During the last several weeks we have watched the horrendous videos of two black lives taken too soon. As a result, we have all been catapulted into a conversation—a much needed conversation—about race and reconciliation. The cry for justice and the plea that black lives really do matter is being heard around the world. With so much coming to the surface, we have such an opportunity to seize the moment to heal the deep wounds in our nation. In this episode of The Living Room, Gunter and Bethany sit down with Jeff and Jasmine to talk about how they are processing these events and what we, as the Church, can do during these crucial moments.

In episode 2 we continue our conversation with Gunter and Alex on prayer as it relates to God’s will and timing. Are you praying but not seeing the answers you want to see. This episode will help you find a balance of believing God for answers while trusting His timing.

“Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” - Matthew 6:10

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:2‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’” And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭18:1-8‬ ‭ESV‬‬

In this episode of The Living Room we sit down with Alex Prather to talk about the “both / and” of prayer. How we see God affects how we approach Him in prayer. He is both King and Father. What does it mean to approach God as both a servant and a son / daughter.

“Jesus said to him, ‘Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?” - John 14:9
