This book Both of Me was an intriguing book that had many twists and turns. Clara the main character had went on a journey who met the other main character named Elias. Elias seems to know everything about about Clara which made the book difficult and mysterious. This mystery only added to the book but sometimes confused the reader as well. There was many disapparearing characters which made the book harder to understand. Their journey was created in Elias's head which confuses the reader on what is reality and what is created. This book was very complicated at points with multiple elements of physiology but at some points the writing was very intriguing like their journey across the country. This book was very intriguing if you like mystery and I hope you read this puzzling book.
Jerk, California is about a young boy named Sam Carrier with Tourettes syndrome. He is the main character and is a senior in high school. With Sam having tourettes, it makes it difficult for him to creat friends. Sam's step-father "Old Bill' does not make life for Sam any easier. For instance, Old Bill made himn change his name from Jack Keegan to Sam Carrier because he was so ashamed to have a son with the last name Keegan. Keegan was the last name of Sam's biological father who also had tourettes. This syndrome made his father give his name a bad reputation. Old Bill takes his anger out on Sam by abusing him physically. The only thing that keeps Sam sane is his friendship with Naomi. Sam goes to therapy to help cope with tourettes. The therapy doesn't help, as Sam curses out the valedictorian and runs off. He finds himself in an old man named George's garden. Sam and Geogrge grow close as Sam begins to work for him. When George dies, Sam takes over the garden and his money. He takes a cross country trip with Naomi and finds things about himself. I hope you enjoy listening. #tourettes #jerk #california #takearead
