To address these challenges, the Biden administration has taken several steps to advance pay equity and fairness for workers.
For example, President Biden signed an executive order to promote pay transparency and eliminate pay disparities in the federal workforce and among federal contractors. He also signed a law to provide new protections for pregnant and nursing workers.
- Additionally, he has urged Congress to pass the Paycheck Fairness Act, a bill that would strengthen the enforcement of the Equal Pay Act of 1963 and provide more tools for workers to fight pay discrimination.

In particular, a Senator who seeks recognition usually has a right to the floor if no other Senator is speaking, and then that Senator may speak for as long as he or she wishes. Also, there is no motion by which a simple majority of the Senate can stop a debate and allow itself to vote in favor of an amendment, a bill or resolution, or most other debatable questions. Most bills, indeed, are potentially subject to at least two filibusters before the Senate votes on final passage: first, a filibuster on a motion to proceed to the bill’s consideration and, second, after the Senate agrees to this motion, a filibuster on the bill itself.

If you are voting for the first time in your state and are registering by mail, Federal Law may require you to show proof of identification the first time you vote. This proof of identification includes the following (or if voting by mail, a COPY of the following):
A current and valid photo identification; OR
A current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or government document that shows your name and address.
