We pray that through reading Paul's letter our church would grow bold in the Gospel to see salvation, change, and unity through the power of Jesus.

How can you put off legalism/mysticism and BEHOLD the goodness of Jesus in the season you're in?

Worship is a practice that goes beyond our singing on Sundays. Every season is an opportunity to see God is as bigger and better than our enemies and idols. Paul equips us in Colossians 2 to be rooted in our worship that we would not be swayed by “cunning philosophies” of mysticism or “shallow religion” of legalism but rather built up in Jesus.

It’s common that married couples get more out of marital counseling than pre-marital counseling. After the tux is returned and the dress is in the closet the true covenant lived out and either established or deteriorates. As he listens to Abram learns the covenant he has cut with Yahweh is deeper, wider, and longer than he first knew.

What have been the biggest moves in your life? What have been the effects of your leaving homes, jobs, and relationships? God's plan to redeem the world through Abram begins with a call from him to move from his homeland. God calls Abram to leave not only the bad parts of his past but the good parts as well: his country, his people, his family. Moving forward Abram is given a vague but powerful picture of what his life will be with God. This is enough for Abraham to trust and follow. Is this enough for you?

As humans, we are all builders by nature. As kids, we build legos and forts, and as we grow we continue to build our homes, careers, communities, churches, businesses and beyond. Genesis 11 presents a moment when humans built a tower to ‘reach the heavens’ and ‘make a great name for themselves’. In response, God interrupts their plans by scattering them and installing diverse languages in the nations. Have your plans ever been interrupted by God? In this passage, we reflect on the things we build and listen for what God may be calling us to build in light of the finished work of Jesus.

The story of the flood is a tipping point moment of the curse. The violence, evil, and corruption in God's world have become so great that a flood is sent to revert the creation to the waters of the deep.

How will God rescue and redeem His good world gone bad? The story of Noah and the flood is written without dialogue and from Noah's point of view to invite us into his story. Like Enoch, Noah finds grace with God and walks with Him. Noah's faith in Genesis6-8 reveals to us God's rescue plan for humanity. How can we find grace in our time of need? How can we find salvation in the chaos-waters of life?

Oliver Wong At CITYLIGHTS we see a disciple as someone following Jesus to look like Him. From the beginning, God created man in His image: to agree in perfect intimacy, identity and authority with their Creator. Tragically, this creation became utterly shattered by man's sin. Jesus primary message: the Kingdom of Heaven is near was not just an invitation to go to Heaven when we die but to return to shared intimacy, identity, and authority of the garden. ‘Follow me’ was not just an invitation to be close to Jesus but to restored to look like God. In this message we answer and important question: what does it mean to follow Jesus to look like Him? Through study and reflection of the Scriptures, our prayer and plan at CITYLIGHTS is not just to know Jesus but look like Him in every part of our life.

Oliver Wong || Matthew 28 On Father’s day, we wrapped up our series in Matthew, Covered in Dust. The life of Jesus challenges every part of our life as a disciple with His final words: go make disciples. In this message, we discuss five practical ways to live out our calling to make disciples that make disciples today: Come and See, Come and Be, Come and Know/Do, Come and Die, Go and Make.

Oliver Wong || Matthew 25 Jesus teaches his disciples that Heaven will be like a wedding. Because of sin, the world is divorced from Heaven but the Holy Spirit today is calling all people back to God.

In this parable, Jesus teaches about the gift we bring God at the Great Wedding. A master leaves gold for his servants to invest but one of them fearfully hides his portion in the ground.

What has God entrusted to you? If you trusted that Kingdom investment was always multiplied how would you invest in the Kingdom today?
