Figurative artist and commercial muralist Taylor White has literally made her mark on her hometown in Raleigh, NC. Her many projects include two public-facing Augmented Reality murals. The first was a partnership with Google Fiber and is one of the largest AR murals in the world. The second is a tribute to the future of gaming and esports in Raleigh.
Taylor’s vibrantly colored murals are also displayed across the country and around the globe in Melbourne, Berlin, LA, Miami, Atlanta, Chicago, and Detroit.
She funded and produced her own solo exhibition called, "Pursuit of Happiness” which she says “ … creates a visual vocabulary to communicate the interruption of our spiritual wholeness of being with endless digital entertainment and nonsense information.”
Educated at the Savannah College of Art and Design, Taylor completed her BFA in Illustration in 2007. When asked about her passion for art, she wrote, “It's just that it's my calling to make it and because people respond so profoundly to it, I feel responsible for continuing to explore it.”
Taylor shares how she survived an accident while vacationing in Iceland, only two months prior to recording this episode. She was still recovering and had a long way to go when we talked. As you can imagine, her perspective on life, family, career, and what is truly important has shifted since before the accident.

**The day I was given Dixie Mehrens' business card for AIP Certified Health Coaching was a day of relief for me and a huge answer to prayers! I was drowning in all my research about Hashimoto's disease and the AIP diet. I had no idea what step to take next, and I knew I needed help. Booking a consult call with Dixie gave me hope! Last year, I had decided that I wanted to write my own story, and I encouraged you to be in control of the narrative of your own story and your year instead of just letting life happen to you all willy-nilly.
I'm talking about writing it in the sense that you are intentional about what you want, where you want to go, who you want to meet, how you want to live, what outcomes you want to see manifested in your life.
Some of the events in my story were circumstances that I did not anticipate and did not ask for. But, I intentionally made decisions in order to turn the narrative in a different direction than it would have gone had I accepted defeat and dwelled on the negative.

We've been blessed with ONE body in this world, and taking care of it is our responsibility. Finding the right doctor and doing research for yourself is time consuming, and more times than not, frustrating. However, I urge you to keep at it if you're not finding answers as to why you feel the way you do.
Dig deeper, research, ask around. Find out what tests mean, what tests can be done with lab work, and how to decipher the information. You've got to be your own advocate!

In this episode, you’ll meet my history-buff friend and former co-worker, Rob Miles. This guy is proof that it’s never too late to go back to school or to change careers!
Immediately after high school, he served for 26 years in the military and completed his BA in history before retiring—but he didn’t stop there!
He went on to teach middle school and high school, acquiring his alternative teacher certification through Troops to Teachers and mentoring for that program for several years.
While teaching, Rob earned his M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, with emphasis on Adolescent Literacy and eLearning/Technology.
Currently, he’s using that degree to help teachers integrate technology into their classrooms by working diligently with both students and teachers. He talks about the challenges of navigating virtual and blended learning during the pandemic.
Oh, and another cool story: Rob tells about his visit to a school district in Odawara, Japan and spending time with some of the students and teachers there.

Meet college student, Katie Wynn!
With a heart for volunteerism, Katie is on track for a Bachelors in Public Relations and a minor in Non-Profit Studies. She believes God gave her a mouth for a reason, and she intends to use it to empower others to stand up for their beliefs.
She talks about how different this college year has been due to the pandemic, and how she has turned it into a time for positive reflection for her life. She encourages other students to not shut down even though this year is particularly hard.

When a doctor casually tells Kristie McDougal and her husband that their unborn child has a rare disorder, Kristie is terrified. The only "plan" is to wait and see what will happen once he's born.
Thankfully, her faith and her professional knowledge as a social worker at a children's hospital gives her the resources necessary to navigate the unknown.
Through all of the obstacles, she keeps her sense of humor and teaches her children to reach out to others with love, kindness, and acceptance. She also advises us to "sit and enjoy the now."
