This is a pretty substantial revision of an earlier piece. It's kind of a hybrid of different classical structures.

This is a revision of my older work. First, I tinkered with it, then I used Note Performer 3 for playback and tinkered with it some more. I think it sounds much better now.

I'm not a lyricist and, accordingly, these words took way longer to compose than the piece itself. It is my hope, however, that they accurately reflect the sentiment of the music. The lyrics loosely refer to the story of the painting shown here, Waterhouse's The Lady of Shallot.

Young maiden's sorrow. A chance for Love was what she yearned. Now it's gone... Gone forever. Her sweet Regard was not returned. Now it's gone. Love's gone forever. Her true Regard was not returned.

One's life is fleeting. A Rising Heart yields to the Pall. Then it's gone... Gone forever. Don't deny what must befall. Once it's gone, it's gone forever. Your life's deeds speak all to All.

I imagine a dark figure quietly entering a house and going into the living room late at night. Tonight's "activities" have not gone well. He is still hungry but that will have to wait. There isn't enough time left. Instead, he sits at the piano with his head bowed. Softly, the strings start the introduction from out of the cool, night air... He waits to begin playing. Afterwards, he decides to lie down and sleep the day away and his last thought before sleep, which, for him, is like death, is, "Tonight, tonight, tonight..."
