John Lovering founded True Tales Live in 2014 and acted as our executive producer for 9 years. John helped the show to thrive as it transitioned from radio to TV to Zoom. He edited audio and video, registered storytellers, made programs, established our online presence, created promotional materials and so much more. He also told some great stories!John died on May 10, 2025. This TTL John Lovering Tribute show on Zoom was to remember and honor him. Each year True Tales Live has the on month set aside for the theme: Activism/Exercising Your Rights. It has been a consistently popular theme and this Zoom edition was no exception. Our three storytellers (in order of appearance) were Jezrie Marcano-Courtney ("The Blasphemer" ) Vicki Juditz ("Longing for Jail Time") and in a rerun recorded at PPMTV Studio on May 28, 2019, Arnie Alpert ("Bending Toward Justice"). After the storytelling there is a brief Q+A session from the Chat List on Zoom and then our announcer, Amy Antonucci, hosts a discussion with Arnie Alpert and Cathy Wolff...all three of these folks have been very involved in "Activism" and they talk a bit about that, but also pay tribute to a NH Legislature Renny Cushing, who had just passed away about 2 weeks before this show. Renny was an activist for many things, but was connected with our program by being one of several people who helped rid New Hampshire of the Death Penalty on May 30, 2019... two days after Arnie Alpert presented his story "Bending Toward Justice". This discussion between Amy, Cathy, and Arnie also included a few words from Storyteller, Activist, Andy Davis who happened to be in the viewing audience. COVID-19 Took us off Portsmouth Public Media TV in March of 2020. We were unable to have a studio audience. After long consideration and some practice, the crew of True Tales Live decided to go with a Zoom broadcast. Our first show was Sept. 29, 2020. Amy Antonucci was the Zoom Host and Announcer, Pat Spalding was our Emcee, David Phreaner our Interviewer with additional help from Kemetia Foley, Sam Adams, and Sarah Bedingfield. This was an especially interesting discussion as it centered around Arnie's activism in getting an override of the NH Governor's veto of a bill that would stop the Death Penalty in New Hampshire. Two days after this interview, the legislature overrode the veto and NH is now the 21st State to stop the Death Penalty! Congratulations to Arnie and all those who worked so long and hard to get this override vote... and thanks to the legislatures who voted to override the veto.

As part of the Seacoast NH Area Libraries January Storyteller Series... a troupe of 6 storytellers (Pat Spalding, David Phreaner, John Lovering, Carol Waleryszak, Seth Waleryszak,and Nancy Brown) presented an evening of "True Tales Live" at the Rye Public Library on January 19, 2017. This is a recording of the 6 stories shared to a full house audience. We thank the Rye Library for hosting such a fun evening of storytelling.
As we end our run at Portsmouth Community Radio, Jon Nash does his final interview for True Tales Radio (True Tales Live on PPMtv) ... Interestingly enough, David Phreaner joined our True Tales Live team as one of the interviewers (along with Pat Spalding) that will continue the segment on Portsmouth Public Media Television. Sharon Rhodes was our very first guest on True Tales Radio back in January of 2014 and on the evening of August 30, 2016 she was our final guest on True Tales Radio as we migrated to cable TV. Thanks to Jon and all the interviewees for some interesting and informative interviews in 2016.

Here is a recording of a two hour performance to a sold-out audience at the West End Studio Theatre in Portsmouth, NH as part of the Act One Fall Festival. Executive Director of Act One is Stephanie Voss Nugent. This was one of two performances in 2016, the other being on October 16th, but was not recorded. Storytellers performing in this live theater production were: Glenn Bergeron, Mark Michael Adams, David Phreaner, Elizabeth Wolff, Pat Spalding, and Sharon Jones.
There are some very poignant stories being shared in this performance. Listen and you will not be disappointed. Note the enthusiastic response of the audience of about 75 people in this small, but very popular local theater. Storytelling is by all accounts a very popular activity... and that is a good thing.

ACTONE Fall Festival with Executive Director Stephanie Voss Nugent, invited us to put on a Sunday afternoon storytelling performance at the West End StudioTheatre in Portsmouth, NH on Oct. 18, 2015.
