The hip-hop activist known as DJ EFN has been widely acknowledged as “Miami’s mixtape king” for the last ten years and more. And while he’s certainly earned that title, a comprehensive appreciation of EFN’s work as a hip-hop entrepreneur might persuade you that it makes more sense to consider him as “Miami’s answer to Russell Simmons.” Not yet 40 years old, E is now marking his 20th anniversary in the game, a career that’s seen him distinguish himself as a club and radio deejay, street promoter, artist manager, label executive, record producer, record pool founder, fashion retailer, and film producer.
Most of these activities have been conducted under the Crazy Hood brand. “When I was getting started in the early Nineties, the uniform for a hip-hop kid was a hoodie,” E explains. “The crazy part has to do with me. I was a teenager then and, like many teenagers, I felt a bit out of my mind. Luckily, I had a loving single mother and decided to put my energy into the arts, where I could express my frustrations without hurting anyone.”
E’s particular mission has been to represent a strain of gritty local hip-hop music that has more in common with New York rap than with the party music for which Miami is best known. He thinks of his turf as Miami’s “underground” hip-hop scene. In an interview with Julia Beverly for Ozone magazine in 2005, the rapper Garcia, who records for EFN’s Crazy Hood label, could have been speaking for E when he said, “South Beach is just a tourist town, with frozen drinks and girls with fake boobs and everybody wants to be famous. It’s a fun place to party and a good place to break a record, but it’s not Miami. That’s like going to Cancun and saying you’ve been to Mexico.”
But if DJ EFN doesn’t want to be lumped in with the hip-hoppers of Miami Beach, he’s also not a wanna-be New Yorker. Indeed, when E made his first mixtape, in 1993, he did so, he says, “because I was really pissed off that there was no consistent mixtape dj in Miami, no one who ever really played the music from Miami. Everybody listened to DJ Clue or Tony Touch. It was good music, but I didn’t want to hear shouts to Brooklyn or the Bronx. I wanted to shout out Miami and help to put on the local cats.”
The part of Miami that EFN calls home is Kendall, the unincorporated community in Miami-Dade County where he grew up and continues to reside. It numbers about 75,000 souls, the majority of whom speak Spanish as a first language. These include many Cubans, of course, but also significant numbers of Colombians, Nicaraguans, Peruvians, and Venezuelans. “My mother moved us to Kendall from Los Angeles in 1986, following my father, who had moved here ahead of us,” recalls E.
E released his first Crazy Hood mixtape the year he graduated from high school, during a period he remembers as “a golden age for local b-boys and b-girls” that has somehow been “left out of the history books and denied its proper recognition.” Over the next two decades he produced 42 volumes of the mixtape, featuring not only Miami-based artists, but such national stars as Outkast, Redman, Capone-N-Noreaga, KRS-One, Wu-Tang, Ja Rule, Sean Paul, Joe Budden, Lil Jon, Ghostface Killa, Bun B, Keith Murray, and David Banner. Ever inclined to support the international brotherhood of hip-hop djs, both locally and globally, E founded Miami’s Crazy Sounds Record Pool in 1997 (it enjoyed a ten-year run) and Hood DJs, a global coalition.
Formal recognition of the importance of this work first occurred in 2002, when EFN was named the Best New Mixtape DJ at the 7th Annual Justo Awards. The following year he was named Best Mixtape DJ at First Annual Miami Urban Music Awards.
The effectiveness of E’s street promo for his Crazy Hood mixtapes eventually attracted the attention of various national brands on the lookout for some help with their products in the Miami market. Over the years, C.H.P. Marketing and Promotions has counted Tommy Boy, Slip-N-Slide, Loud Records, Epic, Coca-Cola...

A Colombian New Yorkina, residing in south florida, Galeano has been exposed to quite some music. Growing up on the likes of Grupo Fania, Niche, Frankie Ruiz, to ABBA, The Beatles, Camilo Sesto, Rocio Dúrcal. Then later growing into the early teens with Hip Hop. Listening to Nas, a tribe called quest, biggie, bone thugs, jigga, mc lyte, Queen latifah, Lil Kim and many more. Music became a world to get lost in, and immediately became a haven for her mind. I had the honor to sit and check with Miami's own and soon to be a legendary Dj out here Mr. Hey Now himself Dj LuckyC. We had a deep conversation about his life and how he started dancing and becoming a rapper before becoming one of the most well known Dj's. We also talked about his experiences living in D.C for high school, going to Barry University and studying Criminology, progressing as a DJ and more!! DJ Lucky C or simply "Lucky" is known for his versatility in spinning and hosting various events as well being very business oriented. Over the years, he has honed his craft by working various events from baby showers, kid parties to hip-hop clubs and gentleman's clubs.
After working closely with other DJ coalitions early in his career, (Jam Squad DJs and the Core DJs), DJ Lucky C wanted to expand and start his own coalition/company. By partnering with his younger cousin and budding rap artist "Doe", the pair formed the "GroundWork Boyz" in 2013.
Now with over ten (10) years experience and the desire to learn new skills, Lucky began to study radio personalities and mix show DJs in 2013. This led to the creation of an online radio broadcast that allowed Lucky to connect with people from all over the world. While working on the online radio broadcasts, Lucky also began to broaden his horizons by working closely with various clothing brands such as "8&9", "Pursuit of Happiness", "Bakery Gang" and "Kri8ed Clothing". By working with these brands, Lucky was able to use his passion for music and connect these companies and followers on social media.
After successfully doing online broadcasts for about a year and a half, Lucky began to focus on a new venture; a mixtape series entitled "GroundWork Season". This 7 volume series was released in a two-month span beginning November 19, 2015 and concluding on November 19, 2016. Over the course of the year, DJ Lucky C bridged a gap in the Miami music scene by using various online music outlets and having hard copy CDs in the streets.
By September 2016, Lucky was given the opportunity to guest DJ on 99Jamz for the Labor Day Mixshow Weekend. Lucky was offered and accepted a position with the station by November 2016 and immediately went to work. Over the course of a year, DJ Lucky C has grown from "mix show DJ" to learning how to operate the radio equipment and developing an on-air personality. By utilizing the various skills he has learned over the years, DJ Lucky C is poised to elevate to the next plateau under the guidance of the 99Jamz family.

At the tender age of 6 years old, Ashaunte began playing all kinds of sports, from Tae Kwon Do to Rugby. Following her self-made philosophy, she was able to become a 2 time Rugby Collegiate All American at only 23 years of age. Ashaunte is a first-generation college graduate from Florida International University, earning a bachelors in Psychology. In 2015 Ashaunte founded and is now the CEO of Grind2DaGreen Co. Currently, she is enrolled in the National Academy of Sports Medicine program and is earning certifications in personal training and performance enhancement.

Jessica “Jekasole” Camacho is a local Hip-hop artist born and raised in Miami, FL. At the age of 12, Jessica started dabbling with poetry but never took it seriously. Being around her older cousins who wrote music themselves they pushed & encouraged Jessica to discover her hidden artistic talents. An at the age of 18 is when Jessica started to take the music industry a lot more serious.
September 30, 2017, Jekasole released her first official production entitled “Bare a New Name”
The name is in reference to the Bible verse Revelation 2:17
“The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers, I will give him some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and on that stone will be written a new name that no one can understand except the one who receives it.’”
This project is basically to give you an insight on Jekasole’s Journey from where she used to be then and where she is now. Although she isn’t where she would like to be now. She has realized that she is no longer whom she used to be hence the title “Bare A New Name “
Jessica's sole mission is trying to move the world by keeping the truth within her lyrics with real-life encounters that she has faced before and even within her walk of faith. Jekasole mission is to share hope with every note and let the world know it has a name and it’s Jesus Christ.
