For the second half of our interview with legendary Journal/Sentinel reporter, Crocker Stephenson, we asked Crocker to share some of his stories that made an impact on him. He chose one particular story that, in his words, "made the biggest impact on me". It's an incredibly insightful story for many different reasons and centers around a burn survivor named George Bennett. Last time we talked with Crocker Stephenson, his vision was rapidly deteriorating due to an eye condition called retinyl myopathy. This week we check in with him, not only for an update on his condition, but also to tell us about how he's turned "lemons into lemonade". Crocker starts by walking us through his diagnosis and the progression of his condition, then shares with us how the Vision Forward organization has significantly impacted his life and the way he has dealt with his situation. Today we get together to pay tribute to a legend in Milwaukee Brewers and baseball broadcasting history, "Mr. Baseball", Bob Uecker. Unfortunately Bob passed away on January 16, 2025. As the Brewers' team photographer, our guest Scott Paulus spent almost 30 years working with Bob, so we asked him to come in and chat with us about his experiences with Mr. Baseball. September 2021's features the incomparable Andy Donohoo, from Season 3. Every time Andy stops in the studio he brings it. Quite honestly we wish he would take it with him. We call him to tell him to pick it up. There's all that phone tag screwing around. I think it's like a game for him.
It was 2019, a simpler time. It was pre-covid, or maybe not. I think that weird one day chest cold thing I had was probably the virus. It was in May, so that would make me the earliest documented case. Perhaps. Anyway, it was a simpler time. Jim Stingl was a prominent columnist at the Milwaukee Journal. We had him on our show and we asked him a number of questions. I'm sure we thought our questions were insightful at the time, but they have not aged well. You be the judge. However, in hindsight I wish I would asked him what's the deal with the missing "e" in his last name. A missed opportunity for me. This however is a opportunity for you. A chance to listen to this 2019 podcast in it's entirety without the intros and outros for a more streamlined experience.
