“Why should I go with you over the other guys?”

It’s a question our sales team gets from time to time, and we understand why. There’s no shortage of outdoor contractors in the greater St. Louis region. With many of them saying the same things in their marketing, you may start to wonder if there’s anything that sets any of us apart.

There is.

In this article, we’ll share some key characteristics that make Easter different from the competition and give you a glimpse at how these differences show up in the work we do to beautify backyards (and front yards, too!) in the communities we serve.

1: We Offer the Easter Family GuaranteeThe Easter Family Guarantee clearly states:

“Even if it is the first job Dad did in 1957, if we didn’t do it right or didn’t do what we said, we’ll fix it for free.”

We have incredibly high standards when choosing installers. As a result, our installers are great at what they do- really great. Because of that, most of our projects end perfectly and without errors. But even the best installers (and remember, that’s the kind we hire) sometimes make mistakes. On the slight chance that we don’t do something right in the installation process, we promise to come back and fix it promptly and at our own expense.

2: We Put People Before ProfitWe’re not a fly-by-night operation. We put our family name on every single project we complete. We’ve been a trusted partner of St. Louis area homeowners and businesses for nearly seventy years. We’ve seen scores of contractors in our space come and go because they prioritized profits ahead of people. What Walter (Charlie) Easter knew, and passed down generation to generation, is that if you do right by your customers, vendors, and employees, the bottom line takes care of itself.

3: We are a Local Family-Owned BusinessWe are a family-owned business – now in our third generation – that is very active in our community. We’re the second oldest fence contractor in the St. Louis region and we’ve been headquartered in South St. Louis County since the 1970s. When you work with Easter Fence, Deck, and Renovations, you’re working with a company that invests its profits back into the community. We take pride in our heritage and each new generation bears the responsibility of living up to the Easter name and reputation.

4: We’re Not Going AnywhereWhile our history is impressive, we’re collectively more focused on our future. We are in our 3rd generation of Easter family members and we have a documented succession plan in place. While other contractors’ warranties die with the owner, you can be certain Easter Fence, Deck, and Renovations will be here to honor our warranties and serve you with consistently high-quality work for generations to come.

5: We Are Honest and Upfront with CustomersWe believe that honesty is the best policy in everything we do. Our sales professionals don’t like surprises any more than you do. So, they’re upfront and honest about all the information applicable to your project. Where some in our industry lean on false discounts and dishonest sales pitches, we are committed to providing all customers with a straightforward and fair proposal, gimmick free.

6: You Know You’re Getting High Quality MaterialsSome fence contractors will pretend this isn’t true, but there’s not a lot of difference in the materials used by most fence companies. Most of us are using high-quality products from respected manufacturers. For fence installations, it comes down to customer service and quality craftsmanship, two things we do extremely well. But what sets us even further apart from other fence contractors in our area is we also offer high-quality fencing material as a retail supplier. So if you are a DIYer or another contractor, Easter can be your one-stop shop for all the materials you need to complete your project.

Decking is different, specifically when you’re talking about composite deck boards and handrails. There’s in fact a wide spectrum of products on the market today. There are certain characteristics you want to be aware of to ensure you’ll have a deck that can hold up to the wide variety of weather our region will throw at it and continue to perform for years to come.

Easter only uses only the highest quality decking materials from the industry’s most reputable manufacturers. It’s not the cheapest, but we prioritize solid core composite decking boards with high standards for resistance against heat, slipping, and expansion/contraction effects. When in doubt, ask to see a sample!

Let Our Family Serve Your FamilyYour home should be your oasis. It’s the backdrop where family memories are made that will last a lifetime. When you work with Easter, you are working with a company that knows it’s not just a fence, deck, or sunroom we’re installing; we’re building a stage for the little outdoor moments your family will cherish forever. We look forward to the opportunity to serve you soon.

Are you looking to blend into your neighborhood or stand out? Either way, the Easter team can help. This is the story of how we helped one client achieve the WOW factor in his yard with a unique and eye-catching fence.

The SituationChris and his wife were ready to build a fence at their home, but they wanted something different—something that would make their property stand out with elegance and beauty. When customers approach us with a unique need, our team embraces the opportunity to find and deliver a creative solution. Many people don’t realize just how many options are out there. We spent several months with the customers going over the wide variety of different material and color options available until they settled on a product we were all confident would deliver the aesthetic they were looking for.

The SolutionThe product our customers chose was not one we were incredibly familiar with. We work with a roster of go-to manufacturers for wood and vinyl fencing in standard colors, but this was a really unique material and color.

The product was a 6’ tall privacy fence, rotationally molded from real wood and stone. This allows for a realistic granite-stone appearance and dramatic wood texture. It’s constructed with a proprietary blend of polyethylene plastic and reinforced with galvanized steel. This internal reinforcement allows the fence to withstand significant impact or wind load without compromising aesthetics. The fence also blocks 98% direct sound, is virtually maintenance-free, and never has to be painted or stained. UV inhibitors protect against the sun’s harsh rays to maintain vibrant colors and the polymer have been tested to withstand extreme weather conditions with little or no fading. Better yet, the graffiti-resistant surface makes removing graffiti simple with the use of a power washer.

We brought in a representative from the manufacturer for a meeting with our customers, as well as the Easter sales pro and project manager. Company president, Chuck Easter, even participated in many of the discussions about the project. Once the customers’ questions were answered, we set a date for installation.

The ResultsAfter installation, the customers were very happy with the decision they made and the work the Easter team had done. But through our personal quality assurance check, we noticed a couple of things we weren’t quite satisfied with. While the customer didn’t point out any flaws, we scheduled a time to come back at no additional charge to make a few alterations and bring the fence up to our expected quality of excellence. It’s always worth it for us to go the second mile and ensure we don’t settle until we’re perfectly satisfied with our work.

In the end, as the pictures show, our customers got exactly what they were looking for: a fence that doubles as an elegant showpiece in their yard, built to last and impress by the Easter Fence team of professionals.

Many homeowners have decks on the back of their house. Decks are nice. In fact, we build a lot of them for customers. But they do come with their limitations. A sunroom provides everything you want from a deck, while expanding your living space and providing you the perfect R&R destination 365 days a year.

This is the story of how we helped one customer maximize his outdoor enjoyment with not one, but two sunroom additions in his backyard.

The SituationWe were contacted by a potential customer who needed help. He had a beautiful in-ground pool off the back of his house- the perfect area for entertaining guests in the hot summer months. However, there was nothing entertaining about his existing sunporch. It was in an advanced state of disrepair, and had gotten so bad that he had to duck just to get out to his pool area. We consulted with him and provided a bid to build him an exquisite new sunroom, which would double as a new walkout space to his backyard oasis and a basement workout room. Our owner Chuck Easter even met with the customer in his home to talk through his questions and reassure him of the quality of our craftsmanship and our attention to detail.

After receiving our bid, he visited the showroom of another local contractor. We got the call as he was leaving their showroom that he felt our material quality and exceptional service was far superior, so he had made the decision to hire Betterliving® Sunrooms and Awnings of St. Louis, an Easter Quality Company.

The SolutionCustomers frequently overestimate the size of the sunroom they need. At Easter, we take the time to get to know what they’re looking for and how they plan to use the space. Based on that, we’re often able to provide revised dimension suggestions that end up saving them time and money, while still delivering exactly what they’re looking for.

This particular customer was also concerned that the new sunroom would not match the outdoor aesthetic of his existing home. After many years in the outdoor renovations business, we understand that concern. When aiming to expand and beautify your living space, the last thing you want to create is an eye sore. That’s why we offer sunroom additions in the customer’s choice of three different colors: white, sandstone, and earth stone. We’ve found that between these three different options, we are able to provide a close match to the three basic window trim colors most homeowners have.

Another factor we needed to account for with this project was that it called for a gabled roof with gable end windows to allow for maximum sunlight. But gabled glass cannot be ordered until the structure is completely framed up exact measurements can be assessed. Our team created a temporary solution to fill the window hole while the customer waited for his gable end windows to be delivered. This meant we could finish out the rest of the sunroom and they could begin enjoying it immediately, even before all of the windows were in place.

The ResultsBy the time the first sunroom was complete, our customer was very impressed. The quality of materials and craftsmanship, the exceptional service, and the end result of their basement sunroom project all combined to lead the customer to a logical question- why have one sunroom when I can enjoy two?

The customer decided to add an elevated sunroom off of his main floor kitchen as well. Today, he has it all – a beautiful workout room with a walkout to his in-ground pool AND an expanded indoor living space with his main level sunroom addition.

Whether it’s a fence, deck, sunroom, or other outdoor living renovation, Easter is here to help create the perfect outdoor space for you and your family’s lifestyle. If you’ve ever considered adding a sunroom or if you’re just looking for a creative solution to expand your living space, you owe it to yourself to start the conversation with Betterliving® Sunrooms and Awnings of St. Louis, an Easter Quality Company.
