The Beast Mode Kids Podcast was created to bring parents and children together. My name is Patrick Davy and my co-host is my daughter, Alora Davy. Together, we will be discussing topics like going to a new school, bullying, how to make good food choices, and basically growing up. We will also be talking about the day to day issues that occur between parents and children. We will discuss ways to improve our communication by reviewing our experiences together. I hope to start closing the gap between parents and their children...and it all begins with talking.
Pat and Bo want to thank all the listeners we have but it is our time to to shut this down. I have had a blast doing this with my kids but I always knew there was an end to this and we have reached the pinnacle today.

Pat and Bo talk about how Bo helped Pat with at door project this weekend and was able to use power tools. Bo likes the power tools, exspecially the drill when he is helping his dad.
Bo also talks about the Game Snipper Clips. He is saving his money to buy this game and is looking forward to sharing it and playing it with his friends.

Pat and Bo had a great Easter weekend. We went to a bogus easter egg hunt. Bo and Alora got to hunt eggs at home easter morning. Got baskets of goodies from the easter bunny. Then Pat and Bo went to the Super Mario Bros movie.
Some weekends are for work. Some weekends are for play.
This was a good weekend for play!

Pat and Bo are back after a slight vacation from the podcast to talk about the last couple of weeks. We were in Wisconsin Dells going down water slides and relaxing while Bo was trying some new slides that he is now able to go down becasue he is now tall enough.
Also it was April 1 yesterday and we tried some pranks around the house and 2 out of 3 of them worked.

Pat was alone today becasue Bo was under the weather and wanted to take the week off. Thats ok. Let him rest to be ready for all the later fun.
Pat is training for a Half - Marathon right now and had to run 10 miles today. It was the worst 10 miles of his life and it only got worse from there.

Pat and Bo learned that they got an upgrade in Mario Cart and got a couple new, sweet courses to play this past weekend. Gaming is fun, Bo loves it, Mom loves it, Alora does it, and Pat wants to play more.
Bo also talks about his desire to be a part of show choir and singing and dancing and I really hope that if that is what he wants to do that he's all in and is willing to do the work when its time.

Thank you for dealing with our auido issues that we had last week. I promise it is much better today.
Pat and Bo talk about the Karen they saw at our local grocery story yesterday and how others dealt with her also.
Then we talk about stopping at Game Stop to get some Robucks for one of Bo's games because he had money burning a hole in his pocket.

First off I need to apologize for the technical difficulties that you will hear around the 10min mark. The volume is not very good and we just had to push through.
Sooooo, today Pat and Bo talked about the science experiment of the making. SNOWCADO. We took the old fashiond baking soda and vinigar and added a little twist to it. We had a blast in the snow.
Then Bo was dying to talk about his iPad games which makes me want to punch myself in the face but he was happy so the content in this one is only half good.

Pat and Bo talk about the events that took place in the Davy household over the weekend because it was exhausting and new.
First off Pat colored Bo's hair. If you would like to see it you can see it on his FB or Instagram. Bo loves it. Mom is indifferent, and Dad colored it so he's happy to.
Bo also had two birthdays to go to on Saturday that overlapped each other and Pat had to manage getting Bo around to each of them on a timely manner.
Weekends go by to fast and you need to enjoy them.

Pat and Bo talk about a new device that Pat bought for himself and the kids. That is a stress ball. We all have stress, all at different levels, and one of Bo's ticks is biting his nails. Pat thought that a stress ball would help because a lot of the time that Bo is biting his nails is when he is bored. Or not in front of a screen.
We also talk about the things that Bo does at school when he is bored. It is not that often that he says because his teacher does a good job keeping him busy but he has some go-to activities that helps him stay busy when he is bored.

Pat and Bo talk about how Bo was complaining about going to his sisters show choir event an hour away early in the morning. He was trying so hard and pleading his case about letting him stay home by himself and Mom and Dad just had to laugh at him.
We get it. He sees his sister do it so he wants to also.

Pat and Bo did some sledding today and had a blast. The only thing is that Pat figured out that sledding is a young mans game. That is why tubes are coming soon to the Davy household very soon.
We also had a great New Years with some friends, cross dressing with our significant others and having the kids dress like one of their parents.

One of his favorite things was his new LOGO set. It is a technic so it means there is more self movement and flexible pieces that will hopefully be more durable for Bo while he plays with it and his other pull-backs.

Pat and Bo get though todays podcast without Bo coughing or throwing up, and only a couple extra sniffles. Bo had a temperature of 103.3 on Friday and its been a rough weekend of laying around, eating snacks, and napping for him. But some how he managed to make it through.
We did dig into some school stuff that Bo wanted to talk about because taking tests on a iPad is way more fun than coloring in circle after circle after circle. Math and Reading tests. I remember the day when life was so simple and at times I wish to have them back. And then I remember that I hated school and then I'm ok with not.

Pat and Bo talk about his iPad time that he gets per day and the more that I think about it it sounds way to long. Which turned into out next topic about imagination. I feel that we do allow Bo to much time on the iPad which is creeping into his imagination and making it harder for him to actually use it.
Parenting is hard and I wish that the parent handbook was available for us all to use but there will never be one and so we are all alone learning from each other.

Yesterday the kiddos went to Stoney Creek again for their first halloween party of the year. I say first because there are more to come. We found a cowboy costume for Bo and he was warm and comfortable and it was free. So much better.
We also talk about when you ask the question "who do you love more" is an unfair question to ask a child or parent.

Pat and Bo talk about going to a festival and going into the kids zone. Why do all kids like bouncy houses and face paint? Why must kids jump up and down and let paint drip down their faces when they are sweating and having fun.

Kids get the best things. And as an adult I like playing with his toys too. And bouncy houses. Kids can keep the face paint though.

Pat and Bo talk about Bo's first couple days of 2nd grade and I tell you what, I miss that fun. Scavenger hunts, coloring, reading, math ( 1+2 ). I mean who doesn't.
I hate it when someone says, " if I could only go back in time with the knowledge that I had now. " Thats someone who can't stop thinking about their past.
I love the fact that I can live vicariously though Bo and see all the dumb mistakes that he makes and then giggle. Cause I'm a good dad and that's what you should do.

Todays was a sad day for Pat because the Beast Mode Kids podcast lost a amazing person. Alora has chosen to step away from the podcast because her life is getting busier and we knew that things were going to be getting tough for us very soon.
Thank you Alora for the last 3 years on our podcast. I can only hope that you have learned a thing or two while doing it. These are memories, as a father, that I will never forget.

Pat and Alora have a great time today and we discuss what is more scary; the internet or people in person. They both have their issues and we are all a little leary of the internet but we should also be aware of people in person because people are wildcards and do some weird stuff sometimes. That is why we go into public places and people watch.
I also play a game with Alora called "Fancer" ( Fast Answer) and we learn if she like cottage cheese or sauerkraut better. Hint: she hates them both.

Pat and Alora are all over the place today because that is how we roll from time to time but we start out talking about the yearly camping trip she went on with friend and all the fun she had with bubbles, sleeping in the back of a van (down by the river), and playing the quarter machines.
Pat is not much of a gambler but he knows many people that are and to them he says, "you do you.

Pat and Alora go down a could rabbit holes today because Pat had some things to say today. Alora had never heard the term foot in mouth disease before and Pat had it last night with some friends.
We also talk about how we live in a world of acceptance yet we can still make fun of people for their likes or beliefs and it's ok.
There is a balancing act with it because judging people is what we do, its human nature, mostly because of our own personal short comings. We make fun of people to make ourselves feel bette about ourselves. Yet we have to accept people for being who they want to be.
It all sounds weird and confusing but it was a great conversation.

Pat and Bo talk about Bo going through another group of sessions of swimming lessons. He has improved a lot from last year and he is defiantly more brave.
The big bravery that Bo did was jumping off the diving board. That is always scary when you do it for the first time but with a little hesitation he did it well and went 3 more times after that.

Pat and Alora talk about the time Alora spent at Camp WAPO last week and how it is her last time there. She went by herself and still had a blast. If you don't know Alora yet she is able to befriend just about anybody with her personality which will defiantly help her in the future.
Also Alora did not know that she was going to be going to an interview right after leaving camp and was not excited about doing so.
Why? Only one shower that week, dirty hair, dirty cloths, smelly, not ideal interview condition. Fortunately the person that was interviewing Alora was well aware of her situation and was very understanding of her hygiene at the time.

Pat and Alora dip down a few different topics today and one of them are sauces. There was a tine where Alora refused to eat sauces of any kind. That is not an uncommon thing, but on the other side of the spectrum Bo eats all the sauces. So that is a person to person thing. The question now is what sauces does she eat and not eat. If it was her choice it would be nothing but Ranch. Which is good but only one can get tiresome.
Alora has her last rock band concert this week and is singing a new song, "Alive" by Pearl Jam. My suggestion to her was to make it her own because trying to copy Eddie Vedder's voice is going to be a lot harder. There is only one Eddie Vedder and let's keep it that way.
It was also mom's birthday this week and we had to give her a shout out because its mom and she's the best.

Pat and Alora had a hard time talking today, especially Pat. Every day can't go smooth and today proved that.
But Alora has had a very fun and busy week. With singing in a Variety Show, to running Track when it was 95 degrees outside, to learning how to mow the lawn.
There are things that you just need to know and one of them is mowing the lawn. If you are like Pat you enjoy mowing the lawn and are kind of particular about it, but sometimes He can't get to it, so here is Alora to the rescue.
Part of parenting is teaching your kids how to be an adult, just wait till Alora gets her drivers license and needs to learn how to change a tire. That is going to be some long days.

As a parent You never know when your should start teaching your kids certain things but I did get a huge bite of reality the other day when I went to get Bo baseball cleats and there were not velcro shoes. Well, it is time. I am very happy that Bo loves to try new things and learn because we sat together for about 30min and he started to get pretty quick.
Is it perfect yet? Nope. But neither are some adults at tying their shoes.

Pat is alone today because life thru the Davy family a hard curve over the weekend and not to say we couldn't of got all the podcasts done but decisions were made for the greater good.
Was it the best? I'm still fighting my brain on that.
We can only control ourselves and thats a hard pill to swallow sometimes. As humans we want all things to go our way, but thats not how life works.
We have to make decisions based on the things that are happening around us and sometimes the decision you make is not the way you want to go, but the best decision for the least amount of friction.
Was I right, was I wrong? I don't know, but the decision was made. I have made my bed and now I need to sleep in it, right or wrong.

It started with her birthday on Sunday. A snow day from school on Tuesday (which was garbage). Then ended with dinner and an Escape Room experience with her mom, aunt, and cousin.
We all have over eaten at some point in our lives but anytime you go to an all you can eat buffet you are asking for trouble. And with these 4 ladies, sushi was their demise.
What can you do but enjoy a week like this and be happy that there are a lot of good people around you who appreciate you and like to be with you.

Pat and Alora start off today with a talk about how life threw them a hard curve the other day and screwed up the day for the whole Davy family. It was completely out of their control but needless to say Pat did not handle it very well. Curveballs happen and you have to roll with them. Do you have to like them...no. But you have to be able to adjust or you will turn into a Pat.
They also talked about being alone. More along the sense of being home alone during the day and night. Fortunately Alora is very comfortable at home alone when she needs to be but ther are times where she does get a little creeped out.

Pat and Alora start of the podcast with a little bit of sas about technology. Pat is a big believer that technology is going to be our demise and Alora is scared if that is true how many crying middle schoolers there would be. Our conclusion, a lot.
We also talked about one of the gifts that Alora and Bo got for a gift from mom and dad this year and that was a Nintendo Switch. Pat was always afraid of getting another console because he was afraid that he would start playing it too much. And so far it has been just enough.
They finish with Alora's temper tantrums when she was younger. She was young and a spitfire and Dad was having none of it. From walking away from her during a meltdown in Target to having a strict conversation with her 4k teacher explaining to her what was appropriate.
Good thing Pat is not scary or intimidating other wise that could have been an uncomfortable conversation.

Pat and Alora get a little deep today because Pat really wants to know what kind of things Alora is inspired by. Mostly because a young teenager, where their brain is all over the place with all kind of teenage thoughts, what makes her get up in the morning and why is she excited about certain things.
We also dig into how Alora likes to accomplish things without anyone knowing. The argument that Pat makes about that is that you can try to accomplish something but if you don't tell anyone that you are doing it then it's a lot easier to quit doing it when things get tough and hard. Having an accountability buddy is a great thing to have and use when you are going through stuff because then you will have more drive to accomplish it.

Pat and Alora talk about her most recent sining solo that she had in front of the high school show choir group and high school band and how she got many complements from her own peers and high schoolers and got asked to sing in "Rock Band". Bad Hair Days, we've all had them. Trusting others is something we all have had a bad experience with. But have you ever had to tell someone that trusts you that their hair look like crap. Not an easy thing to do. Unless you're a guy, then nobody cares.
The truth hurts sometimes, but you have to hear it to become a better smarter person. if you only talk to people that give you a false sense of comfort will only hurt you.

Pat has to apologize to Alora today because of how he and Aloras mom reacted to Alora telling them that she wanted to run track this spring.
How they responded to Alora being vulnerable and letting them know what she wanted was not ok.
In a bad parental defense Alora has never showed any interest in track or running and so there was confusion. Just because Alora has never shown interest doesn't mean she can't change her mind.
As parents we have to look at how we talk to our kids sometimes and realize how we talk to them can affect them.

They also talk about all the hard work that Alora did to be able to get her first serve in volleyball. Alora was struggling to hit the ball over the net during a game all season and she finally did it. As father and daughter, Pat and Alora do see things differently sometimes. Like Pat likes the mall enough to get in, get what he was going to get, and get out. Alora on the other hand would spent hours in their just window shopping and eating in the food court.
Where they do see eye to eye is their distaste for Crocs. They are fully aware that there is no grey area when it comes to Crocs, either you love them or hate them. Pat and Alora are the ladder.
But if you have ever went out to dinner on a date with your significant other and choose your Crocs to be your personal footwear, you are a canoe.

Bo is an excellent reader and has started reading chapter books. He still likes picture books with some reading but has really taken a liking for straight up chapter books.
I'm gonna give Bo's mom and I a lot of credit on that because for many years now we have read to Bo before bed and thank fully he has really dove into being read to and reading by himself.

Pat and Alora have a great talk today about being vulnerable. Alora was not fully aware how vulnerable she is on a regular basis. Being yourself, especially in middle school is very hard and yet some how Alora is knocking it out of the park.
Alora also make a huge meal 95% all by herself feeding eight people and spending 4-5 hrs in the kitchen preparing it.

Soooo, Pat and Bo spent the day at Urgent Care the other day because Bo was complaining about his ear hurting. Pat, when he was younger, had a lot of ear infections so immediately he thought it was an ear infection. Thankfully it was not.
Bo crushed the pools, lakes, swimming grounds this year so for him to get swimmer's ear made sense. A week of drops and he will feel like a boss again.

If you are a parent you can possibly remember a rotary telephone. I 100% do because we had a zero in our house phone which was always a pain in the butt. Alora refers to them as "Old Timey Telephones", Which hurts my brain to hear that put into that form. But sadly she is not all wrong with that either.
Also becasue Alora knows she talks and smartly as Pat at times she refers to how she speaks as in "in Aloras words". Which is accurate and comical.

Alora has been gone from her loving family for just over 2 weeks doing all the fun things, including 5 days at camp and she, like most camp kids, loved it and cant wait until next year.

Bo is not a fan of spicy food but he is willing to taste almost anything. Which from a parenting look is fantastic. I have a very open pallet and so does his mom so we cook all the food and Bo does great navigating new food and even spicy foods, from time to time.

Pat and Alora had a very careful talk today because Alora was under the weather and had to be told many of times that she was not aloud to sniffle during the podcast. If you listen hard enough you may be able to hear one or two little ones but over all she was great.
Alora has had a very busy summer for only being four days old. She started off by doing some landscaping with dad, had to spend time cleaning her room/disaster area, all the while manning the washer and dryer. She did get some downtime to go for a walk but only to listen to music while it was 97 degrees outside.
Ohhhhhh, and we got some good water time over the weekend. Alora really enjoys the water.
Lots of things to do this summer, and it's time to hit it hard.

As tee ball is coming to a close in a couple of weeks Bo was able to play in their weekend tournament (while it was 95 degrees) and he had a blast. Bo loves to stay busy and gets excited at whatever sport he is going to be playing that day. Regardless if it is tee ball or kick ball, soon to be football, lets just get him a ball.

He got the Sam Davey Splash Award for the end of the year and was able to spend time with a 3rd grader playing with robots.
As simple as I may say it I this is also a bragging dad moment. I have good kids. I enjoy that.
But, Bo describes both the award and the robots in a way that only Bo can explain to you.

Pat and Alora have a deep discussion about the difference between arguing and debating. You don't have to agree with every body on every stance, you do have the right to have your own opinion on it. And regardless if you are right or wrong you can still have an amazing conversation with people about opposing sides of a topic.
Sadly we live in the cotton candy world right now that every Dick and Nancy are so soft that you disagree with what they are saying they get all butt hurt.
I say keep hurting butts. Debating is fun, but you also have to look at both sides, otherwise, you're just being naive.
Confrontation is different. You are in a position that you may upset someone. Most people hate confrontation. But if you know your purpose, like standing up to a bully. It's hard, but you may just calm the situation by doing it.

Pat and Alora have a great discussion between the difference of inspiration and motivation and give many examples of both.
To be inspired you have to have a feeling about something, a book that means something to you, a picture that talks to you, you listen to a Ted Talk. There are so many ways to be inspired that all you need to do is listen to what is around you and you can find inspiration.
To be motivated mean to take action. To do something about what you are inspired by or even when you have the motivation to do things that you don't want to do, but you do it anyway, to better yourself for the future.
As parents we want our kids to to things that we did. But not all kids will follow their parents lead. Its our job as parents to listen to our kids and allow them to follow the path that inspires them.

Chris Jorgenson has been the Director of the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center for the last nine years. He has built it up from nothing to what it is today. Top school for LGBTQ+ students in Wisconsin and top three nationally.
Chris' overall objective is to have anyone that is in the LGBTQ+ community the best experience that they can have throughout their college career.
He helps mentor incoming students to what is available to them and helps some of them though tough situations that they might be having at home or through their peer group.
We have an amazing conversation that leaves us talking about many topics that include:
- what the resource center can do for you
- owning your power
- what they are doing for local k-12 schools
- and much more
I had the pleasure of talking with him a couple of times and found that everything that he says is very genuine and wants to help you and wants you to succeed. But somethings the hardest thing is walking though the door.

Pat and Alora have a lot of fun today even though one of Alora's questions backfired on her.
We talk about showing effort vs not showing effort in school and life and how that can effect you.
We also dig into one of our favorite topics, breakfast food, and Alora tells you about her favorites and I tell you a food that disgusted my wife while I ate it.
Alora is becoming a teenager soon and not that she doesn't already act like it but we also discuss what its like to be one and the responsibilities that come with it.
A new activity that Alora is doing is guitar lessons and is having a blast with it. Only a week in and its going well. So far so good.
Lastly we discuss showing appreciation for others. Regardless if its a simple thank you for someone opening a door for you or writing a letter to someone that means a lot to you. Everyone needs to know that they are appreciated and to show that means the world to every one.

Brandy Becker is a mom, wife, and a nurse here in the Chippewa Valley. She has been on the frontlines through out this whole pandemic seeing first hand what Covid 19 has done to people and family's.
Brandy is an outspoken, fun, energetic woman. But everyone has their breaking point. Brandy has been able to lean on her husband and daughter pretty hard over the last 10 months because of the stress that she has from her job.
Don't get me wrong, Brandy loves her job and has been working in the medical field since she was 16.
Brandy love knowledge and is constantly going to school and bettering herself for not only her craft but also to be a better mom and wife.
Pat has been blessed to have known Brandy for over 5 years now and have seen her grow into her badass self.
Those who know her knows that she carries her emotions on her sleeve, but they also know that she would do anything for anybody.
The caring nature of a nurse is something that is only a nurse can have, and to all the of frontline workers I say Thank You!

Pat and Bo talk about the first time that Bo tried to blow a bubble with gum and Pat teaching him how to fold paper for a paper airplane.
Blowing the bubble did not fair well but Bo did fantastic at the folding of the paper for his airplane.

Michael McHorney is the Executive Director of the ECCM and has been for the last several years.
In those several years they have seen many positives from membership growth, Updates in the ECCM facilities to the point that they now have to store things off site.
The initial building that the ECCM is in was made to be a department store and over the years the ECCM has morphed into an amazing attraction for kids and adults.
But with current circumstances they had to make the hard decision of permanently closing the current facility.
With hard work and a lot of vision the ECCM is set to reopen in 2022 in an amazing new building.
Michael and Pat talk about how this all came about and how amazing his staff has been still wanting to be a part of their community even with the doors being closed.

Michelle Urlaub is a mom with many things on her plate. She is a wife, mom, runner, cross country skier, on-road cyclist, has a hobby farm at home and is a nurse.
How does she do it all? Because she knows it all takes hard work and work that she is happy to do.

A big thing that both Pat and Nick agree on is that activities of any fashion are important. No matter if it's baseball or dancing. Giving kids that sense of accomplishment at a young age only boosts their confidence to do bigger and better things in life.

Dan Leritz is from a small town in Northern Minnesota. He has had an 18 year teaching career teaching History and Social Studies. Through time and change he went from teaching in Western Minnesota to Kuwait. There has been many changes that Dan needed to be accustomed to. How to drive in a congested area, Living in a small apartment with his family and how to teach in a foreign country.
All of these things seemed hard at first but Dan has become very accustomed to the way of life in the middle east and, as of right now, enjoys where he is. How long term....He is unsure.

Pat and Alora have a very deep discussion that got a little off topic but was still good. Assessing yourself is a great way to find out what you are doing good and bad. But you have to be honest with yourself. That alone takes time to learn that skill.
We also talk about confronting your parents. How do you do that? That is all about reading your parents. The only wrong way is starting off yelling. For me if either of kids were mad at me and started yelling at me I would shut down and not concern with myself with their feelings at all. Is that the best way to do that. Probably not, but thats my way.
You have to make your kids comfortable to know that they can talk to you which is tough but doable.
We also dig down about the word no and how that can hurt both parents and kids and owning up to your mistakes.
A lot of things discussed today but a lot of good discussion for you and your kids also.

Matt Poore is an average man that loves Hamm's beer, his wife and kids, and running. Running is what actually brought his wife and himself together.
About a year and a half ago Matt completed his first 100 mile ultra marathon and we break down the memoir he wrote shortly after he completed it.
He talks about his ups and downs, his inability to eat solid food half way through, his crew (friend) messing with him about spoons and much more.
This was a great conversation about a man reliving pain, glory and coming out on top.

Jeremy tells us about his family bought Olson's Ice Cream from the Olson family in 2007 and have expanded it in more ways than expected.
From opening a new store in Eau Claire to now expanding to a food truck they have been a very busy small business.

Collin Kudrna is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, but do not call him Dr. Collin, he prefers Collin, I learn that on the podcast. But I Early 2017 he moved his family to Bismarck, ND to be closer to family. With a growing family at the time and the want to start his own practice this was the best time to really take charge of what he was doing to make the best world for himself and his family.
With a business, new home and 4 kids he is a busy man but loves all parts of it. Collin is a man that what you see is what you get and that is not true about all people. That for me though is why I enjoy Collin as much as I do. He is honest and genuine and those are two qualities in people that are important to me.

Pat and Alora really go around and around today and retouch on some things. It got really spazzy but we completed it and we made it out alive.
Alora has a good morning routine for herself and sticks to it pretty well and when it comes to the rest of it when she is not doing well its mom and dads job to remind her and keep her on point. A lot of it is slightly reminding her and getting her to remember on her own.
Alora has been learning a lot while babysitting her brother on how to keep him busy and how to burn some energy. Her building workouts for them and us brings me ultimate joy. I hope that in some way that I am rubbing off on her. Not that I want her to be a personal trainer, but to understand the importance of fitness and how to stay healthy.

Pat and Alora dig into what school is like right now. Alora is hybrid so 2 days at school and 3 days virtual. She talks about the differences that she deals with compared to last year. Is it the same? Not even close.
We also talk about picking out your cloths and how asking mom to help her was a good thing to do, mostly for mom. And its ok to ask dad for help too. But probably not fashion, not a good idea. Unless you like sweatpants and hoodies, I'm not going to help.
New kids, teachers, protocols, it's all weird for kids and parents. Your child is going to adapt and as a parent you do to. Have your own beliefs, but don't bang them into your child's head. They have enough to worry about, and let them make their own choices.

Charles Bolden is the Head Coach of the UW Eau Claire Baseball team that he couldn't be more excited. From Being introduced as the head coach back in early February, going through recruiting through a pandemic, and balancing his wife and daughter through a move from northern Illinois to Eau Claire, Charles crushed it.
Charles told me that he is probably the only coach in the whole USofA that is happy for this pandemic because it really gave him a lot of positive opportunities to do all the work that he needed to do to get ready for 2021 baseball season.
We talk about the mental game of baseball, how his players are already finding a rhythm with each other and his approach to making the most successful team as he can.

Parents: Be patient with the teachers. They are amazing people that are working their tail off to get your kids back in school. I know many that are just as nervous as you as a parent, if not more. We have to entrust them with our children and that they are doing what they need to do to keep the kids, and themselves safe.
Thank you teachers/educators for all the hard work that you have had to do to get school up and running. This is one more step in slowly finding the new normal.

Misti Trowbridge is a local principal and director of student services in a school system in our area. She has been working inside the school system for 24 years and has seen a lot. She worked with the special education programs for many years before she moved to more of an administer role.
Kids are just as affected by stress and anxiety as adults and most of the time it is their home life that is the root cause of it. Fortunately, most parents are willing to look for the help that their child needs to give them better opportunity for success. But sometimes parents are not aware that there are issues. This is where Misti and her team of counselors step in and assist the parents and children as much as they can.
Misti loves what she does and you can hear it in her voice when she talks about it. This is a great episode for anyone to listen to if you feel you my have any issues yourself or your child does because we all need a little help from time to time.

Kayleigh Johnson is the first guest that we had on The Beast Mode Kids Podcast and she did not disappoint. Kayleigh is going to be an 8th grader this next year and with her experience with middle school and different issues that she had dealt with and was willing to talk about on the podcast was very impressive.
From being on the short end of the stick with bullying and having to deal with middle school drama between friends we can all relate. As parents it hurts to see your child upset or angry or sad because of someone else's actions. But then to see a stronger person come out on the other side is a remainder to us parents that we're doing things right.
We have all taken bumps along the way (literally and figuratively), but hopefully you can look at those bumps and be thankful for them to help mold you into the strong person you are today.

Tim Molepske is a man that was determined to have custody of his three sons. Growing up in Texas and than moving to Alabama for work with his family was something that he had to do but as time went on he couldn't preserve his marriage to his x-wife. During the divorce and custody hearings Tim had to move up to Wisconsin for work leaving his kids in Alabama. There were times where he didn't talk to his kids for up to three months but that did not stop this superhero dad from fighting for custody of his boys and eventualy moving them up to Wisconsin with him.
Tim is now remarried to his lovely wife Sara and has two more step kids. Tim is what all dads should be, a fighter.

Bo also is helping me grow grass by turning on and off the water faucet outside. He has become a dodging master and can do it without getting wet.

Pat and Alora have a great talk today about trimming Alora's hair, not different than it is, just a trim.
Getting done with 6th grade and how much her world really isn't going to change to much.
Alora is hoping for some opportunity to do some kind of art camp this summer or possibly some more swimming lessons.
We, as a family, would love to be able to get back to a cabin that we rented last year but with all the crazy we are unsure if we are able to.
Keeping in contact with your friends thru text, phone call, ect. Is great for kids and is also a necessity for them.
Kids cannot grow without interactions outside of the family members they are always around. Let them have the time to grow.

Amy Zais was not an easy child but she grew up teaching others how to be better human beings and better person in general.
Education was not an imitate path for Amy but once she hit a fork in the road she found that education and teaching was something that she was passionate about.
Today I talk to Amy about some of the things that she did, good and bad, and how it influenced her path.
Amy has lived a very full life and its most certainly not over. Amy is has been battling cancer since 2018 and hasn't given up yet.
Her drive and determination is something to admire, as I do, and having this conversation with Amy today allowed me to know Amy better and learn why she is who she is.
Tough kid, multiple attempts at college, teacher, assistant principal, cancer fighter, friend, motivator, determined. Badass!!!

Erin Holland has been a military wife for 15 years and has been homeschooling her four children for nine years. Erin never expected to home school her kids, but as with many things in life-plans change and she was given the opportunity to do what she never thought she would. She is currently hoping to make it through a military mobilization with her children all accounted for and her sanity intact.
I've been blessed to have had the opportunity to get to know both Erin and her husband and I know that they both have amazing parental morals and will do anything that they can do to teach their kids to be the best humans that they can.

They went from your standard grading system (A,B,C,D,F to Pass/Fail). Just for this quarter, but Alora has her thoughts on it.
We also learn that Alora wants to be successful but doesnt need to be the smartest person in the room.

Pat and Bo discuss his new bike today. Bo has been an expert level bike rider since one week before his 4th birthday and he will be turning 6 this summer. He needed an upgrade and we went from a 12" to a 16 inch bike. It is a used bike from a friend of ours and it is the best. I love it. Bo's mom loves it, and most importantly Bo loves it.
There was one stipulation with it though. We had to keep the license plate on it. And once I saw it, I was all in.

His favorite is the connect the dots. Where he can work on his counting and his drawing skills.
Bo also likes math. Lots of addition pages that we have Bo do and he knocks them out of the park. We also dabble in subtraction but that is a work in progress.

Josh Howie with his wife Jamie and twin daughters, Sydney and Remi, live a very structured and regimented life because of both (Josh and Jamie) of their work schedules are long. And with having twin girls that are under the age of 2 they needed to look for the best help that they could find that fit their needs as new parents.
Josh and I talk about a lot of thing today from the girls being 7 weeks early to finding the best daycare for both the parents and the girls. (Spoiler Alert) Josh also tells me, for the first time, how he passed out during the birth and what position he was in when he saw his first daughter.
Josh and I have been friends for 20 years and to have him as a guest on my podcast was nothing but an easy conversation. And most likely not the last time on the podcast.

Leslie Huntington has been the head coach of the UW Eau Claire Blugolds softball program for 19 years. She is the Blugolds’ all-time winningest coach and earned her 400th career win on March 20, 2016. At the time the season was canceled in 2020, due to the corona virus outbreak, she was 1 win shy of 500 in her head coaching career.
In 2008 Huntington led the Blugolds to an NCAA Division III national championship, the first in program history. In 2007 the team finished third in the nation.
Between 2004-2006, Huntington received three WIAC Coach of the Year awards in a row, each year the Blugolds won WIAC titles, the first time in WIAC history a team won three straight. She was also named WIAC Coach of the Year in 2012.
Her coaching staff earned national recognition in 2008 when they received the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Coaching Staff of the Year award. In 2006 and 2007 the coaching staff earned NFCA Great Lakes Region Coaching Staff of the Year.
In 1997 and 1999 Huntington’s teams at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa won NCAA Division III titles. In 1996 and 1998 the teams finished third in at the NCAA Division III National Championship. Huntington also served as head athletic trainer at Simpson College for six years. In 2000 and 2001 she was the co-head coach of Nevada Community Schools softball program in Nevada, Iowa. Huntington spent two years as a certified athletic trainer with the Des Moines Sports Medicine Clinic in Des Moines, Iowa.
Huntington earned her bachelor’s degree from Buena Vista College in 1992 and was a two-sport athlete. She played first base and was a co-captain on BVU’s NCAA Division III national runner-up softball team in 1992. She was a GTW/CoSIDA Academic All-Region recipient. She played basketball for four years at the college, whose 1989-1990 team advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament.
In 2000 Huntington earned her master’s degree from Iowa State University in health and human performance with an emphasis in sports administration.
Coach Huntington is currently pursuing opportunities as a Mental Performance Consultant, while continuing to coach the Blugolds. She has started her business, More Than A Game Mental Performance Consulting, and will be starting her own podcasts, along with an online course geared toward high school student-athletes who wish to pursue college athletics. She also plans to consult with coaches, teams, corporate groups, etc., in the future as well. Her passion is helping develop leadership, culture, and self-improvement.

Ryan Dahlgren grew up in Eau Claire, straight away upon graduation Ryan joined the US Army and was trained in airborne infantry. Ryan was stationed with the 3rd US Infantry in Arlington VA. After Ryan got out he went to college and graduated from UWEC. He has been in law enforcement for close to 22 years. Ryan's spent his first five and 1/2 years with the Wisconsin State Patrol and the past 16 1/2 years with ECPD.
Although Ryan is not on social media the ECPD is on several platforms to include FB and Twitter. We are always accessible to the public so call us or get ahold of us another way anytime.

Pat and Bo talk about Bo riding his bike already this year. He loves his Spiderman helmet and loves to go fast.
Proud dad moment. I worked really hard with Bo to learn how to ride his bike and he was able to ride his bike before he turned 4yrs old. It was maybe a week before but it still counts.

Pat and Alora have a great talk to day about what to do what you can't sleep. I like to breath, Alora likes to draw.
I talk to Alora about what gives her stress. We talked about three things. But she is in middle school, there is way more than three things.
Every birthday Alora not only gets older but also more chores around the house. (its bathroom time)
Finding an outlet for anger and expressing yourself can sometimes be the same thing. Alora seems to have some things figured out.

Amy Wolfe is part owner of TrubilT Collision Center in Altoona and Eau Claire, WI along with her Father and Brother. Amy not only puts in a lot of time at work making sure that her business runs smoothly but also travels a lot for the business to events, leadership workshops, and expos.
While Amy works hard at her job to make sure she is making her customers and employees happy she also has to balance her time and effort with her family. With her husband and two daughters a major priority in her life the sacrifice that she has to make between work and family can get taxing. There is a lot of mom guilt that comes from long hours and days on the road traveling.
Amy has found some ways to help stay connected with her family when she is away but it is never the same reading your kids a story over skype rather than laying in bed cuddled up with them.
Amy knows that this is her life right now and does all that she can to keep the balance.
Amy talks about how life and work clash, the struggles that she has had and what she had to do to balance it out.
We all have different lives and priorities but balance in no matter what you do is key.

Pat and Alora (and family) celebrate Alora's birthday this week. So far being 12 is awesome. But how do you be awesome without being too greedy and being able to be grateful for all the things you have.
After school activities are going to become more as Alora gets older and she know it. Just not what to do yet.
Summer School is a great thing to dip your feet into if you are unsure what you enjoy and try new things. Alora is doing some Broadway/Theatre thingy.

Missy Heard is a great friend of mine and I was able to watch her go thru both of her pregnancies and she most certainly had more issues on #2 than she did on #1. Missy's first pregnancy went well with very little issues and her daughter is an amazing little girl that is full of spunk and spirit and just a joy to be around. Missy's son is still young yet I watched him give Missy more issues in his short life on earth that her daughter ever did.
Stress, anxiety, postpartum depression; we touch on all of them and they are a real thing for many woman.
As a father of two I knew exactly what she was going thru because Alora and Bo are two different animals and gave my wife two very different experiences during her pregnancy.
I hope there are many parents that listen to this and either know exactly what Missy is talking about to help a parent prepare for #2.

Pat and Alora and family just got back from vacation and Alora had to do some homework while on the road. She discusses what she had to do and how easy it was.
Alora tells us about her first day back at school which was a Friday but felt like a Monday.
We dig into Social Media again, again!!!!! But Alora is getting impatient and for good reason. We talk about the reading app that she got denied getting and Tic Toc

Alora went on her first big roller coaster and almost chickened out. But instead we used peer pressure on her and she was happy that we did.
We as a family just back from vacation and it was Bo's first time on an airplane. He had a blast and everyone on the plane was great to Bo.
Bo is growing and loves doing this podcast. There will be a time when 5 minutes wont be enough. So be prepared.

Missy Vircks is a proud mom of two and most recently her oldest child left the house to go off to college. This transition was and still is difficult due to she has been a mom since her early 20's. Being a mom is part of who she is and watching one of her children leave the house broke a little part of her.
If you do not know Missy she is a very opinionated, vocal, sarcastic, and strong woman. She is also kind of a teddy bear when it comes to her mom feelings but beware, she is also a mama bear that will take you down if you bark up the wrong tree.
She is not the first person to have these kinds of feeling nor will she be the last. Sometimes just hearing that someone else is having the same struggles as you help you calm your brain.

Thats a slippery road so if you are truly depressed you should talk to a parent, teacher, councilor, someone you trust to get the best help that you can
They also dig a little deeper and start with stereotypes and how they can get bad and get you in trouble.
Boys/Girls they all have stereotypes of things that they should and should not do. Hopefully they all get crushed someday.
They also discuss sexuality and how Pat was raised in the 90's where you had to hide who you were if it was different of the rest. And Alora gets to thrive with her ability to be open with her friends that are part of the LGBTQ+ community.
