Being a Dad is awesome but it is also really difficult right?

There is a lot of ‘stressure’ that comes with being a parent and as Men/Dads, we sometimes feel we must be strong, unbreakable and just get on with it. We can find it hard to express our feelings and be vulnerable about this, so we tend to bottle things up and tell everyone we are ok, everything is fine when, in fact, we are far from it.

That is why Beau and I started this podcast, to give a platform for Dads and empower them to have the real conversations with other Dads, normalise vulnerability and to discover tools and resources that ease some of that “stressure”. It’s about supporting each other!

We are not experts, we are just two very passionate Dads that are striving to be the best we can be for our children, our partners and ourselves.

We do this podcast for love and we love doing it. That said, we are just as time poor as many of you as we juggle careers, family life, friendships and other commitments. Therefore, we are not always regular with our episodes. But rest assured, we are not giving up, we will continue to pump out episodes on topics we think will support at least “One Dad”.

This episode, we discuss “Things We Fear Now And In The Future”, aimed at bringing to the surface all the things we worry about when it comes to being a Dad and some strategies to deal with it and let go.

In 2017 when Birthing Dads Founder Steven Kennedy had a rough trot after the birth of his son, he researched evidence around the topic of men at birth to better understand his own experience. He discovered the health system supporting birth is in crisis and many of the statistics that define modern birth (cesarean, birth trauma, inductions) are heading in the wrong direction.
He discovered that many men are unprepared for the experience of birth and this could actually be contributing to the poor outcomes. Steven decided to create Birthing Dads to see if the statistics could be turned around by engaging men more effectively in the process.
Join us on this episode as we pick (prick?) Stephen's brain and share his knowledge and research how Dads can have more of a role in the birth of their child.

We are back! after a 3 week hiatus...
Beau has successfully completed his Ironman Triathlon, Steve embarked on his first International Travel in over a year and both are excited to be back in the studio to talk all things Life Skills.
How can we teach our children to survive in this world rather than be dependant and reliant on others? What would it look like if we could teach our children ultimate independence, confidence in themselves and give them tools to use in the many challenges and opportunities that life presents?
We discuss this and more this week and just as we introduce time management to the conversation, Beau realises that he has to pick up his son, Juke from daycare and we may just rush the end of the episode a little.

This week, we breakdown how Beau has taken 'You Time" to the extreme and is/has been training to complete an Ironman Triathlon. That's a 3.8km swim, a 180km bike ride and a 42.2km run.
And, in typical Beau fashion, he is doing it to raise money for charity, so why not contribute by buying one kilometre out of the total 226km.

In today's episode, Beau and Steve breakdown their One Dad Online Sharing Circles:

And don't forget, they are 100% COMPLETELY FREE!
Sign up at https://www.facebook.com/onedadpodcast
Why? you may ask... why do we do it?
Well, we believe...
Dads thrive/need the opportunity to talk with other Dads about our fears, our doubts, our challenges and our triumphs. Feeling heard in a safe space is so important.
Sharing with our partners is important but sharing with other Dads has a different feel and impact.Being a Dad is often harder in our head. Seemingly, challenging issues can shift and dissolve just in speaking them out aloud to another.
Practicing being totally present and listening to another is a vital life skill that we can all develop and will improve your relationships, particularly with your children.
Just listening to another Dad can cause shifts in our own experience as a Father.
