Since the Bible is authoritative over all the it speaks, we believe it speaks to every issue (Psalm 19:7-14). The goal in every episode is to get to the biblical heart of the matter and ask, “what does God have to say?” With this approach you will see that everything is a Matter of Theology.

In today's episode, Drew and Chris take a deep dive, and we mean DEEP dive (just over 3 hours) into the topic of head coverings from 1 Corinthians 11:2-16. This topic is addressed by the Apostle Paul (using 15 verses), under the divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit, in a very specific way for a very specific reason. This is not a difficult passage to interpret and apply however there are many who steer clear of it or do not take a consistent and/or balanced hermeneutical approach to exegeting the text. Our goal is to address this from all sides using Scripture, church history, the culture in Corinth at the time, and our culture today.

On Sunday Feb 5, 2023, recording artist Sam Smith took to the platform at the Grammy Awards to perform the hit song (according to the world’s standards) “Unholy.” Sam, dressed as Satan and his team then performed “Unholy” as one would expect considering the artist, the name of the song, and the time we live in. The next day many Christians took to social media to publicly express their thoughts on the performance (and rightly so).
However, many of those who were so outspoken still willingly invite in and/or support those to whom scripture refers to as "savage wolves" in many areas of their own lives. Originally aired in January of 2019, “Reckless Love, Reckless Worship” was an episode in which the guys drew a line in the sand when it comes to examining the songs we sing and who is writing them. When this episode was originally released we got to see first hand the truth in this quote:

The topic of Hell is often neglected nowadays. People are turned away from the idea that God would actually send people to a place called Hell, so it is either glossed over or never mentioned. In this episode, we discuss the nature of Hell and why pastors must teach on Hell as it relates to the character of God.
The great hymn writer John Newton said as he was getting old in age, "I am a great sinner, but Christ is a great savior." How do you view your sin? How do you deal with your sin? What is interesting is that while we should grieve and mourn our sin, it should also magnify the gospel. Though I be a sinner, being a sinner is a necessary qualification for receiving salvation. At the same time, our receiving salvation is by no means a license to sin.

The Puritan Stephen Charnock uses the phrase "practical atheism" in order to describe someone who does not deny God, but lives as though God does not exist. We can move this idea ahead to our modern day and we would call this lukewarm christianity.
