Davin Y (otherwise known as DVN) began the journey through sound early in life when he played the piano for several years. During that time, he was also exposed to a wide variety of classical music and he always had a profound appreciation for harmonies and dissonances.
Several years later, after not playing any instruments, he picked up the guitar and quickly mastered the instrument. He later realized that he always had a talent for music.
His first real exposure to the Electronic Dance Music scene was Resolution 09 at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Tiesto played a phenomenal set and introduced him to an amazing form of music. Ever since, he has been an avid listener of all subgenres of EDM and has developed an astute taste for the best productions.
DVN began mixing a few years ago out of necessity in search of that perfect set. Podcasts and Live sets often weren’t tailored to exactly what he wanted. One song was often enough to kill the vibe of the set. All official releases have long intros and outros to allow for proper mixing. All these combined doesn’t really lead to a ‘good’ listening experience when played with Itunes.
Therefore, mixing really stemmed from trying to find those high quality sets that could be possible when mixed properly. He never had the intention of pursuing this any further than as a personal hobby. This changed when his submission for Beta Nightclub’s DJing Contest ended up achieving Top 4 out of over 50 submissions. This achievement kick started the DVN project and Davin realized his musical talent extended beyond traditional instruments.
DVN is about bringing you only the best of the best Electronic Music. Each track is meticulously selected and each podcast is mixed and produced to the highest standards. Davin is known for his seemingly endless desire to achieve the impossible. It is a guarantee that nothing gets published until he is 100% satisfied with the product. no compromise.
DVN mixes toward progressive trance or just powerful, effective electronic music in general. However, he is not limited by these definitions as there are good music in all subgenres of EDM.
