The significance of water baptism is that it symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and our identification with Him. It is not required for salvation but is an act of obedience and a public sign of what Christ has done inwardly in your life. Water baptism should be the first step of faith you take after being born again. You demonstrate a proclamation outwardly to other believers, and also to the world, that you are following Jesus with your life. If you have recently been born again or have been a believer for many years and have not been baptized, now is a good time to take this step.
