In this podcast we will explore the role of creatives from all fields in tackling the current climate crisis; their attempts to make the industry greener and to communicate the emergency. In each episode we will talk about the challenges of the creative industries with some of their representatives. Join us, to understand what steps can be taken to make the industry sustainable and to investigate the narratives and meanings that shape our relationship with the planet!
In this episode, we're talking about festivals and sustainability. What is the environmental impact of festivals? How can festivals be more sustainable? Which are the challenges that organisers are facing? We try to answers these and more questions with Gabija Zakarauskaite and Sam Holt. Gabija is an architect who specialises in sustainable development and low-impact living. Sam is a structural engineer, event organiser and Dj; together they have been organising the JATS Jumpin' At The Seaside Festival since 2015. Based in Brighton, it is a swing dance event with a clear sustainable agenda.
In this episode, we're discussing fashion and sustainability. We're happy to do so with Branko Popovic, co-founder and co-director of Fashionclash. Fashionclash is a Maastricht based showcase platform for fashion as well as worldwide network of emerging designers and artists. Not only they recognise and encourage young sustainable designers, but they also raise awareness about sustainability amongst a larger audience. Two of their projects with a strong sustainable ethos are the Fashion Makes Sense Award and Taskforce Fashion. We discuss Fashionclash's view on sustainability, how the fashion industry can adapt to the climate crisis and the role of designers and of the industry at large. We also understand how individuals, can make new, sustainable fashion choices.
In this episode we’re looking at architecture and sustainability. We are welcoming onto our podcast Sascha Glasl, one of the co-founders of Space&Matter, an Amsterdam based architecture studio. Their vision is more than simply designing buildings, but to help with creating a better built environment and foster a cohesive society. Their work is focused on the contribution to financial, social and environmental improvements. They have created projects like De Ceuvel, Sweets hotel (recently awarded the FRAME award) and Schoonschip.
