The Lightning Podcast is all about getting God’s people interested in the Word.
Believers in Christ are called to grow in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18). Our greatest calling is to know and walk with our Lord and Savior. But far too many Christians don’t realize the key to becoming all that God has called them to be is in studying the Bible.
This show is devoted to inspiring Christians from all denominations and backgrounds to dig into God’s Word. To know God, you have to know his voice. To know his voice, you gotta read his Word.
When we let God’s word become the most important force in our lives, things start to get really exciting.
We've reached the end of 1 Samuel. Much has changed for the nation of Israel. But what is the fate of Saul, their first king? We visit Saul's very last battle. But even in the midst of defeat, God shows his anointed a final act of kindness.
God provides a great victory for David and his men. But there are a few men who don't appreciate God's kindness and refuse to show it to others. Discover how David wisely reacts to this tense situation--and what God's Word is saying to us through it!

David is still on the run. And he ends up living in a cave. But although he's reached a low point in his life, something starts to change. God is at work in his life and people are flocking to him. It's not much, but it is the start of something big.

In this episode, we finish moving through chapter 15 of 1 Samuel. We discover Saul's reaction to Samuel's stern prophecy. But is Saul really repenting? What does his reaction really reveal about his character? And what does it tell us about our own lives?
Samuel the prophet is sent to Saul with a strong rebuke. He must confront the king at the height of his power. We are moving through 1 Samuel, chapter 15. Saul and his men attack Amalek, winning the victory as God promised. But, we get to one of Saul's biggest moments of disobedience. Why did Saul directly disobey God? And how can his stubborn refusal to listen to the Lord benefit us today?
We're continuing through 1 Samuel 15, one of the most pivotal chapters in the Bible. Instead of rushing through it, we are taking our time. In the next few verses, we learn about Saul's kindness to the Kenites. He warns them to flee before the battle begins. Why is he so confident that he is going to win his war against Amalek? We spend some time looking at one of the ways God uses adversity to build our faith.
God returns to Saul with what we learn is one last order. Destroy an entire nation, including the women and children. Why is God ordering Saul to do something so terrible? In this episode, we finish up chapter 14 of 1 Samuel. We learn a little bit about King Saul's family. And we get a glimpse into his military conquests. But, wait a minute. Saul was successful? We're back in 1 Samuel 14, where Saul's rash oath ends up making problems for everyone. Including his own son. The Philistines get away and Israel's left with major headaches. Learn how Saul's adding to God's word actually produced more sin than righteous. And how to avoid this trap yourself.
God gave Israel a great victory, thanks to Prince Jonathan's bold faith. But just as soon as they see the Philistines running, Saul goes ahead and ruins everything. He makes an idiotic oath that hampers the nation's ability to totally defeat their enemies. And, guess what? We might do the same thing, when we make the work of God about ourselves. 1 Samuel Chapter 11. Saul's rulership gets off to a rocky start. But God has a plan to ensure the entire nation is united under him, by giving him an opportunity to defeat an enemy. Under the power of the Holy Spirit, Saul gathers up the tribes of Israel to take on the Ammonites. What does this episode tell us about the way God is working in our lives? And want do we have to do to unite as God's people, to defeat our enemy?
We finish 1 Samuel chapter 10, with Samuel revealing Saul to the people of Israel. But even now, Saul is doubting himself. And some of the people doubt him, too. What does this say about their hearts? And what does this say about us, and how we look at God?
We're continuing our journey through the book of 1 Samuel. It's chapter 10 and we've met a major new player, a young man named Saul. God orchestrated his path to meet Samuel, who lays a bombshell on this Benjamite. Now, he sends him on his way, predicting a staggering number of soon-to-happen events. But why did God give Samuel such a specific series of things to prophecy? And what does this mean for us today?
In 1 Samuel 9, we meet a young man named Saul. Plenty has been said about this Israelite, but in this episode, we take a fresh look at him. What's so special about this man? What did he think about himself? And what does this have to do with us? You might care very much about being important in this world. But there is only one person you need to be important to. That's what Saul learns for himself.
1 Samuel Part 15. Israel breaks God's covenant by asking for an earthly king. God is willing to grant their request, but let's them know just how much they'll suffer under a monarchy. Samuel is forced to give them the bad news, but how they respond reveals their true motives--and our own.
1 Samuel series, part 14. Samuel is old and he's appointed his sons as judges over the nation. But they are nothing like their father, triggering a response from Israel the prophet is not expecting. This signals a major shift in the nation's future--and reveals a new part of God's unfolding plan.
1 Samuel Part 13. God is bringing the people to a place of repentance and faith. But just as it happens, their enemies strike. This time, however, Israel responds the right way and God does something amazing. We finish chapter seven of the book of 1 Samuel and learn just what kind of judge the man was.
1 Samuel Part 12. Israel is finally recognizing their dire fate before the Lord. But are they going to do what is necessary to restore their relationship with God? Now is the time for the word of the Lord to bring back the people from their sins. Now is the time for Samuel, judge of Israel.

1 Samuel Series Part 11. Last episode, we saw how the Philistines responded to God’s chastening for stealing the ark. In this episode, we will discover what happens when the ark of God reaches Israel territory. Despite its return to the land, the Israelites show us, once again, that they are lacking in integrity and knowledge of the law.
1 Samuel Part 10. We are continuing through the story of 1 Samuel. God has hammered the Philistines for stealing the Ark of the Covenant. The lords of the Philistines consult their pagan diviners for guidance. What will they do to end God's wrath--and what does it say about what's in their hearts?
