy Spirit to us and He lives inside of us faithfully leading us, teaching us, speaking to us, comforting us, convicting us, helping us and showing us things to come in our futures. In a world, so perverted and selfish, where most men rely on themselves, we must be men who fully rely upon God the Holy Spirit.

Most people in our world will only believe something if they can see it with their eyes. As Christians, we live our life by faith in God, who we do not see with our eyes. We trust Him with our hearts. We trust Him at His word and in His promises. Often times in our lives, we will face different situations that will really test us in our faith. We will struggle to believe God because we don't see anything around us that makes us "feel" like God is with us and working things out for us. This is where our faith is stretched, and we are called to believe God even when we don't see anything. I hope that you are encouraged by today's podcast.

Some say that "real men" don't cry. I say that "real men" can cry and be confident that God understands their cry. We all face times where our emotions will bring tears to our eyes. There are tears of joy, and there are tears of sorrow and pain, and we will all experience both of these cries. We can find encouragement from the Bible, which shows us that Jesus hears and responds to the tears of sorrow that we cry. I hope you are encouraged by today's episode.

When a man is all in for Jesus, he will suffer for it. Following Jesus is a war zone, it is absolutely not a walk in the park. Jesus told us that if we want to follow Him, we must deny ourselves every day, pick up our cross and follow Him. Every day we must be focused and determined to be all in for following Jesus and not ourselves. When suffering comes, you will be tempted to quit and no longer follow Jesus. You must be strong, every moment of every day. For us to do this, we need the power of the Holy Spirit, the truth of God's word, and each other. I hope you are encouraged by today's podcast.

As Christian men, we have an assurance of our eternal future after we die. We know, according to the Bible, that when we die we are immediately with Jesus in heaven. Christian's never have to fear death because of our hope in Jesus. But while we live on this earth, in our human bodies, we will all face fears of our futures. We will question what is coming down the pipeline of our lives. When will I die? How will I die? Will I get sick? Will somebody I love get sick or die? What job am I going to do? Where's the money going to come from?... and many more concerns and fears of our futures. We are afraid of the unknown. We are afraid of what we do not see. God does not want us living in fear, but in His peace and hope that He brings. The fear of tomorrow, will stop us from truly living today! I hope you are encouraged by today's episode.

I am currently in a season of massive transition. God is shifting many things in my life for my wife and I, along with our teenage kids. Because of this transition, I have been feeling worn out in every way, as well as completely out of sorts. But despite feeling this way, I continue to move forward through this uncomfortable transition, knowing that it is God who is certainly leading the way. It is in times of uncertainty and change, that we will have strong feelings that tell us that "we can't do it!" I want to encourage you gentlemen, that if you are trusting in Jesus, and following Him every day by faith alone, then you can do it in HIS strength! You are exactly where you need to be during transition and change. Keep moving forward and see how the Lord works all things out for your good.

As men we have goals we want to reach. We have dreams that we desire to see fulfilled. Every man wants to win in every area of our lives, and when things don't turn out the way we were hoping for, we can quickly feel unsatisfied with our lives. We will all experience loss and will see others get the wins that we were aiming for, and this can really affect a man in some dark and negative ways. We can begin to compare our manhood, our financial and social status, our physique, our careers, and even our families and marriages with other men. We must learn to be content in all circumstances, and to make our pursuit of Jesus greater then our pursuit of material possessions and things of this world.

Every man has a past, and every one of our pasts are made up of beautiful memories and moments that we love to remember. But they are also made up of horrible, dark moments and situations that we never want to think about again. We have all made choices that were shameful, selfish and sinful in our pasts, and the devil will bring these past memories to our attention, in order to bring fear shame, guilt and condemnation. He wants us to believe that the sins that we have confessed to Jesus, are actually not forgiven and that we are never going to be good enough in God's sight. On today's podcast I share with you some truth from God's word which reminds us that as a follower of Jesus, our pasts have nothing to do with us anymore. Our past sins have been wash away by the blood of Jesus, and forgiven and forgotten about by God. We must now focus on forgetting the former things, and move forward with faith and freedom into the wonderful, new things that lie ahead for each one of us.

Life is made up of many decisions. Most decisions are quite simple and are easy to make, but other times we will face some extremely difficult decisions that we as men have to make. We can't rely on others to make these for us, we know that we need to make the decisions of what to do. What makes these so difficult, is the uncertainty that often comes with decision making. We don't know exactly how our choice will all unfold and what will come from it, but a choice has to be made either way. The incredible truth is that God desires to help you with these difficult decisions that you are up against. As we pray, wait, seek wise counsel, and begin to put some action to our faith, we will see God and His faithfulness come through and help you with making the right decision.

As we navigate through our Christian lives, we will face many difficult seasons of hardship. The bible calls these times "Fiery Trials". When we go through these trials, we can feel like God has left us and is against us, but in fact it is during these times, that God is close by and is growing us in our faith. We are called to endure forward through these trials with simple faith knowing that the Lord is purifying us in the fire. God has promised in His word, that when we go through the fire, the flames will not consume us. Jesus is walking with us in the fire and will bring us forth, out of the fire stronger and more prepared then before. Be encouraged to know that whatever trials you are in right now, God is with you all the way.

Life gets tiring for all of us, and we can easily find ourselves running on fumes.  All of our responsibilities within our families, our jobs, places to go and people to see, will truly spend our energy and will cause us to be exhausted.  Then factor in the spiritual battle that Christian men are fighting every day, and we can clearly see how important it is for us to find proper rest and sleep in order to recover physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually every day.  We don't consider sleep to be of much importance.  We more so focus on the grind and working hard, which is an honorable thing, but if we are living our lives burnt out and worn down, we must consider if we are really succeeding at being the men that God has called us to be.  I hope you are challenged and encouraged by today's episode.

Today's podcast was recorded with no plan, no notes and truthfully no desire to record.  It's been a tough week and today my motivation to record my weekly episode was no where to be found.  I thought that I would share some "real talk" with you from my heart and my own life, with hopes that it will be a source of encouragement and strength for you.  Sometimes God will allow us to walk through some difficult and very uncomfortable circumstances, and its only our faith that keeps us moving forward.  God is calling us today to EMBRACE THE UNCOMFORTABLE and to allow Him to keep directing us forward into our destiny and His perfect plans.

Sometimes in life, it seems like God has forgotten all about us.  It can feel like He is far away, nowhere to be found.  It can feel like He doesn't listen to our prayers or even care about what we are going through.  It's during these times, that God is actually growing us in our faith in Him and in His truth.  Our flesh will feel very uncomfortable during these times, but our spirits will be gaining strength and faith in God.  If you are feeling like God has forgotten you, I want to encourage you that He absolutely has not, and will never forget about you.  You are His child and He is with you always.  He knows what you are going through, He knows what you are struggling with, and He knows exactly what He is working out in your life, and it's for your good.  I hope you are encouraged by today's episode.

Every man will face temptation in their life.  We can't avoid temptation.  Our fallen and sinful flesh and the world that we live in, have many things that will tempt us to sin against God.  Temptations purpose is to lead us astray from doing God's will and to focus on doing our own will.  Temptation is not a sin, but giving in to it is.  God promised that He will not give us more temptation then we can handle, and He also promised a way of escape when we are tempted.  Most people give in to these lusts of our flesh, but we want to be men who stand and fight against temptation so we can live our lives pleasing before God.  The only way this battle can be won, is by fighting with the truth of the Bible.  We fight temptation with the written word of God.  I hope you are encouraged by today's podcast.🎤 INTERESTED in having me come speak at your church, men's meeting, conference or event? At times in life, we come face to face with situations that are completely impossible for us to handle.  We have tried to break addictions over and over, with no victory.  We have tried to figure out our financial pressures and struggles over and over, with no change.  We have tried to overcome depression and anxiety over and over, with no relief.  We find ourselves in "red sea" moments.  These are times where we have no where to go, the enemy is coming at us, we don't know what to do, and fear and uncertainty are rearing its ugly head.  We need God to breakthrough!  We all have these times where we need a supernatural miracle from God, to break through these impossible situations.  God is able.  We need to trust Him for breakthrough.

Anger is a totally normal emotion that we all deal with from time to time.  Sometimes anger can be good as a motivation to cause us to change things that need to be changed.  But uncontrolled anger does no good, and will only bring harm, hurt people and make things much worse.  Anger is a real battle of our flesh, and we will be tempted to allow it to determine what we say, how we say it, what we do and where we go.  We must rely fully upon the Holy Spirit to help us use self control in our anger, so that it does not control us.  The bible teaches in Ephesians to be angry, but don't let our anger cause us to sin.  There is hope for our fight against our anger and tempers, and I hope you find some encouragement by listening today.

As Christian men, our entire life is lived out by faith in God and in His truth. We don't see God with our eyes, we can't touch God with our hands, but we have faith in God that He is real and alive and faithfully with us each day, through every circumstance. For us who have experienced the presence of God, we absolutely know, by faith, that He is good and real. We are saved by God's grace through our faith. We walk by faith and not by sight. We even die in faith, knowing we are at the door of eternity with Jesus. But while we live on earth, we will at times come to certain situations where we are needing to take a step of faith into something new. No more praying about it, no more thinking about it, no more considering options, we have been brought by God here, to now step out into the unknown by faith. This can be terrifying, and will be opposed in many ways. We will struggle with doubt and questions of should we really step out? If God has brought you this far, then step out, knowing that He is with you every step of the way.

Every day we make many decisions.  Things we say, things we do, places we go, and people we hang with, are all decisions that we make.  Every one of these decisions have a motive behind them.  We have reasons for what we do, and it is important that we are honestly checking our motives behind everything.  We must question... Why do we do what we do?  Why do we post what we post?  Why do we go places that we go? Why do we say what we say?  God is the one who will ultimately examine our motives, and He will lovingly call us out when He finds wrong motives at work in our life.  I hope that you are encouraged by today's podcast.

We are never called by God to live this life as a "lone wolf" Christian.  We will not succeed at life alone.  We need Christian brothers who will stand by our side and hold us up when we are worn out and discouraged from the battle.  We need brothers who will love us enough to hold us accountable in our life and to make sure we are pressing forward into the things of God, and not slacking off in the fight.  If you are in need of brotherhood, ask the Lord for this, and seek out brothers who you can do life with.  God will provide these crucial relationships that are needed as we ask Him and honestly seek them out.  I hope that you are encouraged by today's episode.

Every man will fail at times.  We all have different areas in life that will trip us up from time to time.  When we do fail, and we will, we must own our failure, confess to God and sometimes people our failure, and get up from our failure and move forward into following the Lord.  Your failure does not define who you are, Jesus defines who you are in the scriptures.  Don't allow the enemy to put shame and condemnation on you when you fail, rise up in faith and move on in the grace of God.  I hope that you are encouraged by today's podcast

Jesus came to earth as fully God and fully man. He came to be our example of how to live. He came to preach about the kingdom of God. He came to die on the cross for our sin.  He came to resurrect back to life for our hope.  He ascended to heaven where He currently rules and reigns as the KING of all KINGS.  One day He will return and receive His people to be with Him for all eternity and we will rule and reign with our great God and King Jesus for all time!  Most men want to be king instead of surrender to the King Jesus. I choose to bow and surrender to Jesus as my King!  I hope you will choose to do the same!

Marriage is a massive blessing from God and it is also a massive responsibility for men to live out their marriages God's way.  When a man marries a woman, God's will and command is that it is for a lifetime.  We cannot allow anything or anyone to come into our married life and bring division and separation between us and our wives.  God has called men to be the loving and serving leader of our wives and our families.  We are responsible to lead our wives God's way, to love our wives as Jesus loves His Church, and to honor, and understand our wives.  Marriage is not easy, but as we keep Jesus at the center of our married life, He will sustain us and give us everything we need to do marriage His way.  God is also able to heal marriages that are on the brink of divorce, and restore people and the pain inflicted on them, because of a divorce. Sex is a beautiful and enjoyable creation of God for us to enjoy with our wives.  God's design for sex is to be used in only one way, and this is in the context of a married man and woman.  According to the Bible, all other sexual relations are not God's way and are immoral in His sight.  Men either have a pure, holy, appropriate and God honoring sex life, or we have an impure, unholy and inappropriate sex life that does not honor the Lord.  It is important that we talk about sex as men, and that we honestly and humbly allow God's definition of sex to be ours as well.  I hope that you are encouraged and challenged by today's podcast.🎤 INTERESTED in having me come speak at your church, men's meeting, conference or event? Every man lives in our natural world where we see, touch, taste, smell and feel.  We also live in an online world with Google, Amazon, and social media platforms.  There is also a third life where men live the most, and this is within a mans thought life.  Studies say that we have approximately 6000 thoughts every day.  A lot of these thoughts we cannot control initially coming into our mind, but we can control whether we dwell on the thought or take authority over the thought.  Your thought life will determine where you go, what you watch, who you hang with and what you say.  Gentlemen, we must guard our thought life and understand that it matters very much what we are choosing to think about.  Let's desire to honor God with our thought life.

Men are called to work.  We are called to work hard to provide a living for our families.  Laziness in a man does not honor the Lord, but the committed and diligent hard work of a man brings great honor and glory to God.  Sometimes we need to work a job that we would rather not work, in order to faithfully provide for our family.  Sometimes we need to study and gain some education in order to pursue a job that God wants us to do.  But ultimately, no matter what job you work, we want to work it with all of our heart, as unto the Lord.  I hope that you are encouraged by today's podcast.

The incredible reality and truth, that the God of all creation has openly invited us to talk to Him in prayer, is absolutely mind blowing, yet we can very easily NOT PRAY!  It is crucial that Christian men have a genuine and quality prayer life with the Lord.  We need this time and place to pour our hearts out to God, to thank God for all He has done, to seek His direction for us and our families, and to hear His voice as He speaks to us.  Our prayer life MUST be INTENTIONAL and a PRIORITY!  We can so quickly prioritize every other thing, but prayer.  Every man needs a prayer life!  I hope you are encouraged and challenged by today's podcast!

In the hustle and bustle of our lives, and because of the fallen and broken flesh that we live in, we can easily lose sight of a proper perspective of our lives.  We can either view our life through the lens of our flesh, our feelings and emotions, what society and culture says, or even through the lens of our financial status.  These are NOT healthy perspectives to view our lives through.  We must constantly be viewing our lives through the lens of God's truth.  When circumstances in our lives do need to change, God sometimes will change these things for us, but often times He is wanting us to see things through a new perspective.  He will help us to do this by His truth, the power of His Spirit and also by other people who can help us shape a proper perspective.

God is with you!  Right now, no matter what you are going through, He is with you!  That is absolutely amazing!  We don't serve some far off, distant God who knows nothing about us or has no interest in us.  No, we serve a loving and faithful God who is our Father who cares deeply about us.  He loves you so much that He came down to earth to be with you. He is with you every morning, every day on the job, and every night when you lay down for sleep.  He will never leave you!  This is COMPLETELY AWESOME!  I hope that you are encouraged by the podcast.

A crucial part of every Christian mans life is walking in self control.  Our flesh wants to indulge in all of the sinful desires that it craves, but we are called by God to resist the sins of our flesh.  The way that we do this is by using self control.  Self control is an active fruit and defensive weapon in the life of every Christian, given to us by the Holy Spirit.  When we feel weak in our flesh, the Holy Spirit will empower us to use self control to resist temptations and opposition all around us.  I hope you are encouraged and strengthened by today's podcast.

In the spirit of celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend, I thought we would discuss the importance of being men of gratitude before God and people.  We really do have so much to be thankful for gentlemen.  God has blessed us with so many good things, but we can easily not see them because our attention is so focused on what we don't have, or what we want to see happen in our lives.  We cannot allow ourselves to become so caught up in our own selfish world, that we no longer express our thanksgiving to God for all that He has given and all that He has done.  We want to be men who choose to have an attitude of gratitude before the Lord and before people.  I hope that you are encouraged by today's podcast.

One of the most frustrating things for a Christian man, is not having clear direction for his life.  Not knowing where to work, who to marry, where to live or how to spend his time can drive a man nuts and in fact lead him to a dark place of depression.  Thankfully God has not left us to ourselves to figure out our lives.  He has given us His word which is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path.  He has given us an open door to come to Him anytime in prayer while promising us to hear and answer according to His will.  He has also given us trusted brothers in Christ, where we can find wise counsel to help us with direction for our lives.  On today's podcast we are talking about how the Holy Spirit desires to lead us into all truth, showing us clear direction for our lives.  We will not find every specific answer to every specific prayer in the Bible, so we must learn to rely upon the leading of the Holy Spirit to help us know what to do and where to go in our time on earth.  I hope that you are encouraged by today's podcast.

God loves people.  God has compassion towards people who are lost.  Even followers of Jesus at times can find themselves straying from the sheepfold where they have safety, provision and the leading of the shepherd.  We are so valuable to God that he goes to extreme measures to come and find us and bring us back to Himself.  Even if we are the only one who has strayed,  God will still come to find us.  Our Father loves us!  We are His sons.  I hope that you find encouragement on today's podcast!

I really need God!  I desperately need Him.  I recognize that every moment of every day, I really need Him in my life.  I desire that He holds me when I am weak and can't stand alone.  I long for Him to comfort me when I am hurting.  I am a man who really needs God and I am not ashamed to admit this.  I am sure that if you are an honest follower of Jesus, that you feel the same way.  God is truly for you and He is truly with you, but it's in the dark seasons of our lives, where we must allow our desperation to draw us closer to Jesus and not further away from Him.  Our desperate times will tempt our flesh to find some relief in some sinful ways, which is only temporary and brings us to a place of guilt and shame.  Our ultimate and lasting relief in our desperation only comes for God.  I hope that you are encouraged by today's podcast.

We all have something to offer this world.  God has given us all talents, abilities, giftings, wisdom, and resources to offer.  If we choose to not offer to God what we have been given, then He cannot use us to our full potential and to the extent that He truly desires.  My encouragement for you, is to take what you've got, begin to use it, and see what God will do with it.  I hope you are encouraged!

We are all running a race.  Our race is called LIFE.  Jesus has called us, as Christian men, to run the race with endurance until the END!  We will be tempted along the way to quit and throw in the towel, but we want to be men who finish the race where we will receive our reward!  The two most important things for us to do, until we take our last breath, is to believe God and endure the troubles we face until our race is over!  I hope you are strengthened in your faith and endurance from today's podcast!

Christian men who desire to lead their families in the ways of God, are prime targets of the enemy's attacks. Satan tries to break men down with lies, intimidation, and the battles of their minds. He tries to lead them astray with temptations and the lusts of the flesh, with hopes of destroying their lives. Many times we can really feel the heat of the battle that we are in, and we can feel like we can't go on anymore. But God loves us so much that he comes to meet us right where we are, in those dark and difficult seasons of our life. I hope that you are encouraged by today's podcast as we talk about the sneak attacks of the enemy.

Yesterday is over! There is nothing that you can do about yesterday.  Tomorrow is not promised.  All you can do about tomorrow, is to trust that God grants you one.  So often we can live as if we are invincible.  We can so easily become so focused on all of our plans, our dreams, our wants and desires, that we actually forget the God who gave us life and opportunity to do anything.  You need to know that all you have is today!  Once today is over, you will never get the time back.  So ask yourself.... How are you living today?  Really check yourself, and live today before God and people as if it is your last!  I hope you are encouraged and challenged by today's episode.

Every house, every structure, and every building requires a firm foundation.  If there is no firm and solid foundation, the house will eventually crumble and fall when it is exposed to long term wind, rain, and the storms that will certainly hit it.  Much like a house, we as men need to build our lives upon a firm foundation.  We will face many storms in life that will oppose us and hit us hard.  Our manhood, our marriages, our families, our sexuality, our finances, our jobs and many other areas of our lives, will face some severe storms.  The only way we will remain standing, is if the foundation of our life is Jesus Christ as the Cornerstone, and we have a longing to hear and do what Jesus has said in the Bible.  I hope that as you listen, you are encouraged and built up with a stronger spiritual foundation for your life.

On today's podcast I share with you some stories I experienced on my recent 11 days of vacation with my family.  We travelled by way of our Toyota Rav4 across two Canadian provinces, to visit my brother and his family in New Brunswick.  God provided us some much needed rest, relaxation, fun and adventure, along with some good east coast sea food.  We experienced a semi extreme canoe trip which involved a BBQ lunch on the slippery rocks, some sightseeing of eagles, and the tipping of our canoe twice.  I also had the opportunity to pray for an unconscious lady after she suddenly collapsed at a shopping mall in Saint John.  God blessed us with some words of encouragement and faith, to allow us to come home with some desired direction and clarity from the Lord.  I hope you are encouraged and amused by today's episode.

It's good to be back recording another podcast! I have been in a season of my life where I have greatly needed some time to rest.  With a full time job, my responsibilities as a husband and father, as well as my ministry involvement as an assistant Pastor at my church, I have become much aware of my need for some rest. With recent symptoms of exhaustion, I am needing and longing to embrace as much rest this summer as I can, while still doing the podcast when it works for me.  My plan is to begin recording weekly episodes in September, while having guests back on the show again, to share their stories with you!  We all come into seasons where to much is happening and we need to take a step back from doing to many things.  God is good and desires to give us rest when it is needed!  I hope you are encouraged by today's podcast!

Suddenly the police are surrounding him at gun point, and Ted is now on his way to a five year jail sentence, but God clearly shows up in this amazing story.  The Lord aligns people and situations in Ted's life to prove Himself strong on Ted's behalf and to bring him to saving faith.  You are going to be amazed at the faithfulness and mercy of God as you listen today.

Ted Nellis joins me to share his incredible story of his life as a small time pool hustler, convicted bank robber and prison inmate in a high security Canadian prison.  Before robbing banks, Ted started with smaller jobs, including a Christian book store in his home town city.  He was caught by police after a foot chase and taken back to the store to face the store owner.  The owner chose to show Ted mercy and not press charges and this act of grace and love has forever impacted Ted's life. As a young 19 year homeless man in Calgary Alberta, Ted decided to rob a bank out of desperation and foolishness. He and his partner in crime thought they got away with it and Ted was on his way back home to Ontario. He found himself considering robbing another bank in his hometown, which he did but this job ended with police officers arresting him at gunpoint and Ted was convicted with a prison sentence. This is only part 1 of my conversation.  Be sure to join me next week for part 2.  I know you will be encouraged by today's episode.

Dr. Joe Martin joins me on the podcast to share his incredible testimony of the faithfulness of God in his life.  Joe was raised by his 16 year old mother in the ghetto of Liberty City in Miami, Florida.  He grew up in severe poverty with violence, murder, and drug abuse all around and suffered years of abuse from a close family member.  Joe was suicidal for multiple years and eventually became determined to make something of his life. With sheer desperation ( and the grace of God) Joe found great success in his schooling, career and finances along with his young wife at the age of 22.  This new life of riches and success came crashing down with a double life of porn addiction and multiple adulterous relationships.  His marriage of 16 years was broken because of his sin, and he found himself in ruins.  But God did not forget about Joe.  The Lord has redeemed his life and is currently using him to lead men all around the world for Jesus Christ.  He started the ministry Real Men Connect, which includes training men to rise up and lead their families for the glory of God.  His podcast Real Men Connect is played in over 130 countries with 2.3 million downloads and is being used to serve and strengthen men in powerful ways.  You will be encouraged by todays episode!  Find out more about the work of Dr. Joe here https://www.realmenconnect.com/

Many Christian men who truly love Jesus, who fully trust in God will all of their heart, and who desire to serve and honor God with everything about them, will face some pretty intense spiritual warfare in their lives.  Followers of Jesus are not exempt from having to deal with some long and hard trials within our lifetime. God in fact will use these times for the growth of our faith and relationship with Him.  One of these battles is the greatest that a man can face, and that is the invisible war in our minds.  We should not ignore this battle and pretend that it is not there. We should also not be ashamed to talk about this real issue. This mind war comes in the form of anxiety, depression, oppression, discouragement, fear, and on and on.  We need to talk about these things and find strength and grace from God who is completely aware of this battle.  I hope you are encouraged by today's episode.

Ever feel like you are being watched?  It can be quite an awkward and possibly a scary feeling.  The reality is, is that the Lord is watching us all of the time!  He sees all, knows all, and is watching everywhere!  This truth can be a real source of comfort, as well as completely frightening.  In the Bible, David was overlooked by even his own father as being "King" material.  By the outward appearance, David didn't have what it took to be the King, but God saw his heart, and that is what matters. God sees inside the hearts of each man and is desiring to show himself strong on our behalf.  You will be encouraged by today's episode.

There are various kinds of "cries" that men will make.  Yes, men will cry!  But often times our cry as men, is not your typical tears and tissues type of cry. (Although I have had that type of cry and it's ok if you have also)  Todays episode is a sermon I preached nine years ago about when different men of the Bible have desperately cry out to God.  These are cries to be saved, cries to be strengthened, cries to be healed and cries for God to increase our faith.  I trust that God will encourage you on today's episode.

I turned the big 40 in January of this year, and recently find myself reminiscing about my life 14600 days in. Looking back I really do see God's faithfulness, but I also expect and believe for more in this lifetime from the Lord. I don't know exactly what lies ahead, but I do know God will continue to lead and remain faithful.  I felt to share with you an unedited and unscripted podcast about the story of my life, after the first 40 years.

Sometimes difficult situations, stressful circumstances and bad reports come our way and we don't know what to do. Sometimes only the news of something evil, can take us to a low and dark place of fighting feelings of fear.  These are the times where we must keep looking to Jesus and by faith begin to worship Him knowing that He will bring us to a place of victory and rest on the other side.  I know you will encouraged on today's episode.

On today's episode, I share with you some truth from God's word, as a dose of "spiritual dopamine" to help your discouragement. Dopamine is a natural chemical in our brain, and is responsible for allowing you to feel pleasure, satisfaction and motivation. When you feel good that you have achieved something, it's because you have a surge of dopamine in the brain. God's word of truth, mixed with praise and worship, is what we need to defeat and overcome discouragement that will come and try to weigh us down.
