God speaks to different people in different ways. When John was on Patmos, he heard one who had a voice like the sound of a trumpet. Throughout the Bible, trumpets have been used in a myriad of ways, from heraldry to bringing down the walls of Jericho.

For the child of God, the trumpet is a sound of hope!

When John was caught up into Heaven, he described and wrote down what he saw. While much of what he observed seems scary, we can take comfort in knowing that whether it's current events or future happenings, God is in control and HE will win in the end!

When you accept Christ as your savior, you are born into a family of believers. These brothers and sisters will watch out for you, help you grow and take care of you when you need it.

However, those outside the family of Christ will persecute you. All over the world Christians are being persecuted, some have lost friends, some have been fired from their jobs and some have been murdered.

The good news is that Christ has overcome the world and those who stand firm will receive the reward of eternal life! Listen and know, that if you have experience persecution, there is hope. Your family will stand by you and your Savior will reward you.

The Bible tells us to "shine like stars in the universe."

Not everyone is called to be a missionary, but each Christian is called to share the Gospel, the Good News of Jesus Christ.

We may not have the words, but we should all have the actions. Living such good lives that we set an example for Christ can do more than a thousand words.

God draws people to Himself and it is up to us to show them the way to Him, through Jesus Christ. We can do this by shining bright and showing them Jesus by how we live.

The day this episode is released is a big day for the United States of America!

USA turns 250!

This is a major milestone for America, but as her citizens celebrate, they do so as a divided nation. Likewise, the body of Christ is also divided. The same politics that divide a nation, also divide the Church.

However, there is hope! Jesus, is not only our savior, He is our guide, our shepherd. Through Jesus, every single person has that hope! Listen and know that while we may be divided in our beliefs, we can all be united in our one Lord and one Savior, Jesus Christ.

A little girl once complained when her father reached down to grab a basinet holding her new brother: "Oh no! Not the baby! He's taking over the whole house!"

In the same way, many Americans feel like AI is taking over their communities. Like that young girl, Americans feel frustrated as they see their bills go up.

If you are in a situation where you are feeling frustrated or hopeless about your surroundings, please know that God is in control!

Jesus is God's only Son, but Revelation refers to him as "firstborn of the dead." Jesus will take care of you, no matter what your situation is.

Jesus warned that the last days would be “as in the days of Noah.” The days of Noah were darker and far more complex than many of us realize—and Scripture doesn’t sugar-coat what was going on.

In this episode, we explore the mystery surrounding the Nephilim according to Genesis 6. What do these difficult passages reveal about the nature of the corruption spreading in humankind those days? Why did Noah find grace in God’s eyes?

If you’ve ever wondered how Noah’s story connects to the world we live in today, this conversation will challenge and encourage your faith. Listen now and be reminded about God’s plan of redemption.

You’ve probably heard Noah’s story since childhood—but there’s so much more beneath the surface for believers and nonbelievers today. It’s not just about the ark; it’s about a God, who is both just and merciful, who still saves in the midst of a broken world.

In this episode, we navigate Genesis 6, uncovering mysteries and truths that challenge and encourage us. We see a Noah with more questions than answers, but he trusted God’s faithfulness anyway. Ultimately, we connect the ark to the greater promise of salvation—being covered, sealed, and made righteous not by our efforts, but through Jesus.

If you’re longing for reassurance and encouragement, this episode will remind you that God still calls, still saves, and still makes a way. Listen in and discover how Noah’s story points directly to the hope we have in Christ today. Let this message strengthen your faith and renew your perspective.

This episode may cause you to stop listening to Coffee With Jesus.

Our host shares some of his deepest darkest secrets. As a Christian, he willingly dove deep into sin, enjoying a depraved lifestyle. He talks about this depravity and how it harmed his relationship with the Most High.

He also shares how, while his sin was great, our Father's love is SO much greater.

Listen and know that God's grace covers a multitude of sins, no matter how depraved.

If you are struggling to accept the Lord's grace and forgiveness and would like prayer, send us an email: prayer@coffeewithjesus.info

What does it truly mean to call God our strength and refuge?

In this powerful episode, we dive into Psalm 46:1 to explore who God is and what it means to be encircled by the Almighty. From Todd's gripping testimony of finding peace under fire in Afghanistan to the imagery of life as a grand tapestry, our hosts discuss how to train our eyes to perceive God’s presence in the midst of trouble.

How are these two events related and what does the story of Purim tell us about the nature of the Most High?

Listen as our host and his special guest talk about the story of Esther, current events and how they are related. Know that while things might seem bleak, we are not at the end of the story. God is there with us and will carry us through to the end.

During a traumatic event, the brain is primed to respond reflexively to ensure survival. But that same line of defense that keeps us safe can also keep clients trapped in cycles of traumatic memory. Trauma comes in many forms and the cycles of trauma can manifest in many ways.

Have you ever walked through a season where what you see looks nothing like what God promised? Maybe the circumstances feel contradictory. Maybe the timing feels off.

In today’s episode, Yilda Rivera talks about grasping God’s promises even when the situation or what we perceive is at odds with the promise. And she shares a testimony in which the Lord gave her a revelation in the form of a one-word promise—that at that moment, she didn’t know how to grasp.

If you’re in the messy middle… or if you just need to be reminded that God is still faithful even when everything around you is shifting, listen to this episode and learn how to anchor yourself in who God is and what He sees.

Click to listen to this encouraging episode and discover that in those seemingly nonsensical places, God’s glory shines the brightest. You are not alone, and God’s promise over your life still stands.

Not everyone who says, “God told me…” is speaking truth. With so many voices out there, particularly about the end times, it’s easy to be overwhelmed with stress, anxiety, and fear. So, how can we learn to discern false prophets?

In our new episode, our host, Todd Uebele, explores what prophecy is and who is a false prophet according to Scripture. He gives us a two-step approach to test if someone is a false prophet or if a message comes from God.

Listen in and be encouraged—God’s Word is our guide. In a time when confusion can run high, developing spiritual discernment is essential to abide in Jesus and His peace. Tune in and let’s grow in discernment together.

Have you ever felt like struggling means your faith isn’t strong enough? Many Christians carry silent battles, afraid of the stigma that comes with asking for help. But God reminds us that it’s okay to be broken—and it’s okay to seek help.

In this episode, Todd opens up about his journey through PTSD after Hurricane Katrina and military service. His story reminds us that God can work through counselors, doctors, friends, pastors, and even medicine to bring healing and strength.

As believers, we are not immune to suffering. And there is no shame in seeking help—only strength in admitting our need. God still loves us deeply in those moments.

Listen now to be encouraged and reminded: it’s okay to ask for help. Also, learn how you can support someone you love. Click the link to join the conversation.

He felt like he'd been punched in the gut. While rumors had persisted for months, he had thought his position was secure. It wasn't.

Sometimes our protection and our blessings come through hardship. In this episode, our host shares how twice when he was rejected, it turned out God was actually protecting him. He shares another time when a hardship actually led to something better.

Listen and know that God is always with you and that, not only will your storm pass, but it may lead to something better on the other side.

The man walked out first thing in the morning and was shocked by what he saw: The enemy armies had completely surround the city. From what the man could see, there was no escape.

There was something the man was unable to see. The armies of the Lord were far more numerous then the armies of the enemy king. The prophet prayed and the man's eyes were opened.

Sometimes, we are like that man, we see the dark clouds of life's storms, a layoff, a death in the family, food insecurity...but God is so much greater than the storms we face.

Listen, as our host shares how God is always there, helping us, even when we cannot see His helping hand. Know that God's help can come in many forms, in many different way, but no matter how dark those storm clouds may be, God is carrying us through to the warmth of the sun on the other side.

Coffee With Jesus went Live on 9 August 2025!

Did you miss the live event? Don't fret! Watch now!

It happened right after breakfast. A thundering and loud BOOM shook a military base in Afghanistan. There was dust everywhere, like that of an enraged sandstorm. Shattered buildings, walls caved in, and a video revealed the story of how 1,500 pounds of high explosives threatened the lives of those in the military base.

But there was a burnt and twisted piece of metal from that vehicle-borne improvised explosive device that revealed another story. Our host kept that twisted metal piece as a reminder of God’s protection for him.

NOTE: Long periods of silence (mainly at the beginning and end) were removed for clarity. Aside from that, this audio is as presented live.

"Then you will call, and the Lord will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I." ~ Isaiah 58:9

When we call out to God, He will answer. It may not seem like He is there. When in the midst of a storm, it is difficult to see the sunlight on the other side, but the light is there. God is there as well, helping us, carrying us, strengthening us, each and every step we take.

In this episode, our host shares his experience in one of the biggest storms he has ever faced, both literally and metaphorically.

Listen and know that God is with you during the storm. With each and every step you take, our Heavenly Father is right beside you.

The Bible tells us not to take the Lord's name in vain, but what does that mean exactly? What is the Lord's name and what does it mean to take His name in vain?

Listen as our host dives deep into scripture, to answer the question, and provide an answer that may surprise you. We will walk you through history, culture and most importantly, God's Word.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” - Romans 15:13

We can all find hope in family...and yet family comes in many forms.

In this Advent special, our host talks about family, about hope and about decorating for Christmas.

Our host will go all out with the decorating at my house. Clark Griswald? He’s an amateur. While some may think that misses the point and the spirit of Christmas. There is a reason why our host enjoys Christmas to its fullest each year. One year, he almost didn’t survive Christmas.

Anxiety, distress, and grief are emotions that we experience when going through the troubles and storms in this life. The Bible tells us that God is the source of our comfort. But how can we access that comfort?

Our hosts discuss 2 Corinthians 1:3-7. They also share different situations in their own lives about how a posture of surrender led them to that ever-flowing stream of comfort. Surrendering our cares, solutions, and even our expectations to God and choosing to trust Him with the outcome allow us to experience His comfort. And that comfort brings us rest, peace, and hope.

Listen to this episode and learn how to surrender your "moment" to God to receive the comfort to sustain you for what's next. Also, learn how to share that comfort you receive from the Lord with others going through hardship.

War is scary. War seems to be everywhere. Christians around the world are feeling a sense of dread and anxiety. Is World War 3 about to start? Is Nuclear War imminent?

Israel has officially and formally declared war for the first time in 50 years. Russia has continued in its invasion of Ukraine. Azerbaijan is poised to invade its neighbor. What does this mean? What do we do when it seems like the world is on fire?

In life, we face storms; we may face depression. But take heart; God is your ever-present help in times of trouble. He will be your strength. In this episode, we talk about how God intervenes when we are facing depression.

Our host clarifies that just because someone is seeking help through a healthcare professional or taking medication to fight depression doesn’t mean God is not involved. Then, our host takes us to 1 Kings 19—a blunt account of the prophet Elijah overwhelmed by a deep depression.

What happens in that chapter is a clear example of how God helps us when facing depression. God didn’t rebuke Elijah. God listened to him, provided him comfort, sustenance, and rest, and then gave him a job. Listen to this episode to hear our host sharing how God helped him in a similar way.

Our host also shares an impactful testimony from a couple who went through a dire situation, one of them spending 42 days in the hospital (in and out of comas), and how they both experienced miraculous strength, healing, and the lifting power of God through the ordeal. Listen to this episode and be encouraged.

On the night he was betrayed, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

Later that night, in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prayed, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.

The Bible tells us that God, "comforts us in our troubles so that we may comfort others." (2 Cor 1:4). But what if the comfort we receive actually comes from us comforting others?

It may seem a little backwards to some, but in this episode our host explains how, in providing help and comfort to others, we can receive healing and comfort ourselves. He provides personal examples and, breaking the fourth wall, shares an analogy using his stubborn but affectionate cat.

Listen and know that there is hope.  Sometimes we receive that hope directly from our friends and family, and sometimes we receive that hope from providing it to our friends and family.

"Make haste, o God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O Lord." (Psalm 70:1).

God is our deliverer and our strength. When times are tough, we can rely on him. With your feet firmly planted on the rock, you will not be moved, even in the fiercest of storms. While we may know this on an intellectual level, internalizing this knowledge can be tough. When going through hard times, you may still be down, stress or anxious. That's ok. It is ok to not be ok.

In this episode, our host shares his own struggles, how he tried to cover up his stress and how talking things through finally helped him. Listen and be encouraged. Learn from the mistakes of our host and reach out to your brothers and sisters in Christ when you need help.

Hurricane Katrina took away all his possessions and left him only with three changes of clothes and a car to temporarily live in with his family. In the middle of the chaos and the aftermath of Katrina, our host was longing for God’s comfort; he just wanted to be held by the Lord.

But then something happened that prompted him to praise. Wait. What? Praise? During the storm? Praising was something he didn’t want to do at that moment, but later discovered that he needed to.

In this episode, our host—Todd—talks about those moments when praising God is hard. He discusses the meaning of “a sacrifice of praise” in Hebrews 13:15-16, in part asking how can praise be a sacrifice?

Indeed, there are times when praising God is difficult; the storm is too harsh, and we don’t find the energy to elevate praises. But when we do, an infilling of strength and comfort helps us push through the storm. And we find ourselves being held by Jesus.

Listen to this episode to learn how Todd found the strength and comfort he needed through a sacrifice of praise—when praising God is the sacrifice. Listen to his account to know what happened afterward.

Do you ever feel like you are all alone and by yourself? Like the storm just won't end, and the waiting is too heavy to bear?

When things don’t go well, we sometimes withdraw into ourselves. After all, it’s not easy to be vulnerable…not with others; even less with God. But when we retreat into ourselves, we may miss God’s promise in Romans 8:38-39.

In this episode of Coffee With Jesus, our hosts, Sara and Todd, talk about how they were able to experience God’s presence in the middle of emotional distress and anxiety. How did they experience God’s presence and comfort when God seemed so distant?

They each make themselves vulnerable and share their stories, their stresses, their anxieties. They share how God was with them, even when it was tough to feel his presence, and how God did show He was with them.

Listen to this episode to discover how to avoid staying trapped by burdens and feelings that you are all alone. This episode will encourage you to know that no matter what is troubling you, God is waiting at the door for you to invite Him into your situation.

And if you need prayer, let us know how we can pray for you.

About 21 years ago, about this time, our host, Todd Uebele was sitting down to dinner onboard the USS Carl Vinson, somewhere in the middle of the Arabian Sea. One of the pilots there mentioned that a plane had hit one of the twin towers. At first, it was thought there a small plane, like a Cessna and an error by pilot. As they were watching the news, however, our host saw the second plane strike.

A short while later, out on the flight deck as all planes were recovered and made "best speed" made going northward. They had just relieved the Enterprise Battle Group, who were turned around and became part of our task force. Our host was immediately drafted to serve on the Admiral's staff and watched as our Task Force doubled and then quadrupled in size. He stood on the flag bridge and watched the very first planes launch for Operation Enduring Freedom. A friend on a nearby cruiser sent over videos of the very first tomahawk launch.

While our host is very proud of what he did, it pales in comparison to the first responders and civilian volunteers who literally ran into danger. Firefighters, Police Officers, EMT's, civilian volunteers. They are the real heroes and heroines. So many sacrificed themselves to help and save others.

Sometime after the terrorist attack (the first few weeks are all a blur), the Secretary of the Navy came to the Carl Vinson to address us. At the very end, when he looked around the hangar bay, he seemed to look at each one of us as he challenged us: "Never Forget."

Indignation. Disappointment. Frustration. How do we make sense of things when nothing around us seems to make any sense?

Sometimes the weight of discouragement and frustration is so heavy that it makes us feel disappointed, angry, or anxious. How did God respond?

Sometimes songs transport us to moments in life. Other times, they keep speaking to us through the life journey itself.

In this episode, our host, Sara, shares her story and a song that God used to remind her of His purpose and ever-flowing hope amid tears, hurt, and prayers from the deep. Going through a health condition that shattered her dreams of having more kids, lifesaving transfusions, surgery, and further surgery complications, Sara found peace and strength.

Listen to this episode to know how a scar that once reminded Sara of shattered dreams and traumatic health events turned into a smile (from a little girl’s perspective).

Sara delivers a bold message of hope through her desire to humbly open her heart. It is no coincidence, as she shared, that when she wrote this episode, the Uvalde shooting occurred. So, we invite you to find hope in this episode and join us in her heartfelt prayer for the Uvalde community.

In this episode, Todd takes a deep breath and describes what happened that morning. Through his story, he reminds us that regardless of how big or small our problems may seem, God is there for us.

Listen to this episode to see how God carries us through the storms of this life. Do not let the storms of this life overwhelm you. Reach out to Him. Be encouraged to take your problems to God, whether big or small.

Did you find the plastic baby in the King Cake this year?

King Cakes, parades, parties and celebrations. People love to talk about Mardi Gras, but when it comes to Ash Wednesday and Lent, the conversation tends to die down. Penitence can be kind of a downer. Sacrifice is hard.

But neither have to be.

In this episode of "Coffee With Jesus," our host has a slightly different take on Lent, than most people.  The Bible tells us:

"To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice." ~Proverbs 21:3

Join us as our host shares the true purpose behind Lent, and explains his own slightly less orthodox approach to using this time to grow closer to our Father in Heaven. In "Give it Up!" you'll hear both the successes and failures of our hosts personal journey.

While our current Lenten season may be close to over, or while Easter may have already passed, the lessons learned are valuable throughout the year. Listen and be encouraged. Then, develop your own strategy for growing in your walk.

The amount of constant decision-making we have to do every day is insane. It is aggravated by the things occurring in the world around us—things that we have no control of whatsoever. The worry we felt yesterday may have increased to stress today, and by tomorrow, anxiety may be taking over.

So, how can we stop anxiety when it shows up? We know God promised us peace beyond all understanding. Yet, how do we get there?

In this episode, our hosts Todd and Sara go over the blueprint to tackle anxiety when it shows up:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

Listen to this episode to learn a practical way to apply that verse to your day-to-day life. No problem is too big or too small for God to care about it. God cares about you.

So, do not be anxious; present your case to God through prayer and thanksgiving. He longs to hear your requests; let him help you.

You're sitting in the pew. There is an usher standing on either side. Then you see it...the offering plate. How much should you put in? What if you don't carry cash? Do you write a check? Who uses checks anymore?

While countless sermons have been preached on tithing, our host has some rather unorthodox views on the topic.

Is tithing really about putting money in an offering plate or is there something more to it?

You've heard it all before: "God loves a cheerful giver!" "Give and you'll be blessed beyond measure!" "Giving to the church is one of God's commands!" What you may not have heard is the real reason God encourages us to give and what tithing truly means: providing HOPE to others.

In this episode of Coffee With Jesus, we look to the Bible to discover the history of tithing, from Abraham to the early church. Through biblical study and biblical example, we'll discover what most sermons leave out: the true purpose behind our giving.

Do you have trouble being still? Is it difficult for you to quiet the chaos and draw close to God

This sequence of words may not be very appealing: “Be still, and know…” (Psalm 46:10)

They talk about the process of “trusted knowing” and how it works. They will also share some tools you can readily use to be still and know the next step in the right direction.

How can we be sure that God will always come through and help us when hardship overwhelms us?

This episode opens up with an assurance that God, our Father, gave us:

Do Christians need to go to church?

Our host  will address a burning issue in the 21st century: Do Christians REALLY need to go to Church? We could share many opinions about this matter. But, does the Bible say anything about it?

“Not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”  -- Hebrews 10:25

What does “meeting together” mean?

Todd examines the text in the light of the early Christian culture and compares this “gathering” concept to what the church does nowadays. He also talks about the “why” behind gathering and its impact on the Christian life. During this episode, Todd also shares a few of his own experiences.

Listen to this episode to see a biblical perspective on this topic and discover why the place of meeting is not as important as it is meeting together.

“You never know Jesus is all you need until Jesus is all you have,”—Special Guest, Michele Dalton.

Many see resilience as power from within. But after two major accidents that threatened her life, our guest, Michele Dalton, will show you how resilience is power from above when God meets you where you are.

It was 1990, the night after Thanksgiving when a 1974 Ford Bronco hit Michelle’s car head-on while she was at a stop sign. The fallout over the next year was extraordinary. After six months in a wheelchair, Michelle couldn’t find a job; she had no money; she couldn’t afford to go back to college, and debt engulfed her.

Her faith in God and the power of worship comforted her and carried her through that season. With time and through God’s fingerprints—she will tell you what this means—she found an agency that saw great talent in her and trained her as a graphic designer. This opportunity opened a new career for her.

Then in 2016, another car accident had her pinned to the passenger seat with a 2,500-pounds black Jeep Cherokee on her lap. In this accident, she never blacked out. Thus, the memory of it all made the experience more traumatic.

She found herself again in pain and with doctors telling her that she was never going to walk. But once again, God came alongside her to face that struggle and turn hopelessness into strength, purpose, and direction.

Michelle shares with us the short prayer she muttered during that second accident while waiting to be rescued: “Jesus, save us.” And He did.

God met her where she was and restored her.

Listen to this episode and let Michele tell you how God stuck around her side and saw her through. Discover how God made beauty from the ashes. From the struggle, a new passion ignited in Michelle—writing. She’s now sowing hope and helping those who are dealing with isolation, disappointment, and depression to find the joy of the Lord.

Join us as our host, Todd Uebele, guides us through this topic introducing the different schools of interpretation for Biblical eschatology. Then he takes us to Matthew 24:14-23 and Revelation 6:6. He then provides two key pointers to help us determine if we are in the end times:

  • Look at the scale of events around us.
  • Examine the history where we are.

Our host gives us a glimpse of the birth pains that Jesus mentioned in Matthew 24 and of the seven seals in the book of Revelation. He discusses some events and where we are right now in the light of the Scriptures. One point of emphasis he makes: even though nobody knows the time or the hour of Jesus' return, we know that He will return.

So, are we in the end times?

No matter how we answer this question, the implication is… Where do we go from here?

For the elect, Jesus’ followers, keep sharing in love the good news of the Gospel with those who are not followers; be watchful and ready. For those who are not yet followers, there is still HOPE. There's a refreshing gift of salvation, peace, and joy that Jesus already paid for.

How does fly fishing relate to our life in Christ?

Join us in God on the Fly, as our hosts Rick and Sarah reflect on what fly fishing taught them about God and loving others. The serenity they experience in fly fishing allows them to connect with the majesty of God, and the interaction with the fish speaks to them about how to value and be sensitive to the people around us. They both relate those fly-fishing experiences to their day-to-day life in their Christian journey.

Accompany Sarah as she takes you on a guided fly-fishing trip in Montana. She was looking for the opportunity to quiet her mind and center herself rather than catching a lot of fish. As she connected with nature, she got less concerned about the perfect casting technique and let the fishing rod do the work. That was when she caught the most fish. Similarly, in our walk with Christ, we need to take time to be still, let go of control, and let God do the work in us. She recalls Psalm 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Contemplate the ripples in the water with Rick. Those ripples remind him that beneath the surface of people, a lot is going on that we don’t know. Rick talks about the need for us to be sensitive to other people’s ripples and how to cast and share our true hope with them in love.

Listen to this episode and take delight as you navigate with our hosts through vivid stories of how they found the beauty in fly fishing, which is all about interacting with the fish rather than about throwing the perfect cast. In the same way, there is not a perfect technique to be fishers of men. We only need to love others as God loves us and look for the interaction.

Let’s be still, seek those ripples, cast, and let God do the work through us.

How can we taste God’s comfort amid anxiety, depression, and pain?

In Fly Away Free, our host interviews a very special guest; Ruth Fanshaw, poet, and author of the book Fly Away Free, Poems for Pilgrim Hearts. She has a neuroimmune condition and shares how in two occasions she battled anxiety, depression, and suicide thoughts. She narrates how she experienced God’s comfort and how God’s comfort allowed her to create poetry to comfort others.

“3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4, NIV)

Many times, Ruth couldn’t feel God’s presence through her emotional turmoil; but somehow, she always knew that Jesus was there with her. She was certain of God's character and the unchanging nature of his promises. This knowledge carried her during those difficult times and provided healing and comfort enough to create within her an overflowing well of joy and praise through poetry.

Join us as Ruth also delights us with two of her poems. Listen now, and find your own rainbow—the hope of God’s promises that always remain.

What is like to free yourself from the chains of anxiety, hopelessness, depressive forces, and remorse? How do you free yourself from the chains that hold you down?

In “Rising from the Dust,” special guest Pastor Tolani Abike Adewole describes how, through multiple miscarriages and inability to retain pregnancies, she was scorned by family members due to her cultural upbringing. She was hurt and labeled by others. Tolani shares how she found in the Word of God the antidote to rise from the entanglements and systems we see ourselves in. She unpacks Isaiah 52:2: “Shake off your dust...Free yourself from the chains on your neck...”

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”

And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”  -- Isaiah 6:8

Most people called by God have one of two reactions.  Isaiah's, where they enthusiastically embrace what God has called them to do, or Jonah's.  Jonah hopped on a boat and went the other way.  It took getting eaten by a whale and being spit up on shore for him to do God's will.  In this episode, Todd explains how he is more like Jonah, but hopes you are more like Isaiah. He keeps it real and hopes you will too.

Previously, I would fret every little detail, praying for help as every little problem arose.  While there is nothing wrong with praying for help, I did so more out of anxiety then I did out of faith.  This time, I told God that I would trust to be in control.  If any problems came up during the trip, I would not fret or get anxious, I would simply trust in Him.
