Conversational narcissism is defined as “the tendency to steer conversations back to yourself”. While you may have not heard of the term, you will recognize conversational narcissism from its presence in your interactions.

We've all played a part in this at one point or another, as the recipient, and as the enabler. As unfortunate as that is, it is prevalent in varying degrees, astoundingly even more frequent within discussions amongst close confidants. Where is the balance when it comes to expressing emotions while being aware of emotional capacity with one another? Let’s discuss.

Please rate and review here or donate a cup of coffee. Your support doesn’t go unnoticed! Many, many thanks.
// PODCAST NOTES

  • Personal Reflections – My close friend of ten years, Stephy, and I discuss how conversational narcissism has shown up personally in our lives, especially with regards to friendships in our circle, and how it affects our personal growth.
  • Setting Healthy Boundaries – Reflections on well-being and taking proactive approaches to take care of self, and keeping toxic positivity at bay.
  • Normalizing Self-Preservation and Well-Being – Continuously verbalizing and practicing the articulation of emotions as a means of self-expression, self-reflection, and ultimately, personal healing.

Special thank you to, Stephy, for discussing her experiences and diving into this topic with me! So thankful for your genuineness in helping me grow, process, and be more intentional in my own conversations.
