When most people think of work life balance, they key in on the word balance. It simply cannot be and exact balance. Maybe someday you’ll get to an income level that doesn’t require you to work so much. That is very rare compared to most people. Many people will tell you that your job or profession shouldn’t be your identity anymore. That, there is more to who you are. They are right about that. On this week’s episode of the Leadership Lifestyle Podcast, I’ll tell you it’s just fine to identify with your work. No, employers do not “own” you, but whatever team you play for, you just play hard! Be a value to the operation. More importantly, learn to help yourself by understanding the Give=Get equation and how ordering a pizza can help you help yourself.

When you “clock out”, be a value to you. It’s never going to be a balance of time, but you can ensure you still take care of you personally. I’ll give you an easy way of understanding the difference so you can be a value to your team but also be present in the life you live.

Those words may be very hard to hear.  No one wants to think they can be replaced.  Maybe, you've been at the same company for 20 years or more and it's never happened to you.  For many of us, it's a very possible reality.  Even within your job, maybe you've been reassigned or didn't get that promotion you should have.  Or.....maybe you were replaced.  The feelings of anxiety, feelings of, "am I not good enough?" start to creep in.  Maybe it was just a vindictive boss that wanted you out of the way.  For whatever reason you've been replaced, there is only one question.  How do you move on? It's time to examine what truly happened and how you can move past it to become the person you wanted to be.  Stop thinking about being replaced, and start thinking about how you can be renewable.

Hard Leadership....you know....the drill instructor kind....is actually lazy leadership.  Don't get me wrong, there is a time and a place for very direct leadership.  Think about a fire department putting out a house fire.  You can't have a development meeting or a long term sales strategy to put out a fire.  How about an emergency room trauma patient?  Same thing.  What is really hard about leadership is developing soft skills.  That takes time, investment in people, and you as the leader, actually caring to know about your team.

Developing soft skills is not just the way of the future for leadership, it's needed right now.  The good news is, it really only takes a change of focus to start sharpening those soft skills.  It is harder it first, but the long term investment of positive return is undeniable.  Start small with the closest people around you and work from there.  Remember, at first, leadership is not about you, but later, it will be about you.

Every successful person you know or have learned about, wasn't.  No one just arrives and never fails or never makes a mistake.  You know what drives most failure?  People's constant behavior of not starting or giving up.  On this week's episode of the Leadership Lifestyle Podcast, we ask the question, Why Not You????   Why not?  Really! Once you realize that stages come in stages and growth is a process of eliminating what doesn't work (it's not actually that you're not good enough.....no....it's not that!) you can move forward and start achieving the things you want.

Don't you just wish everyone on your team would just do the things they are supposed to do?  I mean, how many times do you have to say it?  Didn't they understand the "clear" instructions you gave the whole team?  Pretty frustrating, isn't it?  These are some of the questions we'll answer on this week's episode of the Leadership Lifestyle Podcast.  You have two different objectives as a leader.  One, the team must work toward a higher, common result.  Second, each member of the team gets there differently.

Avoid lazy leadership.  As the US Post Office says, if it fits it ships. That might work for mailing products, but it doesn't work for leadership.  You can't just put everyone on your team in the same box.  You also can't box yourself into a corner with one style of leadership.  We'll give you an easy way to see how to approach the team with both a team and individual mindset.  It might sound like more work, but it actually becomes much more productive, sooner than you think.

Probably one of the most disruptive leadership issue teams have, is being led by the wrong level.  Meaning, what level is the leader on compared to the group of people they are leading?  In this week's episode of the Leadership Lifestyle Podcast, learn how being at the wrong level hurts the team.  It's certainly not an intentional thing, but when you don't see the connection, it really creates a drain of energy for your team.

There are 3 main focus levels of leadership: The Execution Level, the Bridge Level, and the Vision Level.  Not knowing where you are at as a leader and then working from the wrong level can hold you back from really achieving your goals.  When you are clear about what level you're on and then leading that way, well......if the sky is the limit….why are there footprints on the moon!

It sounds completely counterintuitive to not correct your team when things go wrong.  This is not about accountability.  This is about what happens every day and all day.  On this week's episode of the Leadership Lifestyle Podcast, listen in about what happens when you constantly lead through correction.  More importantly, learn how much more productive your team can be when you focus on the behaviors you actually want, not what you don't want.

We all know that is the way forward in our own lives that when we focus on good behaviors such as eating right and getting enough sleep, we feel better.  So why don't we do that for the people on our teams?  Too many managers want to control things and micromanage but that never leads to growth.  Take the 30-day challenge of simply focusing your team on the behaviors you want and watch how they gravitate to that, while at the same time, some of the bad behaviors start to disappear on their own.

Moving forward is easier after a win than it is after a loss.  However, the process is still the same.  On this week's episode of the Leadership Lifestyle Podcast, we'll share the process for continuously moving forward.  Yes, even after winning or achieving a goal, you can't just rest on that.  As the great Ben Franklin said, "some people die at 25, but aren't buried until they are 75."  It's not healthy to be stagnant regardless of winning or losing.

You need to understand that failure is a part of success.  Not one single person that has accomplished anything hasn't failed at something.  So don't make it personal.  Make it a process for consistently moving forward.  It really can be as simple as 2, Two Word Sentences to always propel you forward.

One of the most challenging aspects of Leadership is understanding why people do what they do.  I'm not talking about job titles.....I'm talking about how they act and interact with other people.  How member of your team responds to issues or job assignments.  More importantly, how do you behave in different situations or different job assignments.  As I've always said, the Leader's attitude is the thermostat for the team's culture.  "How" you are as a leader affects your entire team.

On this week's podcast episode of the Leadership Lifestyle Podcast, we go on a self-discovery journey to understand behaviors.  You don't need a psychology degree, but some understand about how you think, and your team thinks, can go a long way to getting everyone in the right roles, increase productivity and create a highly successful team culture.

We've all heard the expression, short term gain-long term pain.  That's what happens when teams are managed through fear like, hit these numbers or else.  It's also an incredibly lazy way to lead people. In fact, I wouldn't consider you a leader if this is what you do.  On this week's episode on the Leadership Lifestyle Podcast, I'll explain that your Culture level will determine your level of Execution.  Don't think that wow, I don't have the time or energy to create a strong Culture.  The reality is, creating the right Culture is actually more about a change in mindset before actually doing anything.

Sure, you can have some execution based on force or tough love or the old do it or I'll find someone who will.  You will win in the short term, but you won't build anything.  You won't build a team or create opportunities you didn't even know you had. The fact that you're listening to a podcast says you are not that kind of leader.  Take a short 24-minute journey into how you can drive Execution with a very strong Culture.

When you learn skills, you really don't unlearn them.  You might be as proficient as you once were, but you still have them.  So, does that mean you are stuck always doing the same thing?  When you're an auto mechanic, those are bankable skills but that doesn't mean you want to fix everyone's car in the neighborhood either.  On this week's episode of the Leadership Lifestyle Podcast, we talk about how Leadership is different.  No, you won't lead every little group you interact with, but you can contribute.  Leadership is a little bit different because it is behavioral.

You can't be two different people behaviorally or you are faking who you are at some point.  The gift of leadership is two-fold.  One, you create other leaders.  The second, is that you can help just about any group of people solve problems, grow together and achieve goals.  If you're an experienced Leader, you're probably helping groups of people other than your work teams, and you don't even realize it.  Once you do realize it, you can really be proactive in your ability to help others and continuously grow yourself.

In the age of the Great Resignation, you need to set your team up to win but also to want to stay.  On this week's episode of the Leadership Lifestyle Podcast, we share 4 ways to keep your team engaged, productive and wanting to be a part of your organization.  This is not about offering gimmicks, snacks or cool perks.  It's the day-to-day grind that challenges your team and some cases, breaks them up.

It's up to you as the Leader to set the stage of expectation, but what you focus on is the key to success.  You have a finite amount of time each week and each day.  What will you spend your time focusing on?  Continuously build on these 4 steps and your team will come alive and work together like never before.

Welcome to part 3 of designing the next season of your life.  On the week's episode of the Leadership Lifestyle Podcast, we circle back over the last 2 podcasts and focus in on how to pick the right vision for you.  It doesn't matter if it's a personal or professional vision, if it's something worth doing, you need to do it right.  What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?  That's a well recited quote.  The real question is......what would you attempt to do if you knew you COULD fail?  It's the risk that makes it special.

So, grab a pen and paper and get ready to write down what potential visions for you look like.  Then listen to this episode and ask, is this right vision for you?  When you've got that figured out, follow the plan in podcast episodes 55 and 56.  The best way to predict your future is to create it so........let's start creating!!!!

Welcome to Part 2 of creating the next season for you.  The best way to predict your future is to create it.  On this week's episode of the Leadership Lifestyle Podcast, we show you how to take your Vision (a dream with a purpose) and create a Mission Statement.  Then, we turn that into action with a Strategy, which is your daily behaviors and decisions that move you forward.

You need all 3- A Vision, A Mission, and A Strategy, to create the next season of you.  The Vision creates the Mission and the Strategy gets you there.  Every single person you know that's successful did it through a process.  When you understand that success is just a process, you know you can do it too!

You need a Vision, a Mission and a Strategy.  This isn't just for companies to create; you need to create one for you! Listen to the step-by-step way to create your next season.  It's probably already rolling around in your head, so let's get it on paper in a specific order so you can take action and start seeing results!

On this week's episode on the Leadership Lifestyle Podcast we ask, who is the better Leader?  Is it the entrepreneur or the traditional leader in a large company?  Without a doubt, stepping out and creating something on your own is not for everyone and it takes a certain mindset to make it happen.  Leading in a large company also takes a certain mindset to ascend to a higher leadership level.  So, which leader is better?

Actually, you need both mindsets to help you reach higher goals and accomplishments.  Many entrepreneurs think their idea is so amazing, everyone will love it.  Then, they struggle to scale.  Many traditional Leaders feel entitled once in a higher level and forget what it took for them to get there.  So, calling all entrepreneurs and traditional leaders to listen and tell us what you think!

Trying to decide what type of person you are in order to understand what you should do?  Although not endorsed by Ian Morgan Cron, we do briefly talk about Enneagrams and one of the most thorough evaluations I've taken is the Enneagram from Ian Morgan Cron.  Check it out at: https://ianmorgancron.com/

It's been almost 2 years since the COVID lockdowns began.  There is virtually no industry touched by how COVID has changed our lives.  In this episode on the Leadership Lifestyle Podcast, we talk about how to lead your team through all the struggles and challenges, not to mention the impending mandate to be vaccinated or get tested every week.

Typically, you wouldn't want to talk about politics at work, but politics is exactly what's driving major decisions and those decisions affect your team.  You just can't pretend it's not on everyone's mind.  We are watching people being put into 2 separate groups of people and that's not good for any team.  Many people have differing opinions and regardless of what decision you or your company is going to make, how you lead your team says everything about your leadership.  Listen to everyone with empathy and be honest about where your team is going.

Everyone loves meetings right????  I bet not.  Since last year, there is study after study being conducted about meeting fatigue.  So many teams are working remotely, the only way to connect is more and more meetings.  It seemed fun at first, but now it's bring more stress and more work to many people.  On this podcast episode of the Leadership Lifestyle Podcast, we dive into why most meetings are ineffective but more importantly, what you can do to actually have effective meetings.

The truth is, there is great power in your team having effective meetings.  Meetings that actually propel your team forward!  It's a lot easier than you think, if you keep focused on what your meetings should be all about.

You only have so much time for yourself and for your team.  What direction are you going to send them?  What processes and initiatives will they put their energy into?  That is 100% up to you!

Sure, you can say you're the boss.....you're the manager......you're the leader.  No matter what you think you are, your team will never achieve the highest results unless they are willing to actually follow you.  In this week's podcast episode on the Leadership Lifestyle Podcast, we dig into the difference of having employees and those that will follow you.  Think of the first leader that actually saw you.  They actually noticed you could be more than you are now.  Do you instill that in others?  Are you just expecting people to do what they should because you said so?

If not, I'm sure the first thing you're thinking is how time consuming it must be to invest in others.  It's actually a lot less than you think because it's really about a mindset shift and not a checklist of things to do.  When you really focus on building your team, one person at a time, you'll be amazed at how much return on the investment that you, the company and the team gets back.  Oh, and you'll wind up being the leader you'd actually want to work for!

Fact.  The majority of people work in careers they don't want and work at places they don't want to be.  This week on the Leadership Lifestyle Podcast, we take a realistic look at surviving a bad work culture.  Sure, the goal is to get out of that situation, but most people can't.  Many people won't believe they can get to a better place, but if that describes you, let's look at how you can change your mindset and change your situation.

Leaders, this is also a good discussion about how you can break the cycle of bad work cultures.  For you to be the leader you would work for regardless of how you're led.  It also might help you examine how you're work culture is for your team.

Leaders!!!!!!   I will take being physically tired over being mentally tired any day of the week!  So many things bombard us and take our mental strength away.  In this week's podcast on the Leadership Lifestyle Podcast, we dive into the reasons our mental gas tank runs dry, look for the warning signs of running out of mental fuel, but most importantly, what you can do to set yourself up to not go crazy in the process.

The fact is, you'll never have enough time or labor to do all the things you want to do, and certainly not enough for what your boss or company wants you to do.  Save some of your sanity by being proactive.  Not everyday will be all sunshine and rainbows, but the more you mentally prepare, the less rainy days you'll have.

No matter what you do for a living, you can feel like you're just on a hamster wheel doing the same things all the time.  If you lead a group of people, you also have to ensure, not only yourself, but that your team doesn't feel that way.  You have to constantly remind yourself why you and your team is important.  How what you do day in and day out matters to the business succeeding.  Most people say, embrace the grind, but did you set up the right grind?  Listen to this week's podcast on the Leadership Lifestyle Podcast to think how you can look at your team differently.  How you can look at daily behaviors and decisions that will keep your team engaged and achieving higher results.

Don't settle for getting through the day.  There is a reason you and your team exists.  Elevate your focus so you don't let the daily grind, grind you out.  As a leader, you have to think of others.  I would take being physically tired over mentally tired any day of the week.  You have to look past daily tasks and even goals.  Envision the big picture and talk about that all the time.  You'll see a huge difference in your team and the team's culture.  Press play!

So, we're all chasing success.  We often don't think of it as a process.  We are so focused on winning and losing that we don't break down what causes winning and not only what we can learn from that but, also how to apply what we learn from it.  Every famous or accomplished person you know, has gone through this same pendulum.  They have figured out what works and what doesn't work.  People say it's really about luck but luck only helps if you already have something to offer.

So let's get clear on what levels to go through to get to where you want to be.  Look at it as a process because it actually is a process.  When you can do that, much of your fear and anxiety can take a back seat.  Those feelings will still be there, but when you shift your focus on the process of the Success Pendulum, what you need to do becomes clear and you can focus your energy on what actually works!

It's pretty simple.  We all want to win.  Companies want to win.  Your team within the company wants to win.  You get the picture but, sustainable winning is much more than hitting a goal or a number.  You can't rest on hitting one large target and you certainly can't shut down just because you missed one.  On this episode of the Leadership Lifestyle Podcast, we talk about how to create a winning environment.  In the past, dangling carrots and high pressure tactics were used to drive the team.  If you really want to create sustainable winning, then listen as we break it down into 3 massive important steps.

When you create a sustainable, winning team, more than just hitting the target happens.  Your team will start to collaborate like they never have before.  They will learn to communicate and trust more.  The focus of the team becomes very clear and focus their daily behaviors and decisions on achieving the right goals instead of just trying to get through the day.  If you want to create sustainable winning, hit play!

Dear Leaders,

The fact is, the workforce is changing.  Mental Health is becoming part of what we, as leaders, need to deal with.  Mental Health does not mean Mental Illness.  Most companies actually work toward better employee physical health with programs about diets and exercise.  That's the approach we should take on the mental side.......really meaning...the mental mindset.  The sooner you work to proactively deal with the mental side of your team, the more ready you'll be to deal with issues before they happen and be ready with how you can deal with it.

Don't just leave this up to your HR department.  You're the one that works side by side with your team everyday.  What a great opportunity to continue building your brand and building trust with your team.  We'll also discuss what being ready to handle mental health challenges doesn't mean.  It doesn't mean team members can do what ever they want and it doesn't mean you change or Vision, Mission or Strategy.  As the Leader, it's your job to protect the team culture......not just the good parts or the easy parts....but all of the team culture.

Some people never get past winning, and some people never get past failing. No one likes to hear the same story over and over about how somebody did one thing and never anything else.  There are those who fail at something and like their life will never move forward because of it.  The interesting thing is that you can use the same for both in order to move forward to create and accomplish other things.  Once you learn how to propel forward, you won’t have to worry about what are you going to do next.  You’ll figure it out.

Whether people want to admit it or not, Imposter Syndrome has probably affected them at some point in their life for one reason or another.  If you think about it, Imposter Syndrome showed itself to you around your middle school years, even if we didn't call it that.  All to often, we look at people who are doing the things we want to do and can't image they had struggles at all.  We only see them on the playing field and not the practice room.

Since it's a fact of life, maybe we just need to change they way we look at Imposter Syndrome.  How can we make it a process or a stepping stone, instead of a road block?  In this podcast episode, we'll explore ways you can do just that so you pivot in a progress direction instead of stopping your forward motion.

Why not you?  What’s the real difference between people who “make it” and people who don’t.  Are they really that much different than you?  I promise you there is someone out there, less talented with less money and less ability doing the things you’d like to do simply because they believed in themselves more than you do.  Let’s talk real about challenges and fear but also what’s truly possible if you go out there and just do the damn thing! What do you really have to loose?  You are already not doing what you’d like to be doing.  You need a plan, patience and a believe of what you’re truly capable of doing.  So let’s learn about it together and maybe you’ll realize there might not be as much of a difference of those doing something you’d like to do. I have no doubt Leaders would rather not have to have hard talks.  We know we need to but I've never met a Leader that looks forward to having them.  When you don't have the hard talks, when you don't set boundaries of behaviors, you have to ask who is in charge?  Is it the Leader, or the allowable behaviors that are now in charge.

In this podcast, we'll talk about how to approach hard talks and if you haven't been having hard talks, how by starting small, you can get better at having them and moving your team forward.  The fact is, all Leaders have a brand, a way of how your team, your company and your Customers look at you.  In order to build your leadership brand and honestly, not allowing behavior stress to rob your teams' joy, start having the hard talks and more importantly....always have the hard talks when you need to!

In this podcast we talk about the thing we probably dread the most.  Firing someone.  Or as I heard from a colleague, promoting them to Customer.  Either way you say it, there are things as Leaders we should do and need to do before it ever gets to that stage.  Now, if you're just the hired gun type manager and let new hires fend for themselves, this podcast is probably not for you.

To build a sustainable team over time, takes investments and onboarding strategies that can lead to a low retention rate and low turn over rate.  If you do find yourself in the position where it's just time to promote a team member to Customer, then let's at least do our due diligence as Leaders and ensure their impending departure is not a surprise.

One of the toughest challenges of a leader is taking over a new team.  So much uncertainty from you and the team about what is to come.  There is a right way to do it, and a very wrong way to do it.  In this podcast, we'll talk about some stats about how the workforce views bosses.  When you take over a team the wrong way, it can be almost impossible to win the team back over.

After reviewing the reality check of the challenges of a transition, we'll give you a step by step process to building immediate trust with the team and show you how to learn about them first.  Then you can provide clarity and direction to show the team what winning looks like and how you'll get there.

In this week's podcast, we dive into the what's being called the Great Resignation.  The COVID pandemic has really reshaped how many people look at the workforce and how people would like to work moving forward.  As companies are talking about everyone coming back into the office, many people are hesitate to do so.  They have had over a year of working from home and changing their lives to accommodate the change, and they don't want to go back.  So the question is, how many people will stay in their current jobs or find a new one?

At the same time, what can Leaders and companies to do keep their workforce in place?  If this is your challenge, just know you don't need a high cost, fancy new program.  Most of what you can do to retain your team is actually free.  Yes, you invest a little time, but most of what you need to do is actually free.

So, whether you're looking for a new position or company to allow you to work the way you want to, or you're a leader in company trying to keep your team together, this podcast is for you!

Ever respond out of your character?  Have a bad interaction with a team member or even your entire team that went badly and you ask yourself, "Why did I do that?"  Sometimes, it's just our own EQ unawareness and sometimes it seems like it's not even in our control.  In this podcast, we'll dive in to amygdala hijacks. What is it?  How does it happen?  Why does it happen?  Most importantly, what you can do to set the environment so that amygdala hijacks are rare.

This isn't really about getting too scientific, but often times we sabotage ourselves with our lack of awareness. It could be that we just never understood how not growing emotionally, especially in emotional Leadership, holds us back from truly building the team we want and achieving the goals that keep our companies succeeding.  We'll share 6 ways you can set yourself up for success and not let negative moments and responses derail where you're truly trying to go!

Great teams that are successful always execute, right???  Nope.  You might be shocked about how many teams that are winning, still don't execute very well.  In fact, can you recall when you were actually taught to execute?  Just like anything in Leadership, including Leadership itself, execution is it's own skill set.  It has it's own rules, it's own dynamics.  If you really want to learn how well your team works together, execute on a goal that's not a day to day activity.

We'll dive in to the roadblocks, myths, and unintentional missteps behind why execution doesn't happen.  Discover the difference in getting things done and getting that one, special thing done.  In this podcast, we'll share 8 simple steps to really grow your execution muscle.  The more you use that muscle, the more you'll understand how your team functions and what you are really capable of accomplishing.

Today, we're going to talk about the letter Q.  For many years, the work force has been shifting way from being IQ dominate, to EQ dominate.  There are also many other Q's to consider which can make it cloudy on what Q is important to follow.  Are you taking your cues from the right Q?  As the saying goes, you need IQ to get in the room and EQ to stay in the room.  The truth is, you need both to be successful but, to be really effective in productivity, execution, and growing your team, knowing which Q to use and when is what makes you valuable to your team and your company.

Learn to use your IQ to help your EQ and your EQ to help your IQ while you don't waste time with other Q's you don't need.  Let's connect and discuss....... https://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-charest-a08369a4/

There is never enough time in the week for you and your team to get things done.  You certainly do not want to add to that problem.  Instead of just focusing on what the team is doing, have you ever considered how the team is doing it?  How they handle conflict, day to day interactions with the Customer, how much ownership they have on the team?  Every team deserves to be a high functioning and productive unit.  That starts with you, the Leader.

Have you ever thought about how your words, attitude and directions affect how your team works?  Your team will go where you send them but, have you ever thought about where you are sending them mentally?  Or, what has been allowed to go with the team that is holding them back?  We'll talk about that and simple steps you can take as the Leader to get the most out of your team.

Work evaluations are such a touchy subject.  Managers, for the most part, don't enjoy giving them and People, for the most part, don't like receiving them.  In this podcast episode, we'll dive in to what most frustrations drive those feelings.  Also, we'll have a little fun (don't tell the Human Resources Dept.) with some absurd comment given for "further development" and just overall weak work advice.

Then, we'll talk evaluation options.  How about no evaluation at all?  What would you change about the evaluation process?  What's actually helpful?  What makes you cringe about evaluations, either giving them or receiving them?  Connect with me at the link below and send me your thoughts.  I'd love to hear some great stories if you have them, or ridiculous stories too.

Let's face it, as Leaders it's just easy to give one direction to everyone and expect them to all receive it the same way.  Teams do not work that way.  Or, hopefully, your team is not just a bunch of robots with no ownership of what they do.  The only way to accomplish people working for you to become owners is......treat them like owners. You really need to figure out what differences the people on your team has and how they can create an advantage with those differences to improve productivity, or create better products and provide better service to the Customer.

In this Leadership Podcast, we dive into how you can start seeing your team as individuals and at the same time, have everyone, including yourself, work toward a higher purpose together.   That's what a leader does.  So let's stop putting everyone into the same box and create teams that drive results through a sense of ownership and a sense that they matter.....because they DO matter!!!!

While it's no secret that you need to lead differently at different levels, no one really talks about the pendulum you'll go through as you start on the front line (the execution level), move to team, department, divisional or middle management (the bridge level), and the executive or C Suite (the Vision level) and how those different levels should interact.  Leading the wrong way at these levels hurts execution and business success, not to mention, it tunes out the team working for you.

We'll dive in to what you should recognize what your team is going through at each level and how you can really connect with them to get the best out of them and show your ability to lead at a higher level.  Learn to speak the language of the Execution Level, Bridge Level and the Vision Level.  By the way, this works in both directions communicating upwards and downwards.

Cloning yourself might sound like a great way of getting more things done.  Maybe that would work for getting the laundry done or mowing the grass.  But if you’re building your team, the last thing you want to do is surround yourself with people just like yourself.  In order to know the difference, you have to learn about yourself.  What you’re good at, what you’re not good at.  You need to have others on your team that do not think just like you. While the team is working toward the same goal, you’ll never have creativity or diversity of thought.  The question is…..do you have biases you don’t recognize that hold your team back?  Are you unintentionally being different with a group of people?  When is it intentional, or conscious, and when is it unintentional, or unconscious?  Mostly importantly, how can you work toward building your team without biases and blind spots? It’s not as easy as you think.   Additional Resources:  www.ianmorgancron.com www.workinggenuis.com LinkedIn Thought Leadership Group:  https://www.linkedin.com/groups/12459243/

Being an influential leader is what most leaders aspire to and there is certainly nothing wrong with that. You want to be effective, build teams and accomplish goals.  However, the ultimate gift of leadership is creating other leaders.  What are you leaving behind?  What will your legacy be without helping others to pick up where you left off?  Creating Legacy Leaders will require a different level from you.  First, you have to build trust with your team and building trust can take just seconds.  No, there’s no magic trick to building trust in seconds but I’ll explain how as you listen.  Building trust is not as hard as you think, but it does require a different way of looking at building trust. Once you’ve built a high level of trust, that’s when your team gives you permission to mentor them into leadership.  You won’t see a reward immediately, but when you have created other leaders it will be one of the most rewarding things you’ll ever do in your career and that is the ultimate gift of leadership.   https://www.linkedin.com/groups/12459243/   Share your knowledge and insights

If you want to really focus yourself on, not just a goal, but really creating something you want in your career, a new career, or just something personally for you, you need a Vision, a Mission, and a Strategy.  All three have a specific purpose and ensure you can actually execute on the Vision.  After creating a Vision and even a Mission statement, most fail at executing that Vision or Mission Statement because there is no action behind it.  As Henry Ford said, “you can’t build a reputation on what you’re going to do.” A Vision is a dream with a purpose. Envision the perfect version of what you want to do.  Then, a Mission Statement defines where you’re going and what that identity is.  You can’t stop there though. Strategy is the daily behaviors and decisions about how you’ll get there! I’ll break it all down for you in a very useful way to understand how they all work together.  The Vision creates the Mission and the Strategy gets you there.   https://www.linkedin.com/groups/12459243/   Leadership Lifestyle Discussion group…….share your knowledge!
