When it comes to implementing "consistency" in our lives, I suggest starting with these plans of action:
1) DEFINE it for yourself
2) Start in just one avenue of your life
3) START TODAY!

Feel like you don't have enough time to do the things you want to do? Think again....
In the book The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry, John Mark Comer offered this perspective:
"The average American reads two hundred to four hundred words per minute. At that speed, we could all read 200 books a year in just 417 hours. But can you guess how much time the average American spends on social media each year? The number is 705 hours. TV? 2,737.5 hours!"
So is the reality that we don't have enough time, or perhaps allocating that time poorly?

"And why worry about a speck in your friend's eye when you have a log in your own? How can you think of saying, 'Friend, let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,' when you can't see past the log in your own eye? Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye: then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend's eye" - Luke 6: 41-42
My challenge to us this week is to concern ourselves with our own imperfections before looking at anyone else's. Where can we be better? Where am I coming up short? Where am I not fulfilling my mission?
Let's make that happen this week TEAM - Time To Work!!! God Bless.

"What you put into your mind in the first hour of your day sets the tone of your mind for the rest of it" - Brian Tracy
Protecting this time for yourself is one the keys that has unlocked tremendous growth in my life, and I know it can for you as well. My morning routine includes:
1) Walk The Dog
2) Pray/Read The Bible
3) Read
4) Work-Out
While this type of start does not guarantee anything, it certainly increases the chances of making the next 12-16 hours that much better yourself. Make it a GREAT one y'all - Happy Friday!

Sometimes a shift in perspective is all we need to move ourselves in the right direction.

"It is not so much the lack of technical information that holds us back, but more the lack of self-confidence"
Growth is found when we step outside of ourselves and into the unknown. How do we find the courage to do so? I would suggest the following:
1) Be purposeful in seeking out situations to find small wins and stack them up over time.
2) Find ways to build tangible and intangible skills every single day
3) Find people and/or communities that will aid in this mission
Make it a GREAT day y'all - God Bless!

Are we focusing on what we can or can't control? Are we focusing on what we have or don't have? Are we focusing on the past, present, or future? How we answer these questions probably determines a lot when it comes to how I feel on a consistent basis.
As we progress into this week, I challenge us all to FOCUS ON HOW WE WANT TO FEEL. If we can make this a strong habit in our lives, it is my great belief that we will enhance our experiences and get the most out of each and every day.

The truth is inconvenient. We know working out is necessary for a healthy body, but do we have the discipline to do it? Leaders do not get people to believe in them, but rather find ways to get people to believe in THEMSELVES. It isn't about us as coaches, teachers, parents, or people of influence - all that matters is how we move the hearts of others in a positive direction.

As we approach this week I challenge us all to one, produce more of something that we are trying to get better at or be creative in, and two, broaden our horizons and seek out something to learn or do that is outside of what we normally do. After being released, Riley had a short stint with the Tennessee Titans before deciding to retire and set his sights on a new career in Real Estate. Riley currently lives in Denver, Colorado and works for The Bartic Group at Keller Williams Realty.
As we attack this week my friends, I challenge us to be mindful and present in the big and small moments. Let us realize the importance of not just the championship game, but rather the months and months of preparation every single day, that gives us the chance at performing AND enjoying the championship moments. Make that happen this week yâall.

I have been receiving some messages as of late in regards to who I am as a person, where my story begins, and the different things that I have learned along the way so far in my life. I thought this suggestion was fantastic so for this Friday's post/episode I decided to reverse engineer my interview and have my beautiful fiancè Jane ask me all of the questions! We cover everything from my upbringing, biggest influences and mentors, and how I got my start in the post-collegiate world. Make it a great weekend y'all!
As we embark on the week ahead, I challenge us to view one aspect of our lives with a process-minded approach. Rather than judging ourselves over the wins and losses that come our way, letâs seek the learning and progress in those situations and build off of that wisdom. Use it to be better the next time, and continuing on our way on that path with allow for greatness to be realized.
Bennie is a native of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and alumnus of Michigan State University. He played played football for the Spartans from 2010-13, capping off his career with a Big Ten Championship and Rose Bowl Victory his senior season.
Bennie had his sights set on the NFL after graduation and signed with the Denver Broncos as Undrafted Free Agent. He spent three years in Denver which was highlighted by winning the Super Bowl during the 2015 season and catching the final pass of Peyton Manning's career.
After short stints with the Chicago Bears and New England Patriots, Bennie signed with the New Giants where he has played the last two seasons. His most recent feat is the writing and publishing of his book Silver Spoon: The Imperfect Guide To Success, which is set to debut on January 28.
As we embark on this week I challenge us to seek positive energy and influence in all that we do. When we are talking to our co-workers, letâs be that vibe. After the guy driving in front of us cuts us off, letâs take a deep breath and keep it moving. When everyone else is talking about how the world is such a mess, letâs give them a reason to think the opposite.
Be that person this week, be purposeful in that pursuit, because we can and we should. Make it a great week yâall!
Pratik is entering his fourth season as the Giantsâ Director of Performance Nutrition/Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. Patel joined the Giants after time at the University of Oregon, where he was the Athletic Departmentâs Director of Sports Nutrition since October 2014. Patelâs job was to develop and direct the Sports Nutrition Department and manage the daily nutrition needs for 18 athletic teams and sports. Prior to his arrival at Oregon, he acted as the Sports Dietitian to the Michigan State University Athletic Department serving 23 teams and 720 athletes. Patel is originally from Shawnee, Kansas and went on to receive his undergraduate degree in Dietetics and Masterâs in Kinesiology from Kansas State University, where he also acted as the Sports Dietitian for the Menâs Basketball team. He began his career in sports as an intern learning from the staff at the Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, and at the University of Kansas.
As we embark on this week, I challenge us to pick an aspect of our lives and define what success looks like in that realm. A big question I suggest asking is do we need more of that specific thing in our life, or would simply being better in it or at it find us in a healthier frame of mind. Do I need to work more hours, or do I need to be more efficient with those hours? Do I need to be making more money, or do I need to manage it better? Do I need to have more friends, or do I need to be better and more purposeful with the ones I currently have?

Without question our genetic make-up plays a big role in how our mental and physical biologyâs are formed. So, when it comes to our skillsets, whether it be leadership, how fast we can run, or our reading ability, it would be easy to write these things off as natural talents that were gifted to us at birth. However, through personal and work experiences, I have witnessed firsthand how this could not be further from the truth, and if willing, just about anything in our lives can be improved upon through hard work and purposeful approaches.
Logan is a native of Zanesville, Ohio and current graduate of Ohio State University. During his time in Columbus he majored in Sport Industry and walked on to the Buckeye football team in winter of 2018.
Logan's story of trying out for the team is a modern-day Rudy-like story, as he was working as a maintenance personnel at the football building when he was invited to work out for an opportunity to join the team come spring time. He worked his way onto the roster in the fall of 2018, and the rest is history.
Hard work needs to consist of seeking purpose in our pursuits, consistency over a quality amount of time, and an open mind to what we find by doing so. Itâs okay to not know what to do, itâs okay to not know what the step looks like, and itâs okay to not have your life figured out today. But, taking action and putting our efforts towards something we feel could lead us to happiness and/or greatness is necessary, and finding the courage to make that happen could be just what you have searching for all your life. Make it a great week yâall!

Whatever education we do hold, whatever grace and kindness is within our souls, and whatever knowledge can help someone else for the better, seek out opportunities to act on those things. At the end of the day, whether we like it or not, we will be judged for what we have done and acted on, not how many books we have read or how many degrees we obtained. Go out and act TODAY, and make the difference you wish to see in the world.
Niko is a native of Northville, Michigan and alumnus of Michigan State University. Since that point, Niko has worked as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for four Power 5 schools that include Michigan State, Mississippi State University, University of Maryland, and currently at Ohio State University. In his current role Niko is in his third season as an Assistant S&C Coach for the Buckeye football program, coming off their third straight Big Ten Championship this previous weekend.
My challenge for us this week is to first take time for quiet, purposeful thinking and attempt to understand ourselves 1% more each day. Performing this step first is vital because owning ourselves and who we are is the responsibility necessary to a better life in all realms. Once this step is initiated, then and only then, can we approach conversations with others in the appropriate light to be productive and enriching, rather than the other way around.
Colin is a native of Wathena, Kansas and graduate of Missouri Western State University. Coach McQuillan is currently the Defensive Coordinator at Southwestern Oklahoma State University and is going into his third season with the Bulldogs.
What are your daily habits and how are they affecting your ability to optimize yourself? Is your mindset supporting your current and future well-being? How about your environment? Family? Friends? Only we can answer these questions for ourselves, but ultimately, we have the chance every single day, for nine hours and forty minutes at the least, to make strides in the right direction through our habits and processes. The choice is ours; how can we be better?

When the opportunity presents itself, I encourage you all to choose a life of teaching over telling, and your footprint will always be one beyond your wildest comprehension.

Do actions matter? Absolutely. Do inactions matter, absolutely? The combination of these two entities and finding the right mixture of both will allow us the opportunity to discover the things in life that we strongly desire to find. As we move forward with our week, I challenge us all to find one thing that we can implement into our lives that will help us be better, and to also find one thing that we can remove or stay away from that will help us in that same pursuit. Think purposefully, decide on a certain path, and go. Make it a great week yâall.

Most recently he co-founded a company called Off The Record, that aims to create human connection through phone free experiences.
As we embark on this week I challenge us all to take some time, be honest with ourselves, and seek to recognize where our strengths and passions lie. We may find the answers immediately, or it may take longer, but we must ask ourselves these questions if we wish to find more fulfillment and purpose in our lives. Make it a great week yâall.

The process towards changing for the better and taking positive steps in the right direction is not about doing so over night, but rather making one small change after another and allowing them to add up over time.
Give yourself permission to have patience, take your time with the process, and eliminate judging yourself along the way. Simplify rather than complicate, be consistent, and make it happen because YOU CAN, AND YOU SHOULD.
The Plymouth, Michigan native is an alumnus of Michigan State University, where he majored in Economics while also playing second base for the baseball. He was a three-time letter winner and two-time academic All-Big Ten selection during his time with the Spartans.

You see, ânormalâ is a myth. There is no such thing as normal. There is no such thing as perfect. There is no such thing as flawless. On the other hand however, what there are plenty of, are imperfections and flaws, and THAT IS OKAY!
What I believe is that because of imperfections, we can therefore have much more empathy for one another, and help others recognize and work on their shortcomings, while they can help us do the same.
Tony Lippett is a native of Detroit, Michigan, where he was born and raised until heading off to Michigan State University on a football scholarship. When it comes to confidence, as well as most other things in my opinion, this attribute can be classified as a skill, meaning that it can be improved upon through our own efforts and endeavors. A common misconception of confidence is that we are either born with it or not, and not much can be done to help our cause in that regard; I highly disagree.
Tres is a native of Solon, Ohio. He attended Michigan State University where he majored in Kinesiology and Human Biology, while also playing Wide Receiver for the Spartans and becoming a three-time letter winner and two-time Academic All-Big Ten Selection. Tres is currently in his second semester of medical school at Case Western University.
The debate on specialization has been around for quite some time. There has always been and always will be people on both sides of the argument. On one hand, you have an incredible example of Tiger Woods, who started specializing in the game of golf since the time he could walk. On the contrary, you have an athlete like Roger Federer, who dabbled in a variety of sports until finally settling on the great game of tennis. So the question remains, if both of these approaches can turn out well, which path should we choose?

Throughout our schooling and childhoods we are presented with ways in which we should think, or act, or problem-solve, and that is all well and good. However, as we begin to get older and see the world through our own eyes and minds, are we accepting the opinions and teachings of others as our own because we truly believe in them as well, or are we seeking to form our own opinions on things and find out where our own hearts, minds, and souls lie?

As we grow older we seem to accept the ârealityâ that what we are good at and should accept as our fate is set in stone; our younger, more vibrant days are behind us, and it is time to stop searching or trying for more. However, what if there is still more inside of us that is yet to be revealed, and that revealing is what will take us to the next level, or allow us to make that impact that we have always wanted to create?

I challenge us this week to identify the parts of our lives that are already maximized as well those that need work in getting up to speed. When searching for these answers, maybe an area that we are maximizing can afford to be shown a little less attention in exchange for placing that care and effort somewhere else.
"The first and hardest step is just doing it. Get up, find a way, and go do it without concerning yourself over the opinions of others"

âWhen you get yourself into nature â in all its majesty, volume, and power â you are put into a position of insignificance very quickly. As youâre now at the bottom of the pecking order, youâre able to properly assess what you are doing. Thereâs a certain level of humility that nature demands of you, especially when youâre fully participating in it.â

Through self-awareness and emotional intelligence, we can begin to identify when there are aspects of ourselves that need to be addressed or fixed. It is when this realization takes place that we have to choose whether to use a Band-Aid to cover up the shortcoming or perform the necessary surgery to truly fix the problem.

âLeadership is the ability to uncover the best from your team by removing the obstacles that prevent them from accomplishing that task.â This definition of leadership was provided on our podcast a couple of months by Mr. Adam Powers, and perhaps it may seem as if it is just another meaning of leadership that likes to get thrown around often. However, if we are to take a few extra minutes and look deeper into the context of that definition, there is something profound that is frequently overlooked when it comes to leading, and that is adding value to the lives of those around us sometimes means taking away things that inhibit real growth to be found.
Blair White was born and completed his primary education in Saginaw, Michigan. After high school he had the opportunity to walk-on as a wide receiver to the Michigan State football team. He is particularly fond that his teammates and coaches voted him the Biggie Munn Most Inspirational Player Award after earning a scholarship in 2009. He captained the MSU football team his senior season and received the Presidentâs Award for the Big Ten Conference Medal of Honor as the graduating male athlete with the greatest proficiency in athletics and scholastics. He later went on to play a couple seasons with the Indianapolis Colts under the tutelage of Peyton Manning.Â

Dr. White believes he has a duty to contribute meaningfully to society and create value for people in his community and the world, and he strives to stay involved with outreach programs and community initiatives as much as possible.
As the world around us continues to evolve, there are also certain aspects that remain the same. The advancements that we are making in many arenas of life are truly fascinating, and can potentially make our lives easier and more enjoyable. Yet, with all of the progressions that we are witnessing daily, one of the most foundational elements of our existence remains: the world is not getting weaker, so we must get stronger.

As a leader, it is my belief that the first order of business in this type of role, or any role for that matter, is getting to know your people. One way in which we can make this happen is by being purposeful in our interactions with those we are leading, whether it be formally in a sit-down meeting or informally as we pass each other in the hallway. One of the fastest ways to develop relationships with others is by showing we care for them by listening to what they have to say, understanding them as people, and helping them achieve their fullest potential.

Whether it be in our own lives, our childrenâs, or otherâs, one common downfall in our attempts is trying to pave the road ahead for ourselves, rather than paving OURSELVES for the unknown route of that road.

It is hard to ask others to like us if we first struggle to look in the mirror and know who we are ourselves. I challenge us this week to look into that mirror and ask the person looking back at us âwhat can I do today to better understand myself?â

â Having hope means that one will not give in to overwhelming anxiety, a defeatist attitude, or depression in the face of difficult challenges or setbacks. Hope is more than the sunny view that everything will turn out all right, but rather it is believing you have the will and the way to accomplish your goals" - Daniel Goleman

âSociety is commonly too cheap. We meet at very short intervals, not having had time to acquire any new value for each otherâ - Walden
The world we live in and the people that consume it sometimes take on the approach that busyness is ideal, companionship is always needed, and time away from even our closest friends can be detrimental to our well being. At different times these situations are always welcome and very much needed, but to what extent? If we are always around others and constantly in motion, where do we find time to improve upon ourselves and develop greater value that we can bring to the table?

Would it be possible to re-train our conversational skills and seek to approach our conversations with the end goal of understanding the other personâs perspective, rather than prove it right or wrong? Would this method lead to more productive and enriching interactions that could benefit both parties involved?

Are we indirectly putting a lot of focus on controlling our environments so our character is not challenged? Are we afraid to seek a new challenge, new environment, or new relationship because it may expose us for who we really are? Would being consistently exposed to a wide variety of environments aid in our âcharacter development?Â

âBeauty is the result of gradual growth from within outward, of the necessities and character of the indweller, who does it themselves, without ever a thought for the appearance.â

The central idea behind this notion is that if we are to lead those around us, we first and foremost must absolutely focus on the development and maturation of our own hearts, souls, and minds.

I have found that the best way in which to keep finding victories and significant advancement in our lives is to change when we donât have to, especially at the top of our game.
If we can take on a viewpoint that we may not be where we eventually want to be in the future, in order to get there, we must appreciate the journey and the lessons we are learning in the moment to give us a fighting chance at seeing our dreams come true.
In todayâs discussion we are joined by the beautiful, loving, gracious Mrs. Karen Sadler. Karen is the leader of the Michael Sadler Foundation and beloved mother of my friend and teammate, Mike Sadler.
Mikeâs extraordinary life was abruptly halted when he died in a tragic car accident in Wisconsin on July 23, 2016. At the time, he was volunteering at a kicking camp to mentor young players. His commitment to helping others, contributing to community and embracing his love of family, friends, and society was constant. He lived his life with impeccable character. Only after his death did we realize the tens of thousands of lives he affected because of his integrity and the way he chose to live life.
Michael earned unparalleled recognition in academics and athletics. At MSU he earned a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a master's degree in Public Policy. He was an All-American as well as the first-ever, four-time Academic All American in MSU history. Michael was a member of the National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Class of 2014 and a William V. Campbell trophy finalist. He was awarded the Big Ten Conference Medal of Honor in 2014 for outstanding athletic and academic achievement. Awards that Mike received are now being renamed in his honor. Michael was proud to be a Spartan and was excited to be entering Stanford Law School.
We will be hearing from Karen today to give her a platform that will raise the awareness and reach of Mikeâs foundation, and to get a better feel into who Mike was and the impact he made on so many of us, and still does to this day. Please take a listen to what Karen shared with me in our conversation on the Podcast above, and check out the organizationâs WEBSITE (MICHAELSADLERORGANIZATION.ORG) and TWITTER (@SADLER_3) for information to how you can help this amazing effort.
If we consider what success truly means to us individually, then the result of that finding leads us to realize that if âsuccessâ can vary amongst individuals, then âfailureâ is surely subjective as well.
If we define ourselves by the improvements we have made over the course of our lifetimes, our happiness and confidence will surely be elevated, and we will find ourselves much better off as a result.
"There are many reasons that I believe athletics have a positive influence on those that participate, but the two things that I try and stress to our athletes and coaches are to focus on every detail and make yourself uncomfortable as often as possible."
If we hope to build trust with one another, plentiful but quality micro-actions are to be taken each day to build up that trust, which is, metaphorically speaking, âdepositingâ pennies into the Trust bank. These small but meaningful actions and words build up over time to allow trust to accumulate and thus our relationships improve and grow.
Sports have the ability to change someoneâs life for the better because it teaches them how to persevere, how to overcome, how to push yourself to the limit spiritually, mentally, and physically. Whether you are part of a team or in an individual sport you have to learn that the only two things you can control are your effort and your attitude.
If we ourselves can live out how we want our culture to function, and do it in a wholesome and genuine fashion, this will permeate into the lifestyles of others and create the environment we desire.
It is in moments of challenge and uneasiness in which our very being is forged like a piece of metal under a blazing fire. If we want to improve our lives with a voluntary mindset of seeking challenge, we are to take on the role of that metal, and put ourselves to the fire so that we too may forged into who we can potentially become if we so choose.
This transformational experience as a Walk-On facilitated the cultivation of my unique personal values while simultaneously teaching me to be resilient in the face of disappointment. I know through the journey of medicine I will encounter many obstacles but I also realize the commitment to my goals will have a positive impact on my future patients.Â
If we examine the most elite people, regardless of industry or occupation, emotional intelligence is more times than not one of their sharpest tools, if not the sharpest, in their leadership toolbox.Â
"Toughness is the ability to be the same person every single day, regardless of circumstance" - Coach Niko Palazeti
Ben Boudro- owner of Xceleration Fitness and TWO-TIME METRO-DETROIT TOP FITNESS FACILITY - joins us today for our third edition of Friday Discussions.
I love challenges, and the journey of taking on challenges and chasing dreams makes it all worth it in the end.
If we can put forth significant effort into living truthful lives so our real intentions are well-known by others, that will create an environment of transparency, which then will create a byproduct of trust, which is the basis for everything meaningful and truly desirable in life.
Sometimes we get caught up in trying to make ourselves sound smart, rather than giving others the opportunity to do so. Guard heavily against allowing your ego to get in the way of letting all that knowledge be shared with those around you.
What I have found is that people care more about trust then respect- I know what youâre thinking- âhow can that beâ. In my opinion, respect can be demanded based upon the position you have, while trust is freely given and earned.
When the opportunity presents itself, I encourage you all to choose a life of teaching over telling, and your footprint will always be one beyond your wildest comprehension.
