The dark history of medical experimentation on black americans from colonial times to the present times is the focus on the book Medical Apartheid by Harriet Washington. It's a great book to read regardless of your race to understand the history of blacks and medicine. Although, this book doesn't capture all the positive experiences as well, it does explain the vast spectrum of treatment.
