While being an artist is all about creating, improving the mental game is just as important as improving the skill of creating. You’ll face rejection, family members may not believe in you, you’ll have challenges, good days and bad days. Thick skin is needed in order to succeed or you will crumble mentally on your artistic journey. Find out ways you can create mental strength and change your mindset on certain things.
Art in school, not what you expected huh? I know, because I’ve been there. Now, I’m not here to ramble and complain about the school system as a whole, that’s a completely different story altogether. But I am here to talk about art from my experience of high school and ways it could be made better. Fewer students are choosing art in university, but before university, high school is the foundation where the love for art is built in terms of academics. If you loved art in high school, you will certainly want to pursue it in university, which is the same as anything you do in life, like Steve Jobs said,
“The best way to do great work is to love what you do”
As artists, we make impressions, whether it’s with our artwork, our social media page, or our websites. How we dress is an essential part of the impression we create. Whether you like it or not people will judge you, unlike the internet, reality doesn’t have a delete button. You have no control over what people think when you wear that top or those jeans. So find out why and how clothing matters especially if you’re an artist.
Travel. A vital part of life. As artists, we sit down in our studios working away at our pieces for hours. While it’s great that we’re doing what we love it’s terrible for our mental health. Being isolated from the possibilities the world has to offer. I’m not saying not to create art in your studio for hours, heck I do it. I’m saying that there needs to be a balance between art and getting out there and living not just existing. So without further ado, here are 8 reasons why you should travel more as an artist.
