In this special Halloween podcast Charlie and I visit each of his family's favorite Halloween kick-off films. Starting with his mom (Winifred's) favorite Hocus Pocus (1993) then onto his stepdad (Woodstock's) favorite It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966). Charlie is right in the middle with The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993). Finally, my favorite The Halloween Tree (1993) and then his dad (Holloway's) favorite pick Something Wicked This Way Comes (1993). Something I didn't realize was that 1993 was a FANTASTIC year for kids horror. I'm going to have to revisit that year. Enjoy the show, Happy Halloween, and safe tricks and treats!!!!

Charlie is still a little too young to appreciate all that The Addams Family has to offer, but he was enthralled with the house and Thing and that's pretty okay with me. Although, now I think he wants his own Lurch, and I'm just not in the market for an undead butler. The Addams Family gets a 5 out of 5 Things up for enjoyment and a 2 out of 5 scare bears.

Finding creepy books for kids to read isn't as hard as you might think. When I was younger, I devoured all of the RL Stine books. Charlie isn't quite ready for Fear Street, but I think he's ready for Goosebumps. But, before I start hunting down collections of my favorites, we started something neither of us have read before. The Adventures of the Bailey Elementary School Kids series from Scholastic. Here's our review of book #1.

In this SPECIAL MUNSTER episode Charlie, Jake, Elwood, and I review The Witches (1990). One of my all time favorites from when I was just slightly older than Charlie is now. This movie is older than all three of these kiddos combined, and it stands the test of time and age because they all loved it! Entertainment score: 5 out 5 and scary score: 3 out of 5.

Somehow, as a kid, I missed out on The Worst Witch. So, what better time than now to experience it with my kid. This adaptation is a British television series. The first and second episode were released as a one hour premier episode and that's all that we discuss here. Charlie has said we'll be watching more, though.

This is the very first episode of This Little Munster. It was a test run to see if Charlie, then 6 years old, would enjoy talking about his introduction into horror with me, Bella, then 36 years old, who was probably introduced to horror way too young. Eerie Elementary is a Scholastic Branches book series by Jack Chabert and Sam Ricks; it was the first chapter book that got Charlie interested in reading on his own everywhere we went. He still loves them, and so do I.
