We've got another draft under our belt. While Molly didn't get a single pick right, Ralph batted 1,000. The only player on his wishlist, OL Cody Mauch was scooped up by the Bucs in the second round. We moved up to acquire the NDSU tackle, who will likely play at guard for the Buccaneers. The Buccaneers went heavy defense this draft. Unsurprising given HC Todd Bowles is a defensive guy. Tragedy struck the Bucs family this weekend when Shaq Barrett's two-year-old daughter drowned in the family's pool. The strategy is simple: the player must be from a southern school and projected to go near the Bucs pick. Molly likes OT Darnell Wright in the first round for his Jensen-like demeanor. OLB BJ Ojulari is Molly's pick in the second round. His high character was a major draw, in addition to his toolkit of moves. In the third round, Molly selects RB Kenny McIntosh. Dan Canales joins the Buccaneers as offensive coordinator. Canales was the quarterback coach at Seattle this year, assisting Geno Smith in the rehab of his career. It's a promotion for Canales, and as such we have no clue what the Buccaneers offense will look like. The Buccaneers will also cut Leonard Fournette and Donovan Smith, adding to the uncertainty. Unfortunately, it's just the start of cuts to the Bucs roster as the front office pays the bill for the last three years of cap finangling. Many Bucs fans will agree with Smith's ouster after his performance in 2022 where he regressed markedly, particularly with penalties. Media is reporting he experienced personal 'tragedy', which perhaps explains the regression. A number of players experienced tragedy last year, and we posit it may have had an impact on the field.

Both of us agree that this Super Bowl was pretty boring. The penalty that basically gave the Chiefs the win really summed up this season as a whole. What could have been an exciting game fizzled out in a bad way. Ralph discusses his thoughts on the Damar Hamlin situation and how it is incentivizing injuries. And what is going on with the Bucs offensive coordinator search? It seems like a mess, as though they did not have any plan in place for after they fired Leftwich.

Tom Brady announced his retirement this week, sending the Buccaneers back to the basement. QB coach Clyde Christiansen revealed Brady received news of his divorce during training camp and subsequently lost 15 pounds, which explains a lot about the season. It's disappointing Brady couldn't go out on top with a Super Bowl win, but the retirement was probably came at the right time. It does not bode well for the Buccaneers offensive coordinator search, however. The prospect of Tom Brady at quarterback would be enough to lure a cream of the crop coordinator. Without Brady, the appeal drops significantly. The candidates we've interviewed reflect that reality, which mostly comprise of assistant coaches. The Championship games were nearly unwatchable with the number of flags thrown, some of which changed the trajectory of the games. The officiating has been so atrocious it raises questions about the impact of legalized gambling on the game. The NFL has never had a referee scandal. What is it doing to safeguard against refs throwing games now that gambling on NFL games has been legalized in a number of states?

The Buccaneers offense certainly took a step back this season, but was Byron Leftwich to blame? We know Todd Bowles wanted more of an emphasis on the run game. Leftwich's offense is a vertical offense, proficient at long shots down the field as we saw in 2020 and 2021. It was never a running offense. Was Bowles asking too much? The result, as we saw, was a neutered passing game and a running game that was worse than years past. Further, the team took a step back in other areas, including the defense and special teams. That was not on Leftwich. So, while we aren't devastated or surprised by Leftwich's firing, we don't think it will solve the Buccaneers' problems. The Buccaneers also fired Specialists coach Chris Boniol, WRs coach Kevin Garver, OQC Jeff Kastl, assistant DL coach Lori Locust and RBs coach Todd McNair. QBs coach Clyde Christensen, senior offensive assistant Rick Christophel and OLBs coach Bob Sanders have decided to retire.

For the third year in a row, the Buccaneers are playoff bound, and division champs for the second year in a row. The team that showed up against Carolina is a team we can proudly ride to the playoffs (and Super Bowl). The Bucs week 17 matchup against the Panthers was hard fought by both teams. Both looked like they wanted a win. The Buccaneers defense showed up when it mattered, as did punter Jake Camarda during the botched punt. There's been debate whether the Bucs should even play their starters Week 18 against the Atlanta Falcons, as Bucs clinched the division already and the Falcons are playing for draft position at this point. Is it worth the risk of injuries to our starters? The point will certainly be raised should a key player actually suffer injury during the game, but Todd Bowles does not seem concerned, and Ralph agrees. Bowles said in his press conference that injuries happen at all times during the season - practice, the preseason, the first game. You can't play scared of injury because it's part of the game. Some have argued this game is meaningless and not worth the risk. This game is not meaningless to the Bucs - we can earn a winning record with a win. Further, we've seen teams rest starters and come into the playoffs flat. It doesn't guarantee an advantage come playoff time. Speaking of playoffs - the Buccaneers will play either the Dallas Cowboys or the Philadelphia Eagles at home in the wildcard round. Who would you rather play? Comment below.

This is for all the marbles - the NFC South title, a playoff berth. While we wouldn't technically be out of the playoff running with a loss, our fate would no longer be in our hands. The Panthers are coming off a record-breaking win over the Lions, where they rushed for a franchise-record 320 yards. The team has gone from rebuild mode to playoff contender in the weeks since the Buccaneers last played them. How bad do the Buccaneers want it? Mike Evans needs just 83 yards to get yet another 1,000-yard season. Can he and Brady figure things out? We also have to remedy the bad tackling from the first matchup. Luke Goedeke was a huge liability during that game, which will hopefully not be a factor with Nick Leverett starting at left guard. And while the Bucs are banged up, no one player is ruled out yet.

The Buccaneers defeated the mighty Arizona Cardinals in overtime on Christmas. The Bucs once again struggled on third downs, wide receiver connections, and tackling. Tom Brady didn't have the best game, throwing two interceptions. Nevertheless, we persevered and got the W. This week the Buccaneers need a win against the Carolina Panthers to secure their playoff berth. A win would also serve as retribution for the Buccaneers earlier loss against their division opponent. A loss would not be fatal to the Bucs playoff chances, but in that case their playoff hopes would be out of their hands.

There's no other way to say it: The 49ers loss was a better team putting the beatdown on the Buccaneers. Our blocking is bad, the tackling not much better. Brady threw short, inaccurate passes. The playcalling involved way too many screens. Our receivers got no separation. The defense got no pressure. All-in-all, it felt like we showed up and that was it. We have four more games until playoffs. While we're leading the division at the moment, the Carolina Panthers hold their destiny in their hands. Winning out would means the Bucs' playoff hopes are dashed. Do any Bucs fans think we have a good shot during the playoffs with the way this team is playing? We host the Cincinnati Bengals tomorrow, who are still fighting for their division and are on a hot streak. They have a ton of weapons on both sides of the ball. We fear another performance like that against the 49ers.

The Buccaneers loss to the 3-7 Browns is a tough pill to swallow. The team played well, only to break down by the 4th quarter, giving the Browns the opportunity to tie the game and take us to overtime. By then, the momentum was in their favor and they came out victorious. There is a plethora of targets to blame, including the coaches, players, management, injuries - take your pick. We're still over here scratching our heads. What in the world is going on??

We first delve into Raph's all-22 analysis of the Seattle Seahawks victory. Many of the Buccaneers' troubles through the early part of the season were rectified this game - the poor tackling, the dropped passes, the lack of physicality, uncalled penalties working in the Bucs' favor. The Seahawks didn't just lay there and take it by any stretch of the imagination. They played hard too, and Geno Smith played well. Field conditions in Munich were terrible. The Buccaneers will face the 3-7 Browns coming off their bye week. Jacoby Brissett has led the team against some tough opponents, but their record speaks for itself. The Browns have some studs on defense, to be sure, although it is not translating into wins. The team has had to sign a center off the street as starting center Ethan Pocic heads to IR. Vita Vea, if he plays (dealing with a foot injury himself), could have a good game.

Germany was going off for the Buccaneers as they overtook the Seattle Seahawks abroad. The Buccaneers put a complete game together and stayed strong throughout. The Seahawks, on the other hand, looked flat. The Bucs dominated the Seahawks in nearly every metric except penalties.

Ralph's knee jerk reaction to the Ravens game fell apart after review of the all-22. While everyone, including Ralph, piled on the defense and Devin White, the tape showed them fighting to the very end. The Ravens offense, and Lamar Jackson in particular, just bested us. But it was a fight. The offense is a different story. It seems everyone is in a fog, and it starts from leadership. We hate to see Tom Brady in the fallout from his divorce - you can tell the man is in a fog and it's contagious. We need someone on the offense to step up and be a leader. The Buccaneers face the Rams tomorrow. The Rams appear to be in a similar spot to the Bucs, coming to Tampa with a 3-4 record. Their woes include their offensive line, run game, and injury to Cooper Kupp. Is it a Super Bowl hangover? Both teams need to right the ship.

The loss to Carolina is a HEAD SCRATCHER. What is our problem on 3rd/4th and short? Why can't we score? Why are our receivers dropping balls? Where are our leaders? Why can't our defense generate turnovers or stop the run? Fans, we have no answers. We're just as perplexed as you are. It's early enough in the season that it could get resolved, but that takes the coaching staff and team identifying the issue and being able to fix it. It's a tall order.

The Carolina Panthers are a dumpster fire and present the perfect opportunity for the Bucs to get the awful taste of the Steelers loss out of their mouths. Not only are the Panthers dealing with an interim coaching staff, they've jettisoned their best player RB Christian McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers. The most challenging part of this matchup for the Bucs will be the unanswered question: Will the Panthers be tanking their season, or will Steve Wilks and Co. be looking for redemption?
Ralph analyzed the game film of the Steelers loss, and it was worse than expected. The Buccaneers were plagued by miscommunication, miscues and overall poor performance by nearly everyone. There are a lot of issues that stood out on the all-22, and it remains to be seen whether the team will correct them.

What a disappointing loss. The Buccaneers should have taken this victory easily, but the Steelers, simply put, wanted it more. Bucs couldn't convert on short yardage situations, and on the other side of the ball couldn't get stops when needed. It was a game of inches where every play mattered. The boo birds are out in full force after having been retired for three years. They're blaming coaching, Tom Brady, offensive line play, the run game - you name it, they're blaming them. In truth, there's probably some blame to go around. The team lacks passion and drive, it feels like, and that's a problem not easily solved. Luckily it's only October, we're 3-3, the rest of the NFC isn't doing that great either and we're still in a good position for playoffs.

The Buccaneers have historically struggled against rookie quarterbacks jettisoned to a starting position only weeks or sometimes days before our matchup. However, Kenny Pickett will face a different Buccaneers team. The Buccaneers will dominate the Steelers the same way the Bills did: with unstoppable deep threats, namely Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Our defense must look for opportunities for turnovers as the Steelers are weak in nearly every position group on offense. Ralph delved into the Atlanta game film. It was a cleaner game penalty-wise than originally thought, and certainly moreso than last week. The Buccaneers defensive line is not getting the push we want or expect, particularly out of Vita Vea and Logan Hall. The Buccaneers interior offensive line was beaten by Grady Jarrett during this game, while LT Donovan Smith manhandled Lorenzo Carter. RB Leonard Fournette had a few missed blocks this game, and has changed his run style a bit to target the defensive players.

The Buccaneers rise to the top of the NFC South with their win over the Atlanta Falcons Sunday. Leonard Fournette had a great game, topping not just the rushing stats but the receiving stats as well. The Buccaneers defense also clocked five sacks on Marcus Mariota. This game, however, is in the headlines for another reason: the trash officiating. The roughing the passer call on Grady Jarrett in particular has fans in a tizzy. However, the officials missed calls all over the place, including in the prior play where the Falcons got away with an egregious DPI against Scotty Miller.

Did you know the difference between the Bucs and the Chiefs in the 2020 Super Bowl was a toe? That's right, folks. Chris Collinsworth gave us the lowdown during Sunday night's game. The next Michael Jordan, aka Pat Mahomes, would have had that Super Bowl ring if it weren't for his pesky toe! Tom Brady is a mere afterthought when Pat Mahomes is on the field.
In reality, this game was closer than it felt. Little things gave the Chiefs the W. First, Bucs abandoned the run game and couldn't stop the Chiefs'. Second, and probably the biggest factor, was the atrocious officiating.
Oddly, Devin White disappeared this game, only days after being named NFC Defensive Player of the Month. His fire was sorely needed this game.
Nevertheless, it's a long season. Real football starts in November. Let's go Bucs.

This was a close game where the defense was able to hold Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense to only 14 points. The Buccaneers offense was incohesive. The absence of their top three receivers was felt. Nevertheless, the offense nearly came back to tie the game and take the Packers to overtime.

The Buccaneer will face their first regular season opponent this week when they travel to Dallas to face the Cowboys. The Cowboys are a slightly weaker team than the one the Bucs faced in the 2021 season opener, having lost LT Tyron Smith to a devastating hamstring injury. Rookie OT Tyler Smith will start in his stead. In addition, the team released RT La'el Collins this offseason, opting instead for Terence Steele. The team felt Steele won the job. Collins' $10M cap hit didn't help his cause, to be sure. In addition, the Cowboys have lost stud receivers Amari Cooper to a trade with the Browns, and Michael Gallup to an ACL injury that required surgery. Gallup will return this season but is not expected to see the season opener. CeeDee Lamb remains from the elite trio the Bucs faced last year. The Buccaneers finalized their roster earlier this week. Surprisingly WR Tyler Johnson did not make the cut. Head coach Todd Bowles said receivers Breshad Perriman and Scotty Miller beat him out for a roster spot because of their versatility on special teams. Johnson was signed by the Texans. Bucs traded LB Grant Stuard to the Colts, who have said his special teams prowess is a reason they signed him. The tabloids are reporting there's trouble in the Brady home, with Gisele being upset at Tom's unretirement. Mrs. Brady reportedly stormed out of the home and is with family in Costa Rica, leaving Tom with the kids.

We finally got a taste of what the Buccaneers will look like this upcoming season, with both the starting offense and defense making their debuts. It was a welcome relief from the sub-par football we've seen from the depth guys. The Buccaneers offense drove down the field, putting three points on the board. The defense was maybe more impressive, holding Matt Ryan and the Colts offense to punts the first two drives. The rest of the game was not as impressive. Once again, the wide receivers who need to have a good showing in a crowded room underperformed, particularly Scotty Miller. Special teams may have been a bigger disaster, with missed tackles and confusion galore. The Colts had great field position the whole game. Our returners couldn't get blocks to help them out of our redzone. Molly's theory: this is the first draft class post-Covid. It's a mess, as expected. Thankfully, our starters are head and shoulders above. They just need to stay healthy. C Robert Hainsey suffered an ankle injury during the game, but it is not expected to be longterm. In addition, his replacement Nick Leverett suffered a shoulder injury. That injury is also not expected to keep him out long. Our division rival the Carolina Panthers have also suffered several injuries, including backup quarterback Sam Darnold and kicker Zane Gonzales. The Buccaneers have begun cuts in advance of the league's August 30 deadline. The first casualties: WR Jerrith Sterns, OLB Andre Anthony and CB Kyler McMichael.

The Buccaneers performance against the Tennessee Titans in the second preseason game left something to desired. In contrast to the first game where the receivers and tight ends really shone, there was no player or position group that stood out in the second week. We saw some notable starters in this game, including Leonard Fournette, S Mike Edwards and second string CB Jamel Dean. We lost a potential starter in G Aaron Stinnie when he suffered an ACL tear and MCL sprain in the third quarter. Stinnie went on IR and is lost for the season. Rookie guard Luke Goedeke is getting first string snaps at guard in the aftermath of the injury. T Tristan Wirfs strained an oblique last week at practice with the Titans but should be ready by the regular season. After much fanfare and conjecture, Tom Brady returned to practice this week from his 11-day hiatus. A theory emerged last week that Brady may be a contestant on the Masked Singer. NFL insiders insist the absence was for a family vacation scheduled during Brady's brief retirement. We may see some starters in the upcoming matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Dolphins barely squeaked out a win over the Buccaneers in Week 1 of preseason. Overall, the Bucs performance was satisfactory, with the exception of a few freak plays that put the Dolphins ahead. Kyle Trask fumbled the ball, which could have just as easily been called an incomplete pass. The Dolphins got a freak interception on a checkdown pass to a Bucs receiver: the two struggled on the ground and the Dolphins came away with it. The game ended on a missed field goal by Jose Borregales, a headscratcher that looked like it could have been blocked but most certainly wasn't. Aside from those plays, the Bucs played well. WR Tyler Johnson stood out as the best player on either team. WR Kaylon Geiger showed flashes and we'd like to see more of him in the next two games. The Bucs tight ends were blocking with gusto. OL Fred Johnson stood out at right tackle, largely for his size and tenacity. The Bucs defense got constant pressure on the Dolphins offense and kept it a close game. Overall, it was a good showing by the Buccaneers depth. OLB Cam Gill, who made big plays in the Dolphins game, left the game early due to injury and was spotted at Monday's practice with a boot and using a scooter. RB Gio Bernard was also held out of practice, although there were no visible signs of an ankle injury. The NFL released its bottom 50 of its top 100 list. Buccaneers on the list included Shaq Barrett at #86, Antoine Winfield, Jr. at 75, Devin White at 64 and Mike Evans at 53. Former Buccaneer Aqib Taleb was present at a youth football game where his brother got into an altercation with an opposing coach and fired on the man, who died from his wounds. Former Buccaneer Mike Williams was set to be arraigned today, August 15 after a warrant was issued for his arrest on July 22. Williams turned himself in to police.

The Buccaneers kicked off joint practices with the Dolphins today. Things got chippy quite a few times, a common occurrence in joint practices. The Bucs will face the Dolphins at home this Saturday. We probably won't see starters, but could get a peak at the offensive line prospects, as well as the new defensive line. How will the Bucs fare this season with a completely new interior offensive line? This is a big question mark as Bucs fans eagerly await news on Ryan Jensen's injury. He's a huge anchor up front, particularly when both guards are new this year. A new center would make the line vulnerable where it would hurt Brady the most: right up the middle. We have confidence in Robert Hainsey, but Ryan Jensen will be sorely missed. A glimpse of light, however: Jensen was spotted at practice with just a knee brace. Time will tell how serious the injury is. Our prediction is the Bucs won't show their cards any sooner than they have to. However, they need to name starting guards soon so the guys have time to gel together. Todd Bowles is aware of this predicament, voiced also by Donovan Smith. The unofficial depth chart shows Aaron Stinnie at left guard and Shaq Mason at right guard. They're both the most logical at those positions, but there's still a competition for the job. The NFC South is in rough shape. Unofficial depth charts show the Falcons are weak at wide receiver. The Saints show Jameis Winston as starting quarterback, with Taysom Hill gracing the top of the tight end roster. The Panthers are a mess, with Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold both at the number one quarterback spot. Injuries have plagued the Bucs at training camp. However, it appears it is mostly heat related (with the exception of Ryan Jensen's injury). His replacement Robert Hainsey went down this week and was carted off the field. Not to worry: we're told it's just cramps. Mike Evans and Russell Gage also left practice for cramps. Stay hydrated, boys!

Happy birthday to Ralph! He can now buy that Julio Jones jersey he's always wanted. A mix of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, Jones can make an impact in a deep wide receiver room. His hamstring injury is healed and he's ready to chase a ring with Tom Brady. Other teams interested in signing Jones included the Packers, the Saints and the Colts. A call from Tom Brady sealed the deal.
Bucs also bring in TE Kyle Rudolph. Similar in size to Gronk, although not as bulky, he's also a great blocker. Between Jones and Rudolph, they may collectively replace Gronk's skillset.
Chris Godwin, who was initially not scheduled to return until mid-season, has miraculously been cleared for training camp thanks to TB12.

Rob Gronkowski has officially announced his retirement. The legend put out a statement on social media. His absence leaves a huge hole in the Buccaneers offense that cannot be filled. Ndamukong Suh said on an appearance on ESPNLive's NFL2 that it was unlikely he was returning to the Buccaneers: "It looks like the Bucs are out of the picture." He was a stud on defense next year, and like Gronk, the team is going to miss his presence. Ralph rewatches the 2021 season. Suh was among the best on defense, along with Mike Edwards. On offense, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Gronk were total gamechangers.

The Buccaneers surprised the fanbase with the addition of free agent Akiem Hicks. The signing basically closes the door on the return of Ndamukong Suh as cap space was already limited. Bears fans are disappointed by the loss. Hicks' attitude may replace JPP's presence in the Bucs locker room.
WR Travis Jonsen was arrested for DUI over the Memorial Day holiday weekend and subsequently released from the team.

The NFL released the schedule last week. The Buccaneers have five primetime games once again, although theirs is one of the toughest. The schedule includes a 9:30 a.m. game in Munich, Germany against the Seahawks. We'll match up against the NFC West and AFC North this year. Ndamukong Suh may sign with another team this year. The Browns and Raiders are potential landing spots, but the Bucs are not out of the running either. The Buccaneers signed three players after rookie minicamp, including WR Kameron Brown, DL Mike Greene and TE J.J. Howland. The team cut DL Kobe Smith and WR Austin Watkins to make room on the roster. The New York Post reports Drew Brees is leaving NBC after a year, to which Brees tweeted he is undecided what this year holds for him, also stating playing is a possibility. Those close to him say that's not a possibility, FWIW.

The Buccaneers shocked Bucs nation by trading away their first-round pick in the NFL Draft to the Jacksonville Jaguars. They gained the first overall pick in the second round and selected DE Logan Hall. In another surprising move, they picked up G Luke Goedeke at with the 57th pick. In Round 3, they snagged RB Rachaad White. With the first pick in the 4th Round they selected TE Cade Otton. Jason Licht triggered the Bucs fan base by selecting a punter with the 28th pick in the 4th Round, Jake Camarda. (Is it safe to say Bradley Pinion is out of a job?) Round 5 brought us CB Zyon McCollum. Round 6 brought us another tight end in Ko Kieft. With the 27th pick in the 7th Round the Buccaneers selected LSU LB Andre Anthony.

Jason Licht and Co. have done a phenomenal job in years past of building a team and acquiring depth that we are now, for the second year in a row, drafting the best available player rather than drafting for need. As you know, we do not follow college and therefore are ill equipped to evaluate players coming into the draft.
However, we can look at the Buccaneers roster and tell you where we are due for an upgrade. The most obvious place, in our opinion, is at the tight end position. We hope Rob Gronkowski has a gentleman's agreement with Jason Licht that he is coming back but will only sign after OTAs, etc. BUT in the event that's not the case, we have a serious dearth of talent at the tight end position. Cam Brate and Codey McElroy are the only tight ends on the roster. Any tight end the Buccaneers draft would have to be a blocker first. If we don't draft a tight end, it would indicate to us that the front office has a high degree of confidence that Gronk is coming back.
The next position where we could potentially spend a draft pick is at running back. The Buccaneers secured Leonard Fournette this off-season and he is set to be the starter. However, he's benefitted the last two seasons from the one-two punch of Ronald Jones. Rojo became a free agent this offseason and signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. This year, Fournette has Giovanni Bernard, Ke'Shawn Johnson and Kenyon Barner. Despite Barner being a three-time Super Bowl champ, the talent drop off after Fournette is steep. What do we do if Fournette gets hurt? Spending draft capital at the position makes sense.
This draft is stacked in the trenches, and the Bucs could use some depth at defensive line. We are still unsure if Ndamukong Suh will be back, but in any event another stud defensive lineman can't hurt. We have Vita Vea, Rakeem Nunez-Roches, Will Gholston and Pat O'Connor. But one injury to any of those and we're in trouble. In the event Suh doesn't come back, we need to replace his talent stack. Defensive line is a position where an upgrade would be useful.

In a move that shocked the football world, Bruce Arians announced he would step down as head coach of the Buccaneers, moving to a position in the front office. Todd Bowles will secede him as the new head coach. The Buccaneers made it official by giving Bowles a five-year contract. BA will stay within the organization as a Senior Football Consultant. The Glazers announced during the press conference today BA would be inducted into the team's Ring of Honor this season. BA's announcement has resurrected speculation there was a rift between Brady and BA, although BA once again rejected that assertion during his press conference. Bowles will still call plays for the defense, but Larry Foote and Kacy Rodgers will serve as co-defensive coordinators. The team also brought back backup QB Ryan Griffin today.

Free agency continues and the Buccaneers have locked up two key free agents: Leonard Fournette and William Gholston. They've also signed OL Fred Johnson, a former Bengal, and T Josh Wells. The Bucs have not yet reached agreements with Ndamukong Suh and Rob Gronkowski, although they are reportedly in talks with both. JPP still remains a free agent, as is Gio Bernard, Pat O'Connor, Steve McClendon. The defensive line is currently a little thin, and it remains to be seen whether the Bucs will fill the gaps through free agency or the draft. The Buccaneers lost Ronald Jones II to the Kansas City Chiefs. While Rojo showed promise at times, he failed to make himself non-expendable at the Bucs. This free agency period is bananas. The Buccaneers re-sign stud C Ryan Jensen. They bring in Shaq Mason in a trade with the Patriots (an absolute steal, btw). The Bucs sign S Logan Ryan, a Tom Brady guy. They also bring in Russell Gage with a phone call from Tom. Breshad Perriman is back. Chris Godwin is now under contract. Shaq Barrett and Mike Evans restructure their contracts to give us some wiggle room, and Cam Brate takes a paycut. We did lose several guys. S Jordan Whitehead went to the Jets for $7 million a year (a two-year deal). The Bills snagged TE OJ Howard on a one-year prove-it deal. G Alex Cappa, of course, went to Cincinnati the first day of free agency. The Buccaneers have some notable holes to fill and free agents still unsigned. The most pressing will be Ndamukong Suh and Will Gholston on the defensive line. The running back room is also an area of concern. Leonard Fournette indicates he wants to get paid, and as we know, Bruce Arians does not like to pay running backs. However, it seems like Ezekiel Elliot contracts are going the way of the do-do bird, so the market may not meet Lenny's expectations. The tight end room is also empty, with only Brate and Codey McElroy under contract, but Gronk is expected to return. A fourth tight end will likely be signed before the season begins. Deshaun Watson signed a monster contract with the Browns in a moved that shocked the NFL world. The Browns were out per media reports. Watson was meeting with the Saints and Falcons, who seemed like the final contenders. The Browns swooped in with a record breaking fully guaranteed contract and draft picks galore that the Texans and Watson couldn't refuse. The remainder of the NFC South now has to grapple with quarterback drama for the near future (lol).

Free agency starts with a bang for the Bucs, who not only get the GOAT back in a surprise un-retiring, but also retained star Center Ryan Jensen AND CB Carlton Davis. Both players were highly sought-after in free agency for their positions. The Buccaneers have not worked out a deal with S Jordan Whitehead, who is being eyed by Bucs fans as the next priority in free agency. Will Rob Gronkowski come back for one more season with Tom? He has reportedly been working out at the team facility every week. What will we do at running back? Leonard Fournette deleted a "goodbye, Tampa" Instagram post. The Bucs interior offensive line is a big question, but will be anchored by Jensen in the middle. Retaining G Aaron Stinnie offers consistency, having played in Cappa's absence during the postseason in 2020. Stinnie is a lateral move from Cappa and could start in his place with little disruption. That lives one hole at guard for the Bucs to fill through free agency, the draft or by promoting existing players on the roster. Nick Leverett and Robert Hainsey are recent acquisitions through the draft class the team has been developing.

The deadline to franchise tag players is tomorrow. Who will the Bucs tag? Chris Godwin? Carlton Davis? Jordan Whitehead? BA, when asked about the possibility of Jameis returning to the Bucs, said he wouldn't be opposed but it might not be the best place for Jameis. The Buccaneers lose another key piece in Ali Marpet, who announced his retirement Sunday after seven years with the team. It makes it all the more vital we re-sign free agents Alex Cappa, Aaron Stinnie and Ryan Jensen to ensure continuity on the offensive line.
Buccaneers staff writer and social media personality Carmen Vitali has announced her departure from the team. It is unclear where Carmen will head next, but we wish her the best.

The Rams' final drive was a disappointing showing by the Buccaneers' defense (like we had to tell you that). However, it wasn't the 40+ yard bomb to Cooper Kupp, but the play before that sealed the Bucs' fate. SMB was covering Kupp and inexplicably fell down, leaving Mike Edwards to move up and tackle Kupp. It was Jamel Dean's effort, or lack thereof, that allowed Kupp to get out of bounds and stop the clock. Had Dean tackled Kupp in bounds, the clock would have continued to run. The Rams were out of timeouts at that point and time would not have been on their side.
The next play was the bomb to Kupp. Bruce Arians said in his press conference that not everyone on the defense got the call to blitz. But the game film shows Lavonte David just standing there, hands on his hips, moving no more than three yards, while the Rams finished us off. He should have blitzed on that play, but took the time off, apparently. It was a terrible finish and uncharacteristic of Lavonte. Lavonte also took off the next play when the defensive line attempted to bat down the snap. It was like he had given up.
Adam Schefter proves once again he's a hack. Perhaps he had better sourcing than when he insisted Aaron Rodgers was leaving Green Bay the day before the draft. But the Brady camp is emphatic no decision has been made. Nevertheless, the communists at ESPN stand by their reporting. I hope Brady comes back to spite-win another Super Bowl just because of this report.

What a heartbreaking rollercoaster that was. Until late in the third quarter, it seemed like the Buccaneers were doomed. But the defense kept us in it, and in it, and in it. The offense made plays when it needed them and put enough points on the board to tie us up. Then Matt Gay struck with an assist by Cooper Kupp.
The team may have been defeated, but they went down swinging. Fans should be proud, and those guys should hold their heads high.

We faced the Rams in week 3 and it wasn't pretty for the Buccaneers. The Rams were more physical, Bucs receivers couldn't hang onto the ball, and the defense couldn't stop the Rams offense.
But the Rams haven't seen the Playoff Buccaneers. They haven't seen the defensive backs who nearly had five picks last week. They haven't seen Suh, Vita and Barrett firing on all cylinders. And most of all, they haven't seen playoff Tom Brady. Well... Sean McVay has. 😏
It'll be a close game to be sure, but the Bucs are coming out with a victory.

Bucs are back to form. This game was really not even close. The Eagles managed some garbage time touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but in reality this was a trouncing by the Buccaneers. All the Bucs playoff opponents from last year experienced PTSD watching that game.
With Dallas falling to the 49ers last night, the Bucs will face the winner of the Rams/Arizona game tonight. It will be a big matchup for the Bucs next week, and either team should be a formidable opponent.
A concerning takeaway from the Eagles game was the injuries to the offensive line. Tristan Wirfs suffered a sprained ankle and is wearing a boot. Bruce Arians said he'd have a better idea whether Tristan will play on Friday. Same with Ryan Jensen (but he'll probably play IMO).

Veteran Buccaneer fans know the pain of losing to the Eagles in the playoffs. It happened in the years before the Bucs made their Super Bowl appearance in 2003. It cost the team Tony Dungy. Ronde Barber righted the ship with his pick six in the NFC Championship. The victory took the Bucs to the Super Bowl, where they came away with the Lombardi.
We meet again nearly 20 years later. The teams are dead even in both regular seasons matchups and playoff wins. This game will be the tie breaker.
Ralph is eager to see the defense step it up. Now that playoffs are here, the studs need to show their brass: Vita, Suh, JPP, Shaq, Lavonte. We're counting on them. The Buccaneers will play at home in the wind and rain against a young, gimmicky team led by Jalen Hurts. We will come out victorious as long as we don't beat ourselves.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Carolina Panthers in a week 18 beat down, securing the 2nd seed in the playoffs. Mike Evans and Gronkowski balled out. Evans posted his 8th straight year with 1,000+ yard season, a new NFL record. The Philadelphia Eagles, a hated rival, are up next for the Bucs.

Antonio Brown's career is more notable for his bullshit than his skill. While his skill is up there with the best, the bullshit is unparalleled. He showed that again this week. Let's recap:
The week before the Jets game, his people go to the Bucs front office and ask for his incentives to be guaranteed. The team says no, most obviously because AB was on pace to hit them.
The Friday before the game, BA texts him to say we aren't resting in the final two weeks and will need him if he can play. AB says he tweaked his ankle but he should be good.
Saturday before the game, he texts an OnlyFans model, famous for toilet licking during Covid, to watch what he's going to do tomorrow. He sneaks her into the team hotel and films a porno. She also records the team space in the hotel. In the subsequent days, she posts a picture of a positive Covid test on Instagram and @s the Buccaneers saying they need to get the team tested.
Sunday - we know what happens there. During halftime, it's been revealed, Antonio lost it in the locker room at halftime because Gronk was getting all the targets.
The next week is filled with bizarre interviews, release of an album, text messages released by AB that contradict his own version of events, and so on.
When we signed AB, Molly warned that his ass was crazy and was adamantly against the signing. But we did what we always do: support the Buccaneers. Now that he's gone, we'll say it: It's clear AB is toxic and we don't need that shit, especially right now.

Molly is thankful for the distraction as the Jets were WAAAY too close to beating the Bucs in that one. A two-minute drive from the GOAT sealed the W for the Bucs. Cyril Grayson came in clutch again, causing Ralph to consider retiring the "Doink" nickname.
What happened with Antonio Brown? We're getting bits and pieces from the media but nothing definitive. Bruce Arians may or may not have benched him after he refused to go in because his ankle was hurting him. Bruce Arians then may or may not have told him to leave. If only there were an institution whose purpose was to gather information and report to the public what they found. At this rate, we'll never know.
It's on to Carolina again. We still have the #2 seed to fight for, and BA has said we're not laying down. A playoff berth isn't good enough.

To be fair, the Panthers came out with no energy and it showed. But it appeared the Bucs were feeding off their lackluster. A few guys had some oomph - Whitehead, Gholston, Stuard. But otherwise, we could have used some juice. Ralph hopes we're just saving our energy for the playoffs.
Our next matchup on the way to playoffs is against the Jets. We've seen teams like the Jets before, and they were wearing red and pewter. Molly watched the matchup between the Jets and the Jags from last week and all Ralph could hear from the other room were intermittent cackles and "Oh. My. God. Are you serious?!" QB Zac Wilson is just Sam Darnold 2.0. He's a little faster. The Bucs shouldn't have a problem with them, but half of our starters are out or injured.
Bruce Arians is out with Covid, and it appears the couch fainting over Antonio Brown's vaccination status (but what if he gives it to BA or Tom Moore?!) was for naught as Bruce Arians not only caught Covid from someone other than AB but he's also decidedly not dead. I'm sure the media will have an apology ready for AB at the next press conference.
The #2 seed is still up for grabs in the NFC. The Bucs can get it by winning out and a Rams loss. The Bucs would beat Dallas in a head-to-head tie.

This Victory Monday is a hat-and-t-shirt Victory Monday as the Buccaneers come away with the NFC South title. The Panthers didn't put up much of a fight, even against our second and third stringers.
Jordan Whitehead had an outstanding game, earning the recognition of the announcers during the game.
Antonio Brown was looking fresh on his return, playing 79 percent of the snaps and getting the bulk of the targets from Brady. He was targeted 15 times, which was more than the rest of the receivers combined.
Cyril Grayson stood out for his blocking, but also had a good day receiving.
Our run game was strong as well, with both Ke'shawn Vaughn and Ronald Jones having good days.
Jason Pierre-Paul sat this game, and Shaq Barrett sustained a minor injury that will likely sideline him the rest of the regular season. This gives Cam Gill and Joe Tryon-Shoyinka more opportunities in the coming weeks and will let our starters rest for playoffs.

What we lacked in pass protection, we also lacked in the ability to catch passes and run without falling. The game film was worse than the initial viewing, as if that was possible. The young guys failed to show up once they were called up.
The defense played well.
The refs missed some calls. The play where Patrick O'Connor was injured was particularly egregious given that Grant Stuard was flagged for hitting the kicker RIGHT BESIDE O'Connor, who was being held.
The Carolina game will hopefully being a rebound. The Panthers are in shambles. Both Sam Darnold and Cam Newton will play. To what extent is still unknown. But the team is on a four-game lose streak, and haven't won at home game in five matchups.

Could this have gone any worse? The Buccaneers shot themselves in the foot repeatedly with dropped passes, lost key players to injury and got shut out at home. The young guys failed to step up when we needed them most. To add insult to injury, the last came to division rivals.

The Buccaneers looked nearly flawless against the Bills, with the exception of the first offensive play and the first defensive play. After that, we made few mistakes.
Leonard Fournette has taken over the bell-cow role in large part because of his pass protection. The man is a phenomenal blocker, often sacrificing his body to keep his quarterback upright. It's no wonder Brady trusts him the way he does. Fournette deserves the game ball for the offense.
We got away with some holding. Fournette's first big touchdown probably should have been called back for a hold by Tyler Johnson.
Shaq Barrett deserves the game ball for the defense. He was no match for anyone on the Bills offensive line.
Ralph has lamented about the defense's lack of man coverage. That all changed this game... on the last drive where the Bills tied it up.
The Bills use QB Josh Allen for designed runs where he receives the ball and immediately bolts. It is challenging to defend. Teams are getting the ball out so fast against our defense. It's frustrating that the defensive line doesn't have time to make bigs plays because the plays happen so fast.

What. A. Game. They say all good teams win one they should have lost. When the season's over and we have another Super Bowl ring, we can point to this victory as that game. The Buccaneers, both offense and defense, were stellar in the first half. But the Bills made a run at a comeback, tying the game with 25 seconds left on the clock and taking the Bucs to overtime. The Buccaneers defense, while they let the Bills drive down the field, at least held them to a field goal and gave the offense a chance. Then, once overtime started, they stopped the Bills' offense on the first possession. Tom Brady and the boys did the rest.
It's smooth sailing from here. With the Cardinals loss to the Rams last night, the Bucs have moved up to second seed in the playoff picture. All we need is to win out and Green Bay to lose one and we are top dogs in the NFC and get a first round bye. Green Bay has to get through Baltimore this week, so that scenario could play out. Our schedule is relatively easy, with us still to face the Jets, Saints and Panthers twice.

It turns out the Falcons' offensive line isn't that bad. Shaq Barrett had a hard time against OL Kaleb McGary, and I daresay Barrett got beat for the first time since I've watched him. Others on the defensive line, like Ndamukong Suh and Will Gholston had good performances against the division foe.
Our offensive line just dominated. Donovan Smith played hard the first half, but then just looked exhausted the second half. Nevertheless, he played an aggressive game. Both teams looked spent at the end, and it appears they don't like each other too much.
The Buccaneers will face the Buffalo Bills at home this weekend. This game will have playoff implications for both teams. Should the Buccaneers win, they come that much closer to securing the division. If the Falcons beat the Panthers and the Saints lose to the Jets, it's a done deal. The Bills need a win desperately after falling to the Patriots on Monday Night Football, bringing their record to 7-5 and putting them in the 7th seed in the AFC. The Patriots rose to the #1 spot, and they're looking to hold it. The Bills can make up some lost ground by beating the Bucs and then beating the Patriots when they rematch in three weeks.
The Bills offense has some weapons in Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs. They can be dangerous with the long ball. But Josh Allen, like all running quarterbacks, is prone to bad decisions and it's cost the team in the past. In our opinion, this will be a close game with the Bucs coming out on top.

The Buccaneers have a good showing against our division rivals. The offense played great, particularly Chris Godwin who broke his own personal record for receptions in a game and topped Mark Carrier for third-most in franchise history.
Leonard Fournette has emerged as a workhorse running back, a feat no back has achieved in a Bruce Arians offense.
The defense demolished the Falcons. The interior defensive line deserves some recognition for this. Ndamukong Suh clocked two sacks on Matt Ryan, Vita Vea had two, and Cam Gill at outside linebacker had the fifth.
Aside from Tom Brady's pick six to a defensive lineman, we have no complaints from this game. Great team win. Now it's on to Buffalo!

The Falcons have changed since we saw them last Week 2: Cordarelle Patterson has proved to be a threat both in the run and passing games; and, their defense is starting to gel. Nevertheless, Tom Brady's streak will increase to 10-0 against the Falcons tomorrow. Matt Ryan will not be able to withstand the Bucs pass rush, and there aren't enough quick dump off passes in the world to lead them to victory.
Their defense, while improving, will be no match for Brady. They are playing a similar scheme to ours, which will not work in their favor as Brady sees it every week in practice.
The Falcons are still in the playoff hunt, and in fact are second in the NFC South with the Saints loss Thursday to Dallas.

The NFL and NFLPA agreed to a suspension of three games without pay for both Mike Edwards and Antonio Brown for misleading the league with regards to their vaccination status. As we predicted at the start of the season, the NFL's protocols are meant to punish dissenters rather than stop the spread of coronavirus.
Ralph goes through the game film from Indianapolis, which showed the Buccaneers played much more physical. The refs had a C performance. The Buccaneers receivers were solid, dropping only one pass, compared to the Colts' four drops.

THAT was an entertaining game. The Bucs should have been up by 20 to be sure, but they couldn't get it together in the first half.
While our expectations are high for the team, we have to remember that last season was not all sunshine and rainbows. We went through a lot of pain to get to the Super Bowl, and that made the victory that much sweeter.
It feels like the team is coming together again this year. You wouldn't think we'd have growing pains when we're the same players as last year. But every season is different. Hell, every week is different.
Our playmakers came to play Sunday against the Colts, never quitting and showing up when it mattered. Antoine Winfield Jr., Shaquil Barrett and Leonard Fournette all came to play. The Colts are a solid team that could be dangerous in the years to come should the team stay together, but this week they weren't 'with it' enough to topple the reigning champs. Better luck next time.

The Colts put a whooping on the Bills last week, but what does it actually mean? After watching the game, it was clear the Bills lost that game. The Colts simply capitalized on their mistakes. There's something to be said for that, to be sure, but what are the chances of a repeat this week against the Buccaneers? We both agree it's slim.
Tom Brady has said football starts after Thanksgiving, and here we are. The Colts lead the league in rushing, while the Bucs have the best rushing defense. The Colts defense allowed the most passing touchdowns in the league, and the Bucs offense has scored the most passing touchdowns in the league. It seems like the stats are in our favor.
Additionally, the Colts, while on a win streak, have played some of the worst teams in the league during that streak, including Jacksonville and the Jets. So their win-loss record may be misleading.
Ralph thinks this game will be a blowout, but Molly's not so sure.

The Buccaneers got a much-needed victory against the New York Giants on Monday Night Football. We won't lie... we were worried about the team after last week's loss to Washington. But the way the Bucs beat up on the Giants has quelled any doubt we had. Ralph repents!
Who should get the game ball? Steve McLendon for his first career interception? Tom Brady for his offensive prowess? Gronk for the energy he brings? The defense for its domination? There's really no wrong answer.
The Giants fired Offensive Coordinator Jason Garrett today for last night's debacle. How you put that on him is beyond me. We're in great shape in the division - now two games up on everyone else after they all lost this week.

Tom Brady was OFF this week. Missed 10 wide open receivers. TEN. That's 1/3 of his pass plays. It was like what happened in New Orleans: everyone was in a fog. But the offensive line played well. We had 10 receivers WIDE OPEN. Their defense was bad. But Tom checked down instead of throwing to those guys.
And then it came out: the TBT received allegations from a disgruntled employee that AB's girlfriend had asked the employee to obtain fake vaccine cards for AB. The disgruntled employee, a chef, believes he is owed $10,000 from AB, it should be noted.
Tom's personal trainer, business partner and best friend Alex Guerrero is also named in the article. He is alleged to have come to AB's house to photograph his vaccine card, which the team authorized him to do along with others to make collecting required documentation faster ahead of training camp.
Could this situation have contributed to what went wrong at Washington?? Tom looked uncharacteristic. We should have been up 50 on WFT right off the bat. But he just seemed like he was in a fog, along with the defense.
Some of our veterans are not showing up. Just not even trying. I have never seen these guys play with so much malaise. JPP, Suh, and Lavonte have to step it up. If they are, indeed, saving up energy for the end of the season as we've theorized before, then now would be the time to get it together.

What in the heck happened??? We spitball. The offense lacked energy and cohesion. The defense couldn't get a stop when we needed it most. The game plan was too rigid and was apparent it wasn't working there was no adjustment.
The good that came out of this week: Vita wasn't seriously hurt. The Cardinals lost to the Panthers, which may help us down the road with seeding. The Saints lost. Atlanta was embarrassed by the Cowboys.
The Buccaneers certainly have some kinks to work out but the loss wasn't as devastating as it felt in the long run.

The Buccaneers return from the bye to travel to Fedex field, where they will take on the Football Team. This should go much differently than when we saw them in the playoffs. First and foremost, we are prepared for running quarterback Taylor Heinicke. Secondly, there no one on the offense, with the exception of the offensive line, that stands out. The defense has slipped dramatically this season, ranking 27th in both points and yards allowed, and 18th in sack rate.
The Buccaneers will be without Antonio Brown and Gronk, but will see TE Darren Fells and WR Breshad Perriman take the field. Both have played in an Arians offense, Fells with the Cardinals and Perriman with the Buccaneers in 2019.

This episode is a little more charged than we like to go, but enough is enough. The Aaron Rodgers situation is a case of low status males in sports media using their platform to demand compliance. Dissenters, like Rodgers, cannot be tolerated.
What's even more absurd is that an NFL player KILLED a woman while this was going on - she burned alive, along with her dog - and Aaron Rodgers vaccination status was more important to the corporate media. How utterly batshit insane have things gotten?! The loss of a human life was less important than a professional athlete's medical decision, which, as far as we know, claimed zero lives.

While the Buccaneers were flagged for what felt like an exorbitant number of penalties, in reality the Saints only scored three points off of penalties. Overall, the one that hurt us the most was the holding call on Ross Cockrell. The Buccaneers were the benefactors of seven non-calls in a complete turn of events.
In general, this game was not our best showing. I wouldn't go as far to say it was Keystone Cops-esque, but it was like the team's brain was foggy at times. While the game did not turn out like we hoped, we'll rebound and be fine.

Has NFL officiating ever been worse than this year?? Between the BS roughing the passer call on Gholston (which negated Winfield's interception), the taunting call on Devin White, and the lack of calls against the Saints, those zebras can eff allllllll the way off.
Still, the Bucs were in it until Brady's devastating interception in the last two minutes. He'll be sitting on this loss over the bye, and will take it out in our Week 10 matchup against the Washington Football Team.

Sean Payton's franchise quarterback got retired by the Bucs.
Jameis Winston is facing his former team for the first time as a starter.
The Buccaneers were swept by the Saints in the regular season last year, and while they exacted their revenge in the playoffs, was it enough? Or does the Buccaneers defense want a piece of Jameis as payback for all the games that he lost them?
Jameis plays a very different role as quarterback of the Saints. He's throwing the ball significantly less than he did with the Bucs. Could you argue he's a game manager?
Should this game go wonky and the Bucs lose (doubtful), it will not have as big as an impact on the Bucs as the second game will. We'll still have a chance for revenge later on in the season. And there's no question the Bucs will make it into the playoffs, so our chances may be hurt by a loss, but not completely dashed.

After the game, we determined Leonard Fournette deserved the game ball. But after review of the game film, Ralph determined the offensive line, in fact, won us that game and thus deserved that game ball. Donovan Smith boasted afterward that he made #99 his son. The game film determined that was the truth.
The Buccaneers receivers had a few dropped passes, but the Bears had even more than that.
Bucs special teams played phenomenally, particularly #28 Darwin Thompson. He may be the new Ryan Smith, special teams stud.
Overall, it appeared the Bears coaches quit after halftime, electing the run the ball the remainder of the game.

The Chicago Bears game was a glorious, glorious beatdown. We've been on the other side of those types of games too many times, so enjoy it, Bucs fans! The defense showed resiliency even while missing many starters, including Lavonte David, Carlton Davis III, and Sean Murphy-Bunting. The offense had a record-setting day, with Tom Brady scoring his 600th passing touchdown, the only NFL player to ever do so.
We've been MIA the last few weeks due to a variety of reasons. Thanks for all of those who reached out. The biggest reason we took a pause was the Jon Gruden fiasco. It's about what we expected. This game is what the Patriots game should have been had the receivers caught the damn ball. The Buccaneers played a complete game. Miami, to their credit, played hard and showed flashes. However, the Buccaneers did not get out unscathed. Lavonte David suffered a high ankle sprain after Ndamukong Suh rolled up on his ankle. Tom Brady could be seen icing his thumb on the sideline. It doesn't appear it will affect his availability this Thursday when the Bucs face the Eagles in primetime.

The score against the Patriots was not as lopsided as it should have been. Between the Buccaneers receivers dropping seven passes, OJ Howard's abysmal blocking and the refs blowing some calls, the score should have been closer to Ralph's prediction of 45-10.
The Buccaneers defense did a lot of good things, even with the injured secondary. To be sure, Richard Sherman was lost at times, but he did as well as could be expected. Patriots quarterback Mac Jones had no chance against the Bucs pass rush. Jones had a MAXIMUM of three seconds in the pocket every throw.
The Patriots gave LT Donovan Smith much of the night off. Smith was often seen with absolutely NO ONE to block.
Leonard Fournette was an absolute stud this game.
The Dolphins game this Sunday should be an absolute blowout. We're playing at home against a team Brady knows having played against his entire career at New England. Although the Dolphins get a new coaching staff almost as often as the Buccaneers, Brady is very familiar with Head Coach Brian Flores as he is of the Belichick coaching tree.
QB Jacoby Brissett is playing in Tua's absence and so far is winless since his debut Week 2 after Tua broke his ribs. That game was a shutout by the Bills.

The defense really secured this one for the team. Joe Tryon-Shoyinka got two sacks. Richard Sherman recovered a fumble punched out by Antoine Winfield, Jr. William Gholston and Shaquil Barrett also showed up. The Bucs allowed -1 yards net rushing by the Patriots. There was a high cost to this game, however, as the Buccaneers lost Carlton Davis III and Antoine Winfield, Jr. to injury. Winfield's return should be imminent, although probably not before Sunday's matchup against the Dolphins as he will not clear the concussion protocol before then. But Davis's return is in the lurch as more tests are administered Monday.
The Buccaneers offense was lackluster, with no less than six dropped passes by Buccaneers receivers. The running game really showed up this game, and carried the offense to the only touchdown scored by the team.
The refereeing was horrendous.

The refs were absolutely atrocious during the Rams game. There were several no-calls on personal foul penalties that would have given the Bucs favorable field position. Rob Gronkowski was targeted by Jalen Ramsey in the endzone on one such foul. Rams QB Matt Stafford played at an elite-level. He may be a force to be reckoned with with this monstrous Rams team around him. We will see them again in the playoffs. The Buccaneers signed Richard Sherman to a one-year deal. Sherman will bolster the secondary, bringing a veteran presence in the DB room that is desperately needed. Tom Brady returns to Gillette Stadium to face off against his former team. New England Head Coach Bill Belichick and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels know Brady well. The game should be a chess match. In the end, the Buccaneers will take this one.

Did the Rams just make a fatal mistake? Don't they know Tom Brady feeds off these types of losses come playoffs? We can safely say the Buccaneers brought their C-game, whereas the Rams brought their A-game. The Rams had this game circled on the calendar. There were celebrities in attendance: the cast of Ted Lasso, Halsey, Mike Tyson, Kate Hudson, Rob Lowe and the Kardashians. This game appeared to mean more to them than it did to the Buccaneers. You would think it was a Super Bowl game.
The Buccaneers showed up lackluster and without energy. The refs certainly didn't help the Bucs' case, but we don't think the results would have been different had they called a clean game.
We're not concerned though. Teams that peak this early rarely carry it through the season. And while we wanted to see an undefeated season, the reality is that was always a longshot. Recall if you will how the Bucs played at the beginning of last season and ask yourself if we are even close to that mediocre now. We will only get better.
This feeling is weird. It's been a long time since we've had a Monday like this. Consider that a blessing.

This is the toughest opponent we've faced so far, and we were conflicted on our score predictions. The Rams defense is tough, but the Colts put up a fight in week 2, only falling by 3 points in the end. The Buccaneers will face a former coach in Raheem Morris, who is now the Rams defensive coordinator. The offense has remained largely the same from last year, with the exception of Matt Stafford who was acquired in a trade with Detroit. The offense will prove to be a challenge for the Buccaneers defense, particularly with Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods at receiver.
The Dallas Cowboys film was surprising for several reasons. The secondary did not do as bad as they're being accused. Sean Murphy-Bunting was playing below-par prior to his injury. Jamel Dean did not play as bad as the mainstream narrative might tell you, but did lack umph. The miscues in the secondary were largely due to miscommunication. It appears Joe Tryon is cutting into Shaquil Barrett's snaps, not JPP's.
The referees were not as bad as originally thought. We'll give them a D+.

The game felt close briefly, but the Buccaneers clinched the game thanks to not one but two pick-sixes by Mike Edwards.
Tom Brady had five touchdowns and broke his own record of most games with 30+ points. TE Rob Gronkowski also had a record breaking day.
The refs were horrible, as usual. What was the taunting penalty against Edwards? They also gave the Falcons 3 points when they threw multiple flags before the half, which were all nonsense.
Regardless of any missteps, the Buccaneers won decisively.

The Atlanta Falcons' coaching change took an unusual approach this year by keeping the existing roster largely in-tact. The consistency might help veteran Defensive Coordinator Dean Pees, who coached the Ravens' Super Bowl-winning team. However, the secondary had significant turnover with three of the four starters leaving.
On offense, the Falcons are missing a huge piece in Julio Jones, who was traded to the Tennessee Titans. TE Kyle Pitts was the team's first draft pick and could be a replacement for Jones. The team drafted an offensive lineman to serve as left guard, but the rookie had a rough first game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Buccaneers have this game without a doubt but the Falcons certainly have potential for growth over this season.

Sunday was a glorious football Sunday. We got to watch our NFC South rivals in a week where the Bucs already had a victory under their belt.
The Carolina Panthers played the New York Jets. While Carolina won and had a decent showing, it's still to be determined whether that was because Carolina is okay or the Jets just suck. Our bets are on the latter.
The Philadelphia Eagles absolutely stomped the Atlanta Falcons. It appears the Falcons offensive and defensive lines are as weak as they have been for the last five years.
And of course the talk of the league is Jameis Winston's performance with the Saints. Jameis threw for five touchdowns and 146 yards. If that doesn't scream that something's amiss, I don't know what does. Time will tell whether Jameis is new-and-improved under Sean Payton's system, but our guess is the Green Bay Packers have given up on the season.

The Buccaneers squeaked out a victory against the Dallas Cowboys. We underestimated the Cowboys; their game plan was superb and well-executed. But the Buccaneers persevered thanks to Tom Brady, the receivers and the Bucs pass rush. Vita Vea made his presence known.
Sean Murphy-Bunting sustained a gruesome injury. Bruce Arians said it was just a dislocation and is optimistic SMB will be back.
Special teams may have been the highlight of the game. Punter Bradley Pinion pinned the Cowboys inside their 10-yardline three times. Then Jaydon Mickens had a phenomenal performance as returned.
The game was much closer than I anticipated but was an entertaining way to open the season.

This likely will be a very good showing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on primetime. Todd Bowles' defense is well-matched against the Dallas Cowboys' run-first offense. QB Dak Prescott likes to play conservative and mitigate risk.

The Buccaneers starting offense looked like a well-oiled machine during its performance against the Texans, with the exception of the first drive which ended in a three and out.
The team made cuts this week in order to get down to the 53-man roster by the deadline. Surprise cuts included TE Tanner Hudson, TE Codey McElroy, Dl Jeremiah Ledbetter, and CB Antonio Hamilton. Hudson was signed to the 49ers practice squad.
The practice squad is quickly filling up this week. We brought back Andrew Adams after he was snatched away by the Eagles this offseason. Other signings to the practice squad included WR Travis Jonsen, WR Cyril Grayson, TE Codey McElroy.
Jameis Winston gets named starter of the New Orleans Saints. Cam Newton gets cut by the Patriots.

Jameis Winston had Twitter in an uproar this weekend as he scored two touchdowns in typical Jameis fashion. Saints fans are clamoring for Jameis to become the starter, and we couldn't agree more.
Buccaneers Kicker Ryan Succop was diagnosed with Covid this weekend, which Bruce Arians linked to a dinner he had with former teammates from the Titans. Arians has announced the team, whether vaccinated or not, will not be going out when the team travels to Houston this weekend.
Several Buffalo Bills players are being subjected to five-day re-entry rules after an infected but vaccinated staff member had contact with the players. The Cowboys are also having an outbreak the same week Jerry Jones went on Sirius emphasizing the importance of the vaccines.

The game didn't go haywire for the Buccaneers until the odd Tanner Hudson fumble for a touchdown. Prior to that, while it wasn't great, the guys competing for jobs showed some promise.
The Buccaneers saw all they needed to see from OLB Quinton Bell, WR TJ Simmons, S Nate Brooks and S Lawrence White. The players were released Sunday, which brought the team to the 80-man roster limit. RB Troymaine Pope was waived with an injury designation.
Titans HC Mike Vrabel announced Sunday he tested positive for Covid. Vrabel was spotted next to Tom Brady on the sideline and in Bruce Arians' golf cart. Bruce Arians said today in a press conference there was no cause for concern for the Buccaneers.

Yesterday's practice with the Titans got lively as four skirmishes broke out, including one where Antonio Brown clocked a Titans defensive back.
The starters will not play Saturday, leaving plenty of snaps for guys fighting for jobs. TE Tanner Hudson needs to make a splash, but it's not even clear he'll play with his wrist injury. OLB Cam Gill is another player whose tenure may be cut short due to injury.
Based on how both teams played last week, we expect a physical game.

The Buccaneers faced the Tennessee Titans at camp today. Bruce Arians said the team offensively had a good day, although Bucs media is in a tizzy about the number of drops. Reporter Paul Kuharsky, who covers the Titan for Outkick, noted the Buccaneers offense is much faster than Tennessee’s. Bucs who did not practice today include: OLB Cam Gill, S Jordan Whitehead, S Raven Greene, TE Tanner Hudson, RB Troymaine Pope, WR Travis Jonsen. TE OJ Howard and OL Robert Hainsey returned to practice today. Bruce Arians said it’s iffy if Hainsey will play Saturday.
S Raven Greene was waived by the Buccaneers today. The team claimed T Brandon Walton off waivers, who was released by the Steelers.
The Saints have signed G Caleb Benenoch, a former Buccaneer.
The FBI has now joined in the investigation into sexual assault allegations alleged against Texans QB Deshaun Watson.

THAT was an entertaining preseason game. Backups on the defense showed a lot of promise. Nate Brooks, Antonio Hamilton and Joe Jones impressed. That list is not exhaustive, either. On the offense, Jaelon Darden made splashes reminiscent of Tyreek Hill. Giovanni Bernard also made plays against his former team.
In other news, the Buccaneers made three cuts ahead of Tuesday's deadline to reduce the roster to 85. WR Cameron Kinley, TE De'Quan Hampton and WR Josh Pearson were the first casualties.
Devin White received his diploma from LSU last week.
The NFL has begun to release its top 100 list. As of recording, Tristan Wirfs, Shaq Barrett, Chris Godwin and JPP made the list.

Bucs nation lost a good one this week. Mark Cook, of Pewter Report fame, passed away. He was a stalwart in the Bucs community and will be missed.
The Cincinnati Bengals come to Tampa this Saturday. QB Joe Burrow will be sidelined this game, and it's undetermined whether he will play at all this preseason. Burrow has healed from his knee injury, sustained last December, but mentally is not ready to stand in the pocket. The team will also sit several other veterans. This is after the team lost studs AJ Green and Geno Adkins in the offseason. We do not expect to the Bengals' best this Saturday, but rather their inexperienced and those fighting to prove something.
The Buccaneers, on the other hand, will start all of their first string for at least a couple drives. Tom Brady says he would play the entire game if Coach would allow it. We look forward to seeing our training camp warriors in a game at full speed. The state of our special teams may be a pleasant surprise. The Buccaneers paid particular attention to the unit in the offseason. We will also see if Tanner Hudson heeded Bruce Arians' warning this week.
In other NFL news, the Saints will require attendees either provide proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test administered within 72 of game day. QB Dak Prescott is undergoing an MRI, but the team swears it's not serious. (Sure, Jan.)

The heat is wearing on players who didn't train in Tampa, as Bruce Arians reports the last 30 minutes of the first days of camp left something to be desired. The Buccaneers made roster moves, including adding TE Cameron Brate as physically unable to perform.
The NFL released its coronavirus protocols for the season. The measures appear less about preventing the spread and more about punishing players who opt out of the vaccine.

The Buccaneers have made some major moves since our free agency analysis last week. Tom Brady signed an extension, Shaq Barrett and Gronk are coming back, and Jason Licht and Mike Greenberg are magicians.
The NFC South, on the other hand, is a mess. Drew Brees retires from football, leaving the quarterback position in New Orleans wide open for competition between Taysom Hill and Jameis Winston. There's a steep drop-off at wide receiver after Slant Boy Michael Thomas, and the tight end room lost one of Drew Brees' favorite weapons last year, Jared Cook. The defense in New Orleans will require a lot of attention, but there's not a whole lot of cap space to pay for any of it.
The Carolina Panthers have plenty of money to spend, but a lot of holes to fill. Notably, the offensive line is in shambles. The team attempted to shop Teddy Bridgewater to Detroit when Matthew Stafford was on the table. It doesn't bode well for his future with the team. The team could upgrade at multiple positions on defense, including linebacker and the secondary.
The Atlanta Falcons pushed Matt Ryan's cap hit off another year, when he'll count $42M against the cap. The team likewise needs to rebuild its offensive line and running back room. Newly hired Arthur Smith does not have much cap room to build the team to his liking as most new coaches are wont to do.

Bold take: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers that beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 55 is the best football team to ever play the game. Ever. If you can think of a better team, send us a message.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers DOMINATED the Kansas City Chiefs in every respect. By the end of the game, the Chiefs players were demoralized and frustrated. The efforts in the mainstream to diminish the Bucs total domination is an affront to the sport itself and it amazes us that no one is talking about how elite the Buccaneers are. After the Saints game, we said the Saints did not bring their A game. After we beat the Packers, we said the same thing. We would have said the same thing after the Chiefs game, except what are the chances that can be true three games in a row? The fact is, the Buccaneers defense shut down three Super Bowl MVP QBs three games in a row. There is something to be said for that and it's a travesty that no one is pointing it out.
There was not a team in the league that could have stopped this team, and it's only going to be better next year.

The Kansas City Chiefs gimmicky offense will be no match for the Buccaneers defense. Vita Vea alone would have been a difference maker, but we've also got JPP and Shaq, Suh helping up the middle, Devin White and Lavonte at linebacker, and a playmaking secondary. Jamel Dean was absent from the Buccaneers first matchup against the Chiefs, and he was the only one who could have matched Tyreek Hill's freak speed. The Buccaneers offense line was also hobbled that game. The Chiefs have not been blowing out teams as they were last season, or even the beginning of this season. The Buccaneers, in our opinion, have the edge in every respect and this game will be a double digit victory for the home team.

That echo is back! Ack. We'll be working on that this week. This game was fascinating. It was evident that the Green Bay Packers did not bring their A game, and questionable decisions from the players and coaches contributed to their downfall. The Buccaneers defensive line was no match for their offensive line. The depth the Buccaneers has been great at all positions this postseason. When injuries have occurred to our elite players, their backups have subbed in without a hitch. This game was no different, with Aaron Stinnie, Mike Edwards and Steve McLendon all showing up on the game film. Brady once again played phenomenal, but the offensive standout was Chris Godwin. The Buccaneers coaches upped their game this postseason, creating dynamic game plans which differ from the regular seasons plays.

WE'RE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL.
It still feels surreal. The Packers put up a good fight - which you expect with Aaron Rodgers at the helm - but the Buccaneers managed to overcome. The defense again showed up in a spectacular way. Sean Murphy-Bunting's interception was record-tying for most interceptions in the post-season, and we hope he can shatter that record in two weeks against the Kansas City Chiefs on the big stage. Jordan Whitehead's forced fumble set Devin White up to make a play, and Devin took the opportunity and ran with it (literally). Shaq Barrett and JPP together sacked Aaron Rodgers five times, in a season where the team has only allowed 25 altogether. And we can't talk about the defense without mentioning Vita Vea. While Vita didn't show up on the stat sheet, his impact was felt and will certainly appear on the game film.
The offense made some great plays, with the bomb to Chris Godwin to convert on third down and set up Playoff Lenny to punch it in the end zone immediately after. All of the receivers made clutch catches. The team should focus on mitigating drops against Kansas City, but frankly it hasn't hurt us so far throughout the playoffs. Tom threw three interceptions, two of which went off the receivers hands and should not count against him, but the defense stepped up and kept the damage to a minimum, allowing just one touchdown and forcing two punts.
The playcalling of the Green Bay Packers was headscratching at times, and Aaron Rodgers sounded despondent and like his future was uncertain in his postgame press conference.

The New Orleans game was nothing short of amazing. The defense was the difference in the game on the Bucs side. But Ralph is on the fence as to whether the Buccaneers beat the Saints, or the Saints lost this game. Drew Brees was not himself, and the Buccaneers were able to capitalize. The offensive line was playing mean, with Jensen seeking out LB Alex Anzalone throughout the game.
The Packers game will be the game to watch this weekend. With the reemergence of Vita Vea, the Buccaneers have a good chance at upsetting the Packers in Lambeau. The defense has to have an answer for RPOs, which the Packers have favored as of late (a difference from the Week 6 team that got curbstomped). The Bucs couldn't stop RPOs against the Chiefs. However, the Packers rely on their run game, a weapon which does not stand a chance against the Buccaneers defense, especially with Vita back. The Buccaneers offense will continue to protect Brady this game and thrive in the run game.

The Washington Football, to its credit, played well overall. The offensive line all but neutralized our pass rush. Tom Brady played a phenomenal game, and had Chris Godwin not dropped five passes, the game might night have been as close as it was. To beat the Saints this weekend, the Bucs have to minimize turnovers. The team is not the same team that faced the Saints in Week 9, so we believe this matchup will be more of a shootout (as long as the refs don't help them as they did during the season).

The offensive line down right manhandled the Washington defensive line, despite allowing three sacks. Chase Young learned a valuable lesson this week about shit talk. LB Kevin Minter played well in Devin White's absence. Devin White was activated from the Covid list this week, while Minter heads onto the list. The game, while overall a win for the Buccaneers, did come at a cost: the Bucs lost RG Alex Cappa to an ankle fracture. Cappa is done for the remainder of the year, with Aaron Stinnie set to take his place. The Buccaneers will face a tough opponent this week that they know well - the New Orleans Saints.

The offensive line played nasty against the Atlanta Falcons last week, which makes us optimistic for this weekend's matchup against Washington's defensive line. While their defense is ranked high among NFL defenses, the stats are deceptive as they've played the bottom of the league this season, beating only one winning team.

The Buccaneers score 40+ points in back-to-back games for the first time since 2007, culminating in an 11-5 season and playoff berth. The Atlanta Falcons didn't stand a chance even after the Buccaneers lost Mike Evans, with Antonio Brown and Chris Godwin both racking up 130+ yards and two touchdowns a piece. The defense allowed 27 points, but overall had a solid performance. Sean Murphy-Bunting in particular had a great game.
We're in Washington Football Team country, although we haven't seen a jersey in public in at least five years. If they're anything like WFT fans on Twitter, they'll be out in-force until about 9:00 p.m. Saturday when they sneak off to the sports bar bathroom to change their jerseys. The 'rona has hit One Buc Place as Devin White tests positive and Shaq Barrett and Steve McLendon are identified as close contacts. Shaq Barrett has reportedly tested negative but will have to be away from the team for five days per league rules. Social media posts by both Shaq Barrett's wife and Devin White indicate both expect to be back in time for wildcard weekend.
The Detroit Lions film analysis was entertaining to say the least. The Lions, while not necessarily a bad team, did not take losing well and got in their share of cheap shots as the game got away from them. Lavonte David appears to have gotten his mojo back, while JPP once again played a phenomenal game.
Looking forward to Sunday - the Falcons will play their last game as a team as many of their studs, including Matt Ryan, possibly Julio Jones, Alex Mack, as well as their coaching staff, will likely be gone next year. Raheem Morris hopes to return, interviewing for the head coaching gig Friday.

With our curbstomping victory over the Detroit Lions, THE BUCCANEERS HAVE SECURED A PLAYOFF BERTH FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2007. The Buccaneers benefitted from the early injury to Lions quarterback Matt Stafford, but the victory was all but assured the way the Buccaneers offense was playing. They got off to a fast start, scoring a touchdown on their first two possessions. Mike Evans came in arms reach of his seventh 1,000-yard season. The Buccaneers defense held the Lions to no offensive touchdown, the only score coming on special teams with a punt return by Agnew.

The defensive line is holding it down again for the defense, while the linebackers are a concern. In particular, Lavonte David is not playing like himself, which is of great concern on a personal level for us. The receivers had five dropped passes, but Tom Brady is playing lights-out regardless. We talk JPP going to the Pro Bowl while the rest of the team gets snubbed. The Detroit Lions are coming up Saturday. The team has struggled with its coaching staff, first with the mid-season departure of Head Coach Matt Patricia and now with a large portion of the coaching staff being placed on the Covid list. The Lions will make do on Saturday with coaches on the staff taking over playcalling duties. The affected coaches are still participating in meetings with the team via Zoom. The Lions defense is like swiss cheese, although they did have some good plays against the Tennessee Titans in Week 15. Matt Stafford is a huge threat, with an arm capable of long bombs. Their run game is average, led by D'Andre Swift, who reminds Molly of Peyton Barber. In the end, we think the Bucs will have it and will secure a playoff berth with their victory.

The defensive line held it down for the Buccaneers defense, clocking up a total of six sacks (although it should have been more) and 12 quarterback hits. Antoine Winfield Jr. topped the leaderboard with 12 tackles. The Vikings dominated time of possession, having the ball for almost 40 minutes to the Buccaneers 20. Despite the disparity, the Buccaneers matched the Vikings in yardage and dominated the score. Dan Bailey deserves a game ball from the Buccaneers for his three missed field goals and one missed extra point.

One of our favorite long-time Buccaneers had a god awful game against the Chiefs. Lavonte David looked out of sorts, and frankly we're a little concerned. The defensive line, however, held it down for the rest of the defense, and was largely responsible for our holding Pat Mahomes and the Chiefs to just seven points in the second half. The defensive line and Todd Bowles adjustments, that is. Tom Brady had a great game aside from his two interceptions. The team is incorporating more of the plays Tom likes. The announcers were awful in their analysis of the Buccaneers during the game.
The Buccaneers return from their long-needed bye week to face the Minnesota Vikings at home. While they've won five of their last six, the Vikings have beat only one winning team all season - division foe Green Bay Packers. In fact, their one loss in the last six games came against the abysmal Dallas Cowboys. Jaguars quarterback (and former Buccaneer) Mike Glennon made the Vikings defense look like a wet paper bag in the first quarter. The 1-11 Jags nearly beat the Vikings, and the game went into overtime. While Buccaneers fans suffer PTSD from games we lost that we should have won, this one will not get away from the Bucs - Molly is confident of that.

In an unsurprising outcome, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fell to the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. The Buccaneers were inconsistent at times, but rallied to within three points. The defense's inability to get a stop at the end of the game allowed the Chiefs to run out the clock. However, the defense had done its part earlier in the game to give the offense opportunities that it just couldn't capitalize on. The loss was unsurprising and we were just thankful the score wasn't more lopsided. The Buccaneers need the upcoming bye week to rest and focus on righting the ship. It should be relatively smooth sailing from here on out.

Despite a very close loss to the Los Angeles Rams, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are still in serious playoff contention. The fundamentals were again an issue, with missed tackles and dropped passes galore. The game film analysis largely revolved around Donovan Smith - both good and bad. Tom Brady played nearly flawlessly, as did Ronald Jones. We initially were concerned about the upcoming primetime game against the Rams, having seen them dominate the Seattle Seahawks. The Buccaneers pulled off another impressive victory this week, putting us on a clear path to the playoffs. Ronald Jones' 98-yard TD run in the third quarter was a franchise record. The play set the tone for the rest of the game, starting the team's turnaround after finishing the half tied 17-17. The defense started slow but playmakers like JPP helped hold the Panthers to 23 points. Looking forward, we have a challenging matchup against the Las Angeles Rams, which will require our defense to shore up fundamentals like tackling and communication. For its part, the Buccaneers offense will have to stave off a physical Rams defense.

There are some games where everything just goes wrong. The Bucs Week 9 game against the Saints was one of those games. It seemed as though everyone on the team was just off. The game film was interesting to say the least. In our Week 10 game against the Panthers, we definitely need to clean it up in order to be successful. It could be a make-or-break game this season. We're optimistic in any case, believing we'll put a hurtin' on the kitties.

The Saints game was not what we expected. The schellacking on national television added extra misery to a humiliating defeat. The Saints outdid us on time of possession by a whopping 10 minutes, and put up 31 of their 38 points prior to halftime. While this was not what we anticipated, there are reasons to believe this isn't the end of our season.

The Giants all-22 was - unremarkable. The Buccaneers were undoubtedly the better team, but seemed like they held back against the Giants. The offensive line played well, and aside from some inaccuracy, Tom Brady played outstanding. But maybe they were holding back in order to save their energy for the Week 9 matchup against the Saints. The game has huge playoff implications as victory would put us up a game and a half in the division standings. We'd also even the score in the head-to-head tiebreaker. Michael Thomas will be returning from injury. The Bucs will have their own addition to the receiving corps as Antonio Brown makes his debut.

Our main takeaways from the game: The defensive line is really feeling Vita Vea's absence. Tom Brady looked inaccurate, but otherwise played a solid game. The refs gave us at least three calls that should not have gone our way. The calls sustained drives that otherwise would have stalled, and the non-call that ended the game. Shaq Barrett forces two inceptions and the secondary feasted. We underestimated the Giants' offensive line and defense in our predictions.

We're in shock and awe after this week's 25-point win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Devin White quiet had a phenomenal game, racking up three sacks on Derek Carr (the only sacks we got all game). The Buccaneers offense was methodical and effective. Leonard Fournette returned this week and made his presence felt. Scotty Miller caught an absolute bomb for a touchdown. If anyone had any doubt, it's gone now: The Buccaneers is one of the best teams in the league.

Please excuse our mess, first of all, but we couldn't end today without a victory podcast! It was an absolute trouncing of the Green Bay Packers. The defense won us this game. The tide shifted with Jamel Dean's pick six, with Suh's trash talk, Devin White's dominance, another interception by Mike Edwards and five sacks. The Packers have given up only three all season. Aaron Rodgers has only thrown two other pick-sixes in his career - one by the Buccaneers' Tanard Jackson. Ronald Jones clocked his third 100-yard game of the season, thanks in large part to the offensive line. Overall, it was an excellent showing by the Buccaneers.

There were some ugly takeaways from Thursday night's loss to the Bears (the refs, mostly), but we saw some bright spots. Ronald Jones had his second game with over 100 yards rushing, more than making up for a banged up running back room. WR Tyler Johnson showed promise with his finesse style, topping the charts in receiving yards for the Bucs. K Ryan Succop hit all of his attempts Thursday. While that may not seem impressive, for Bucs fans a consistent kicker is a breath of fresh air. The Bears were able to exploit the Buccaneers defense by throwing short to the edges. Despite the loss, it was a close game. On to the next.

The week 3 victory against the Denver Broncos was rife with material for Ralph's analysis. Donovan Smith played exceptionally well this week. Shaq Barrett continues to drop back in coverage. Antoine Winfield proves himself a steel in the second round. The refs didn't screw up... so there's that. In general, we played a bad team that we should have beaten. The Chargers will be more of a challenge. Their offense under Justin Herbert can be explosive, particularly with the help of Austin Ekeler and Keenan Allen. Nevertheless, the team is vulnerable to mishaps as it showed during the Week 3 loss to the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers capitalized on three ugly fumbles, allowing them to run the score up early. The Chargers pass rush, however, proved difficult for the Chiefs, who overcame their division rival in overtime. The Chargers have been plagued by injuries.

Ralph reviewed the film and it was... interesting. The refs completely ignored holding calls, which the Saints committed on a whopping 19 occasions. Donovan Smith reverted back to old habits, which is not to say he played terribly, but there was some sloppiness he'll need to clean up before tomorrow's matchup. There was an unfortunate series of events where luck did not go the Bucs' way. Tom Brady made his presence felt in the offense, hitting deep throws with precision and commanding the pocket. Buccaneers media ignore major issues with the officiating last weekend, instead focusing on politics, Chris Godwin's status (at least Buccaneer-related), Tom Brady and BA drama, and the number of bathrooms in Derek Jeter's house. The Buccaneers will see a much different Carolina team tomorrow, at 10 starters have changed from last year. WR Robby Anderson had a big day last week; will he have a similar performance tomorrow? Special teams is of grave concern for the Buccaneers, as field position really hurt them last week. Pharoh Cooper of the Carolina Panthers proved himself apt at returns. Will he give the Bucs a fit?

This was an ugly start to the season. Between penalties, bad decision-making, and plain ugly football, the Bucs season opener was underwhelming and downright disappointing. Another victory for the Buccaneers! The offense got off to a hot start after Jameis Winston’s initial interception, and the Buccaneers defense stuffed the Lions for much of the first quarter. Detroit staged a near-comeback in the second half, triggering the PTSD of Bucs fans worldwide. But this is the new Bucs, and we don’t lost those games. A Sean Murphy-Bunting pick six was the final nail in the coffin. The Buccaneers defense, however, never took their foot off the throttle, with Lavonte David forcing a fumble the very next Lions offensive possession that was picked up by Devin White. Jameis Winston answered the debate of whether Mike Evans makes him look like a great passer – after losing Mike Evans, then Scotty Miller and Chris Godwin, Jameis still managed to have a record-shattering game. Hitting 11 different receivers all game, Jameis became the first player in NFL history to have two consecutive 450+ games. And he did it with a broken thumb and without his two stud receivers. The culture change has finally turned the tides. The Buccaneers proved with this win that they care about one thing in the last remaining weeks of a championship-less season: victory. The feeling has spread to the fan base and energy surrounding the team is high. Ralph assessed Jameis’ interceptions: they were all clearly on the shoulders of the quarterback. Buccaneers claim victory in a roller coaster ride to which Bucs fans have become accustomed. Jameis Winston started off the game with an interception, followed in the next drive by an Ogunbowale fumble. But that didn’t keep the offense down. Neither did the pick six late in the second quarter. Or the loss of Mike Evans. The boys persevered, putting up 38 points. The defense helped, and although they only clocked one sack on the stat sheet (shared by Shaq Barrett and William Gholston), they put heavy pressure on Brissett all day. Devin White shows why he was a top-5 draft pick with a forced fumble, which was recovered by Mike Edwards. Winston sat out a series with a fracture in his hand, allowing Ryan Griffin to get his first regular season snaps. Winston powered through the injury for the remainder of the game.

Jason Pierre-Paul was the standout in this game, making his presence felt all game. The interior defensive line had a relatively quiet showing. The secondary played outstanding for the second week in a row. Rojo missed the blitz that caused Winston to fumble. The Falcons’ season has been a tale of two teams: a 1-7 disaster before the bye week, and a division-stomping monster post-bye week. While a loss, the game against Seattle was a competitive one. Our offense was competent, made few costly mistakes, and were able to put points on the board when we needed it. The Seahawks’ offense was efficient and proficient, picking on rookie Jamel Dean. Dean took Carlton Davis’ spot after an injury during warm-ups sidelined Davis. This loss was disappointing but ultimately came down to which team possessed the ball last. The teams met in overtime, and Seattle received the first kick and was able to drive down the field and score a touchdown.

There was a lot to see in the coaches film in the Bucs’ loss to the Titans. Unlike prior weeks, the film showed a different picture than the initial broadcast. Jameis Winston continues to make the same mistakes he’s made his entire career, and it’s costing us games. We will never advocate for a player getting cut, and he remains the best quarterback we’ve ever had, but his inability to see the field and his tendency to get happy feet need to be addressed. The linebackers continue to give up big yardage when covering tight ends. The Seahawks are a beatable opponent, one whose number Bruce Arians has had in years past. Can he lead the team to victory once again? Is he the same coach he once was? Crowd noise will be a problem as the 12th man impacts the game.

In perhaps the most inconsistent game of the season, we saw the best of the Buccaneers and worst of the Buccaneers all in one game. Throwing two picks and fumbling the ball three times, Jameis Winston also managed to have several efficient, clean drives, driving down the offense the field and scoring in the last two minutes of the first half. Mike Evans totaled nearly 200 yards and two touchdowns. However, the offense was unable to clench the game in the final minute. The defense was equally inconsistent, managing to hold the Titans offense to just 246 yards but also giving up a 90 yard drive for a touchdown. The refs blow the whistle on a Devin White fumble recovery, which would have meant a Buccaneers score. JPP returns and makes his presence felt early.

Saints win in a disappointing performance by the Buccaneers. The better team won, plain and simple. Ralph’s conjecture that the game would boil down to the pass rush rang true, as the Buccaneers pass rush was non-existent and the Saints’ was disruptive. Did Jameis get happy feet? We debate. We faced a different type of back in Alvin Kamara, who proved more elusive than backs we’ve faced in games past, but still only totaled 62 yards. In this prepreseason update, we are nearly giddy with the start of OTA’s tomorrow. We contemplate Bruce Arians’ emphasis on special teams in the offseason, and his motivation for turning the music off during practices this season (is he sending a message to Donovan Smith?). Arians’ poker face may be better than we thought – PR reports Arians and Jason Licht talked up DeSean Jackson during the combine only as a way to boost his trade value and Jackson was never going to stay with the team. We recount examples of the Bucs’ losing culture and ponder whether the ping pong table may be the sacrificial lamb necessary to overcome it. In an interesting follow up, Ralph tracked down former first round pick Trent Richardson – Where is he now? Coming as a shock to no one, Brent Grimes remains unsigned as a 35-year-old free agent. In a correction from an earlier episode, Ralph delves back into Lavonte David’s pro bowl history. And, as if the Bucs weren’t already the Cardinals 2.0, Ralph relishes Cardinals color commentator Ron Wolfley.
