Next minute, a wild @tuggspeedman-dj rides in on a funky gust of wind to take control of the wheel. One of the selection experts to come out of Mancuso Discotheque, you know you're in for a ride. What follows is 2 hours of downtempo, disco, funk, nu disco, house edits and breaks from across the groovy spectrum. Never exceeding 116bpm is officially part of his rider now, giving pause and creating opportunities for both human and frequencies to breathe and experience. Back in March we had the pleasure of playing at the institution that is Musicroom Melbourne. Such a beautiful space that felt like home as soon as you step inside. First mix off the press from the April event comes from the opening DJ Öncüm Yılmaz. March 8th we got back to the Lord Gladstone courtyard for a lovely evening of tunes. This set was the opening set, recorded from 6-8pm, sun setting, quiet drinks, catch ups with friends, lots of smiles and cheer in the air at the end of the working week. I played this set with heavy influence from Osunlade and Ron Trent who I'd seen play the weekend before, mixed with some Australiana and spiritual messages about the state of humankind with everything going on in the world. We know she's been going from strength to strength, playing more and more high profile gigs, whether it's an all vinyl warm up for Ezra Collective at the City Recital Hall, or her sets at Lost Paradise, to sweaty basement jams. This mix is peak mid-time perfection, plenty of low key bangers, lots of leftfield gems all served up with a healthy dollop of nostalgia. One night, 2 belated Birthdays, a decommissioned train tunnel, incredible production and a giant disco ball honestly made for one of the best parties I've been to in a long time. You may think me bias because I was Djing most of it but ask anyone who attended and they will tell you the same thing. Everything aligned perfectly for immaculate vibes the entire night. I was fortunate enough to be invited to contribute 4 hours of music for the night with my long term, very good friend @gilsun and the outcome was magical. Truly a new core memory.Unfortunately we were only able to salvage the last 1h45m of the set recording but it captures the high of the night perfectly.A huge thank you to Sandra and Pat for putting this incredible event on, it won't be forgotten any time soon!
Rubio (me) got down on June 3rd on duties to warm up to AHJU. Big eclectic tension building vibes throughout, slowly building the energy into a crescendo. In early September we were blessed to host Sofia Gonzalez for a 2h set in the main bar of The Lord Gladstone. It was a glorious ride through all the colours in the techno spectrum. Seamlessly rolling through sounds and textures, light and dark, dense and fluffy. It was a gorgeous set and we're thrilled to be able to share it with you here.

Lachy MacNeill doesn't get out to play very often but when he does you really hope to be there. Ex full time Falcona DJ turned Buzz speaker hire facilitator is an absolute secret weapon and we're thrilled to have had him roll through to showcase his skills. This last outing was quite a set, weaving between soo many different styles and tempos like an old hand. It was an absolute treat.

Akul, Akul, Akul... Who's Akul...? Asks nobody in Sydney or most of Europe by now. This dude is taking over! We're so here for it. From his almost viral free releases of edits of Gimme Da Weed, and the Round The Twist theme, to a solid back catalogue of tunes on the much respected Extra Spicy and Finespun labels, known for their incredible production quality, Akul is fast becoming a star in the worldwide UKG scene. We couldn't be happier to have brought Akul on board for the July party. We set him a task of combining his 2 loves over the course of two hours. Play some UKG, finish on Jungle. Tragedy struck at the 11th hour on the 2nd of July. Trusty Cosmic Boogie Co-Pilot Tom Penny was struck down with Covid the morning of the event causing him to miss the event 😓. Rubio had to hold the fort down for the 4h opening slot. What ensued was a lovely mix of downtempo, street soul, oddities, lush warm vibes, and a good feeling in the belly. You may not have heard of Shake Daddy before the party in July, for those of you who were there at least, she's the new kid on the block. This multi hyphenated talent has recently moved from Naarm, right at the start of Covid (unfortunate), and she certainly knows how to bring the house down. Rave reviews flying all evening! Shake daddy is most definitely one to look out for in Eora’s party scene.

At our May edition of Cosmic Boogie we invited the one and only Monako (head honcho of Big Ting) to get down and play a set that we knew only he could. The brief was, take us from where we are now to jungle please.

This has been a belter year of ups and downs in terms of what we can and can't do... with restrictions easing and lifting, it looked like things were going to be promising for the summer but COVID took care of that pretty quickly. A graduate from the first generation of FBi’s Dance Class program in 2015, she’s produced FBi’s Spin the Bottle program and is a member of Sydney record label Post Pluto. ~Skitz Ellie~ draws from a range of musical influences and experiences behind the decks from Sydney doofs & warehouses to the clubs of Tokyo.
Coming through with the probably the most forward thinking and eclectic mix we've seen thus far, Lazy Suzan takes the listener through a swirling, intergalactic journey of experimental electronica ranging from atmospheric soundscapes and hypnotic arpeggios to pulsating techno and broken beat energetic explosions. A collage of sounds that is as welcome in a meditative state in your headphones or early hours at a doof kicking dust through the laser beams, and in either context an all-consuming escape from the dreary normality that life can be. We've been blessed with a featured guest mix from local purveyor of massive bass weight, Alchemist. Her musical journey is rooted in a South London upbringing, exposed to a veritable feast of influences stemming from her Mauritian and French heritage combined with the gritty sounds birthed from the streets and clubs of London itself. Since relocating and making a home in Sydney she has continued a creative path as a singer, performer and producer. Most recently honing her skills behind the decks, tearing up parties from the likes of Dungeon, VOID, Riot, RPK as well as Regrowth, Dragon Dreaming festivals, proving herself ready and willing to bring a sound system to life with big bass weight and frantic, precise mixing in any situation you might land a sub on.
This guest mix coincides with her debut release "Pleasure State" via bandcamp (link below) and also with the upcoming event VOID @ Tokyo Sing Song (Newtown) Friday 6th April.
Playing alongside Alchemist at VOID is our very own Swerve bass stalwart, BEANS! Welcome to the second-helping of Swerve in it's new format!!
This time round we've got an absolute FIRE mix from our own stablemate Nait Sands aka Tom Penny! The Majestic Bogan Raver has been a stalwart of the Swerve crew since it's inception in 2013 and it's humble beginnings as just a few mates spinning tunes on a Saturday afternoon on Bondi Beach Radio as a pre-drinking warm up dance session for the weekend. As members came and went, inspiration peaked and waned, seasons warmed and cooled, there was only one constant, the one and only Tom Penny.
The glue that holds the Swerve family together, the musical and spiritual heart of our collective has been honing his skills and building a gigantic library and knowledge of underground dance music for many years now, playing regular gigs and festivals around Sydney alongside his radio duties, holding down a monthly residency alongside Cosmo Jones as "Cosmic Boogie" at Cafe Lounge which has become a cult classic night for house and disco table top dancing, this is a DJ on the verge of being recognised for the incredible talent he is.
Tom Penny in this feature mix brings for you an eclectic mix, seamlessly swerving through Balearic vibes, broken beats and acid workouts, showcasing his impeccable taste and mixing; always with the dance floor firmly at the forefront of his mind.

This week we had local Swerve favourite somersault in for the subsonic take over. The man him self has come through a few times now and needs little introduction. We had a good chat about what he has coming up, what he is gonna be wearing and some other banter.
Here is a bit of info Somersault’s music is uncompromising. Heavily influenced by the shuffling rhythms of dark UK garage, atmospheric techno and deep melodic house, Somersault likes to straddle the line between the delirious highs and murky lows, a sound that’s brought his unique sets to outdoor festivals and underground clubs.
The young producer has come a long way from working as a funk guitarist to producing music played on international festival stages by Jon Convex. While his initial entry into electronic music was with electronica duo This Mess, Somersault came into being while travelling through Europe and immersing in the rich club culture in 2014. He is however, no newcomer to dance music having played at major Australian festivals Rabbits Eat Lettuce, Dragon Dreaming and Burning Seed as well as at major Sydney club nights S.A.S.H, Something Else, Blueprint, Foxlife and Cakes supporting PleasureKraft, Pepperpot, Simon Caldwell, Made In Paris, Politics of Dancing and Robbie Lowe.
Somersault's eagerly awaited Stampede EP is soon to be released on Upon Access, Sydney’s groundbreaking new label curated by Techno Heavyweight Made In Paris. The EP has been causing a stir in promo pools worldwide gaining praising support from Oliver Schories, Laurent Garnier, Marco Carola, Riva Starr, Sasse, Uone, Joe T Vannelli Steve Ward, Sossa, Joris Voorn, Horse Meat Disco, Marc Poppcke
In early 2016 Somersault released his most ambitious work: the four track concept ‘Ultramarine EP’ on Build It Records. The EP instantly entered the Beatport top 100 Deep House Chart and received over 40,000 plays on soundcloud within the first week of release. ‘Ultramarine’ covers much deeper, darker and groovier territory than the producer’s prior work.
2015 saw the release of three widely acclaimed EPs on US imprints Build It and Particles (Proton). His release ‘Devotion/Respect’ had over 15,000 plays on Soundcloud after only two days. ‘Space Is Big’, the producer’s most successful Particles release, has since been remixed by progressive house luminaries Alex O’Rion and Sebastian Weikum.
Somersault’s schedule is filling with two planned releases on Australia’s prolific Open Records and bookings at Bohemian Beatfreaks Festival, Squared Senses Festival, S.A.S.H, Foxlife and Something Else.
